Match the mattress generation

An older all-foam Emma, a newer Emma Hybrid and an international Emma Original can describe different constructions. The brand name alone is insufficient for comparing comfort, cover care or price. Ask for the full product name, model identifier and country of sale before relying on an older review.

We have not verified a current U.S. all-foam specification sheet that supports carrying forward the old height, firmness and price figures. Likewise, the previous page’s numerical cooling, motion and durability ratings are not supported by a complete test record attached here and have been removed from the published assessment.

If a retailer offers remaining inventory, request the exact specification, manufacturing information, condition and seller authorization. An unused clearance mattress and a floor sample can have different eligibility for returns and warranty service.

The old 365-night claim is not universal

Emma’s U.S. terms distinguish direct purchases made before February 1, 2025, associated with a 365-night period, from purchases on or after that date, associated with 100 nights. Older banners still mention 365 nights. Use the terms applicable to your actual order.

The returns page describes a 30-day break-in requirement for opened mattresses on qualifying orders, but also retains older trial wording. Confirm your deadline with support and keep the response. A retailer’s own agreement may differ.

If you already own an Emma mattress

Keep your order confirmation, invoice, product labels and photographs of any problem. Start with the original seller and ask which process applies: comfort return, delivery issue or warranty claim. These are different requests and can require different documentation.

My original Nest Silk Cloud review focuses on the feel out of the box, generous king-size coverage and the included cloth storage bag. I recommended using a duvet cover to keep it clean. The Nest Silk Cloud Comforter

I recently received a silk comforter from Nest Bedding for review. Let's just start out by saying you can go crazy with silk. Frette sells their Villa Silk Duvet Filler for $3,100 in a king, and I'm sure it's amazing but you don't need to break the bank to get the benefits of silk. The Nest silk comforter sells for $499 in a king/cal king.

Even if you have a queen size bed, I recommend going with the king size since it will cover more of your bed and you won't have to fight your partner for bedding at night.

When you order through Nest, you package will arrive in a nondescript box and inside it will be wrapped in plastic.

The comforter itself is also wrapped in plastic just in your package gets wet al0ng the way. You also get a nice cloth bag to store the comforter when not in use.

Once opened you can start using it right away, I did not notice an unpleasant smell and it feels great right out of the box. I do recommend a duvet cover to keep it clean though. I recommend a bamboo or Tencel duvet and sheet set to further help regulate temperature and keep you cool.

While there are now endless options for weighted blankets, it's important to consider construction and durability as these blankets by nature are heavy and need to hold up to washing and frequent use. Below are my findings on the Aricove weighted blanket.

The Aricove weighted blanket comes with a canvas bag with a zipper and handles. This makes it easy to store it and travel with it. Weighted blankets are not easy to fold and look messy if you don't fold them just right. It's so much easier to just put this in the bag and zip it closed. It keeps the blanket clean and neat. You also get care instructions and warranty information.

Weighted blankets are basically a commodity these days and you can find them just about anywhere including walmart and target. The main difference from just any weighted blanket and a quality weighted blanket is in the details. With Aricove, you get great packaging and quality material inside as well. The fabric is soft and there is quality stitching throughout so you don't have to worry about frayed seams or filling coming loose.

Machine wash warm at 90F - 110F on a delicate cycle. Dry flat or tumble dry on low heat only.

Use only mild, biodegradable laundry detergent that has no acid or alkali content.

Wash it separately from any other clothing to prevent snagging and damage.

Aricove also makes a weighted blanket for kids. It has the same construction and materials as the original blanketed but is smaller and weighs less so that it is appropriately sized for children's bodies. This review does not describe a firsthand test of the children’s version.

My Aricove Weighted Blanket Recommendation and Final Thoughts

At first glance there's really nothing revolutionary about this weighted blanket. But after using it compared to other weighted blankets, Aricove really gets the details right. The boxed stitching is small enough where the beads won't shift all that much to give you a much more consistent feel across the blanket.

The bamboo fabric has a soft silky feel and is great for keeping you cool and absorbing moisture so you won't wake up sweaty.

This blanket can be used with a cover. There are 8 loops stitched into the blanket to attach a cover. I would recommend using one if you don't plan to wash the blanket that often. I prefer not to use a cover since they can be cumbersome to attach and remove every time you want to wash it. Instead, I prefer to just wash the whole blanket provided the machine’s capacity and blanket care label allow it.

The following prices and terms are historical. The 10-pound option priced here differs from the 12-pound sample shown in my label photo.

If you purchase the Aricove and don't like it for whatever reason, you have 30 days to return it for a refund. You do need to pay return shipping though which could be a little expensive due to the weight.

Aricove also has a 3 year warranty on their blanket that warrants against any defects or workmanship. Usually it is 1 year.

A 48"x72" , 10 lb. weighted blanket retails for $169.95. That's a really good price compared to others I have seen and especially good given it is made with bamboo and premium stitching.

To complete your set you can even buy the Leesa blanket which also is made with the same fabric found of the cover of the mattress. It is cozy and heavy enought for comfort you but not too thick as to make you overheat. Perfect for a couch and late night Netflix binges.

Out of the box you will find that it is wrapped in plastic to protect it from getting dirty in transit. There’s also a nice card that talks about some of the charitable work that the company has done.

My Leesa Pillow Recommendation

I would especially recommend this pillow if you are going to buy a Leesa matttress. It definitely works well with the mattress since they are made of the same materials. Having both the pillow and the mattress gives you a constent feel across your entire body.

If you are going to buy the pillow alone. I recommend it for people looking for a cool pillow that has a little bounce to it. It feels very similar to a soft latex pillow. The inside of the pillow has holes in it to allow for extra breathability.

A microphone that sits on your bedside table and listens for snoring.
An inflatable bladder that sits under your pillow.

When the microphone detects snoring, it sends a signal to the inflatable bladder, which gently raises and lowers your pillow. This helps to change your head position and open up your airway, which can reduce or eliminate snoring.

The Smart Nora snoring device is easy to use and can be used with any pillow and sleeping position. It is also relatively quiet and does not disturb sleep.

Setup is also super quick and easy. It comes with a simple piece of plastic you stick above your bed to hold the Pebble. It even has a command strip already applied.

Comfort

The Smart Nora is one of the most comfortable stop snoring solutions out there. Since there are no mouth guards or nose strips you don’t even notice it until it starts moving. The movement is very subtle and slow. It’s designed to work silently and in the background to minimize disruptions to your sleep. The movement may wake you up while you’re getting used to the product. This is normal and within a week or so you should be back to sleeping soundly.

Customization of the Smart Nora

The Smart Nora allows for personalization by adjusting the sensor’s sensitivity levels. This allows you to customize the sound threshold at which the movement is triggered. It took me a bit of adjusting but I was able to dial it in and account for how noisy my bedroom is at night.

One thing I’d like to note is that it’s better to pay attention to the actual dimensions of the blanket, rather than the name or classification of the size, when it comes to purchasing. Some of their sizing/names don’t seem to line up with traditional bedding sizes so just be aware of this. Look at the actual in/cm provided and not the name.

When it comes to the materials of the Elegear Revolutionary Cooling Blanket, one side is made of 100% cotton and the other side (the cooling side) is made of 80% mica nylon and 20% polyethylene. This mica nylon and polyethylene blend is what gives Elegear’s Arc-Chill Fabric its cooling abilities.

It first wasn’t clear if Arc-Chill was Elegear’s trademark or a separate company all together but I eventually figured it out. I checked out Arc-Chill’s Facebook page and when I clicked the main CTA button to “Learn More,” it redirected me straight to Elegear’s website so yes, Arc-Chill is most likely a trademark of Elegear.

The Elegear fabric is a smart fabric, which requires some care if you want to maintain it and have it last. Excess heat can destroy some fabrics; some textiles just do not belong in a drying machine. So, while it is machine washable, it should be handled as a “delicate,” and it should also be air-dried, and Elegear further emphasizes, preferably “in the shade.”

My Elegear Revolutionary Cooling Blanket Findings

I was completely skeptical about Elegear’s revolutionary cooling blanket. Amazon products can be hit or miss, Elegear doesn’t sound at all like a domestic brand name (because it isn’t) so I didn’t trust it and I wondered how much of its popularity was due to hype. My experience on Amazon has been mostly good, and I would think like most people, I’ve experienced my share of being met with both high-quality and low-quality products when it came time to arrive. It’s probably silly to doubt it so much; they do, after all, have the best customer service experience ever; they don’t even rely on USPS or UPS for their own shipping. They have their own planes, their own trucks! They ship at lightning speed and if you’re unhappy, you can return almost anything and everything. But enough about Amazon for now.

Elegear surprised me in a very positive way. While I was filming the review, I had a difficult time distinguishing how to get the best “experience” and how to best “test” the fabric. Knowing the Q max value and understanding the Q max index intrigued me on an intellectual level but it didn’t answer my questions. After taking a few days away from the product, I eventually figured it out and I realized what everyone else has said: it really is cooling!

If you want to test the fabric, you need to cover a lot of surface area. I tried this out by cloaking it over my bare shoulders and later after laying it down on my bed, and then laying on top of it. Then I really understood and felt the difference. Covering a hand or a piece of your arm probably won’t do it justice and that was my initial mistake. It’s also going to confuse you if you’re covered in a lot of fabric as it is; I got the best impression/effect on bare skin.

I’m glad I didn’t force a decision and come here and proclaim that it’s ineffective because that wouldn’t be true. Elegear’s Revolutionary Cooling Blanket works but it’s also not a block of ice so your expectations should be kept in check. I first suggest understanding just how “cooling” you want it. Maybe sleeping with an ice pack will work for some people but for something more subtle and gentle, and that doesn’t require nearly as much thought, a cooling blanket could do.

My Signature Sleep Findings

Upon initially opening this mattress you will think that it is probably too soft. You need to give it adequate time to come to life though. After 3 days the mattress will firm up considerably. Here’s how much my 14 lb. bowling ball sinks into the mattress. This is a slow sink, meaning that it will slowly conform to you. Some Amazon reviewers describe this as a really nice hug.

This is a two-layer foam mattress with 4 inches of comfort contouring foam on the top layer so you really won’t notice any motion transfer and if you do, I would make sure that it is on a solid foundation. Here’s a quick video illustrating motion transfer on the mattress.

Here’s a look inside the mattress that shows how each layer reacts. It should be noted that there is no phase change cooling material in the top layer and some Amazon reviews note about it sleeping hot. I would say that this is due to the fact that it is a memory foam mattress and people transitioning from a spring to a foam mattress will notice that it does insulate considerably more.

My Signature Sleep Recommendation

Overall this mattress is an awesome value for the money. You would be hard pressed to find a less expensive mattress with this construction. In terms of how it feels, It will feel a bit firm at first but you will slowly sink into it. Another popular Amazon mattress is the Zinus Green Tea mattress which I found to be softer than this mattress. I think this mattress would be a more versatile mattress though and more accommodating to stomach sleepers.

I liked the TEMPUR-Neck Pillow’s slow contouring and appreciated its removable, washable cover. Its shaped, firm feel takes some getting used to. Although I mostly sleep on my stomach, I could see the appeal of the contour for side and back sleepers who like this kind of foam.

I recently received a TEMPUR-Neck Pillow from Tempurpedic for review. This pillow is a classic among the Tempurpedic line. I remember when this was first available in the late 1990s. It was revolutionary in that it veered from the traditional pillow shape and specifically addressed dedicated side sleepers. No doubt this pillow takes some getting used to but it has stood the test of time. The pillow currently retails at $99 for a medium size.

Below is a video of me with the pillow. You'll also get a sense of how the foam reacts and how it will look out of the packaging.

Findings

Although I am mostly a stomach sleeper, I can appreciate how this works for side and back sleepers by giving proper support for your neck while keeping you in alignment.

Here's a quick video of how the pillow reacts. I really like how this pillow slowly contours. That feeling isn't for everyone but Tempurpedic is known for it and it offers excellent pressure relief.

The cover is removable and washable which is a nice feature.

Conclusion

I highly recommend side sleepers who aren't getting good support to try out a neck pillow. Tempurpedic has been making them for decades and their design has stood the test of time. If you're wondering what size to get, they have a nice chart on their website that recommends a size based on your height. Often it seems that people don't have the right loft in their pillow causing their head to get out of alignment.

Getting water on your pillow may sound like the last thing you would want but not in this case. For those in need of some serious neck support and neck pain relief, the Mediflow Waterbase Pillow might interest you. A small study of people with neck pain explored water-based pillows; the research is discussed separately from my setup observations below.

The Mediflow Waterbase Pillow is a polyester pillow with a water base attached on the bottom. Sleep seekers are able to fill the water base to their preferred amount (up to 5 liters of water at a maximum) to reach their desired level of pillow firmness. Mediflow operates within the US and the pillow is also manufactured within the United States. A single pillow retails for $49.99 on Amazon, and a set of 2 retails for $79.99, allowing you to save at least $20. This pillow has a 4 out of 5 star review on Amazon, based on 3,000+ reviews. That being the case, I knew I had to see if the hype was real.

Below is a video unboxing, demo and review of the Mediflow Waterbase Pillow. It has a nice starting point to begin with, in terms of firmness. I would say that without any water at all, that the pillow has a medium firm feel.

My Mediflow Waterbase Pillow Findings

The Mediflow Waterbase Pillow looks like any old pillow until it’s turned to the back, where the water chamber is. Getting acquainted with the technology is a bit of a funny feeling because the concept is so unique.

Opening the cap on the waterbase was easy, and the blue nozzle that comes included in the packaging was actually designed to help in this regard. So for anyone with long nails, or weak hands, fear not.

Mediflow provides you with a flow chart that is meant to serve as a guide on how much water you should be using. I found that the easiest way to fill the pillow was by reusing a 1 liter bottle from an empty bottle of water. A full liter isn’t sufficient enough. You will need at least 2 liters (which is considered to provide soft firmness) to feel any substantial difference.

Pouring water into the waterbase was simple and kind of fun but I do suggest to do this slowly. I ended up with a small spill myself from looking away for just a moment. How you hold the nozzle will dictate how slowly or how quickly the pillow takes the water.

Once you're done pouring your desired amount of water into the water base chamber of the pillow, comes the important step of removing the air pocket. This is pretty important, so as to avoid having both air and water in the pillow- which can cause issues when pressure is being applied to it, like there will be when you’re sleeping on it. When putting the cap back onto the waterbase, it is suggested that you use the blue nozzle to close it and tighten it. They include a diagram with the packaging to show you how to do this most effectively.

My Mediflow Waterbase Pillow Recommendation

The reason I am most impressed with the pillow is because there was actually a clinical study conducted to research the effectiveness of waterbase pillows. The study was published in the Archives of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and can be found on pubmed.gov, a US National Library of Medicine, indexing the published research. That specific study can be found here.

The conclusion of the study entitled “Cervical pain: a comparison of three pillows” found that:

“The water-based pillow was associated with reduced morning pain intensity, increased pain relief, and improved quality of sleep.”

The other two pillows that it was compared to was the subject’s usual pillow and a roll pillow. Below is a screenshot of the actual study conducted:

The study alone made me feel that trying the MediflowWaterbase Pillow would be a wise experiment for someone with cervical pain or general neck tension and stiffness.

Research context: this 1997 five-week crossover study involved 41 people with benign cervical pain. It reported improvements in morning pain and sleep quality with a water-based pillow, but does not establish that everyone will benefit or that a current model will treat a particular condition. The publisher discloses funding and materials from Mediflow. Study details and funding disclosure.

On another note, some online reviews from people who have used the pillow, or are currently using the pillow, mention the possibility of the pillow leaking. This means how you tighten the cap of the waterbase chamber is especially important. Keep in mind to make use of the nozzle that comes with the pillow.

Follow the care label supplied with your pillow for washing, emptying and refilling. The original article’s suggested universal washing and replacement intervals were not supported by the cited study.

Overall, I think the pillow is a really interesting and creative find. Knowing that a clinical study was conducted, even if on a relatively small sample size (41 individuals, but specifically with cervical issues) can shed some light on what this type of waterbase pillow can provide for individuals both with and without health issues.

As the picture shows, this is a very large and heavy package. I chose to assemble it myself to test the process. The chair arrives in three boxes. The main chair body is in the largest bottom box.

If you skip white glove delivery, it arrives on a pallet via freight. You must move each box into your house yourself. Even with a dolly, it is a difficult task without help.

I suggest opening the biggest box first. Remove all the packaging to clear your workspace. There is a lot of material to protect the chair during shipping. Keeping the area clean helps you avoid losing small parts.

The smaller boxes hold the arms, covers, and electronics. You will also find the instruction manual here. Osaki packs the manual in a high-quality box similar to an iPad box.

Read the manual before you start. Lay out all the pieces clearly. The setup instructions were missing a few details, but the process is mostly simple. I recommend having two people for assembly. Parts like the leg extension are heavy and hard to attach alone.

Here is the main chair body out of the box. At this stage, the arms and legs are not yet attached.

Attaching the leg rest was the hardest part. It is heavy and must align perfectly with the main unit. Once the legs are on, the rest of the work is easy.

Osaki includes great details. For example, logos light up and project onto the floor when the chair starts.

The hand massage slots have small bumps. These feel excellent during your massage.

Manual modes let you target specific spots on your back. You can choose Kneading, Tapping, Shiatsu, or Rolling. You can focus on your shoulders, lower back, or calves. The chair also has custom settings for the neck and air massage.

You can even combine two massage styles at once. Options include “Kneading & Tapping” or “Kneading & Shiatsu.” This allows for better techniques and a custom experience.

L & S Track Technology

The Maestro LE uses both S and L track technology. The S-Track follows the natural curve of your spine. The L-Track reaches from your neck down to your thighs. This provides 50% more massage area than standard chairs.

My Osaki OS-Pro Maestro LE Recommendation

This is the third massage chair I have used regularly. It is the most advanced and has the most features. I have owned it for 5 months and I am still finding new ways to adjust it.

One downside is the foot massager. It feels small for my size 13 feet. If you are tall or have large feet, look at the Osaki Highpointe. It costs more but has an open foot design that is much better for large feet.

Compared to the X77 from XChair, the Osaki is more intense. It has more programs and a better touchscreen. Both offer heat and zero gravity, but the Osaki feels more powerful.

How it felt in the original review

Yawnder’s original hands-on impression was that the Liv felt more accommodating than its low profile suggested. The foam absorbed movement well, and the medium feel was easier to recommend to average-size side and back sleepers than a very firm budget bed. Those observations are historical and were not collected with today’s standardized measurement equipment.

The predictable tradeoffs are equally important. An all-foam perimeter does not provide the seated edge support of a reinforced hybrid. The comfort layer can also feel warmer and slower-moving than a spring-and-foam design, even with a gel infusion. Heavier stomach sleepers are the group most likely to need more support depth and a firmer core.

The original mattress was commonly advertised with a 10-year limited warranty, but warranty eligibility depends on the original purchaser, receipt, seller and written terms.

For a clearance mattress, ask whether it is new, a floor model, a return or “as is.” For a used mattress, assume there is no transferable warranty unless the seller proves otherwise. Inspect for impressions, edge collapse, odors, stains and a removed law label before discussing price.

Liv versus today's Tulo models

Current Mattress Firm listings include Tulo Green Tea foam mattresses in several heights, along with other Tulo products. These are different models, not a renamed Liv. The old Liv's measurements and Yawnder videos do not establish how the current mattresses perform.
