How to use this review
The Purple Hybrid Premier 4, also known as Purple.4, is an older hybrid model. Its defining feature was a four-inch polymer grid over foam and pocketed springs. Our original review and videos below show the 2018 mattress; current Purple models have different designs. No model-specific standardized score or new test results are presented here.

In the original review, Ben described a deep, almost weightless cradle while side sleeping, quick grid recovery and bounce from the springs, with motion transfer well contained in his experience.

What made the Premier 4 different?
Its thick, flexible grid was designed to compress under pressure while the coils provided support underneath. An older retailer listing describes four inches of grid, a foam transition layer and pocketed springs. Construction can vary by production version, so check the label on the actual mattress.

The grid has a distinctive feel compared with slow-response memory foam. Some people like the flexible, buoyant surface; others prefer a more traditional padded top. Thickness alone does not establish pressure relief, cooling, durability or edge support for a particular sleeper.
Is it still available?
Purple’s current lineup uses different model names. An older listing may be out of stock, a floor sample or remaining inventory; confirm the model, condition, production date, seller and warranty eligibility before paying. Do not assume an older Premier 4 is the same product as today’s RestorePremier.
What should you compare today?
Purple currently lists the RestorePremier Hybrid with a three-inch GelFlex Grid and a different coil system. It is a current option to try, not a one-to-one replacement for the four-inch Premier 4. Compare the complete design, firmness, price, return terms and feel in person if possible.
Premier 4 compared with today’s Restore hybrids
Model names are easy to confuse. The current Restore collection has a different construction from the older Premier 4. Purple’s descriptions below are specifications, not Yawnder test scores or a guarantee of how a bed will feel.
| Model | Grid and support | What to know |
|---|---|---|
| Hybrid Premier 4 | 4-inch grid, foam and pocketed springs | Historical model; verify the exact version and condition. |
| Restore | 2-inch GelFlex Grid and coils | Purple describes its feel as medium. |
| RestorePlus | 3-inch GelFlex Grid and zoned coils | Purple describes its feel as medium-soft. |
| RestorePremier | 3-inch GelFlex Grid and CoolFlex coils | Purple describes its feel as soft. |
The thicker grid on the old model does not by itself tell you which mattress will feel softer, cooler or more supportive. Covers, padding and coil designs also affect the experience. If you liked an older Purple bed, try the current options rather than ordering by name alone.
How to try one and check an older listing
Lie in your normal position long enough to notice pressure at your shoulder or hip and whether your midsection feels supported. Change positions, sit on the edge and, if you share the bed, have your partner move beside you. A quick hand press on the grid cannot tell you how the complete mattress will feel overnight.
For remaining inventory, request a photograph of the law tag and confirm the size, production date, whether it is new or a floor model, the foundation requirements, delivery cost and written return and warranty terms. A low price is less attractive if the seller treats the mattress as final sale or the warranty does not transfer.
Trial and return terms
For eligible current mattresses purchased directly from Purple, its published return policy currently gives 100 calendar days from delivery, with at least 21 days of use before a return. The mattress must be clean and undamaged with its law tag attached; deductions can include applicable transportation charges. These are current direct-purchase terms, not a promise for an older Premier 4 or a retailer purchase. Get the applicable terms in writing before ordering.
For current owners
Keep the original receipt and law tag and use the foundation required by the warranty for your model. If the mattress has developed a visible impression or defect, document it and contact the original seller or Purple about the applicable coverage. A warranty covers qualifying defects, not a guaranteed comfort preference.
