The two-sided design is the reason to consider it
The cotton side gives you the smoother surface, while the faux-fur side is warmer and more plush. That makes Layla more versatile by texture than many bead-filled blankets, but it also means it is not the obvious choice for someone who already sleeps hot.
Weight distribution
Layla uses glass microbeads held inside hexagonal stitched pockets. The purpose of the pockets is to keep fill from migrating into one corner and to maintain a more even pressure pattern across the blanket.
What the old review overstated
Earlier Yawnder copy repeated Layla’s explanation that deep-touch pressure “causes your brain to release serotonin” and said the blanket works for ADHD, anxiety and depression. That was too strong. Current research supports a more modest conclusion: weighted blankets may reduce anxiety symptoms for some people, while results vary and sleep evidence is mixed.
Bottom line
Layla is worth considering for its two-sided feel and three weight choices. At the current $134 sale price it is much less expensive than Bearaby. Choose it if you like a warmer plush option; choose an open-knit blanket if airflow is the priority.
