As the search for the perfect night’s sleep continues, Scott Living mattresses have emerged as a leading option for those seeking luxury and comfort. In this in-depth review, we will explore the various aspects of these mattresses, including their construction, materials, and overall performance.

Construction and Materials of Scott Living Mattresses

Scott Living mattresses are crafted with the utmost attention to detail and quality. The brand offers a diverse range of mattresses, including memory foam, hybrid, and latex options, all designed to suit different sleep preferences and needs.

  1. Memory Foam: Scott Living’s memory foam mattresses utilize high-density, gel-infused foam layers to provide both comfort and support. These mattresses are known for their pressure-relieving properties and conforming abilities, making them ideal for side sleepers and those with joint pain.

  2. Hybrid: The hybrid mattresses combine the best of both worlds, featuring individually wrapped coils and memory foam layers. This design offers a balance of comfort, support, and durability, making them suitable for a wide range of sleepers.

  3. Latex: Scott Living’s latex mattresses feature natural Talalay latex, which is known for its breathability, resilience, and hypoallergenic properties. These mattresses offer a more responsive, bouncy feel and are an excellent option for those who prefer a cooler sleeping surface.

Cover Materials

The cover of a Scott Living mattress is made from a blend of polyester and Tencel, a sustainable and eco-friendly material derived from wood pulp. This combination creates a soft, breathable, and moisture-wicking surface, promoting a comfortable sleep environment.

Comfort and Support

One of the most impressive features of Scott Living mattresses is their ability to cater to a wide range of sleep preferences. Memory foam options provide ample contouring and pressure relief, while hybrid models offer the perfect balance between support and comfort.

The latex mattresses, on the other hand, provide a more responsive and bouncy feel, making them an excellent option for those who prefer a firmer sleep surface. Overall, Scott Living mattresses are known for their superior support, providing proper spinal alignment and reducing the risk of aches and pains.

Motion Isolation and Edge Support

Scott Living mattresses excel in motion isolation, particularly the memory foam and hybrid models. The memory foam layers effectively absorb movement, ensuring minimal disturbance to your partner during the night. The individually wrapped coils in the hybrid models also contribute to this motion isolation, providing a peaceful night’s sleep for couples.

Edge support is another area where Scott Living mattresses shine. The reinforced edges in both hybrid and latex models offer excellent support, allowing you to utilize the entire surface of the mattress without feeling as though you’re about to roll off.

Temperature Regulation

Scott Living mattresses are designed to offer a cool and comfortable sleep experience. The gel-infused memory foam and natural Talalay latex layers promote breathability and temperature regulation, ensuring you stay cool throughout the night.

Final Thoughts

Scott Living mattresses provide a luxurious sleep experience, combining high-quality materials and innovative construction to deliver exceptional comfort and support. With a diverse range of options, there is a Scott Living mattress suited to every individual’s unique sleep preferences. Scott Living  Mattress vs. Saatva

Scott Living and Saatva are both reputable mattress brands offering a range of high-quality products designed to cater to various sleep preferences. In this comparison, we will outline the differences between the two brands in terms of construction, materials, pricing, and other relevant factors.

Construction and Materials:

Scott Living offers memory foam, hybrid, and latex mattresses, featuring gel-infused foam layers, individually wrapped coils, and natural Talalay latex. The cover materials are a blend of polyester and Tencel, providing a soft, breathable, and moisture-wicking surface.

Saatva, on the other hand, is primarily known for its luxury innerspring and hybrid mattresses. They offer three main models: the Saatva Classic (innerspring), the Loom & Leaf (memory foam), and the Zenhaven (latex). The Saatva Classic features a coil-on-coil design, while the Loom & Leaf uses high-density memory foam layers. The Zenhaven mattress is made of natural Talalay latex. Saatva uses organic cotton covers, adding an eco-friendly touch to their mattresses.

Comfort and Support:

Both Scott Living and Saatva cater to a variety of sleep preferences with their diverse range of mattresses. Scott Living’s memory foam and hybrid options provide contouring, pressure relief, and balanced support, while their latex mattresses offer a more responsive and firmer feel.

Saatva’s innerspring and hybrid models provide excellent support and durability, with the added benefit of customizable firmness levels. The Loom & Leaf memory foam mattress delivers pressure relief and contouring, while the Zenhaven latex mattress offers a buoyant, responsive feel.

Motion Isolation and Edge Support:

Scott Living mattresses, particularly the memory foam and hybrid models, excel in motion isolation, ensuring minimal disturbance for couples sharing a bed. The reinforced edges in both hybrid and latex models provide excellent edge support.

Saatva mattresses also perform well in motion isolation, especially the Loom & Leaf memory foam model. The Saatva Classic and Zenhaven mattresses offer decent motion isolation but may not be as effective as their Scott Living counterparts. However, Saatva mattresses feature robust edge support, allowing for full use of the mattress surface.

Temperature Regulation:

Scott Living mattresses are designed to provide a cool sleeping experience, with gel-infused memory foam and natural Talalay latex layers promoting breathability and temperature regulation.

Saatva mattresses also prioritize temperature regulation. The Saatva Classic’s coil-on-coil design promotes airflow, while the Loom & Leaf memory foam mattress features a gel-infused foam layer. The Zenhaven latex mattress is naturally breathable due to its Talalay latex construction.

Pricing:

Scott Living mattresses are considered a luxury brand, with prices reflecting their high-quality materials and construction. Saatva, on the other hand, offers a more affordable luxury experience. While still using premium materials, Saatva’s mattresses tend to be more budget-friendly than Scott Living’s offerings.

Final Thoughts:

Both Scott Living and Saatva provide high-quality, comfortable, and supportive mattresses. Your choice between the two brands will largely depend on your personal preferences, budget, and specific sleep requirements. If you value eco-friendly materials and customizable firmness options, Saatva may be a better fit for you. However, if you prioritize motion isolation and a wider variety of mattress types, Scott Living could be the ideal choice. It’s essential to research both brands thoroughly and, if possible, test out their mattresses in person to determine which one best suits your needs.

Customer Service and Return Policy:

    • Difficulties with Returns: Some customers report challenges with returning mattresses within the trial period, facing delays or complications with the process.

Quiet Mind: Must-Have Weighted Pillow for Peaceful Sleep

Quiet Mind

he Quiet Mind weighted pillow is a type of pillow that is designed to be heavier than a traditional pillow. The weight is evenly distributed throughout the pillow, and it is believed to provide a number of benefits, such as reducing stress and anxiety, improving sleep, and helping to relieve pain.

The Quiet Mind weighted pillow is made with a variety of materials, including memory foam, microbeads, and buckwheat hulls. The weight of the pillow can vary depending on the size and fill material, but most weighted pillows weigh between 5 and 10 pounds.

Some people find that using a weighted pillow can help them to fall asleep faster and sleep more soundly. The weight is thought to provide a sense of security and comfort, and it can also help to quiet the mind and reduce racing thoughts.

Weighted pillows may also be helpful for people who experience chronic pain. The weight can help to apply deep pressure stimulation (DPS), which is a type of therapy that has been shown to be effective in reducing pain.

If you are considering using a weighted pillow, it is important to talk to your doctor first. Weighted pillows are not appropriate for everyone, and they may not be safe for people with certain medical conditions.

Here are some of the potential benefits of using a weighted pillow:

    • Reduced stress and anxiety
    • Improved sleep
    • Pain relief
    • Increased sense of security and comfort
    • Quieter mind and reduced racing thoughts

If you are looking for a way to improve your sleep, reduce stress, or relieve pain, a weighted pillow may be a good option for you. However, it is important to talk to your doctor first to make sure that it is safe for you to use.

The Quiet Mind weighted pillow, known for its cozy hug and calming effect, has a relatively young history, born out of personal struggles and a quest for comfort. Here’s a glimpse into its journey:

A Founder’s Need:

The story begins with Mikey Goldman, the founder of Quiet Mind. Diagnosed with ADHD, Mikey found solace in the deep pressure he felt while hugging himself to sleep. This led him to experiment with weighted blankets, but their bulkiness and inconvenience proved less than ideal.

Birth of the Pillow:

Mikey’s solution? A weighted pillow! In 2015, he created the prototype of the Quiet Mind weighted pillow, designed to be portable and focused on the head and neck area for targeted deep pressure stimulation (DPS).

Early Days and Recognition:

Initially launched on Kickstarter, the Quiet Mind pillow quickly gained traction. People with anxiety, insomnia, and other conditions found relief in its gentle embrace. Positive reviews and media coverage further boosted its popularity.

Refined and Expanded:

Over the years, Quiet Mind has refined its pillow, offering different sizes and weights to cater to diverse needs. They’ve also expanded their product line, introducing weighted blankets, throws, and stuffed animals, all providing the comforting weight many crave.

Science and Research:

While anecdotal evidence abounds, research is ongoing to solidify the science behind weighted pillows. Studies suggest that DPS can activate the parasympathetic nervous system, promoting relaxation and reducing stress hormones.

A Comforting Embrace:

Today, the Quiet Mind weighted pillow stands as a testament to the power of simple ideas born from personal needs. It has helped countless individuals find comfort, calm, and better sleep, proving that sometimes, the most effective solutions come in the smallest packages.

Here’s a timeline summarizing the key milestones in the Quiet Mind weighted pillow’s history:

    • 2015: Mikey Goldman creates the first Quiet Mind weighted pillow prototype.
    • 2015: Successful Kickstarter campaign launches the pillow to the public.
    • 2016-2019: Quiet Mind gains popularity through positive reviews and media coverage.
    • 2019-present: Quiet Mind expands its product line with weighted blankets, throws, and stuffed animals.
  • Present: Ongoing research continues to explore the science behind weighted pillows and their therapeutic benefits.

Weighted Pillow vs. Weighted Blanket, Which is Better?

Both weighted pillows and weighted blankets offer deep pressure stimulation (DPS), known for its calming and therapeutic effects. However, they differ in several key ways:

Area of Coverage:

    • Weighted pillow: Targets the head and neck area, providing focused pressure and potentially reducing tension headaches and neck pain.
    • Weighted blanket: Covers the entire body, creating a sense of security and promoting overall relaxation.

Intensity of Pressure:

    • Weighted pillow: Typically lighter, ranging from 3 to 5 pounds, offering gentle pressure suitable for those sensitive to heavier weights.
    • Weighted blanket: Can be heavier, ranging from 10 to 20 pounds, providing a more intense and immersive sense of weight.

Temperature Regulation:

    • Weighted pillow: Less likely to cause overheating compared to blankets, especially important for warm sleepers.
    • Weighted blanket: Can potentially trap heat, making it less ideal for hot climates or individuals who run hot.

Mobility and Usage:

    • Weighted pillow: Portable and easy to use in various positions, including lying down, sitting, or cuddling.
    • Weighted blanket: Less mobile and can restrict movement while sleeping, potentially causing discomfort for some.

Suitability:

    • Weighted pillow: May be preferred by individuals seeking targeted head and neck relief, those sensitive to heavy weights, or warm sleepers.
  • Weighted blanket: Ideal for those seeking full-body relaxation, deep pressure comfort, or individuals who crave a sense of security.

Dēp Sleepwear Pajamas Review

dep sleepwear hoodie with logo detail

Dēp Slēpwear is designed to target sleep issues that some people would never think of. It’s made of stretchy, breathable poly/spandex materials that wick away sweat and keep you dry while you sleep. Not only that, it’s form-fitting style is meant to reduce the distractions (and even the noise) that baggy clothes might create. Aside from having an integrated eye mask (meaning it’s built into the hoodie), the hood itself even reduces noise and yes, it actually works. It’s innovative and made by someone who is aware that the details matter. It is built to help you fall asleep sleep quickly and easily and it seeks to provide substantially deeper and more comfortable sleep. What more? It’s even antimicrobial to combat against bacteria and odor.

Overview of Your Dēp Slēpwear Options

dep sleepwear hoodie unboxing

Dēp Slēpwear currently has 4 style options. Two in black, available in men’s sizes and two in light blue, available in women’s sizes. They have an Everynighter Sleep Hoodie which is great to use and keep at home which retails for $119.00. Then they have the Traveler Sleep Hoodie. The travel hoodie actually has a looser fit so that you can wear it over your favorite shirt while you adventure. It retails for $129.00.

Dep Sleepwear specializes in tops/hoodies only, so these can be worn with your favorite pajamas. (We’ll be sure to let you know if that changes.)

My Dēp Slēpwear Findings

Whether you choose to believe it or not, the Dēp Slēpwear Hoodie is no joke. The unboxing/unpacking experience was simple. I liked that they didn’t use more packaging than was actually necessary since it’s great for waste reduction and cutting costs. The material is just WOW. It’s unbelievable. Material that is moisture-wicking and thermoregulating has a certain feel to it and that’s why I know that this material is the real deal but this fabric is also incredibly unique. It’s a little similar (not identical) to gym or sports training clothing but comes with it’s own distinctive characteristics. The craziest thing I remember reading about this before receiving it in the mail is that it’s noise reducing and it actually is. When you put on the hoodie, the outside noise is actually muffled to a certain degree. You have to understand: this is an incredibly THIN and lightweight fabric. Something like that requires some sophisticated innovation. The eye mask is amazing and I can appreciate that it’s generous in its size. I’m sure many of us have experienced those eye masks that missed the mark, by a lot. For those who aren’t accustomed to eye masks, the fact that it’s built in encourages you to use it, which without a doubt in my mind, will help you sleep. It’s easy to open your eyes and keep them open when you feel you aren’t able to sleep but having a mask is kind of very obviously telling you “just keep trying, you’ll get there.” Aside from the quality of the material, the quality of the design is lovely, especially in regards to the female attire. It’s really feminine and pretty and that’s something I can certainly appreciate.

My Dēp Slēpwear Recommendation

dep sleepwear hoodie fabric details zoom
Click this photo to see the high resolution version so that you can really see the details.

I am genuinely impressed with this hoodie but I do suggest that you only actually wear this to sleep and sleep only (in particular if you’re a woman.) Because the fabric is really thin, wearing a bra doesn’t exactly work well in this. You’ll see that in my video review (yikes). In that sense, it’s not really flattering for a woman’s chest. I tried all sorts of bras with this but nothing looked subtle enough. And if you’re keen on keeping your nipples or your piercings concealed, this won’t do the job. Just for testing purposes, I also found that it can’t even hide a bandaid. That’s wild. It’s great for what it’s meant to do but I do suggest you keep it for use in the bedroom. This is a really cool technology-driven garment that creates a hell of an immersive experience. It’s basically a personal cocoon!

Best Sleep Gummies: Must-Have Picks for Restful Nights

Sleep Gummies
In the bustling landscape of health and wellness, gummy supplements have carved out a substantial niche, boasting soaring sales and an ever-growing fan base. This chewable phenomenon represents a shift in the supplement industry, illustrating a broader trend where convenience and enjoyment are merging with health consciousness. Once relegated to the domains of children’s vitamins, gummies have undergone a renaissance, blossoming into a diverse market catering to adults seeking a palatable alternative to traditional pills and powders. Experts attribute this surge in popularity to several factors: Palatability: Gummies offer a pleasant taste and texture, making them an attractive option for those averse to swallowing pills or the often unpleasant flavors associated with liquid supplements. Convenience: The ease of chewing a flavored gummy aligns well with the fast-paced lifestyle of modern consumers. There’s no need for water, they’re portable, and dosing is straightforward, eliminating some of the common barriers to consistent supplement use. Innovative Marketing: Manufacturers have successfully tapped into the wellness zeitgeist, often packaging gummies in eye-catching, Instagram-worthy bottles, and promoting them as not just health aids but lifestyle accessories. Broad Appeal: Gummies have transcended age barriers. While they began as a method to entice children into taking their vitamins, they now appeal to adults who maintain a semblance of childhood nostalgia combined with a health-forward mindset. Variety and Specialization: Today’s gummy supplements come in a wide array of formulations, addressing everything from vitamin deficiencies to sleep support, immune system boosting, and even hair and nail health. This versatility has expanded their market reach. Despite their popularity, gummies also face scrutiny from nutritionists and healthcare professionals. There’s ongoing debate about their efficacy, with some arguing that the process of creating a gummy can dilute the potency of the active ingredients. Additionally, the added sugars and additives necessary to create their appealing taste and texture raise questions about their overall health benefits. Consumer behavior studies suggest that the appeal of gummy supplements is unlikely to wane soon. As the supplement industry continues to innovate, with an eye on clean labeling and sugar-free options, gummy supplements seem poised to maintain their stronghold in the market. In the grand schema of health and nutrition, gummy supplements epitomize how modern consumers are seeking a harmonious blend of health, convenience, and enjoyment in their daily routines, a trend that appears to be more than just a chewable fad.

Why Are Gummies So Popular Now?

Popular Doctors and Podcasters like Andrew Huberman have raised awareness of the importance of sleep and the effectiveness of sleep supplements.

The ascendancy of gummy vitamins and supplements in the consumer market is a phenomenon that has drawn the attention of industry analysts and health professionals alike. Gummies are outpacing traditional pills and tablets in popularity due to a confluence of factors.

Palatability: First and foremost is the appeal to the palate. Gummies often come in a variety of flavors and resemble candy, making them more enjoyable to consume, especially for those who have aversions to swallowing pills or dislike the taste of standard tablets.

Convenience: The chewable nature of gummies dispenses with the need for water, rendering them a convenient on-the-go option. This ease of use is a significant draw for the busy consumer who may be juggling multiple responsibilities and seeking to streamline their health routines.

Innovative Marketing: Gummies have benefited from aggressive marketing campaigns that capitalize on the fun aspect of their consumption, framing them as a less intimidating entry point into dietary supplementation for all age groups.

Perceived Gentleness: There’s a widespread perception that gummies are gentler on the stomach, which can be a crucial deciding factor for individuals with gastrointestinal sensitivities.

Novelty and Variety: The influx of gummies into the market has brought a novelty factor. The range of shapes, colors, and flavors can make taking supplements feel less like a chore and more like a treat, encouraging daily use and adherence to supplement regimens.

Expansion of Target Demographics: While children are a primary audience for gummy vitamins, adults have increasingly become a target demographic. This expansion into the adult market has significantly contributed to the popularity of gummies.

Psychological Comfort: The act of chewing can offer a sense of comfort and satisfaction that swallowing a pill cannot. This psychological comfort is an understated yet powerful aspect of the gummy experience.

Despite these advantages, it is essential to acknowledge the concerns that have surfaced regarding the efficacy and sugar content of gummy vitamins compared to their pill counterparts. Critics argue that gummies can contain fewer nutrients, be less regulated in terms of dosage accuracy, and the inclusion of sugars and additives can detract from their health benefits.

Nevertheless, the surging demand for gummy supplements is an incontrovertible testament to their appeal. Manufacturers are continuously refining their processes to enhance the nutrient profile of gummies and address the concerns related to their sugar content and health efficacy. As the industry evolves, gummies are becoming increasingly sophisticated, but their core advantages of taste, convenience, and consumer appeal remain the driving force behind their popularity.

Our Picks for Best Sleep Gummies

FOCL Deep Sleep CBD Gummies are a popular option for people seeking natural sleep support. They contain 25mg of full-spectrum CBD, along with CBN, melatonin, and L-theanine, all of which work together to promote relaxation and restful sleep.

Here’s a breakdown of the key ingredients:

    • CBD: Cannabidiol (CBD) is a well-studied compound found in cannabis that has shown promise for promoting relaxation and reducing anxiety. Studies suggest it may also improve sleep quality.
    • CBN: Cannabinol (CBN) is another cannabinoid produced from the degradation of THC. It’s known for its sedative properties and may help induce deeper sleep.
    • Melatonin: Melatonin is a hormone naturally produced by the body that regulates sleep-wake cycles. Taking melatonin supplements can help regulate your sleep schedule and improve sleep quality.
    • L-theanine: L-theanine is an amino acid found in green tea that has calming and stress-reducing effects. It may also help improve sleep quality.

It’s important to note that individual results may vary, and while FOCL Deep Sleep CBD Gummies are generally well-tolerated, some people may experience side effects such as drowsiness, dry mouth, or dizziness.

Ingredients in Sleep Gummies

Below is a list of commonly found constituents in sleep aids, alongside typical dosages as noted in scientific literature and product recommendations. However, it is crucial to consult a healthcare professional before taking any supplements, as the appropriate dosage may vary based on individual health needs and potential interactions with other medications.

Melatonin: One of the most widely recognized sleep aids, melatonin is a hormone that regulates the sleep-wake cycle. Supplements typically range from 0.5 mg to 5 mg, taken 30 minutes to an hour before bedtime.

Valerian Root: Valerian is an herb that has been used for centuries to treat insomnia. Studies often use dosages ranging from 300 mg to 600 mg, taken an hour before sleep.

Magnesium: This mineral is involved in hundreds of bodily functions, including sleep regulation. Magnesium supplements for sleep are commonly available in doses of 100 mg to 350 mg.

L-Theanine: An amino acid found in tea leaves, L-theanine has a reputation for promoting relaxation without drowsiness. Standard doses are around 100 mg to 200 mg, taken 30 minutes to an hour before bed.

Chamomile: This herb, often consumed as a tea, contains apigenin, an antioxidant that may promote sleepiness. Supplements typically offer 400 mg to 500 mg, but drinking chamomile tea is also a common method of ingestion.

Lavender: The calming scent of lavender can have a mild sedative effect. It’s commonly inhaled as an essential oil, but oral doses in supplements are usually around 80 mg to 160 mg.

Passionflower: Traditionally used for its sedative properties, passionflower can be found in doses of 350 mg to 700 mg, typically consumed an hour before bedtime.

Glycine: An amino acid that some studies suggest might improve sleep quality, recommended supplemental dosages are around 3 grams taken before sleep.

5-HTP (5-Hydroxytryptophan): This compound is a precursor to serotonin, a neurotransmitter involved in sleep. Supplements are typically available in 100 mg to 300 mg doses.

GABA (Gamma-Aminobutyric Acid): GABA is a neurotransmitter that can have a calming, inhibitory effect on the brain. Supplemental doses are often around 100 mg to 200 mg.

When considering the use of these ingredients for sleep support, the quality of the supplements, potential side effects, interactions with other medications, and individual health conditions must be taken into account. Furthermore, clinical studies often use specific standardized extracts, and therefore, results may not be directly transferable to all over-the-counter products. It is also important to note that the FDA does not regulate supplements in the same way as pharmaceuticals, and thus, potency and purity can vary between brands and batches. It is always advisable to consult with a healthcare provider before beginning any new supplement regimen.

Sleep Gummies vs. Sleep Pills, Which is Better?

Choosing between sleep gummies and pills depends on several factors, so let’s compare them based on key points:

Similarities:

  • Active Ingredient: Both typically contain melatonin, a hormone regulating sleep-wake cycles.
  • Purpose: Both aim to improve sleep onset and potentially sleep quality.

Differences:

Gummies:

  • Pros:
    • Easier to take: Chewable and potentially appealing for individuals who dislike swallowing pills.
    • Faster absorption: May start working quicker due to quicker digestion compared to pills.
    • Taste: Often come in various flavors, making them more palatable.
  • Cons:
    • Dosage accuracy: Studies have shown some gummies have inaccurate melatonin content, raising safety concerns.
    • Sugar content: May contain added sugar, impacting overall health.
    • Regulation: Often less regulated than prescription sleep aids, so quality and purity might vary.

Pills:

  • Pros:
    • Dosage accuracy: Typically have more consistent melatonin content, ensuring you get the intended dose.
    • No sugar: Avoids potential issues with added sugar intake.
    • More regulated: Subject to stricter manufacturing and quality control standards.
  • Cons:
    • Less palatable: Might be harder to swallow for individuals with swallowing difficulties.
    • Slower absorption: May take longer to take effect compared to gummies.

Ultimately, the best choice depends on your individual needs and preferences:

  • For occasional use and ease of administration: Gummies might be an option, but prioritize reputable brands and be aware of potential dosage discrepancies.
  • For those needing precise dosage, concerned about sugar, or have swallowing difficulties: Pills might be a better choice due to their accuracy, regulation, and lack of sugar.

Important Note:

  • Before using any sleep aid: Consult your doctor, especially if you have underlying health conditions, take other medications, or are pregnant/breastfeeding.
  • Do not rely on sleep aids long-term: Address the root cause of your sleep problems with healthy sleep hygiene practices.

Benefits of Silk Bedding

Silk bedding boasts a range of benefits, from promoting luxury and comfort to potentially improving your health and beauty. Here are some of the key advantages:

Comfort and Luxury:

    • Smoothness: Silk’s texture is incredibly smooth and gentle on the skin, reducing friction and minimizing tugging on hair while you sleep. This can lead to a more comfortable and restful night’s sleep.
    • Temperature regulation: Silk is naturally breathable and wicks away moisture, keeping you cool in summer and warm in winter. This makes it ideal for year-round comfort.
    • Longevity: Silk is a strong and durable fiber, so your bedding will last for many years with proper care.

Potential Health Benefits:

    • Hypoallergenic: Silk is naturally resistant to dust mites, mold, and allergens, making it a great choice for allergy sufferers.
    • Skin health: The smoothness of silk can help reduce friction and irritation, potentially benefiting sensitive skin and conditions like eczema. Additionally, some studies suggest the amino acids in silk may even have moisturizing properties.
    • Hair health: Silk’s smooth surface can help reduce friction and frizz, leading to smoother and healthier hair.

Other Advantages:

    • Beauty benefits: Some say silk pillowcases can help minimize sleep wrinkles and bedhead due to the reduced friction on your skin and hair.
    • Antibacterial properties: Silk naturally has antibacterial properties, which may help keep your bedding cleaner and fresher.
    • Aesthetics: Silk bedding comes in a variety of luxurious colors and textures, adding a touch of elegance to your bedroom.

However, it’s important to consider some potential drawbacks:

    • Cost: Silk bedding is significantly more expensive than other materials like cotton.
    • Delicate care: Silk requires special care and needs to be hand-washed or dry-cleaned.
    • Slippery surface: Some people find the slippery texture of silk uncomfortable or impractical.

Overall, silk bedding offers a range of potential benefits for comfort, health, and beauty. However, the high cost and delicate care requirements make it an investment.

How Mulberry Silk is Graded

Mulberry silk, the highest quality silk on the market, is graded using a system that takes into account several factors:

Letter Grade (A, B, C):

    • Grade A: This is the highest quality, featuring long, continuous silk strands, minimal impurities, and a pearly white color with a healthy sheen.
    • Grade B: This grade has shorter silk strands, slightly more impurities, and a less luminous sheen. It’s still considered good quality for various uses.
    • Grade C: This grade has the shortest strands, more impurities, and a duller appearance. It’s generally used for industrial purposes or blended with other materials.

Number Grade (2A, 3A, 4A, etc.):

    • Within each letter grade, a further number differentiation provides even more granularity. The higher the number, the higher the quality within that specific grade.
    • For example, 6A mulberry silk is the absolute finest quality available, boasting the longest strands, fewest impurities, and most luxurious sheen.

Additional factors:

    • Momme weight: This indicates the density of the silk, ranging from lightweight (8-16 momme) to heavier (22-25 momme).
    • Color consistency: Uniformity in color is another indicator of quality, with uneven dye application suggesting lower grades.
    • Chemical treatment: Some silk might undergo chemical treatments for specific purposes, which can affect its natural properties and quality.

Here are some additional points to keep in mind:

    • Grading systems might vary slightly between different countries or manufacturers.
    • Not all sellers clearly specify the grade of their mulberry silk. Be sure to ask or look for specific certifications to ensure you’re getting the quality you expect.
  • Price often reflects grade, with higher grades commanding a premium.

Understanding Momme

In the world of silk, momme (pronounced “moh-mee”) is a unit of measurement used to indicate the weight or density of the fabric. It essentially tells you how much silk is packed into a specific area, just like thread count does for cotton.

Think of it like this: the higher the momme count, the thicker and heavier the silk fabric will be. Here’s a breakdown:

    • Lightweight silks: 8-16 momme. These are sheer and delicate, perfect for scarves, lingerie, and summer pajamas.
    • Medium-weight silks: 19-22 momme. This is a popular choice for bedding and sleepwear, offering a nice balance between comfort and breathability.
    • Heavyweight silks: 25+ momme. These are the most luxurious and opaque, ideal for winter clothing, formal wear, and upholstery.

Here’s a handy conversion table to get a better idea of what different momme weights mean:

Momme WeightGrams per Square MeterOunces per Square Yard
8351
16702
19822.5
22953
251083.5

Ultimately, the best momme weight for you depends on your personal preferences and what you’ll be using the silk for. If you’re looking for something light and airy, go for a lower momme count. If you want something more substantial and luxurious, choose a higher momme count.

Is Silk Bedding Right for You?

While silk bedding offers numerous benefits for various sleepers, it particularly shines for certain types:

Hot Sleepers:

    • Silk’s natural breathability wicks away moisture and regulates temperature, keeping you cool throughout the night.
    • Its smooth surface minimizes friction, reducing hot spots and allowing cool air to circulate.

Sensitive Sleepers:

    • Silk is naturally hypoallergenic and dust mite resistant, ideal for those with allergies or skin sensitivities.
    • Its gentle texture minimizes irritation and itching, ensuring a more comfortable sleep.

Combination Sleepers:

    • Silk’s adaptability accommodates frequent position changes. Its smooth surface allows you to easily move without getting caught or tangled.
    • Its temperature regulation benefits both warm and cool phases you might experience as a combination sleeper.

Luxury Seekers:

    • The unparalleled softness and smooth texture of silk create a luxurious sleep experience.
    • The sheen and drape of silk bedding add a touch of elegance and sophistication to your bedroom.

However, silk might not be ideal for everyone:

    • Those on a budget: Silk is a premium material, making the bedding significantly more expensive than other options.
    • Cold Sleepers: While silk can adapt to some temperature changes, it might not be warm enough for individuals who typically feel cold at night.
  • Restless Sleepers: If you toss and turn excessively, the slippery nature of silk might disrupt your sleep further.

Tempur-Pedic Sleep Mask Review

Tempur-Pedic Sleep Mask

The Tempur-Pedic Sleep Mask is a popular sleep mask made with the same TEMPUR material found in their mattresses. It’s designed to be comfortable and effective at blocking out light, so you can get a good night’s sleep anywhere.

Here are some of the key features of the Tempur-Pedic Sleep Mask:

    • Made with TEMPUR material: This material is known for its conforming properties, which means it molds to your face for a custom fit. This helps to create a light-blocking seal around your eyes, without putting any pressure on them.
    • Adjustable strap: The mask has an adjustable strap with a Velcro closure, so you can find the perfect fit for your head.
    • Compact and lightweight: The mask is small and lightweight, making it easy to travel with.
    • Cool to the touch: The TEMPUR material is designed to stay cool to the touch, even on hot nights.

Here are some of the pros and cons of the Tempur-Pedic Sleep Mask, as reported by users:

Pros:

    • Very comfortable and effective at blocking out light
    • Stays cool to the touch
    • Adjustable strap ensures a good fit
    • Comes in a variety of colors

Cons:

    • Can be a bit expensive
    • Some people find it too heavy
    • Not washable

Overall, the Tempur-Pedic Sleep Mask is a well-reviewed product that can be a good option for people who are looking for a comfortable and effective sleep mask. However, it’s important to consider the price and potential weight before making a purchase.

Here are some additional things to keep in mind:

    • The Tempur-Pedic Sleep Mask is available in one size, but it is designed to fit most head sizes.
    • The mask is not machine washable, but it can be spot cleaned with a damp cloth.

Tempur Pedic Sleep Mask Complaints

While the Tempur-Pedic Sleep Mask boasts many positive reviews, it’s not without its downsides. Here are some common complaints users have mentioned:

Comfort:

    • Bulkiness and weight: Some users find the mask too thick and heavy, causing discomfort on the face and pressure points on the head, especially when sleeping on their back. The velcro closure can also be bulky and irritating.
    • Facial pressure: The conforming nature of the TEMPUR material can feel too heavy or constricting for some, causing pressure on the eyes, cheekbones, and nasal bridge.
    • Roughness: Some users find the inner fabric rough against their skin, especially under the eyes.

Fit:

    • One-size-fits-all: While designed for most head sizes, the single size doesn’t guarantee a perfect fit for everyone. It can be too loose for some and too tight for others, leading to light leakage and discomfort.
    • Side sleepers: The mask might not mold perfectly to the face when sleeping on the side, allowing light leakage and potentially displacing the mask.

Other issues:

    • Heat: The thick material can trap heat and feel uncomfortable in hot weather.
    • Durability: Some users report issues with the velcro straps losing their adhesiveness or the fabric showing wear and tear over time.
    • Price: The Tempur-Pedic Sleep Mask is more expensive than many other sleep masks on the market, which can be a deterrent for some users.

Here are some additional things to consider:

    • User experiences can vary greatly, so not every complaint will apply to everyone.
    • Reading reviews from users with similar facial features or sleeping positions can be helpful in determining if the mask might be a good fit for you.
  • Tempur-Pedic offers a one-year warranty on the mask, so you can always try it out and return it if you’re not satisfied.

Mattress Stores: Discover the Best Exclusive Options Now

Best mattress stores

There is no dearth of choices when buying mattresses, online or offline. You have the option of visiting your local brick-and-mortar stores. Alternatively, there’s always the choice to sit back and order online. Be warned, there are dozens of brands, and hundreds of stores and that can be confusing to figure out best mattress store. Where do you get the best deal or the mattress of your choice? Read on. This guide should help.

If you live in the San Diego metro area, check out the Yawnder San Diego mattress showroom to try the most popular online brands and get exclusive discounts and offers.

What Factors Matter?

  • Right off the bat, one must say that the word “best” is not very defining but encompasses various parameters such as returns, customer service, prices, delivery and brands. For example, if you are looking for specialist brands or types of mattresses, the best store may not have it in stock. As can be seen, most stores sell popular and fast-moving brands like Sealy, Seta, Tempur-Pedic, Stearns and Foster and Simmons.
  • For some people, returns may be the most important thing. You may buy a mattress online based on its looks, but you will find it uncomfortable. If you have the ease of free returns and a full refund or free exchange you will rate that store to be the best above others that charge processing fees. Mattresses may be good for 3 months after which they are likely to develop hollows due to body weight, and you feel like returning it. In this case, sellers that offer an extended trial period may be to your liking.
  • Then again you may be the type that likes to buy top quality mattresses, and you look for the lowest price. In this case, the store that offers the lowest price with free doorstep delivery is potentially the best for you.
  • A mattress is not something you can tuck under your arm and carry home. Therefore, if you shop at a local brick and mortar store, you want a store that has both varieties in types of mattress and various brands in addition to free delivery. If you find a store in your neighbourhood that satisfies these criteria, then it is the best for you.

Store Numbers:

  • There are more than 9,200 mattress stores in the United States, though the exact number might fluctuate due to store openings and closures.
  • Larger chains like Mattress Firm experienced store closures in 2023, while online mattress sales continue to rise. This suggests a shift in the retail landscape.

Once You are At the Best Mattress Store, How Do You Shop There?

The amount of time people spend mattress shopping can vary greatly depending on several factors, including:

Individual needs and preferences: Someone with specific requirements or a complex sleep situation might spend more time researching and trying out mattresses than someone with simpler needs.

Budget: People on tighter budgets might need to compare prices more carefully and explore more options, potentially taking longer to decide.

Shopping style: Some prefer quick and decisive purchases, while others enjoy doing extensive research and visiting multiple stores before making a choice.

Availability of information: With easy online access to reviews and comparisons, people might spend less time in physical stores but longer researching online.

Here’s a rough estimate of possible timeframes:

  • 2-4 weeks: This is a common timeframe for people who actively research, visit stores, and try out different mattresses before making a decision.
  • Shorter duration (a few days to a week): This might be the case for those with simpler needs, limited budgets, or impulse purchases.
  • Longer duration (months or more): People with complex needs, indecisiveness, or limited physical access to stores might take longer to choose.

Additionally, consider these factors that can influence shopping time:

  • Seasonality: Sales and promotions might attract more shoppers and extend the decision-making process.
  • Availability of in-store consultations: Talking to sleep experts can provide valuable insights but add to the overall time spent.
  • Trial periods: Offering trial periods allows people to test the mattress at home, potentially extending the overall timeframe.

Tips for efficient mattress shopping:

  • Define your needs and budget: Knowing what you want and how much you can spend helps narrow down options.
  • Do online research: Read reviews, compare features, and explore brands before visiting stores.
  • Use trial periods: Test the mattress at home before committing to the purchase.
  • Seek expert advice: Consult sleep specialists or salespeople for personalized recommendations.
  • Don’t rush the decision: Take your time to find the perfect mattress for your needs and comfort.

Mlily ChiroPro Mattress Review

mlily chiropro

Endorsed by the International Chiropractors Association, the ChiroPro mattress from Mlily stands at a robust 13 inches, showcasing an impeccable construction that has garnered it considerable attention in the sleep industry. This mattress employs a rigorous memory foam which effortlessly contours to the body throughout the night. Notably, it also integrates a cooling feature that effectively moderates temperatures, promising an uninterrupted and rejuvenating night’s sleep.

Construction of the ChiroPro Firm

Cooling Knit Fabric Cover

This cover not only breathes, but the air flow creates a cooling sensation keeping you comfortable while you sleep. This highly advanced fabric stays cool-to-the-touch due to its superior breathability and temperature regulating properties that move heat away from the body.

Gel AeroFusion™ Memory Foam

This memory foam is generously infused with a cooling gel. It keeps all of the positive properties of memory foam, like contouring and conforming to the sleeper, while mitigating temperature issues with the gel infusion.

Gentle Flex-Foam

Our foam layer is designed to offer the perfect balance between comfort and support, ensuring a restful and restorative sleep every night. The firm feel of the foam conforms to your body, providing the ideal level of support to reduce pressure points and prevent aches and pains.

Flex Support Foam

This foam is often used as part of our base support top layer to seal in our Individually Pocketed Spring system in our Hybrid lines. This foam is flexible and durable, allowing for the other more specialized foams above it to shine while it supports from below.

Hybrid Base Foam with Individually Pocketed Springs

We alternate the Individually Pocketed Springs into seven separate zones with different support levels to match the different areas of the body. This offers better support in the areas that carry your weight while still conforming in the areas where more pressure is needed.

Flex Support Base Foam

The ChiroPro has phase change material in the cover with cooling foams underneath to keep you sleeping cool all night long.

My ChiroPro Review

In an era where health and wellness are paramount, leading bedding producer Mlily USA is unveiling a groundbreaking collection focusing on spinal health. Endorsed by the prestigious International Chiropractors Association, this revolutionary lineup aims to tackle the ubiquitous issue of back pain stemming from subpar mattresses.

Prioritizing Back Health with the ChiroPro Hybrid

Mlily USA is making a mark with its 13-inch ChiroPro hybrid, meticulously crafted to bolster back health. This premium mattress is born from a dedication to resolving the widespread complaints about back pain attributed to outdated or inferior mattresses.

Available in plush and firm variants, the ChiroPro hybrid is built with several layers of comfort and support, incorporating both gel and soft flex foams. Additionally, it features an individual pocketed coil unit, engineered to conform to the body and facilitate airflow.

The plush model of the ChiroPro hybrid is equipped with a unique three-zoned coil unit, delivering varying support levels to the head and shoulders, hips, and legs.

I recommend the ChrioPro Firm for Stomach and Back sleepers whereas the ChiroPro Plush is best suited forsidel sleepers. While this mattress is a bit more expensive than some of the other Mlily offerings, the feel justifies the price. A queen size currently retails for $2,450 but we are offering this at 25% off through Yawnder.

If you want a firmer mattress, check out the Mlily Wellflex 1.0 which is currently the firmest of the Mlily line. If you want to go more plush than the ChiroPro Plush, I would take a look at the new Mlily Onyx Plush which just debuted in 2023.

Should You Trust Chriopractor Recommended Mattresses? Some Thoughts.

While I really enjoy the feel of the Mlily ChiroPro, I wouldn’t buy it solely on the recommendation of a Chiropractor.

In the world of chiropractic care, it’s not uncommon to come across chiropractors who recommend specific mattresses to their patients. However, consumers should approach these recommendations with a healthy dose of skepticism for several reasons.

  1. Financial Incentives: Some chiropractors may have partnerships with mattress companies, meaning they could receive a commission for every mattress they sell. This creates a potential conflict of interest that could cloud their judgment and lead them to recommend a mattress that may not be the best fit for a particular patient.

  2. Lack of Expertise: While chiropractors are trained to diagnose and treat musculoskeletal issues, they are not necessarily experts in the field of sleep science. Therefore, their recommendations may be based on anecdotal evidence rather than scientific research.

  3. Individual Needs: When it comes to mattresses, there is no one-size-fits-all solution. Factors like body weight, sleeping position, and personal preferences all play a role in determining the ideal mattress for an individual. Chiropractors may not be able to take all these variables into account when recommending a mattress.

  4. Overemphasis on Alignment: Chiropractors often emphasize spinal alignment as a key factor in choosing a mattress. While proper alignment is important, it’s not the only factor that contributes to a good night’s sleep. Other factors, such as temperature regulation, motion isolation, and comfort, are equally important.

  5. Lack of Long-Term Studies: The mattress industry is rife with marketing claims that are not backed by scientific research. As a result, there is a lack of long-term studies on the benefits of specific mattresses, making it difficult for chiropractors or anyone else to definitively recommend one type of mattress over another.

While a chiropractor’s recommendation for a mattress may be well-intentioned, it is important to approach such suggestions with skepticism. Consumers should do their own research, take into account their individual needs and preferences, and consult with a sleep specialist or a medical professional with expertise in sleep disorders, if needed.

Mattresses Similar to the Mlily ChiroPro

If you’re looking for a mattress that is similar to the Mlily ChiroPro, here are a few options to consider:

    • Saatva Zenhaven: This hybrid mattress is similar to the Mlily ChiroPro in terms of its feel and construction. It has a Euro top layer that provides pressure relief, and a pocketed coil core that provides support. The Saatva Zenhaven also has a cooling cover that helps to keep you cool at night.
    • Avocado Green Mattress: This latex hybrid mattress is a good option for eco-conscious shoppers. It is made with organic latex and wool, and it is certified by OEKO-TEX Standard 100. The Avocado Green Mattress is also quite firm, so it may be a good option for back and stomach sleepers.
      Image of Avocado Green Mattress
Nectar Premier Mattress: This memory foam mattress is a good option for budget-minded shoppers. It is made with gel-infused memory foam, which helps to keep you cool at night. The Nectar Premier Mattress also has a 365-night sleep trial, so you can try it out before you commit to buying it.
    • Image of Nectar Premier Mattress

These are just a few of the many mattresses that are similar to the Mlily ChiroPro. When choosing a mattress, it is important to consider your own needs and preferences. Think about how you sleep, what kind of support you need, and how much you are willing to spend. It is also a good idea to try out a few different mattresses before making a decision.

Honeydew Sleep is a family-owned, California based company that sells innovative pillows that are made with some of the best materials available. I first met the founders of Honeydew 3 years ago and they truly are a family-run enterprise. They have been working in the sleep space for over 30 years and Honeydew represents their response to customer demand for a quality pillow.

By working directly with customers and listening to their needs in a pillow, Honeydew Sleep has produced a solid lineup of pillows that should have near-universal appeal.

Overview of the Honeydew Scrumptious and Essence Pillows

Here’s a video overview of the two pillows and the differences between the two.

Your pillows arrive in a box with attractive packaging.

It includes instructions maintenance and how to get the most out of your pillow.

The pillow is vacuum-sealed and rolled to save space. It inflates quickly and is ready to use right away. You also get a couple of pillowcases that are made from a bamboo fiber for a silky and breathable feel.

honeydew box contents

These pillows come with a 60-day trial which means you get to test it out for about 2 months to see if it’s a good fit. If you don’t like it, it’s a free return. If you decide to keep it, you a covered by a 3-year warranty that covers any defects in materials or workmanship, not normal wear and tear.

How Much Do Honeydew Pillows Cost?

Currently, the Scrumptious pillow retails for $99 while the Essence pillow retails for $79.

Construction of the Honeydew Pillow

Here you can see what’s inside the pillow. This pillow is made from cut foam and polyester fibers. These materials are becoming more common in high-end pillows because that mix is so comfortable and customizable. If you want a thinner pillow, simply pull some out and store it in a Ziploc bag for later use.

Although these materials are common, it is clear that Honeydew is using premium foam and it is cut in a consistent diamond pattern in small pieces. This gives the pillow a consistent feel, no lumps, and better contouring.

My Honeydew Pillow Findings

People who have broad shoulders should go with the Scrumptious model over the Essence. Inside they use the same materials but the Scrumptious as a gusseted edge making it thicker while the Essence has a knife-edge design for people that want a lower profile.

Honeydew pillow comparison

Both pillows I received have a shoulder cut out which is ideal for side sleeping. Honeydew also makes a standard shaped pillow.

honeydew 4

Because of the unique design, you get custom shaped pillowcases that will curve towards the bottom. In a pinch you can always use a standard pillowcase, it really won’t take away from the feel.

honeydew pillowcase

Both the pillowcase and the pillow have zippers. Having a zipper on the pillowcase ensures that it won’t come loose from the pillow. The pillowcases you receive have a silky feel and are very breathable. You can choose the color below or white.

My Honeydew Recommendation

While there are pillows similar to Honeydew, I haven’t come across one that is this affordable. The side sleeper pillows I tried are truly unique and I strongly recommend them for dedicated side sleepers that may have neck or shoulder pain. Neck and shoulder pain are often indicative of a pillow not providing adequate support. Because the pillows are customizable, breathable, and affordable, they should be one of your first considerations. If you don’t like them you can always return them for a full refund within the trial period.

Shop Honeydew

The Honeydew Scrumptious Side Sleeping Pillow is a great option for side sleepers who are looking for a supportive and comfortable pillow. It’s made with a shredded memory foam fill that conforms to your head and neck, and it has a curved design that cradles your shoulders. It’s also hypoallergenic and machine-washable.

Here are a few other pillows that are similar to the Honeydew Scrumptious Side Sleeping Pillow:

    • Coop Home Goods Eden Cool+ Cut-Out Pillow: This pillow is also made with shredded memory foam, but it has a unique cooling gel feature that helps to keep you cool at night. It also has a shoulder cut-out design that provides additional support for your shoulders.
Image of Coop Home Goods Eden Cool+ CutOut Pillow
    • Casper Hybrid Pillow: This pillow is a hybrid of latex foam and fiberfill, which gives it a unique feel that is both soft and supportive. It also has a cooling cover that helps to keep you cool at night.
    • Purple Harmony Pillow: This pillow is made with Purple’s signature Grid Hex material, which is a unique polymer that is both soft and supportive. It also has a breathable mesh cover that helps to keep you cool at night.
      Image of Purple Harmony Pillow

Ultimately, the best pillow for you will depend on your individual preferences. I recommend trying out a few different pillows to see which one you like best.

Here are some additional factors to consider when choosing a pillow:

    • Sleeping position: Side sleepers need a different type of pillow than back or stomach sleepers.
    • Fill material: Memory foam, latex foam, and down alternative are all popular pillow fill materials. Each has its own unique advantages and disadvantages.
    • Loft: The loft of a pillow is its height. You should choose a pillow that is the right loft for your sleeping position.
  • Firmness: Pillows come in a variety of firmness levels. You should choose a pillow that is the right firmness for you.

Joe Rogan’s Best Must-Have Mattresses

Joe Rogan

Joe Rogan recommends a wide variety of products on his show, The Joe Rogan Experience. They often fall into a few main categories:

Health and Fitness:

    • Supplements: He’s a big proponent of taking a variety of supplements for health and cognitive function, particularly his own brand, Onnit. Some popular examples include Alpha BRAIN, New MOOD, and a multivitamin stack.
    • Fitness equipment: He’s a huge fan of kettlebells and recommends them for strength training. He also frequently mentions the Whoop Strap, a fitness and recovery tracker.
    • Nutrition: He often talks about the benefits of elk meat as a healthy protein source, and advocates for consuming wild game in general. He’s also discussed experimenting with ketone supplements.

Mental Performance:

    • Nootropics: Beyond his own Alpha BRAIN, he’s recently become a big fan of Neuro Gum, which contains nootropics for improved focus and cognitive function.
    • Sauna and cold therapy: He regularly highlights the benefits of these practices for overall health and wellbeing.

Other Products:

    • Kill Cliff Energy Drinks: He has his own flavor collaboration with Kill Cliff and often promotes them on the show.
    • MeUndies Underwear: He’s an investor in this comfortable underwear brand and has spoken about them a few times.

Podcast Sponsors:

It’s also worth noting that some products he talks about are part of The Joe Rogan Experience’s sponsorships. These include cbdMD (CBD products), Athletic Greens (drink mix), and Cash App.

Important Disclaimer:

While Joe Rogan may share his personal experiences and perspectives on these products, it’s always important to do your own research before trying anything new. Consult with a healthcare professional before taking any supplements or making significant changes to your diet or exercise routine.

Mattresses Mentioned on the Joe Rogan Show

To be honest, there aren’t many specific mattress brands that Joe Rogan explicitly recommends on his show. He focuses more on general sleep hygiene tips and the importance of quality sleep for overall health and well-being.

However, there have been a couple of instances where he’s mentioned mattresses in passing:

    • Purple Mattress: In a 2019 episode with comedian Tom Segura, Rogan briefly mentioned that he’s slept on a Purple Mattress and found it to be comfortable.
    • Saatva Mattress: In a 2021 episode with comedian Andrew Schulz, Rogan mentioned that he’s familiar with Saatva Mattresses and acknowledged their popularity.

It’s important to remember that these are just brief mentions and shouldn’t be taken as an endorsement of either brand.

Ultimately, the best way to find a mattress that’s right for you is to do your own research and try out a few different options. Consider factors like your budget, sleeping style, and any specific needs you may have. You can also read online reviews and compare prices before making a decision.

Here are some additional tips for choosing a mattress:

    • Spend some time trying out different mattresses in person. This will give you a chance to feel how they feel and see if they’re comfortable for you.
    • Don’t be afraid to ask questions. The salesperson at the mattress store should be able to help you find a mattress that’s right for you.
    • Consider your budget. Mattresses can range in price from a few hundred dollars to several thousand dollars. Decide how much you’re willing to spend before you start shopping.
    • Read online reviews. This can give you a good idea of what other people think of different mattresses.
  • Compare prices. Once you’ve found a few mattresses that you like, compare prices before you make a decision.
Saatva Classic

Besides mattresses, Joe Rogan has mentioned various sleep products on his show, The Joe Rogan Experience. Here are some notable ones:

Temperature Regulation:

    • Eight Sleep: This smart mattress uses similar technology to the ChiliPad, offering temperature control and other features like sleep tracking and personalized sleep programs. Rogan has interviewed Eight Sleep co-founder Matteo Franceschetti and endorsed their products.

Light Blocking:

    • Blackout curtains: Blocking out light as much as possible is crucial for quality sleep. Rogan has emphasized the importance of blackout curtains for creating a dark sleep environment.
    • Sleep masks: Rogan has also mentioned using sleep masks to block out light and promote relaxation for sleep.

Relaxation and Sleep Aids:

    • Magnesium: This mineral plays a vital role in relaxation and sleep. Rogan often recommends magnesium supplements, particularly magnesium glycinate, as part of his “sleep cocktail” for promoting better sleep.
    • Weighted blankets: These blankets apply gentle pressure, simulating a hug, which can be calming and promote relaxation for sleep. Rogan has mentioned using and recommending weighted blankets on the show.

Sleep Routines Mentioned on the Joe Rogan Show

The Joe Rogan Experience has explored various sleep routines and techniques throughout its episodes. Here are some notable ones:

General Tips:

    • Optimize your sleep environment: This includes maintaining a cool, dark, and quiet bedroom, minimizing screens before bed, and having a regular sleep schedule.
    • Prioritize sunlight exposure: Get a good dose of natural sunlight in the morning to regulate your circadian rhythm.
    • Implement a wind-down routine: Allow for gradual relaxation before bed, through activities like reading, taking a warm bath, or light stretching.
    • Avoid caffeine and alcohol close to bedtime: These substances can disrupt sleep patterns.
    • Engage in regular exercise: Physical activity can improve sleep quality, but avoid strenuous workouts too close to bedtime.
    • Experiment with relaxation techniques: Meditation, deep breathing, and progressive muscle relaxation can help quiet the mind and promote sleep.

Specific Routines:

    • The Huberman Protocol: Dr. Andrew Huberman recommends a routine involving cold exposure, breathwork, and light therapy to optimize sleep and mood.
    • The “Sleep Cocktail”: Rogan and guests often mention a pre-bed cocktail of magnesium, L-theanine, and other nutrients to promote relaxation and sleep.

    • Digital Detox: Disconnecting from electronic devices for a period before bed can minimize screen time’s negative impact on sleep.
    • Early to Bed, Early to Rise: Maintaining a consistent sleep schedule, even on weekends, can help regulate your circadian rhythm and improve overall sleep quality.

Remember:

    • These are just examples, and the best sleep routine is the one that works for you.
    • Consistency is key, so try your chosen routine for several weeks to see how it affects your sleep.
  • Consult a healthcare professional if you experience persistent sleep problems.

Best Sleep Recliners

zecliner3

What is a Sleep Recliner?

A sleep recliner is a type of armchair that goes beyond reclining into a near-horizontal position, essentially functioning as both a chair and a bed. They come in various styles and features, but generally offer more adjustability and support than a standard recliner, making them suitable for sleeping or lounging for extended periods.

Here are some key characteristics of sleep recliners:

    • Full Reclining: Unlike regular recliners that typically stop at around 135 degrees, sleep recliners can recline almost flat (around 170 degrees or more) to provide a comfortable sleeping surface.
    • Adjustable Legrest: The legrest independently extends and retracts, allowing you to find the perfect position for your legs and feet.
    • Lumbar Support: Many sleep recliners have built-in lumbar support to maintain proper spinal alignment and prevent back pain.
    • Additional Features: Some models offer advanced features like massage functions, heat or cooling capabilities, USB ports for charging devices, and cup holders.

Here are some of the benefits of using a sleep recliner:

    • Improved Sleep: The reclined position can help alleviate acid reflux, sleep apnea, and back pain, leading to a more restful sleep.
    • Comfort and Relaxation: The adjustable features and padding allow you to find the perfect position for relaxation and watching TV.
    • Space Saving: A sleep recliner can be a good option for small apartments or studios where space is limited, as it combines the functionalities of a chair and a bed.
    • Post-Surgery Recovery: The reclining position can be helpful for recovering from surgery or injuries that make it difficult to get in and out of bed.

However, there are also some potential drawbacks to consider:

    • Cost: Sleep recliners can be more expensive than standard recliners due to their additional features and adjustability.
    • Not a Replacement for a Bed: While some people sleep comfortably in a recliner every night, they may not provide the same level of support and comfort as a proper mattress.
    • Size and Weight: Sleep recliners are generally larger and heavier than regular recliners, making them less portable.

Overall, sleep recliners can be a good choice for people who want a comfortable and versatile piece of furniture for relaxation, sleep, or post-surgery recovery. However, it’s important to consider your needs and budget before making a purchase.

Benefits of using a sleep recliner:

Health:

    • Improved breathing: The elevated position can ease sleep apnea and snoring by keeping airways open.
    • Reduced acid reflux: Gravity helps keep stomach contents down, alleviating heartburn and GERD discomfort.
    • Back pain relief: The adjustable angles and lumbar support can improve spinal alignment and alleviate back pain.
    • Improved circulation: Legs elevated above the heart can benefit circulation, especially for those with circulatory issues.

Comfort and convenience:

    • Adjustable for individual needs: Different users can find their perfect position for reading, watching TV, or sleeping.
    • Multifunctional: Saves space by combining a chair and bed in one.
    • Easier to get in and out of: Especially helpful for seniors or those with mobility limitations.
    • Additional features: Some models offer massage, heat, and other comfort enhancing functionalities.

Other benefits:

    • Recovery: Reclined position can aid post-surgery or injury recovery.
    • Relaxation: Great for unwinding and promoting overall well-being.

Why some people choose a sleep recliner over a mattress:

    • Specific health conditions: For people with sleep apnea, GERD, or severe back pain, a recliner can offer significant relief unavailable on a flat mattress.
    • Space constraints: Smaller living spaces benefit from multifunctional furniture like a sleep recliner.
    • Personal preference: Some individuals simply find recliners more comfortable for sleeping or relaxing than traditional mattresses.
    • Temporary solution: Recliners can be a good option for short-term needs, like guest room or post-surgery recovery.

It’s important to note that sleep recliners may not be a suitable replacement for a mattress for everyone. They lack the full support and pressure relief of a good quality mattress, and prolonged use might not provide optimal sleep for all individuals.

Key features of a sleep recliner:

Reclining capabilities:

    • Full reclination: Goes nearly flat (around 170 degrees) for a comfortable sleeping surface.
    • Independent legrest: Extends and retracts separately for leg comfort and support.
    • Footrest: Provides additional leg elevation and relaxation.

Comfort and support:

    • Plush cushioning: Offers pressure relief and comfort in various positions.
    • Lumbar support: Built-in or adjustable padding to maintain proper spinal alignment.
    • Headrest: Provides neck support and relaxation.
    • Armrests: Padded and positioned for comfort while sitting or reclining.

Adjustable features:

    • Power controls: Makes reclining and legrest adjustments effortless.
    • Heat and massage: For therapeutic relaxation and muscle soothing.
    • Zero-gravity positioning: Elevates legs and slightly reclines back for optimal comfort.
    • USB ports: Convenient for charging devices while relaxing.
    • Cup holders: Keeps beverages within reach while enjoying the recliner.

Additional features:

    • Lift assist: Helps users stand up from the seated position.
    • Swivel base: Allows for easy turning and adjustment of direction.
    • Heated seats: Provides warmth and comfort on cold days.
    • Cup warmers: Keeps beverages at a pleasant temperature.
    • Storage compartments: Convenient for storing books, remote controls, or other essentials.

Material and construction:

    • Durable frame: Ensures stability and support for long-term use.
    • High-quality upholstery: Breathable and comfortable, with options for easy cleaning.
    • Various styles and colors: To match your decor and preferences.

Things to consider when choosing a sleep recliner:

    • Your needs and preferences: Consider what features are most important to you, such as reclining capacity, size, and specific adjustments.
    • Budget: Sleep recliners can range in price depending on features and brand.
    • Health conditions: Consult a doctor if you have any health concerns to see if a sleep recliner is suitable for you.
    • Size and weight: Ensure the recliner fits your space and is easy to move around.

By considering these key features and your individual needs, you can choose the perfect sleep recliner for a comfortable and relaxing experience.

    • Adjustable volume and tone allow you to personalize the sound to your preference.
    • 10 volume levels range from a gentle hum to a robust fan sound.
    • Nursery calibration feature ensures safe decibel levels for babies and children.

Features:

    • Easy to use on-device controls for volume and tone.
    • Optional T&N White Noise app for remote control, timers, fade in/out, and dark mode.
    • Compact and portable design makes it perfect for travel or different rooms.
    • Energy-efficient, using up to 98% less energy than a traditional box fan.

User Reviews:

    • The Snooz generally receives positive reviews, with users praising its sound quality, ease of use, and effectiveness in blocking out noise.
    • Some reviewers mention limitations of the app and wish for additional sound options.

Price and Availability:

    • The Snooz typically costs between $100 and $110.
    • It’s available on the Tuft & Needle website, as well as major retailers like Amazon, Target, and Best Buy.

Overall:

The Snooz white noise machine is a well-regarded option for those seeking a natural and effective sleep aid. Its real fan noise, adjustable settings, and user-friendly features make it a popular choice for adults, babies, and anyone looking to improve their sleep quality.

Here are some additional things to consider:

    • If you’re on a budget, there are more affordable white noise machines available.
    • Some people prefer machines with a wider variety of sound options.
  • It’s always a good idea to read reviews before making a purchase.

The Snooz white noise machine’s internal workings are designed to create a consistent and natural “whoosh” sound without the drawbacks of a typical fan. Here’s a breakdown of its key components:

1. Motor and Fan System:

    • A brushless DC motor drives a specially designed fan blade system.
    • The blade shape and airflow path are optimized to produce the signature white noise sound without generating much air movement.
    • This minimizes unwanted cold air blowing and keeps noise levels within safe ranges.

2. Sound Control and Amplification:

    • The fan noise passes through an acoustic chamber tuned to amplify and equalize specific frequencies for the desired white noise spectrum.
    • This controlled environment prevents harsh or unwanted tones from being amplified.
    • Additional electronic components can adjust the volume and tone further.

3. Power and Circuitry:

    • The Snooz uses a power adapter to convert AC power to DC for the motor and internal electronics.
    • Efficient circuitry minimizes energy consumption and heat generation.
    • Some models, like the Snooz Pro, also incorporate Bluetooth connectivity and app control features, requiring additional components and firmware.

4. Housing and Materials:

    • The outer casing is typically made of durable and fire-resistant plastic.
    • Some models feature fabric coverings for aesthetics and improved sound diffusion.
    • The design prioritizes noise containment and minimizes external vibrations for a calmer sleep environment.

Manufacturing Process:

While the exact details of the production process are proprietary, it’s likely to involve:

    • Component sourcing and quality control for individual parts like the motor, fan, and electronic components.
    • Assembly of the internal components within the housing, ensuring proper connections and sound channeling.
    • Testing and calibration of sound output, volume range, and functionality of additional features like timers and app connectivity.
    • Final quality checks and packaging for distribution.

The focus on using a real fan system, optimized airflow, and controlled sound amplification sets the Snooz apart from traditional white noise machines relying on looped recordings. This approach aims to provide a more natural and consistent soundscape for improved sleep quality.

the Snooz white noise machine does have an optional app available for both iOS and Android devices. It’s called the SNOOZ Sound. Sleep. app and you can download it for free from the App Store or Google Play.

While the Snooz machine can be fully operated and customized without the app, using the app unlocks some additional features and benefits that can further enhance your sleep experience:

Remote Control:

    • Adjust the volume and tone of the fan noise from your phone or tablet, eliminating the need to get up and touch the machine itself.

Timers:

    • Set the Snooz to turn on and off automatically at specific times. This is great for creating a sleep routine or ensuring the machine doesn’t run all night.

Fade In/Out:

    • Gently ease into sleep or wake up with gradually increasing or decreasing fan noise. This can be more natural and pleasant than abruptly turning the machine on or off.

Dark Mode:

    • Dim the app’s interface for a more relaxing experience in the dark.

Night Light:

    • Some Snooz models, like the Snooz Pro, include a built-in night light that can be controlled through the app. This can provide a soft glow for navigating your bedroom at night without disrupting your sleep.

Multiple Machines:

    • If you have multiple Snooz machines, you can control them all from the same app, making it convenient to manage the sound environment in different rooms.

Sound Library (Pro model only):

    • The Snooz Pro app also offers a small library of additional nature sounds, like rain or ocean waves, that you can mix with the white noise for a more personalized soundscape.

Overall, the Snooz app is a convenient and free way to get even more out of your Snooz white noise machine. It’s not essential for using the machine, but it can add some extra features and flexibility to your sleep routine.

Snooz Complaints

While the Snooz white noise machine generally receives positive reviews, there are some common complaints you might encounter:

Price: The Snooz is one of the more expensive white noise machines on the market, typically costing between $100 and $110. Some users might find this a barrier to entry, especially compared to simpler and cheaper options.

App Dependence: While some features like volume and tone can be controlled directly on the machine, accessing the full range of functionality, like timers and fade-in/out, requires the SNOOZ Sound. Sleep. app. This might be inconvenient for users who prefer not to rely on their phones or tablets in the bedroom.

Limited Sound Options: Unlike some white noise machines with nature sounds, rain, or ocean waves, the Snooz focuses solely on fan noise. Some users might miss the variety or prefer the calming qualities of natural sounds.

Night Light Brightness: Some users find the built-in night light, available on the Snooz Pro model, to be too dim or not adjustable enough for their needs.

Durability Concerns: A few reviewers have mentioned concerns about the durability of the machine’s controls, particularly the plastic buttons on the top.

Battery Life (Lack thereof): The Snooz needs to be plugged in to work, unlike some portable white noise machines with rechargeable batteries. This might be a limitation for travelers or those who want to use the machine in different locations.

    • Generally, well-made electronics like the Snooz are built to last several years with proper care. Some user reports mention using their Snooz machines for 5+ years without issue.
    • However, the actual lifespan can depend on several factors like:
        • Usage: More frequent use, especially at high volume, can shorten lifespan.
        • Environment: Exposure to extreme temperatures, dust, or moisture can affect longevity.
        • Power fluctuations: Surges or inconsistent power can damage internal components.

Battery vs. Plug-in:

    • Plug-in Snooz models: If you use the Snooz plugged in, the expected lifespan should be longer than battery-powered options.
    • Snooz Go (battery-powered model): The battery itself has a limited lifespan (typically 500-1000 charge cycles) and might need replacement eventually. However, the internal components should also last several years with proper care.

Factors for Replacement:

    • Decreased functionality: Noticeably quieter sound, flickering lights, or malfunctioning buttons could indicate wear and tear.
    • Physical damage: Cracks, scratches, or internal noise may suggest external damage affecting performance.
    • Outdated features: Newer models might offer additional features or improved sound quality you might desire.

Recommendation:

    • To get the best sense of your specific Snooz’s lifespan, consider its age, your usage patterns, and any noticeable issues.
  • If you’re concerned about its longevity, you can reach out to Tuft & Needle customer support for advice or check the warranty information.

Final Thoughts on the Snooz Sound Machine:

Pros:

    • High-quality, non-looping sound: The real fan inside generates natural white noise that’s consistent and pleasant, avoiding repetitive loops that can disrupt sleep.
    • Customizable sound experience: Adjustable volume and tone cater to individual preferences, while additional sound options like pink noise and fan sounds offer variety.
    • Portable and versatile: Compact design makes it perfect for travel and use at home, with optional nightlight adding functionality.
    • Positive user reviews: The Snooz consistently receives high praise for its effectiveness in improving sleep quality.
    • App integration (optional): For those who want it, the free app provides remote control, scheduling, and fade in/out features.

Cons:

    • Price: The Snooz is pricier than some basic white noise machines.
    • Limited features compared to some smart models: No clock, alarm, or nature sounds for some users.
    • Some durability concerns: A few reports of minor issues with the build quality.

Overall:

The Snooz sound machine stands out for its unique, high-quality sound and focus on creating a peaceful sleep environment. Its portability, customizable options, and positive user reviews make it a strong contender for anyone seeking a sound machine to improve their sleep. However, the price tag and lack of certain features might deter some budget-conscious or tech-savvy users.

Endorsement:

If you prioritize natural, non-looping sound and are willing to pay a premium for quality and portability, the Snooz sound machine is an excellent choice. However, if you’re on a tight budget or crave more features, consider exploring other options before making your decision.

Ultimately, the best sound machine is the one that helps you fall asleep faster and stay asleep longer. Weigh the pros and cons of the Snooz against your individual needs and preferences to determine if it’s the right investment for you.

Aizome Bed Sheets Review

Aizome Sheets

Aizome sheets are crafted through a meticulous process that emphasizes using natural materials and traditional techniques. Here’s a breakdown of the key stages:

1. Sourcing Organic Cotton:

    • Aizome uses GOTS-certified organic cotton, ensuring responsible farming practices and no harmful chemicals are used throughout the growth and processing. This cotton boasts superior softness and breathability compared to conventional cotton.

2. Natural Dyeing:

    • Instead of synthetic dyes, Aizome embraces traditional Japanese Aizome dyeing, utilizing medicinal herbs like indigo, nutgall, and madder root. These herbs not only imbue the sheets with unique, vibrant colors but also offer potential therapeutic benefits like promoting relaxation and reducing inflammation.

3. Dyeing Technique:

    • The Aizome process involves repeated immersion and oxidization cycles over several days. Each dip intensifies the color and imbues it deeper into the fabric’s fibers. This painstaking technique creates the characteristically rich and long-lasting hues of Aizome sheets.

4. Weaving and Finishing:

    • The dyed cotton is woven into luxurious fabrics like sateen or percale, offering different levels of smoothness and breathability. No harsh chemicals or finishes are used, preserving the cotton’s natural softness and hypoallergenic properties.

5. Quality Control:

    • Aizome prioritizes quality and sustainability throughout the production process. They partner with experienced dyers in Japan and China, upholding rigorous quality control standards. Additionally, they prioritize eco-friendly practices like water conservation and responsible waste management.

Ultimately, Aizome sheets represent a confluence of nature’s bounty and artisanal craftsmanship. Their commitment to organic materials, traditional techniques, and meticulous quality control sets them apart, offering a unique and potentially beneficial sleep experience.

Aizome is the first bedding company I have come across to incorporate organic cotton and hand-dyed indigo into their sheets. Often it is hard to find organic cotton sheets with vibrant colors because it requires harsh chemicals. Aizome sheets are dyed with indigo which is a plant-based dye that will give your sheets a blue tint. A basic queen size set which includes a top and bottom sheet along with two pillowcases retails for $272.

Overview of Aizome Bedding

Indigo has been around for thousands of years but for the last 100 years, most textiles including jeans are made with synthetic indigo. Synthetic indigo is made with Aniline which doesn’t seem all that great for humans. Natural indigo, on the other hand, seems to be safer and more sustainable. While making natural indigo sheets is more expensive, they look and feel better.

You can order your Aizome sheets directly from the Aizome website. They will arrive in a box like the one below. On the right-hand side is a tag showing what pieces are in the box so you know what you are getting before you open it.

The sheets come in a cloth bag. Mine also came with an origami heart and crane.

You can buy separates such as pillowcases for $49, sheets are $89 for a drawstring or flat and $99 for a duvet cover. It’s nice to see that they don’t overprice the duvet cover.

My Aizome Findings

What you’ll first notice about these sheets is the nice blue color. Not too dark. Just a nice, relaxing blue hue that will look great in any bedroom.

These sheets are soft right out of the box. I also found that after washing them they don’t lose any of the original color so that probably means they don’t bleed much either.

Another distinguishing feature is that the fitted sheets is put together with cords. Most sheets are just hemmed around the corners with an elastic band.

These sheets are not cheap so if they are out of your budget you can buy separates and build your set slowly. If anything, I recommend trying out the pillowcases as that is where you rest your head at night and where you will reap the most benefit. Here’s a picture of the pillowcases.

As you can see, the stitching is very clean and folded into the sheet so it can’t be seen.

My Aizome Bedding Recommendation

Aizome is a truly unique offering among natural sheet brands. Their use of natural indigo isn’t just a nice addition for their story but it actually has a benefit. The graph below shows how Aizome sheets test against conventional sheets with synthetic material.

You get a genuine health benefit from these sheets and just as importantly, they feel super soft! Aizome is so confident you will like their sheets that they offer a 6-month trial. If you still don’t like them you can return them for a refund.
