Cariloha mattress review: choose model and firmness separately
Cariloha is a comparison candidate if you like a quilted foam-mattress design and want to investigate its viscose-from-bamboo cover. The current buying decision is more specific than “Classic or Resort”: both listings now offer Soft and Firm selections.
Try the selected configuration if possible, and match its current specification before using older review observations. A bamboo-related material name does not establish a complete mattress’s cooling performance or how long it will stay comfortable.

The pages identify their textiles as viscose from bamboo. Confirm the actual cover composition and care label for the delivered product. Classic’s description refers to machine washing while its care section says spot clean only; ask Cariloha to resolve that inconsistency before washing. Never put the foam core in a washing machine.
We have not independently validated the manufacturer’s percentage claims about pressure relief, usable surface area or lifespan. Those figures are not used as Yawnder test findings here.
How the Classic and Resort are built
Both models are built around foam rather than the steel coil support unit found in a typical hybrid. That matters when comparing the feel: foam can conform to the body and absorb movement, but response, heat retention and edge stability depend on the particular layers and firmness. We have not independently measured those characteristics for each current version.
Classic: a lower-profile foam option
Cariloha lists the Classic at 11 inches with a quilted, zippered cover, bamboo-charcoal memory foam, another memory-foam layer, reactive foam and side-wedge support. The company describes flex points for its adjustable base. The practical appeal is a relatively lower profile in the range, with a choice of Soft or Firm; compare each specific version rather than assuming the lower-priced model will fit every sleeper.
Resort: a taller foam build with different components
The 12-inch Resort adds a different combination of comfort and support materials. Cariloha describes a greater volume of its bamboo-charcoal memory foam, an Eco-PUR core, reactive foam, side-wedge support and a perforated Flex-Flow base. More material or a higher layer count is not proof that this mattress will feel better or last longer for a particular person. Compare the same firmness and size, then decide whether the construction difference is worth the price difference.
What about the Retreat?
Cariloha also lists the 13-inch Retreat as a hybrid with foam and coils. It is the more relevant comparison if you want to investigate a spring-based feel rather than an all-foam build. We have not independently tested the current Retreat against the Classic or Resort, and the brand lists it as medium soft. Confirm current options and price on Cariloha’s mattress comparison.
About bamboo and certifications: “Bamboo mattress” does not mean the mattress consists entirely of bamboo. The cover uses viscose derived from bamboo and the foam includes bamboo charcoal; the other layers remain foam or, in the Retreat, coils. Cariloha identifies the foam as CertiPUR-US certified. That certification concerns eligible foam, not an organic certification for the entire mattress.

Sleeper fit: what to test
Side sleepers: Compare shoulder and hip cushioning in the selected firmness, without assuming Resort is automatically softer. Check whether your waist remains supported.
Back and stomach sleepers: Pay attention to pelvis support and how easily you can change position. A Firm label is a starting point for comparison, not a universal fit recommendation.
Couples: Test movement and edge sitting together. The previous article’s promise of undisturbed sleep was too absolute; construction alone does not establish that one partner will never feel the other move.
Hot sleepers: Consider the complete foam construction, bedding and room conditions. We do not have a current controlled temperature test supporting a fixed three-degree cooling advantage.
What foam can mean for couples and combination sleepers
Memory foam generally conforms more slowly than a buoyant spring surface, although the Classic and Resort also list reactive foam. If you move often, roll from your side to your back several times and notice whether the surface makes that easy. Couples should test one person turning while the other lies still; an all-foam construction can limit some motion, but the amount a partner feels depends on the design and the sleepers.
For edge support, sit where you normally put on shoes, then lie near the edge without risking a fall. Cariloha describes a side-wedge system, but we do not have a current independent edge measurement for either firmness. If you need a consistently sturdy seated edge, compare in person when possible.
Cooling and feel in context
A cool-to-the-touch cover is different from a full night’s temperature regulation. Foam may retain warmth differently depending on how deeply you sink, the protector and sheets, and room temperature. The Resort’s perforated base is a design feature; it is not proof of a specific temperature reduction. Hot sleepers should use the trial to evaluate the full setup rather than rely on a numerical cooling claim.
100-night trial, 30-day minimum and warranty
The mattress return policy describes a minimum of 30 days of use, with a return or exchange requested within 100 days from delivery. Each customer can use the sleep trial once. Eligibility must be confirmed before pickup is arranged.
The mattress FAQ limits the trial to the contiguous U.S. Some older guarantee wording lists narrower geographic exclusions, so confirm eligibility for any other destination before ordering. Keep proof of purchase and check seller-specific terms if buying outside the direct site.
Adjustable comfort bases have different restrictions. Opened or used bases are not covered by the mattress comfort trial; ask for the separate base agreement before ordering a bundle.
The 10-year limited mattress warranty describes qualifying indentations greater than three-quarters of an inch and certain material defects. It excludes comfort preference and normal softening, requires proof of purchase and intact law labels, and includes support and care conditions. Confirm the required foundation before reusing an existing frame.

Delivery, foundation and care checklist
Before ordering: Compare the same size and firmness for both models, including delivery, tax, any base and the value of bundled items. A sale price can change, so check the final checkout total and save the order confirmation and applicable policy. A split king is typically two Twin XL mattresses; confirm exactly what the selected offer includes, especially if each side of an adjustable base moves independently.
Support: Cariloha recommends a flat, uniformly solid surface. Its mattress FAQ says a box spring with slats no more than three inches apart, or a quarter-inch plywood surface on top of a box spring, can work. Inspect an existing foundation for flexing, gaps and wear, and ask the seller about the exact setup before relying on an old box spring. An adjustable base must be suitable for the mattress size and load.
Unboxing: The brand says its mattress ships compressed and rolled, normally expands in 24–72 hours and can be used before fully expanded. It also says the mattress must be removed from its box within six months after purchase to preserve warranty eligibility. Open it promptly in the bedroom if possible, let it expand and ventilate the room if the new-foam smell bothers you.
Care: The manufacturer recommends rotating as needed for even wear and says not to flip the mattress: the comfort layers belong on top. Use a protector that fits the 11- or 12-inch profile. For spills, avoid soaking the foam. Because the Classic listing’s cover-laundering instructions conflict, check the sewn-in label and confirm with Cariloha before putting any cover in the washer.
Returns and bundles: Cariloha says promotional items must be returned with a mattress or their full retail value can be deducted from the refund. Keep the receipt and any terms for free gifts, and confirm the return process before the 100-day window ends. Mattress and adjustable-base purchases have separate rules.
Choosing between the two
- Start with Classic if you want the lower-profile foam design and the price difference matters. Select the feel before comparing it with a Resort.
- Consider Resort if the added height and different comfort materials appeal to you and you are comfortable paying the difference after comparing equivalent sizes.

Can I flip the mattress?
No. Cariloha says the comfort layers are designed to face up. Rotate as needed instead.
