I was recently given a Luuf mattress for review. This mattress is a high-quality hybrid mattress that comes in multiple firmness options.  A queen size retails for $1,099 and for that price you get great craftsmanship beyond what you would typically get from an online brand.

Overview of the Luuf mattress

The Luuf mattress is a bed-in-a-box mattress that is designed to provide a comfortable and supportive sleeping experience. The company claims that their mattresses are made with high-quality materials and offer great value for the price.

The Luuf mattress is available in three different models: The Essential, The Hybrid, and The Latex. The Essential model is an all-foam mattress that provides a medium-firm feel, while The Hybrid model combines foam and coils to provide a balance of comfort and support. The Latex model features a layer of natural latex that provides responsive support and pressure relief.

All three models of the Luuf mattress come with a removable and washable cover made with a blend of polyester and rayon. The mattresses are also designed to be compatible with most bed frames, including adjustable bases.

The Luuf mattresses come with a 101-night sleep trial and a 10-year limited warranty. Customers can also choose to add on optional white glove delivery and setup services for an additional fee.

Overall, the Luuf mattress seems to be a quality choice for those in the market for a new mattress, with a variety of models and materials to choose from, as well as a generous sleep trial and warranty..

The Luuf mattress can be purchased through our website or through their website It comes in 3 different firmness options going from softest to firmest:

Plush Multi Sleeper
Luxury Firm Multi Sleeper
Firm Sleeper

Here’s a video of me on the Luuf Plush Multi Sleeper.

Your mattress will arrive in a box. This is a heavy mattress though so may take two people to get into your room. This is what it looks like once you get it out of the box.

Luft Mattress Package This mattress can be slept on right after opening. It springs to life and I didn’t notice much off-gassing with it either.

Construction of the Luuf Mattress

I was lucky enough to tour the factory where the Luuf is made. Here’s a picture of the inside of the Luuf mattress

How Much Does the Luuf Bed Cost?

A Luuf mattress is much less than any other mattress I have tested with similar specs. Added to that it feels better too! A queen size retails for $1,499 after discounts and comes with a 100 night trial and 10 year warranty.

My Luuf Mattress Findings

Below is a photo of my 14 lb. bowling ball on the Soft Side Sleeper Luuf mattress. It has a considerable amount of sink but when you put even more weight on it, you will get even more sink.

Luft Mattress Sinkage The Luuf mattress will have some bounce to it. Although since there are more foam layers above it than a traditional spring mattress your partner will not feel your movements as much. Check out the video below to get an idea of how this handles motion transfer and how much bounce you can expect.

The Luuf also handles heat fairly well. It’s certainly more breathable than an all-foam mattress.

Luuf Mattress Trial and Warranty

The Luuf mattress comes with a 101-night sleep trial, which allows customers to try out the mattress in the comfort of their own home for over three months. If, during the trial period, the customer decides that the mattress is not a good fit for them, they can contact Luuf’s customer service to initiate a return and receive a full refund. Luuf offers free returns and will coordinate the pickup of the mattress.

The Luuf mattress also comes with a 10-year limited warranty, which covers defects in materials and workmanship. If the mattress is found to have a defect within the warranty period, Luuf will repair or replace the mattress at no cost to the customer. However, the warranty does not cover normal wear and tear, damage resulting from improper use or handling, or changes in the customer’s comfort preference.

It’s important to note that the warranty is only valid for the original purchaser of the mattress and is non-transferable. Additionally, the warranty requires that the mattress be used on a suitable base, such as a solid foundation, platform bed, or adjustable base.

Overall, the 101-night sleep trial and 10-year limited warranty are generous and provide customers with peace of mind when purchasing a Luuf mattress.

My Luuf Recommendation

The Luuf mattress is an exceptional value given its construction and the fact that it is made in the USA. The feel should appeal to most people although if you know you want a very firm or very soft mattress, you may want to look elsewhere. The coil system is designed so that you get superior edge support, something that most mattress in a box companies have a hard time achieving. The coils along the perimeter of the mattress are actually firmer than the inside to keep you in bed and prevent you from feeling like you will roll-off.

Luuf incorporates all the newest foams including a cooling foam and graphite infused foam for superior comfort. They aren’t a typical 3 layer mattress company. They have 5 layers to make a great quality mattress and a 100-day trial to boot. If you are not happy with the mattress within this time frame they will take it. Free shipping to you and free returns so you aren’t out a dime.

The Luuf Mattress is an incredible deal and you will be hard pressed to find a mattress at this price point with this quality construction and look and feel.

Ecosa Mattress: Must-Have Comfort for Effortless Sleep

Ecosa Mattress Review

The Ecosa mattress is also unique in that it has a built-in waterproof protector. This means that you don’t need to purchase a separate mattress protector. The mattress cover is also removable and machine washable.

The Ecosa mattress is available in three firmness levels: soft, medium, and firm. You can also choose to have the mattress delivered in a box or on a frame.

The Ecosa mattress comes with a 100-night sleep trial and a 10-year warranty. If you are not happy with the mattress for any reason, you can return it for a full refund.

Pros of the Ecosa mattress:

  • Comfortable and supportive for all sleep positions
  • Built-in waterproof protector
  • Removable and machine-washable cover
  • Available in three firmness levels
  • 100-night sleep trial and 10-year warranty

Cons of the Ecosa mattress:

  • Some customers have found the mattress to be too firm or too soft
  • The mattress can be heavy and difficult to move

Overall, the Ecosa mattress is a good option to consider if you are looking for a comfortable and supportive memory foam mattress. It comes with a sleep trial and warranty, so you can try it risk-free.

The Ecosa mattress is a 3 in 1 mattress where you get 3 levels of firmness by unzipping and flipping the inside layers. It’s easy to do and gives your mattress added versatility for when you want to go softer or firmer depending on how your body feels. There are now a fair amount of customizable mattresses on the market but the Ecosa is an affordable option that has a unique feel that should appeal particularly well to stomach and back sleepers.

Overview of the Ecosa Mattress

You can order the Ecosa direct from their website. Shipping takes about 5 business days. This mattress comes with a 100-night trial and a 15-year warranty. If you don’t like your mattress within the 100 night period, Ecosa will return it. No need to pay for return shipping either.

The Ecosa will come in a box like the one below.

Ecosa Box

This is what it looks like out of the box. It comes roll packed in plastic.

Ecosa Out of the Box

Here’s a brief video overview of the mattress. I have it set to the out of the box configuration.

How Much Does the Ecosa Mattress Cost?

Below are the current prices of the mattress and the prices with the $100 discount as listed on their website.

[table id=7 /]

Construction of the Ecosa Mattress

Below is a nice graphic created by Ecosa to show how their mattress is made. What stands out with the Ecosa among some of the other brands is that it has a waterproof inner cover that keeps the mattress clean so really you don’t need to use a mattress protector. You can clean the outer cover of the mattress by just unzipping it.

Ecosa Mattress ConstructionMy Ecosa Mattress Findings

This is a 3 in 1 mattress. To illustrate how easy it is to adjust, take a look at the video I made showing how to configure the mattress. You will also get a look at the inside of the mattress including the waterproof inner cover.

Also, the bottom of the mattress has little dots that help the mattress stay put on your bed.

zipper ecosaSince this mattress can be configured 3 ways it’s best to show you what you can expect with each firmness level.

First off is the G-7 memory foam layer which is the blue color foam on top. This is actually 1 of 2 medium firm options. Ecosa doesn’t have a soft option. Of the two medium options, I found this one to be just a little softer.

Ecosa Soft

Next up is the ECO-Tex Layer which is basically the other side of the G-7 layer. This is also a medium firmness. You can’t really tell by the pictures but I felt like I sunk in just a little more with the G-7 layer.

Eco Tex

Last is the Ergonomic HD Breathable Support Layer. This is the firmest of the 3 by far and probably best suited to stomach sleepers. As you can see the ball just rests on top of this layer.

Firm layer ecosa

You can also see with the firm layer that there are channels cut into it. This helps with breathability.

Firm layer channels

The video below shows how each layer reacts.

Here are some quick videos showing motion transfer on each layer. Basically I didn’t find any issues at all with motion transfer being an all foam mattress.

Here’s the HD Breathable Support Layer

Here’s the G-7 Layer

And this is the ECO-Tex Layer

My Ecosa Recommendation

If you are looking for a firm mattress with no motion transfer that sleeps cool and can be adjusted, this mattress is right for you. The G-7 and Eco-Tex layers are still firmer than most of the medium firm mattresses I have reviewed and the HD layer is definitely firm. I really like the built-in mattress protector underneath the cover. No need to buy a mattress protector. I highly recommend this mattress to stomach and back sleepers that like a firm mattress or anyone that likes a firm mattress with no motion transfer.

The Sleep and Glow Anti-Aging Pillow is a new product on the market that claims to help reduce wrinkles, improve skin elasticity, and diminish the appearance of dark circles. It does this by using a combination of memory foam and cooling technology to create a comfortable and supportive sleeping environment.

Here are some of the pros and cons of the Sleep and Glow Anti-Aging Pillow:

Pros:

  • Comfortable and supportive
  • May help reduce wrinkles and improve skin elasticity
  • May help diminish the appearance of dark circles
  • May help improve sleep quality
  • Comes with a 30-day money-back guarantee

Cons:

  • Expensive
  • Some users have reported that the pillow is too firm
  • Not all users have reported seeing results
  • It is unclear how long the results will last

Overall, the Sleep and Glow Anti-Aging Pillow is a promising new product with some potential benefits for the skin. However, it is important to note that more research is needed to confirm these benefits and that the pillow is not a magic bullet for anti-aging.

Here are some additional things to consider before purchasing the Sleep and Glow Anti-Aging Pillow:

  • Your skin type: If you have sensitive skin, you may want to avoid the pillow as the cooling technology may irritate your skin.
  • Your sleep position: If you sleep on your stomach, you may find the pillow to be too firm.
  • Your budget: The pillow is quite expensive, so you may want to consider other options if you are on a tight budget.

The Sleep & Glow Pillow

The Sleep & Glow pillow is an anti-aging pillow for back and side sleepers that promises less fatigued skin, a refreshed face and a healthy back. Its design is quite technical, which is why even though it’s often marketed for its beauty benefits, it also has a lot to offer physiologically.

sleep & glow pillow upright

Overview of The Sleep & Glow Pillow

This pillow is designed and produced in Europe and it has been patented in Europe, the US, and Japan. The company offers a 30-night sleep trial with a money-back guarantee. On top of that, they stand by a 3-year warranty. The pillow retails for $195 on their website.

Construction of The Sleep & Glow Pillow

The pillow only comes in one size with the following dimensions: 22” x 15” x 5” and it’s made with some pretty remarkable memory foam. Every part of this pillow has been made with the intention of ad addressing some type of problem. Even the pillowcases, which are offered in both Tencel and silk versions, have been well thought out. This pillow is constructed with European materials that are non-toxic, safety approved materials that also have ISO quality control system certification.

My Sleep & Glow Pillow Findings

*Important Note*
After filming this review, I realized that I made a mistake in terms of how I demonstrated laying on the pillow. I used the pillow upside down. Doing so can actually cause headaches and further neck problems. The higher bolster has to touch the forehead and the lower bolster, the chin. I apologize for the confusion.

The biggest selling point of the Sleep & Glow pillow is within its construction. It not only looks meticulously built but it is. I can tell that some incredibly intelligent people created this pillow and that’s confirmed when Sleep & Glow mentions that it was designed with the help of both cosmetologists and orthopedists. Cosmetologists are most likely a familiar term if you came to this article interested in beauty and anti-aging but for those who aren’t familiar with orthopedists, they are knowledgeable and skilled in the “prevention, diagnosis and treatment of disorders of the bones, joints, ligaments, tendons, and muscles.” This is also known as our musculoskeletal system. In short, they’re masters of human anatomy.

Despite the Sleep & Glow Pillow being primarily marketed for what it has to offer aesthetically, it’s psychological components shouldn’t be overlooked. While it was created to help you look your best it also assists with maintaining spinal alignment as well as proper curvature of the neck. Why is this important? Because our spinal alignment is essential to our health. If our spine is out of whack, odds are other things are as well. The construction of this pillow seeks to address that concern by providing you with the physiologically-correct body position during sleep, encouraging spinal alignment and a happy cervical curve. For those who have already existing musculoskeletal issues, it’s advised that you consult your physician/chiropractor/orthopedist if a pillow like this can adequately meet your needs. It’s quite possible that it’s not the right solution for you.

sleep & glow pillow packaging

The method in which it aids in anti-aging is multi-faceted. First, there’s the form (the way it’s shaped and cut), then the material used to create it (memory foam), and then the pillowcases it comes with.

In addition to being comfortable, the memory foam used in its construction is dense where it provides perfectly adequate support but it’s not so firm that it feels stiff. You’ll achieve comfortable side and back sleeping and the way certain portions of it are cut out, it does a great job at cradling your head regardless of how you sleep (keep in mind this is not for stomach sleepers). The neck support, all thanks to the shoulder cradle, is really out of this world.

One of the most advertised features of this pillow is how it prevents your face from getting smushed. There’s just no better word for it than that because most likely, you totally know what I mean when I say it: smushed. The anatomical shape of the pillow helps minimize skin twisting and folding and this works by avoiding your face from directly having to lean too much into the pillow when on your side. This works to prevent sleep wrinkles, morning puffiness and those unsightly pillow marks and creases that some of us wake up with. As an added side note, if you want to avoid vertical wrinkles to the decollage area, you will want to sleep on your back. If you want to avoid wrinkles altogether, sleeping on a pillow that encourages this, is already a big step in the right direction. If you insist on sleeping on your side, using a pillow like this one is an improvement.

sleep&glow pillow on couch

The pillowcase options that Sleep & Glow offers are Tencel and silk. Apparently, both have some pretty interesting characteristics that further improve the effectiveness of the Sleep & Glow Pillow. Both also happen to be made of natural fibers. One thing I want to mention, for those who may not be aware, is this: When silk is generally mentioned (anywhere on the internet), satin is usually following along behind it.

While it’s not relevant to this pillow, I’d like to just educate some people (because embarrassingly, I recently learned it myself and it’s an essential distinction). Satin is not a replacement fabric for silk. Silk is an actual fabric, while satin is a type of weave used to achieve a smoother feeling fabric. So silk is the real thing and with this pillow or pillowcase, that’s what you’ll be getting. Our eco-friendly readers will also be happy to know that both pillowcase fabrics offered, silk and Tencel, are biodegradable.

Silk is a natural protein fiber consisting mainly of fibroin (an insoluble protein) and it’s created by certain insect larvae in the formation of cocoons. The best-known silk comes from the mulberry silkworm. Silk has a few compelling characteristics:

  • Doesn’t absorb moisture
  • Doesn’t absorb creams
  • Reduces hair breakage
  • Prevents hair tangling
  • Moisture-wicking
  • Naturally elastic
  • Helps regulate body temperature
  • Keeps you warm in winter, cool in summer

Here’s an interesting fact about silk from Wikipedia.com:

“The shimmering appearance of silk is due to the triangular prism-like structure of the silk fiber, which allows silk cloth to refract incoming light at different angles, thus producing different colors.”

One of the most interesting things that I learned about silk is that sunlight tends to encourage the decomposition of silk by atmospheric oxygen so it’s best kept out of the light.

sleep & glow pillow side view

Tencel is the brand name of a fiber that is known as lyocell. While it’s technically considered a synthetic fiber, it’s retrieved from natural materials and goes through a lengthy process to be transformed into fabric. The result is a luxurious high-quality fiber. Tencel also has a few intriguing characteristics:

  • Made from eucalyptus fiber (which doesn’t require irrigation or pesticides)
  • More breathable than cotton
  • Hypoallergenic and bacteriostatic properties (suitable for sensitive skin)
  • Softer and stronger than most cotton
  • Has less of a tendency to wrinkle
  • Its production utilizes less land and water than cotton
  • Amasses less odor and bacteria when compared to other fabrics

It’s true that this pillow is pricey when compared to more cheaply designed versions but it’s almost not the most expensive pillow I’ve seen. Specialty pillows like this can easily run $200 to $300. I’ve seen others that were even higher. I understand that this may sound insane to most people but to target particular problems, or particular areas of the body, people are willing to spend if the product does what it claims. Specifically constructed designs require resources. But for the money they ask, premium quality is typically what you receive.

sleep and glow logo tag

My Sleep & Glow Pillow Recommendation

I’m really impressed with this pillow. The quality of the materials used and its intricate construction certainly justifies the price. From the physiological aspect, I’m confident that it can help certain individuals with their neck and shoulder issues. From the beauty aspect, the combination of elements involved, such as the structure, the density of the memory foam, as well as the materials that were chosen for the pillowcase, sound promising. The first night I spent on the pillow, I started sleeping on my back and I woke up still laying on my back. That was surprising to me as I’m totally in love with side sleeping, nothing is nearly as comforting to me. Sleeping on your back, in general, is the most recommended thing to reduce and prevent wrinkles and if a pillow like this can help encourage that, it’s worth the spend. For those skeptical, it may require some experimentation to know for sure if it’s for you but I don’t think the amount of reviews they’ve amassed is coincidental. There is obviously something they are doing right.

The Sweetnight was shipped for free via Amazon.

Overview of the Sweetnight Hybrid Mattress

I’m an avid online shopper for just about everything. Despite my online shopping habit, until recently I had never purchased a mattress without laying down on it first. When Sweetnight sent me this mattress to review I jumped at the chance. This was only my second experience with unboxing a vacuum-packed mattress. Watch the video below for my experience.

I’ve spent most of my life sleeping on standard coil spring mattresses. My sleep was often easily disturbed by my partner tossing and turning. The motion transfer was enough to disrupt my sleep. I am thoroughly impressed with the stability of the Sweetnight mattress and the minimal movement felt when my partner moved around. Not to mention, those individually wrapped coils support your body and help maintain proper back alignment and support.

Overall the mattress firmness of the Sweentnight is in the low to mid-range based on how it felt to me. This is what I would expect with a pillow-top and memory foam mattress.

How much does the Sweetnight 12-inch Mattress Cost?

I tested the King size of this mattress which is currently unavailable on Amazon. The queen and full sizes are reasonably priced for such a great night’s sleep.

[table id=72 /]

Why Are Sweetnight Mattresses So Cheap?

Sweetnight mattresses are priced affordably compared to many other mattress brands for a few reasons:

  1. Direct-to-Consumer Sales: Sweetnight sells their mattresses directly to consumers through their website, cutting out the middlemen such as retailers and distributors. This allows them to offer their mattresses at a lower price point compared to traditional brick-and-mortar stores.
  2. Efficient Manufacturing: Sweetnight has optimized their manufacturing process to reduce costs without sacrificing quality. They use high-quality materials and innovative production techniques to produce their mattresses efficiently, which reduces their production costs.
  3. Online-Only Business Model: Sweetnight operates as an online-only business, which reduces overhead costs such as rent and employee salaries associated with maintaining physical retail stores. They pass these savings on to customers in the form of lower prices.

Overall, Sweetnight has found a way to produce high-quality mattresses at a lower cost by cutting out the middlemen, using efficient manufacturing processes, and operating as an online-only business. This allows them to offer their mattresses at a lower price point while still maintaining quality and comfort for their customers.

Construction of the Sweetnight Hybrid Mattress

At the base of the mattress are the individually wrapped steel coils. On top of the coils is a layer of egg-crate style foam that promotes airflow. The gel memory foam sits on top of the foam and is topped with another layer of the egg-crate style foam. The mattress has a cooling and soft cover made from knitted fabric. The mattress is plush yet motion stable. For those who run hot, the cooling foam is an added benefit.

Why is Sweetnight So Popular on Amazon?

Sweetnight mattresses are a popular option for those looking for affordable and comfortable mattresses, particularly on Amazon. Compared to other cheap Amazon mattress brands, Sweetnight stands out for a few reasons:

  1. Variety of Options: Sweetnight offers a range of mattress models with different materials, constructions, and firmness levels. This means customers have more options to choose from, allowing them to find the mattress that best fits their sleeping preferences and needs.
  2. Quality Construction: Despite their affordable price point, Sweetnight mattresses are constructed with high-quality materials such as memory foam and innerspring coils, and are designed to be durable and long-lasting. Many customers have reported that their Sweetnight mattress has held up well over time.
  3. 100-Night Sleep Trial and Warranty: Sweetnight offers a 100-night sleep trial and a 10-year warranty on their mattresses, giving customers peace of mind and allowing them to try out the mattress in the comfort of their own home before committing to a purchase.

Of course, there are many other cheap mattress brands available on Amazon, and each brand may have its own unique features and benefits. It’s important to do your research and read customer reviews before making a decision, as this can help you get a better sense of the quality, comfort, and overall value of the mattress you’re considering.

My Sweetnight Hybrid Mattress Recommendation

It’s still early in my regular use of the Sweetnight 12-inch plush pillow top hybrid mattress but I see no evidence that the quality and comfort won’t hold up. There is virtually no outgassing from the mattress and the motion isolation coils surrounded by cooling and memory foam make this hard to beat. It’s a great value and the comfort rivals more expensive high-end mattresses. I am gifting this mattress to a friend, but I am giving it up with mixed emotions. I haven’t slept this well in weeks, so I might need to buy another for myself. Keep in mind you also get a 100 night trial with this mattress and a 10-year warranty so you have nothing to lose.

  • Some customers have complained about a strong off-gassing smell when they first opened their mattress. This usually dissipates within a few days, but it can be bothersome for some people.
  • A small number of customers have also complained about their mattress sagging prematurely. However, SweetNight offers a 10-year warranty on all of their mattresses, so this should be covered.

Overall, SweetNight mattresses are a good value for the price. They are comfortable for most sleepers and offer good pressure relief and motion isolation. However, some sleepers may find the mattresses too firm, and they may sleep hot. There have also been some complaints about off-gassing and sagging, but these are relatively rare.

If you are considering a SweetNight mattress, I recommend reading reviews from other customers to get a better sense of whether it is the right mattress for you. You should also take advantage of the 100-day trial so that you can return the mattress if you are not happy with it.

Sleep Divorce: The Must-Have Solution for Better Rest

Sleep Divorce

As I sit here in the solitude of our now second bedroom, with my fingers hovering over the keyboard, I can’t help but reflect on how drastically my life has changed. My name is Ben, I’m in my mid-40s, and like many married people, I used to share a bed with my spouse. Catherine, my beloved wife of nearly two decades, and I have, however, recently embarked on a somewhat unconventional path. We’ve chosen a route that some couples venture upon, but not many openly talk about: the path of a sleep divorce.

A “sleep divorce”, for those who are not familiar with the term, is when a couple chooses to sleep in separate bedrooms, or in separate beds within the same room, to improve their sleep quality. This decision is typically based on various disturbances that one partner may cause to the other during the night, like snoring, sleep-talking, or in my case, excessive movement.

Sleeping separately might seem antithetical to a healthy relationship, right? After all, shared intimacy and warmth are some of the benefits that come with sharing a bed. But, let me assure you, our sleep divorce has done wonders for us. Let me explain.

Before our sleep divorce, I would constantly shift in my sleep. This nocturnal ballet was not an issue for me; it was Catherine who suffered. Each movement I made would shake the bed, disturbing her slumber. She was always the more sensitive sleeper between us. Our disrupted sleep resulted in groggy mornings, short tempers, and constant exhaustion, things we could no longer afford to ignore.

Then, during an annual check-up, our doctor, sensing the physical and emotional strain we were under, suggested a sleep divorce. The idea initially seemed absurd, but the more we thought about it, the more it seemed like an intriguing solution to our sleep problem.

Despite our initial apprehension, we decided to take the plunge, and the benefits were almost immediate. Catherine found herself getting undisturbed sleep, her energy levels improved, and she was far more cheerful during the day. And I, no longer feeling guilty about my unintentional nocturnal interruptions, was also sleeping better, finally free to roam about the bed without concern.

If you find yourself relating to our predicament, you may wonder: how do you arrange your living quarters for a sleep divorce? The first step is to establish a second bedroom, if possible. This room should be comfortable, inviting, and conducive to sleep. Prioritize good bedding, calming décor, and optimal temperature.

As Catherine was the more sensitive sleeper, I moved into the guest room. I took the time to personalize it and make it as comfortable as my side of our old shared bed used to be. But don’t forget: this arrangement is not set in stone. If your living conditions change, your sleeping arrangements can change as well. Flexibility is key.

In the case of smaller living and room is not available, consider investing in a larger bed with a mattress that absorbs motion, so that the movements of one person are less likely to disturb the other. A room divider or a separate blanket for each person can also be beneficial.

An important aspect of a sleep divorce is maintaining your emotional connection. It’s crucial to reassure each other that the decision to sleep separately is not a reflection of your love or desire for each other but rather an attempt to improve the quality of both of your lives. Intimacy doesn’t only occur at night, and it certainly doesn’t have to happen in bed. Ensure you’re spending quality time together during your waking hours. Our lives are richer, and our relationship is stronger, because we’ve made sure to preserve our connection outside of the bedroom.

Communication is also paramount during this transition. Clear, open dialogues about feelings, apprehensions, and boundaries are vital. Just because you’re sleeping separately doesn’t mean you can’t have a bedtime routine together. Catherine and I spend our evenings side by side, talking, reading, or watching our favorite shows before we retreat to our respective bedrooms. This ensures we maintain our emotional bond, despite physically sleeping apart.

One practical concern that many couples face is how to explain this new sleeping arrangement to children or guests. We explained to our teenage kids that dad was disturbing mom’s sleep with his movements, and we needed to sleep in separate rooms to be more rested and happier parents. They understood. When it comes to guests, it’s entirely up to you how much you want to share. A simple, “we sleep better this way,” should suffice.

Overall, the sleep divorce has been a surprising success. We are both better rested, our moods have improved, and our relationship is stronger. We have more energy for each other, our kids, and our work. What’s more, our experience has led to more open conversations about the quality of our sleep, health, and overall happiness.

The decision to sleep separately is not for every couple. What works for us may not work for everyone. But for those who are dealing with sleep disturbances, it is an option worth considering. The key to a successful sleep divorce, like any aspect of a relationship, lies in open communication, understanding, and flexibility. If implemented thoughtfully, a sleep divorce could result in not just better sleep, but a happier and healthier life overall.

A couple with curly hair lies closely together on a bed, with eyes closed, appearing peaceful and content. The soft lighting and serene expressions convey a sense of intimacy and tranquility. The background features green plants and a wooden headboard.

More Benefits of a Sleep Divorce

Beyond the practicalities and physical benefits, there are several emotional and psychological benefits to a sleep divorce. The improvement in our overall mood and energy levels has allowed Catherine and me to reconnect on a deeper level. We have more patience for each other, we are more understanding, and our communication has improved immensely. We’ve managed to reinvent our ‘us’ time, and we’re enjoying each other’s company more than we have in a long time.

Another unexpected benefit has been a resurgence of our independence. We’ve reclaimed our individual spaces and routines, which we didn’t even realize we’d missed. This newfound independence, rather than driving us apart, has made us value our shared time more.

One could argue that this separation has helped us to rediscover ourselves as individuals, a realization that is essential for a healthy relationship. It’s easy to lose sight of oneself when life becomes a whirlwind of shared responsibilities, duties, and routines. A sleep divorce, in a strange way, can facilitate this necessary self-reflection.

Of course, a sleep divorce is not without its challenges. It takes time to adapt to this new routine and to shake off the societal norms ingrained in us about shared matrimonial beds. There are moments of awkwardness, like when you’re explaining to a confused friend why you have two bedrooms, or when you’re navigating intimate moments with your partner. But, with open communication and mutual respect, these hurdles can be overcome.

Catherine and I have also made a concerted effort to ensure that we don’t become complacent about our relationship now that we’re sleeping separately. We deliberately plan for shared activities and create romantic moments together. We still enjoy ‘sleepovers’ in each other’s rooms on the weekends. Our love life has not suffered; in fact, the thrill of spending a night in the ‘other’s room’ has rekindled the spark.

Final Thoughts on My Sleep Divorce

Navigating the uncharted waters of a sleep divorce can seem daunting, but with the right mindset, it can also be viewed as an exploration of your individual and collective needs, a journey to a healthier and happier life.

It’s essential to remember that embarking on a sleep divorce doesn’t have to be a permanent decision. For some couples, it might be a temporary solution to a temporary problem, such as one partner recovering from an illness or surgery, or dealing with temporary stress or insomnia. For others, like Catherine and me, it might turn out to be a more long-term arrangement. The flexibility to adapt to changing circumstances and needs is crucial.

Many couples may also find it helpful to consult a sleep specialist or a therapist during this process. Professionals can provide insights into your sleep habits, offer practical advice on setting up separate sleeping arrangements, and guide you on maintaining intimacy and connection during this transition.

In essence, a sleep divorce is an invitation to have a broader conversation about your relationship, about personal needs versus collective needs, about boundaries, compromise, and understanding. It’s about recognizing that sharing a bed is not the only way to express love and commitment, and that good quality sleep is essential for the health of both individuals and the relationship.

There are, indeed, nights when I miss the warmth of Catherine next to me, the comfort of her familiar presence as I drift off to sleep. But then I remember our exhausted past selves, running on the hamster wheel of sleep deprivation, and I’m reminded of why we chose this path. It’s not a choice we made lightly, but it is one we both agree has been for the best.

Sleep divorce won’t be the right choice for everyone, and that’s okay. The important thing is to have the conversation about sleep and to find the solution that works best for your relationship. Don’t let societal norms dictate the course of your personal journey to better sleep and a healthier relationship.

For us, the sleep divorce has not been a divide, but rather a bridge to better understanding, better health, and a stronger, more resilient relationship. We may not end every day side by side, but we greet every morning well-rested, happier, and more in love than ever before. And isn’t that, after all, a testament to a successful partnership?

It’s time to elevate the conversation about sleep divorce, to move it out from under the covers, and to acknowledge it as a viable solution for those seeking a night of peaceful sleep and a lifetime of healthier, happier relationships. Because if sleep is a fundamental pillar of health, then surely, it’s worth making it a priority in our lives, even if it means shaking up traditional norms. Sleep well, live better, love more – that’s been our mantra, and it’s served us well.

Some of the most popular Pillow Guy pillows include:

  • Down Pillow: This pillow is filled with 100% RDS-certified white goose down, which provides the ultimate in softness and luxury.
  • Down Alternative Pillow: This pillow is filled with a hypoallergenic down alternative fiber that provides the same feel and comfort of down, without the allergens.
  • Memory Foam Pillow: This pillow is made with high-quality memory foam that contours to your head and neck to provide pressure relief and support.
  • Gel Memory Foam Pillow: This pillow is similar to the memory foam pillow, but it also has a gel layer that helps to keep you cool and comfortable all night long.

Pillow Guy pillows are also available in a variety of different sizes and shapes, so you can find the perfect pillow for your bed and your sleeping position.

Pillow Guy pillows are known for their high quality and durability. They are also backed by a 100% satisfaction guarantee, so you can try them risk-free.

Overall, Pillow Guy pillows are a great option for anyone looking for a high-quality, comfortable, and supportive pillow.

The Pillow Guy Down Alternative Pillow is marketed towards gentlemen who could step up their bed game. The entire Pillow Guy brand offers an array of products, all meant to encourage men to pay more mind to this routine but an essential part of life.

The products they offer are pillows, sheets, comforters, duvet sets and also bundles to help you save in case you’re looking for a nice package deal.

Overview of the Pillow Guy Down Alternative Pillow

Pillow Guy only has 2 types of pillows in their inventory but I believe it’s more than enough; some people just don’t like foam and there already exists an array of places where foam pillows are available. The Pillow Guy brand seeks to distinguish itself by representing men of higher class and higher taste, of which quality pillows like traditional down pillows remain relevant. Their down pillows are $150.00 each, a rather steep price but I have no doubt that the quality matches the price. Usually, things made of premium materials will cost you a premium price and that’s just the reality. For those that want to spend less or are of a more animal-friendly tendency, the down alternative pillow is a solid option. With a price tag of $80.00, it’s worth considering for the budget-minded.

Construction of the Pillow Guy Down Alternative Pillow

The Pillow Guy Down Alternative Pillow comes in two sizes: Jumbo and King. Jumbo is more or less just about the size of a Queen pillow (which are generally ~ 20” X 30”). I kind of wish they just sticked with the term, as anyone shopping for bedding is familiar with it but I respect their decision to focus on their male target audience. To be honest, if we’re talking about men, King would be the appropriate term to take advantage of, for the most part.

Both come with the option of two densities: soft, meant for stomach sleepers, and overstuffed, designed for back and side sleepers.

My Pillow Guy Down Alternative Pillow Findings

The Pillow Guy Down Alternative Pillow is made of Poly Gel Fiber, a micro denier which is a synthetic polyester that’s designed to resemble the look and feel of a down pillow. In this case, their blend is a mixture of a .09D (a denier fabric that has the softest down-like feel) and 3D3V (a denier fabric which gives it loft and helps the pillow to retain its shape). Poly Gel Fiber doesn’t just seek to replicate the goose down experience but it also has great benefits which I doubt anyone could complain about, such as: it’s naturally hypoallergenic and it’s resist to dust mite, mold, and mildew—All incredibly gross things that most of us (I would hope) would like to avoid :-).

Pillow shells, that which houses the inner pillow material, are not usually a topic of conversation but what they’ve done with theirs is worth the mention and pretty interesting. Having utilized what’s known as MicronOne Technology means their pillow fabric shells are more premium than most. MicronOne technology refers to a rather high-tech fabric, invented to effectively protect the skin and respiratory system. It’s said to be the only material that’s been scientifically tested to block out bed bugs and micro toxins, down to the size of one micron. The biggest flaw with MicronOne Technology however is that there isn’t ENOUGH research behind it. This however is NOT a reason to think of Pillow Guy in any negative or skeptical way, as these are two completely separate companies. I consider Pillow Guy to be an absolutely awesome brand that has clearly done their absolute best to invest in the most high-quality materials for their high-class creations.

micronone technology pillow guy down alternative pillow

The color of the pillow cases for the down alternative pillows is something the company is quite proud of, and they should be. What they’ve dubbed to be “Pillow Guy Blue” is a striking and bold color, their own blend of Pantone colors, versatile enough to compliment various styles of bedding and decor. A lot of guys also tend to like blue so it was a great choice given their target audience. It is, after all, a rather sophisticated color. In addition, I like that their pillow cases were designed to be used as is. It feels like the sort of thing you’d get when purchasing a bedding set. It’s distinct and of quality. I feel like most companies go with the generic look of pillows; they’re always white, which is understandable (easy to know how clean or dirty they are, right?) but I appreciate that Pillow Guy chose to do something different.

It also comes with a hidden zipper (it’s actually really well hidden) and white satin piping. Piping is usually a posh feature when it comes to any product and the luxury of having it in a pillow case is really nice.

My Pillow Guy Down Alternative Pillow Recommendation

I’ll admit that I had a liking for Pillow Guy the moment I saw their commercial but pillows are more than their marketing and working here at Yawnder, you deserve the truth. The truth is that out of all of the pillows I’ve reviewed thus far, this one is probably one of my top two favorites. The quality matches its price, both the soft and overstuffed version provide more than sufficient support, it’s well designed and really thought out, it achieves its purpose to look and feel just like a down pillow (I was really surprised how well they pulled this off because it’s not easy), and the company isn’t scared to be creative in terms of the look of their product and how they market it, which I think is really cool and what variety is all about.

I also think it’s worth mentioning that despite their intense buffer against dirtiness, it’s always recommended to clean your pillows routinely, so the fact that this pillow is machine washable is a huge plus.

Additionally, they provide Free US Shipping, a 30-Day Sleep Free Guarantee, free returns, and even monthly payments through Affirm, financing for those who can’t afford the entirety of what they’d like to purchase, be it pillows or something else.

pillow guy down alternative pillow overstuffed vs stuffed comparison

In terms of their marketing, what I really like is that there’s a message associated with their products, which is not really typical of sleep products, if you think about it. Most companies are trying to provide a solution, which is great, sure, but not all of them state having a particular reason/purpose as to why they create their products in the first place.

If you haven’t seen their entire commercial, there’s mention how men who care about their appearance and their nice car, things speaking either of their social status or their attention to detail (or both), should care just as much about their sleep hygiene. Pillow Guy is making an attempt to remind people that they should have standards when it comes to their sleep, and how they sleep; it’s precisely why one of their slogans is “Get your sheet together.”

One’s bedroom is no doubt telling of one’s tendency towards cleanliness and whether we’re talking about how others will perceive you because of it, or how you perceive yourself, this is an area worth investing inregardless of whether or not you can afford the most premium products.

Seeing a line of products that are targeted towards men who are commonly known to not put much care or emphasis into their bedding, is refreshing. It’s nice to see the topic brought up and Pillow Guy does it in a really sophisticated and polite manner.

Pillow Guy challenges men to “step up their bed game,” and I think anyone dating a man who could do better in this arena, would definitely appreciate that.

This is a top-notch luxury pillow that one should not hesitate about; firstly, because of its quality and secondly, because of the company’s values and finesse in addressing the topic of clean sleep.

Alcohol: Must-Have Tips for Effortless Sleep After Drinking

alcohol drink elegant 1287549 scaled
Alcohol is the most common type of sleep aid. But drinking alcohol regularly can interfere with your sleeping pattern. It may affect sleep quality, too. Does this mean that you need to give up alcohol altogether? No. You simply need to be smarter about how you manage your liquor consumption, instead. alcoholCaption: How to sleep better after drinking alcohol Source: Pexels   There are several strategies that you can use to ensure better sleep after drinking alcohol.   Avoid Caffeine   If you want to sleep better after having a drink, stay away from caffeine. This does not only refer to coffee. You must refrain from consuming other caffeinated drinks like sodas, teas, and energy drinks. They will keep you awake at night. If you combine that with the effect of alcohol in your body, it will be hard to enjoy a restful night.   If a night of drinking is on the horizon, no worries. Whether you are out with friends or enjoying the game with any of these great tasting beers, you should be smart. Make sure you avoid having any caffeinated drinks, especially during the hours close to when you plan to hit the sack.   Have a Balanced Meal   Drinking your favorite beer or wine on a full belly can reduce the impact of alcohol on your sleep (versus not having a full meal). When you are going out for a drink or sipping some spirits at home, don’t skip dinner. A solid and balanced meal can regulate your body’s absorption of the alcohol.   Make sure you have enough protein, fat, and carbohydrates. This will allow the alcohol to be gradually introduced to your bloodstream, reducing its overall impact on your body. The less disruption your body has, the better your sleep will be.   Drink Plenty of Water   Alcoholic drinks, like beer, can make you dehydrated. When your body is dehydrated, you not only toss and turn during your sleep, you can also suffer from a headache the next morning. So keep yourself hydrated. Drinking plenty of water can combat the diuretic effect of alcohol on your body.   Tips for better sleep after drinking alcohol Source: Pexels   The goal is to drink as much water as the alcohol you consume. When it is not possible, just try to drink as much water as possible. This will help keep your body hydrated. Another benefit to drinking plenty of water is that it fills you up quickly. As a result, you don’t consume as much alcohol as you normally would.   Say No to Smoking   Aside from staying away from the bad combination of alcohol and caffeine, smoking should be avoided too. A lot of people like to drink and smoke at the same time. If you are one of them, don’t be surprised if you have trouble sleeping at night. Nicotine (found in cigarettes) is a stimulant. If you smoke, it can definitely keep you awake at night.   By reducing the number of cigarettes you smoke (or by not smoking at all), you will be able to sleep faster. This can also improve the quality of your sleep.   Turn Off the Alarm   If you have an alarm set on the regular, turn it off just before hitting the bed. Give your body a chance to recover from the effects of alcohol during your sleep. Do not disrupt that sleeping cycle with an alarm going off.   If possible, keep your phone away from your bed, too. You would not want to be woken up by a text message or call. After all, you are going to be highly sensitive to any noise so you want to minimize any disruptions as much as possible.   Stay off Alcohol Before Hitting the Bed   A lot of people have relied on alcoholic drinks such as beer or wine to help them get to sleep. But studies have shown that this is actually doing the opposite. It is time to change your habit of getting a drink right before you hit the bed. This habit of yours can make you feel more awake and energetic, instead, which can then cause a disruption in your sleep cycle.   It is best to get started early on your alcohol consumption – this is called the ‘happy hour’. Do not wait until much later in the night when you are just about to go to bed to get your drink. You are more likely to sleep faster and more soundly when you have had your drink a few hours earlier.   Make Your Bedroom Cozy bedroom Sleep better even with alcohol Source: Pexels   This might seem like a simple step but it can be very effective if you want to fall asleep faster. A cozy bedroom is one that is dim and has a comfortable temperature that will help you doze off. Darker colors on the bedroom wall are also suitable for sleeping. If you are not into dark wall colors, neutral hues can create a relaxing atmosphere in the bedroom.   Ideally, your bedroom should be somewhere that is far from any sources of noise (such as the living room or a noisy street). The less disruptive noises there are, the sooner you can sleep. The quality of your sleep will be better, too. Setting the ideal temperature within your room can also make sleeping easier. Aim for a temperature range of 60-68 degrees Fahrenheit.   Switching to new bedding such as microfiber sheets can improve the quality of your sleep as well. The goal is to make your sleeping space as cozy as possible.   Final Reminders   Heavy drinking is associated with sleep disorders. If you want to reduce the impact of alcohol on your sleep, you might want to lower your consumption. Instead of drinking as a regular nightcap, you can skip some nights. If you can, limit alcohol consumption to 2-3 times a week. Follow a pattern that works for you to improve your sleep quality. It is always a good practice to keep things in moderation.

Best Supplements to Take Before Bed for Alcohol and Sleep

certain dietary supplements may help support your body before and after drinking alcohol by boosting hydration, liver health, and vitamin levels. Always consult with your healthcare provider before starting any new supplement regimen.

  1. B Vitamins: Alcohol depletes B vitamins in your body, particularly B1 (thiamine), B6, and B12, which are essential for energy production and maintaining healthy nerve function. A B-complex supplement can help replenish these nutrients.

  2. Milk Thistle: Traditionally used for liver health, milk thistle contains silymarin, a powerful antioxidant that may help protect the liver from toxins, including the effects of alcohol.

  3. N-Acetylcysteine (NAC): NAC is a precursor to glutathione, a powerful antioxidant in your body. Taking NAC can boost your levels of glutathione, helping to neutralize alcohol’s oxidative stress on the liver.

  4. Magnesium: Alcohol can contribute to a magnesium deficiency, and this mineral plays a crucial role in over 300 cellular processes, including energy production and heart health.

  5. Prickly Pear: Some research suggests that prickly pear extract can help reduce the symptoms of a hangover.

  6. Turmeric: The curcumin in turmeric has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. It could potentially mitigate some liver damage caused by alcohol.

  7. Taurine: An amino acid that may protect the liver from alcohol-induced damage by reducing inflammation and oxidative stress.

  8. Ginger: Known for its anti-nausea properties, ginger could help with any upset stomach the next morning.

  9. Dihydromyricetin (DHM): Found in the Oriental raisin tree and rattan tea, DHM is suggested to reduce the effects of alcohol by enhancing the function of liver enzymes.

It doesn’t take long for this mattress to come to life. The spring system is engaged immediately and the top layers of foam will take a few hours to fully expand but if needed you could sleep on this mattress within 3 or 4 hours. It will take a full day for it to fully expand though.

My Helix Pus Findings

I have reviewed other mattresses for plus size sleepers including the Big fig and Winkbed Plus. In comparison to these, I found the Plus to be a bit softer. I weigh about 200 lbs. so I may not qualify for a heavy sleeper but in comparison to the other mattresses, this did feel softer.

The picture below shows how much sink you get with a 14 lb.s bowling ball.

Helix Nightfall Sink

Here’s another shot of sinkage towards the edge of the mattress. The coil system in this mattress uses a heavier gauge coil around the perimeter for better edge support so you can use the entire mattress and sleep right up to the edge.

Helix Nightfall Sink 2Here’s a video illustrating motion transfer on the mattress. You will get some motion transfer because of the coil system but they are pocket coils and move independently so not as much as you would with a traditional coil system.

Here’s a look at the inside of the mattress so you can see how each layer responds.

This mattress has a removable cover that could be washed or switched out for the cooling cover. The, “Ultra-Cool Cover” is an extra $125.nightfall cover

Helix Nightfall vs Winkbed Plus

Both the Helix Nightfall and Winkbed Plus are designed for heavy sleepers but there are some distinct differences. The Winkbed Plus is made with foam, spring and latex while the Helix Nightfall is made with Springs and foam.

The Helix Nightfall is considerably softer than the Winkbed Plus and so is not ideal for stomach sleepers. Stomach sleepers should instead take a look at the Winkbed Plus.

There are more foam layers at the top of The Helix Nightfall than the Winkbed Plus but the Winkbed Plus has quilted foam in the cover to give it a pillow top feel.

The Helix Nightfall weight limit is 1,000 lbs. while the Winkbed Plus weight limit is 900 lbs so advantage Helix Plus. Compare this to the Big Fig weight limit which is 1,100 lbs. but is also the firmest of the three mattresses for heavy people.

The Helix Nightfall, Big Fig and Winkbed Plus are the best hybrid mattresses for heavy people due to their high density foam layers, heavy duty coils.

The He

Here’s what it looks like underneath the top cover. There’s another cover underneath this to provide more breathability so that you aren’t directly under the foam.

Helix Nightfall Cover 2

My Helix Plus Recommendation

If you are a heavier sleeper and are frustrated with the lack of options out there, the Helix Plus is a welcome addition. It provides a softer feel with great pressure relief without sacrificing durability. The construction is well thought out in that the coil system provides great cradling of your body. The ultra-dense foams will hold up well over time and won’t feel too firm because of the cushioning you get from the coils.

Overall if you are a heavy sleeper, over 250 lbs. and looking for a softer cozier mattress that is breathable and still offers great support, the Helix Plus an excellent choice.

The Helix PLUS mattress includes several features that assist with cooling. The breathable Tencel cover and the Helix Dynamic Foam layer are designed to promote airflow and wick away moisture. The innerspring layer further aids air circulation, keeping the mattress cooler than all-foam counterparts.

7. Can you try the Helix PLUS mattress before you buy it?

Yes, Helix Sleep offers a 100-night sleep trial for the Helix PLUS mattress. This means you can try the mattress at home to make sure it’s right for you. If it’s not, you can return it for a full refund during this period.

8. What is the warranty on the Helix PLUS mattress?

The Helix PLUS mattress comes with a 15-year limited warranty. This covers certain defects in materials and workmanship. Be sure to read the full warranty for all the details.

Helix PLUS Mattress: Pros and Cons

Pros:

1. Designed for Support: The Helix PLUS mattress is built specifically to cater to plus-sized sleepers or those who prefer a firmer feel. Its reinforced support system, including the layer of XL wrapped coils and high-density memory foam, provides excellent contouring and weight distribution.

2. High Durability: Thanks to its robust construction, including a layer of DuraDense foam, the Helix PLUS mattress has a reputation for long-lasting performance. It’s designed to resist sagging and maintain its shape over time.

3. Excellent Edge Support: The Helix PLUS provides superior edge support compared to many other mattresses, thanks to the reinforced perimeters in the coil layer. This feature is especially beneficial for people who often sit on the edge of the bed or sleep near the edge.

4. Cooling Properties: With its breathable Tencel cover and open-coil design promoting airflow, the Helix PLUS mattress can help maintain a cool sleep environment, an asset for those who tend to sleep hot.

5. Trial Period and Warranty: Helix offers a 100-night sleep trial and a 15-year warranty, allowing customers to test the mattress and have long-term peace of mind about their purchase.

Cons:

1. Potentially Too Firm for Some: While many appreciate the support offered by the Helix PLUS, it may be too firm for some sleepers, particularly those who prefer a plush, soft feel or lightweight individuals who might not compress the mattress enough to benefit from its conforming properties.

2. Motion Isolation: Although the Helix PLUS does a decent job at limiting motion transfer due to its hybrid construction, all-foam mattresses generally perform better in this aspect. This could be a minor drawback for light sleepers who share the bed.

3. Limited In-Store Availability: Helix primarily sells online, which means customers usually can’t try the mattress in a store before buying.

4. Initial Off-Gassing: Like many bed-in-a-box mattresses, the Helix PLUS may emit a slight off-gassing odor when first unboxed. However, this smell is non-toxic and typically dissipates within a few days.

The Brooklyn Bedding Aurora mattress is a hybrid mattress that really excels with cooling and conforming. Hybrid mattresses are a wonderful choice for people looking for the benefits of foam but don’t want to give up the bounce and responsiveness of coils. Brooklyn Bedding is a mattress manufacturer which means they can be very competitive on price but maintain quality and features.

The Aurora mattress is their latest addition which comes in three different firmness levels. Soft, medium and firm. You can read about the all foam Brooklyn Bedding mattress here. This mattress also known as the Brooklyn Signature comes in three firmness levels.

Overview and Opening the Brooklyn Aurora Mattress

This mattress comes with a 120-night free trial and free shipping. This will give you plenty of time to decide if the mattress is a good fit for you and if not, it’s easy to return.

Below is a video overview of the Aurora Mattress. As you can see it has a fair amount of sink. For this review, I received the soft version of the Brooklyn Aurora.

Construction of the Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Mattress

All firmness levels of the Aurora Mattress come with 3 layers of foam at the top followed by a spring unit then a base layer of foam. They created different firmnesses by adjusting the firmness of the foam.

My Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Mattress Findings

The Soft version of the Aurora mattress feels wonderful. Not too foamy and not too springy. It just feels like a great mattress. By offering three different firmness options they are able to really play to peoples preferences instead of just trying to hit the lowest common denominator.

Here’s a picture of how much you can expect the mattress to sink. This is a 14 lb. bowling ball which is a bit heavier than the typical head.

A nice touch is that they have stitched handles on the side. This makes it easy to rotate or move your mattress.

Aurora Mattress Handles

Here’s a video shot in slow motion to show motion transfer on the Aurora. I am especially impressed with how this handled. Notice that the fish bowling ball didn’t roll towards the other ball.

Here’s a closeup shot of the cover. It is very cool to the touch and has a nice clean look and design.

Aurora Mattress Phase Change Cover

Brooklyn Bedding uses a technology called, TitanCool™ to keep the mattress cool to the touch and help you fall asleep faster. Here’s a video showing how fast heat dissipates from the top layer of the mattress.

My Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Recommendation

The Aurora mattress is priced a little higher than other hybrid mattresses I have reviewed but it also incorporates the latest technology including a very generous amount of phase change material to cool the top layer of the mattress.

The mattress not only feels great but it looks great too. Coming in at 13.5 inches it is thick enough to where you don’t have to worry about bottoming out and it will work well with your sheets. Most sheets are designed to accommodate extra thick mattresses and when you put them on a 10-inch mattress, you get a lot of extra material making the bed look messy.

The Aurora strikes a happy medium which makes your sheets and bed look great as well as feels great.

Brooklyn Bedding Aurora vs. Signature

To begin with, let’s discuss the Brooklyn Bedding Aurora mattress. Pioneered as the epitome of high-end luxury, it’s designed for those seeking the utmost comfort and cooling capabilities. It uses a proprietary TitanCool technology in its surface layer, designed to moderate body temperature throughout the night. The result is a remarkably cool, comfortable sleep experience, making it a perfect choice for those who tend to run hot in their sleep. Beyond its cooling properties, Aurora utilizes a multi-layer foam construction with a core of 8-inch Quantum Edge pocketed coils, which promise superior responsiveness, excellent pressure relief, and durable edge support.

The Brooklyn Bedding Signature, on the other hand, is touted as the brand’s most popular mattress, a hybrid model blending foam and coils to offer an appealing blend of support, comfort, and cooling. The Signature features an inch-thick layer of quilted, gel memory foam on the surface for immediate contouring and cooling, followed by two layers of responsive foam, and a 6-inch base of Ascension pocketed coils. This construction provides a blend of contouring comfort, pressure relief, and supportive bounce.

In terms of firmness, the Aurora mattress comes in three levels: Soft, Medium, and Firm, while the Signature offers options in Soft, Medium, and Firm, giving sleepers a fair amount of customization to choose the right feel for their specific needs.

Price-wise, the Aurora is more expensive than the Signature due to its advanced cooling technology and more luxurious construction. However, it’s essential to remember that the best mattress depends largely on individual sleep preferences, budget, and lifestyle.
