Bearaby Cotton Napper Review: Original Hands-On Experience Restored
The live Bearaby page had kept current specs but lost much of Yawnder’s original ownership experience, packaging photos and practical observations about the chunky-knit design.
What made Bearaby different
The first thing that stood out was the construction. Instead of hiding glass beads or pellets inside stitched pockets, Bearaby created the weight from very thick knitted yarn itself. That open-knit approach made the blanket look more like an oversized sweater or decorative throw than a conventional weighted blanket.
The blanket we received
Yawnder originally received a Bearaby Tree Napper for review. The Tree Napper used a plant-derived Tencel-style yarn, while the Cotton Napper used organic cotton. Both shared the same chunky-knit concept and open spaces between the loops.

Breathability
The open knit was the biggest practical difference from filled weighted blankets. Air could move directly through the loops, so the blanket felt less sealed-in and bulky. That did not make it weightless or universally cool, but it was noticeably more breathable than many bead-filled designs we had tried.
Size and coverage
Bearaby weighted blankets are intended primarily for one person rather than as an oversized comforter. The dimensions increased somewhat with blanket weight, but even the larger versions were designed more as personal throws than full-bed blankets. That is worth knowing before ordering.
Packaging and finish
The blanket arrived rolled inside a reusable fabric bag rather than buried in disposable plastic. The knit, colors and presentation also made it one of the few weighted blankets from that era that looked intentional when left on a couch or bed.

Our takeaway
The appeal was not simply the amount of weight. Bearaby combined weight, airflow and appearance in a way most traditional weighted blankets did not. The tradeoff is that the open knit and smaller personal-blanket dimensions feel very different from a full-size duvet.

The cotton side gives you the smoother surface, while the faux-fur side is warmer and more plush. That makes Layla more versatile by texture than many bead-filled blankets, but it also means it is not the obvious choice for someone who already sleeps hot.
Weight distribution
Layla uses glass microbeads held inside hexagonal stitched pockets. The purpose of the pockets is to keep fill from migrating into one corner and to maintain a more even pressure pattern across the blanket.
What the old review overstated
Earlier Yawnder copy repeated Layla’s explanation that deep-touch pressure “causes your brain to release serotonin” and said the blanket works for ADHD, anxiety and depression. That was too strong. Current research supports a more modest conclusion: weighted blankets may reduce anxiety symptoms for some people, while results vary and sleep evidence is mixed.

Helix still lists its Knit Weighted Blanket, but the current 15 lb Cream configuration is showing out of stock.
Current status: Helix’s live product page shows the 15 lb Knit Weighted Blanket at $158 after a displayed discount, but the configuration is currently out of stock. The page lists 10 lb and 15 lb versions, a 100% polyester jersey knit construction and a breathable chunky weave.
What changed from the old Yawnder review
The old article covered a completely different bead-filled Helix weighted blanket at $99–$115 and repeated unsupported claims about serotonin, melatonin and anxiety reduction. That product/pricing is no longer the correct current reference.

We tried the green dinosaur and found the weight and feel subjectively comforting. That is a personal-use observation, not a clinical or therapeutic finding.

BlanQuil Weighted Blanket Review: Original Construction & Size Experience Restored

Below are my findings on the Aricove weighted blanket.

The Aricove weighted blanket comes with a canvas bag with a zipper and handles. This makes it easy to store it and travel with it. Weighted blankets are not easy to fold and look messy if you don't fold them just right. It's so much easier to just put this in the bag and zip it closed. It keeps the blanket clean and neat. You also get care instructions and warranty information.

Weighted blankets are basically a commodity these days and you can find them just about anywhere including walmart and target. The main difference from just any weighted blanket and a quality weighted blanket is in the details. With Aricove, you get great packaging and quality material inside as well. The fabric is soft and there is quality stitching throughout so you don't have to worry about frayed seams or filling coming loose.

My Aricove Weighted Blanket Recommendation and Final Thoughts
At first glance there's really nothing revolutionary about this weighted blanket. But after using it compared to other weighted blankets, Aricove really gets the details right. The boxed stitching is small enough where the beads won't shift all that much to give you a much more consistent feel across the blanket.
The bamboo fabric has a soft silky feel and is great for keeping you cool and absorbing moisture so you won't wake up sweaty.

This blanket can be used with a cover. There are 8 loops stitched into the blanket to attach a cover. I would recommend using one if you don't plan to wash the blanket that often. I prefer not to use a cover since they can be cumbersome to attach and remove every time you want to wash it. Instead, I prefer to just wash the whole blanket provided the machine’s capacity and blanket care label allow it.

The following prices and terms are historical. The 10-pound option priced here differs from the 12-pound sample shown in my label photo.
If you purchase the Aricove and don't like it for whatever reason, you have 30 days to return it for a refund. You do need to pay return shipping though which could be a little expensive due to the weight.
Aricove also has a 3 year warranty on their blanket that warrants against any defects or workmanship. Usually it is 1 year.
A 48"x72" , 10 lb. weighted blanket retails for $169.95. That's a really good price compared to others I have seen and especially good given it is made with bamboo and premium stitching.

Choosing the weight
The usual guidance is roughly 10% of your body weight, then round to the nearest available option. For most adults that lands at 15 or 20 lb. Two rules matter more than the arithmetic:
Buy for the person, not the bed. A weighted blanket that spans a king mattress will drag its weight off the sides and onto the floor. Couples who both want one are usually better off with two single-size blankets.
When you are between sizes, go lighter. A blanket that feels pleasant for ten minutes and oppressive at 3 a.m. gets abandoned.
Safety limits worth taking seriously
Weighted blankets are not appropriate for infants and toddlers, or for anyone who cannot reliably push the blanket off themselves — that includes people with significant mobility limits, and anyone with a respiratory or circulatory condition that a clinician has told them to be careful with. Wash the removable cover as often as you would a duvet cover. The weighted insert can usually go in a large machine on a cold, gentle cycle, but a 20 lb blanket soaked with water is heavy enough to strain a domestic washer — a laundromat machine is the safer choice. Air-dry the insert flat where you can; tumble heat degrades the pocket stitching that keeps the beads from migrating, and migrated beads are what turns a weighted blanket lumpy and useless.
Who it suits
It suits someone who wants to find out whether they like weighted bedding without spending premium money, who sleeps in a cool room or picks the bamboo cover, and who sleeps alone or is willing to buy two singles. It suits someone who wants a couch blanket for reading or winding down more than a nightly duvet replacement.
It suits you less if you sleep hot under normal bedding already, if you share a bed and want one blanket to cover both people, or if you want something that looks like a design object.
