Otty Mattress Review: Comfort, Support, and Cooling Technology

Otty mattress review

Otty is a UK-based mattress company that was founded in 2016. The company was established with the aim of creating a high-quality mattress that would provide a comfortable and restful sleep experience at an affordable price point.

The Otty mattress was the company’s first product, and it quickly gained popularity thanks to its unique combination of foam and pocket springs, as well as its innovative “cool blue” gel-infused foam layer. The company’s focus on quality, comfort, and affordability resonated with consumers, and the Otty mattress became one of the top-rated bed-in-a-box mattresses in the UK.

Since its launch, Otty has expanded its product line to include other sleep-related products, such as pillows and bed frames. The company has also established partnerships with retailers and distributors throughout the UK and Europe, making its products more widely available to consumers.

One of Otty’s core values is sustainability, and the company is committed to reducing its environmental impact. It uses eco-friendly materials in its products, such as Tencel fabric and CertiPUR-US certified foam, and works with suppliers who share its commitment to sustainability.

Overall, Otty is a relatively young company that has made a big impact on the UK mattress market. Its focus on quality, comfort, and affordability, combined with its commitment to sustainability, has helped it establish a loyal customer base and become a major player in the sleep industry.

The Otty mattress is a popular bed-in-a-box mattress that has garnered significant attention in the UK market. This innovative mattress combines multiple layers of foam and pocket springs to create a supportive and comfortable sleeping surface that’s ideal for people who suffer from back pain or other sleep-related issues.

One of the standout features of the Otty mattress is its unique “cool blue” gel-infused foam layer. This layer is designed to regulate body temperature and prevent overheating, ensuring that you stay comfortable throughout the night. The high-density support foam layer and the layer of pocket springs also add to the mattress’s overall comfort and support.

The Otty mattress’s pocket springs are individually wrapped, providing better motion isolation and support than traditional mattresses. This means that when one person moves during the night, the other person won’t feel it, making it a good choice for couples who share a bed.

Another key benefit of the Otty mattress is its edge support. Unlike many other bed-in-a-box mattresses, the Otty has a reinforced perimeter that keeps you from feeling like you’re going to roll off the bed. This feature is particularly helpful for people who tend to sleep near the edge of the mattress.

In terms of firmness, the Otty mattress is considered medium-firm, which is a good balance between comfort and support. However, some sleepers may find it too firm, especially those who prefer a softer sleeping surface. It’s worth noting that the mattress will likely soften over time with use.

One potential downside of the Otty mattress is its initial chemical smell when first unboxed. This is a common issue with bed-in-a-box mattresses, and the smell typically dissipates within a few days. Additionally, the Otty mattress is only available in the UK, which may limit its accessibility to some consumers.

Overall, the Otty mattress is an excellent choice for people who want a supportive, comfortable, and cooling mattress. Its unique “cool blue” gel-infused foam layer, high-density support foam layer, and individually wrapped pocket springs make for a winning combination that provides a restful and rejuvenating sleep experience. However, it may not be suitable for people who prefer a softer sleeping surface or live outside of the UK.

The Otty mattress is designed to keep you cool and comfortable throughout the night, thanks to its innovative “cool blue” gel-infused foam layer. This layer is made with an open-cell structure that allows for greater air flow, which helps to regulate your body temperature and prevent overheating.

The gel-infused foam also contains tiny gel beads that absorb and dissipate excess heat, further contributing to the mattress’s cooling properties. This technology is especially beneficial for people who tend to sleep hot or live in warm climates, as it can help prevent night sweats and other sleep-related issues.

In addition to the “cool blue” layer, the Otty mattress also has a breathable cover made of Tencel, a sustainable and eco-friendly fabric that’s known for its moisture-wicking properties. This helps to keep the mattress dry and comfortable, even on humid nights.

Overall, the Otty mattress’s cooling technology works by creating a breathable and moisture-wicking sleeping surface that helps regulate your body temperature and prevent overheating. This can lead to a more comfortable and restful sleep experience, especially for people who struggle with hot flashes or night sweats.

Emma Mattress Review

Emma Mattress

The Emma Mattress is an all foam mattress that comes shipped in a box. The Emma mattress is made in Derby, England and was recently named a Best Buy by Which? magazine. The Emma is not just a typical 3 layers foam mattress. Instead, they incorporate individual pocket coils between the layers of foam for a more adaptive feel.

Overview of the Emma Mattress

Here’s a video of me on the Emma highlighting some of its features. This mattress retails at 649 pounds for a king size. According to their website, the mattress will be delivered to your home in about 3-5 business days. It comes compressed in a box which means easy transport to your house and into your room.

The Emma also comes with a 100 night trial period where you can try it out in the comfort of your own home and if you don’t like it returns are free.

Construction of the Emma Mattress

Inside of Emma Mattress

Below are some of the construction highlights of the Emma mattress as listed on their website.

Cover
The top cover consists of special climate fiber that regulates humidity. At the same time, it is so elastic that it fits the core of your mattress, perfectly.

Top Layer
The Airgocell® foam provides you with ideal comfort thanks to exceptional point-elasticity that allows one area to compress without affecting the rest of the mattress. In addition, Emma’s open-pored highly breathable material won’t make you sweat.

Coil Layer
Up to 2000 individual pocket springs optimised to balance out pressure disparities and provide the precise support your body needs.

The visco-elastic memory foam that rests within the intermediate layer distributes pressure optimally and adapts to your body’s unique contours. The material is a modern innovation that keeps you comfortable in any sleep position.

Our cold foam supports you where it matters. The firm bottom layer provides the necessary counter pressure whatever your sleeping position is and offers pressure relieving support for your lower back.

The dark gray side cover ensures optimal air circulation, gives the Emma mattress a stylish look and provides traction thanks to the practical anti-slip elements at the bottom.

Emma Mattress Layers

My Emma Mattress Findings

Here’s a peek inside the Emma mattress. Notice how each layer reacts.

Being an all foam mattress. The Emma handles motion disturbances very well. Here’s a video that shows how much the mattress isolations motion. For this video I used a couple bowling balls.

This mattress sinks a bit on the top layer but you get good support from the layers underneath. Here’s a photo that shows how much my bowling ball sinks on the Emma.

As an added touch this mattress comes with stitched handles on each side to make it easy to rotate or move.

Emma Mattress Side View

What I think really sets the Emma apart from the other online mattress companies in England is that this mattress comes with a  coil system. This gives the mattress just a bit more bounce without sacrificing conforming. It also adds a bit more breathibility.  Below is a picture of the coil system. These are small coils that provide extra contouring.

Emma Mattress Micro Coils

My Emma Recommendation

I found the Emma to be a bit firmer than the Leesa and about the same firmness of the Eve mattress. These are the other two online brands I have reviewed that are available for purchase in England. What I especially like about the Emma is that you get a more complex construction with the added coil system. With the 100 night guarantee you also have nothing to lose by trying it out. And, at this price point it is a great buy!

Bruno Mattress Review

A woman lies on her stomach on a bed, reading a Bruno booklet. The mattress is set up in a bright room with a window, a nightstand, and a lamp. A Bruno-branded box with a bear logo is placed next to the bed. A vase with flowers is visible on the nightstand.

I received a free Bruno mattress for review. This mattress is unique in that it is made of polyurethane foam that does not have added chemicals such as emulsifiers that slow foam movement. It also has a 7 zone construction that addresses key pressure points such as hips and shoulders. Ordering You can purchase the Bruno … Read more
