Birch Mattress Review - My Experience and 5 Real World Tests - Yawnder

Updated December 2026

Birch mattress review

Birch is one of the most popular natural latex hybrid mattresses online. It pairs a pocketed coil support core with latex, wool, and an organic cotton cover. The result is a buoyant, supportive mattress that feels very different from memory foam. In this review I cover the Birch Natural, Birch Luxe, and Birch Elite, including the Cool Force layer on the Elite.

Inside view of Birch mattress latex hybrid construction

Quick read: Natural is the supportive baseline, Luxe adds pressure relief, Elite targets hot sleepers with extra cooling features.

Latex hybrid Natural materials Cooling upgrades

Bottom line

If you want a natural mattress that is responsive and temperature neutral, Birch Natural is a solid pick. If you are a side sleeper or want a softer top, Birch Luxe is the easier recommendation. If cooling is your number one issue, Birch Elite is the model built specifically for that, and it is the one I would start with for hot sleepers.

My experience with each Birch model

I want to break this down model by model, because the best Birch for you depends less on brand hype and more on what you actually feel at the shoulders, hips, and lower back in your main sleep position.

My experience with Birch Natural

The Birch Natural feels like the baseline “true” Birch. When I lie down, the first impression is buoyant, not plush. It holds me up rather than letting me sink. On my back, my hips stay level and I can feel the coil support engaging quickly. On my stomach, it keeps my midsection from dipping, which is the number one issue I watch for in stomach sleepers.

On my side, I can still get comfortable, but the feeling is more on top of the mattress than in it. For side sleepers with sharper shoulders or hips, this is where people sometimes say “it is supportive but I want a little more give.” That is usually the moment I steer them to the Luxe, or to a topper if they love everything else about the Natural.

My experience with Birch Luxe

The Birch Luxe keeps the same overall latex hybrid personality, but the surface is more forgiving. The easiest way I can describe it is that it rounds off the edges of the feel. On my side, my shoulder settles in more naturally, and I feel less pressure building over time. It still rebounds quickly, but it is more cushion than the Natural.

For combination sleepers, the Luxe is a nice middle ground. You get pressure relief for side sleeping, but you can still roll around without feeling stuck. If someone tells me they want natural materials but they do not want a “firm latex” sensation, Luxe is the model that usually lands best.

My experience with Birch Elite

The Birch Elite is the one I think about first when someone says they sleep hot. The feel is still supportive and responsive, but the surface temperature is the difference. When I first lie down, it feels cooler to the touch compared to the other Birch models, and that initial cool surface sensation lasts longer.

The big feature here is the Cool Force layer. In my experience, cooling features matter most in two scenarios: you fall asleep warm and struggle to cool down, or you wake up hot in the early morning hours. Elite is designed to help with that by pulling heat away from the surface rather than letting it build up right where you make contact.

If you are deciding between Luxe and Elite, it comes down to your primary problem. If it is pressure relief, Luxe first. If it is heat, Elite first.

My quick rule: back and stomach sleepers usually start at Birch Natural, side sleepers usually start at Birch Luxe, hot sleepers start at Birch Elite.

Design and build

Birch uses a latex hybrid build: organic cotton on top, wool for temperature regulation and as part of the fire barrier approach, latex for pressure relief, and individually wrapped coils for support. This structure tends to age well compared to many all foam mattresses.

Cooling and the Cool Force layer

Latex hybrids generally sleep cooler than foam because air can move through the coil unit and latex does not trap heat the same way dense memory foam can. Wool also helps manage moisture and temperature swings.

The Birch Elite adds the Cool Force layer, which uses cooling strips intended to pull heat away from the surface so the bed stays more temperature stable.

Cool Force layer strips on the Birch Elite insert

Edge support

Edge support is one of Birch’s strengths. The coil system and reinforced perimeter give you a stable edge for sitting, tying shoes, or sleeping near the side without feeling like you are sliding off.

Who this mattress is for

Birch Natural is better if you

  • Sleep on your back or stomach and want a supportive medium firm feel
  • Prefer a buoyant surface and do not want to sink in
  • Want a natural mattress with minimal off gassing

Birch Luxe is better if you

  • Sleep on your side and want more pressure relief
  • Want the same supportive build but with a more cushioned top
  • Like latex but want it to feel softer at first contact

Birch Elite is better if you

  • Run hot and want the coolest Birch option
  • Want cooling features built into the mattress surface
  • Like latex hybrid support but want extra temperature control

Birch models compared

Model Best for Feel Why I would pick it
Birch Natural Back, stomach, combo sleepers Medium firm and buoyant Best baseline value if you want support and durability
Birch Luxe Side sleepers, pressure relief needs More cushioned, still responsive Best overall comfort for the widest range of people
Birch Elite Hot sleepers, warm climates Supportive with cooler surface feel Best choice if heat is the main thing ruining your sleep

FAQ

Which Birch model is the softest

Birch Luxe is typically the softest at the surface because it adds more cushioning for pressure relief. Birch Natural is the firmest feeling of the three for most people.

Which Birch model is best for hot sleepers

Birch Elite is the best match for hot sleepers because it adds cooling focused features, including the Cool Force layer, to help reduce surface heat buildup.

Do Birch mattresses have off gassing

Compared to foam mattresses, off gassing is typically minimal. Some people notice a light latex scent at first, which usually fades quickly.

WinkBed EcoCloud Mattress Review (2026): Is the Organic Hybrid Worth It?

Eco
Bottom line

The WinkBed EcoCloud is a genuinely organic hybrid mattress that avoids the typical firm-and-flat feel, offering a true medium firmness with responsive latex bounce. Best for combo and hot sleepers who prioritize certified organic materials and value comfort over deep contouring. However, it commands a premium price compared to conventional luxury hybrids.

WinkBed EcoCloud Mattress Review (2026): The "Soft" Organic?

WinkBed EcoCloud Review: The Organic Mattress for Side Sleepers?

Most organic mattresses feel like sleeping on a driveway. That is the nature of Dunlop latex—it's dense, hard, and unforgiving. The WinkBed EcoCloud flips the script by using 100% Talalay latex and a zoned coil system to create a truly "plush" organic hybrid.

After testing this in my showroom and comparing it against the Avocado and Birch, here is my straight-talk review.

  • Comfort: 4" Talalay Latex (Soft & Bouncy)
  • Support: 5-Zone Recycled Steel Coils
  • Cover: Organic Cotton & NZ Wool
  • Warranty: Lifetime "Forever" Warranty
  • Origin: Made in Wisconsin, USA
  • Trial: 120 Nights (Free Returns)

What's Inside? (And Why It Matters)

The EcoCloud is a 13-inch hybrid. That extra height (compared to the 11-inch standard organic beds) comes from the massive comfort layer.

WinkBed EcoCloud Internal Layers Diagram
  • Layer 1 (The Cover): Organic cotton quilted with New Zealand wool. This isn't just for looks; wool is a natural fire barrier (no fiberglass!) and it wicks moisture like crazy.
  • Layer 2 (The Magic): 4 inches of Talalay Latex. Talalay is flash-frozen during production, creating a "whipped" texture that is softer and more consistent than Dunlop. This is why it feels more like a hotel bed and less like a yoga mat.
  • Layer 3 (The Engine): A 5-zone pocketed coil system. The coils are tighter in the center third to push your hips up (essential for back pain relief) and reinforced on the edges so you don't roll off.
Ben's Lab Notes

My Personal Experience

I’ve tested hundreds of mattresses in my San Diego showroom, and organic beds are usually a tough sell for side sleepers. They often cause shoulder jamming.

The EcoCloud is different. When I drop my 14 lb. bowling ball on it (see the image below), you can see immediate sinkage, but with a rapid rebound. It doesn't trap the ball like memory foam, but it cradles it significantly more than the Avocado Green.

Testing bounce and sinkage on the WinkBed EcoCloud

The "Bounce" Factor: This bed is highly responsive. If you have "adult time" in mind, this is a Tier 1 choice. It works with your movement, not against it. However, because it's so bouncy, if you have a restless partner, you might feel them moving slightly more than you would on a dead-foam mattress.

Performance Data

I rate mattresses on a 1-10 scale based on physical testing. Here is how the EcoCloud scores.

Firmness (5.5/10 - Medium) Softer
Perfect for side sleeping; not too hard.
Cooling (9.5/10) Excellent
Latex + Coils = Maximum airflow. No heat trapping.
Bounce / Response (9/10) High
Instantly snaps back to shape. Great for sex.
Edge Support (9.5/10) Elite
WinkBed's "Extra-Edge" system is the best in the industry.
Motion Isolation (6.5/10) Average
You sacrifice some isolation to get this much bounce.

The Showdown: EcoCloud vs. Avocado vs. Birch

This is the question I get asked most often. "Ben, should I get the Avocado or the WinkBed?" Here is the cheat sheet.

Feature WinkBed EcoCloud Avocado Green Birch Natural
Latex Type 4" Talalay
(Whipped, Airy, Soft)
2" Dunlop
(Dense, Earthy, Firm)
Talalay
(Thinner Layer)
Feel Medium (5.5) Firm (7.0) Medium-Firm (6.5)
Primary Sleeper Side Sleepers Back/Stomach Sleepers Combo Sleepers
Edge Support Elite Good Good
Price (Queen) ~$1,799 ~$1,999 ~$1,699

The "Talalay Tax"

You'll notice the EcoCloud is competitively priced despite using 4 inches of Talalay latex. Talalay takes 4x longer to manufacture than Dunlop (it involves vacuum sealing and flash freezing). This is why the EcoCloud feels so much more luxurious than the Avocado—you are literally sleeping on a more refined material.

Who Should Buy This?

  • Side Sleepers: The pressure relief on hips/shoulders is superior to almost any other organic bed.
  • Hot Sleepers: Zero foam means zero heat retention.
  • Edge Sitters: If you put your socks on sitting on the edge of the bed, this offers stable support.
  • Eco-Conscious Parents: Safe materials, no fiberglass, no glues.

Who Should Skip It?

  • Stomach Sleepers (Heavy): You might find your hips sinking in too far. Look at the Avocado instead.
  • Memory Foam Lovers: If you want that "quicksand" hug, this is too bouncy for you.
  • Light Sleepers: If your partner tosses and turns violently, you might feel it.

Pricing & Value

WinkBeds produces these in Wisconsin. They use American-sourced recycled steel. The build quality is noticeably higher than the budget imports.

Ben's Final Verdict

If you want an organic mattress but hate how hard they usually feel, the EcoCloud is the solution. It's the only one that successfully mimics the comfort of a luxury hotel mattress while keeping the materials clean and green.

The Plank mattress, along with the Plank Luxe and other mattress models, is manufactured by Brooklyn Bedding, an American company established in 1995. This means the Plank mattress has been around for close to a decade, although the exact launch date isn’t readily available.

Here’s a breakdown of Brooklyn Bedding and the Plank mattress:

  • Company: Brooklyn Bedding (established in 1995)
  • Mattress: Plank (available in two versions: Plank and Plank Luxe)
  • Availability: Since around 2014 (estimated)

While the Plank may not be the oldest mattress model on the market, it benefits from Brooklyn Bedding’s long-standing experience in the industry and commitment to quality craftsmanship. The company is known for using high-quality materials, offering various mattress types, and providing customer-friendly policies like long trial periods and warranties.

The Plank mattress is a firm, flat, and supportive mattress that is designed to provide neutral spine alignment. It is made with a layer of high-density foam that is designed to reduce pressure points and provide support for the entire body. The Plank mattress is also flippable, so you can choose between a firm and extra-firm side.

There are three models of the Plank mattress available to buy:

  • Plank Firm: The Plank Firm is the firmest of the three models. It is a good choice for sleepers who are looking for a very firm mattress that provides good support.
    Plank Firm mattress
  • Plank Firm Luxe: The Plank Firm Luxe is a slightly softer version of the Plank Firm. It is a good choice for sleepers who are looking for a firm mattress that provides good support and some pressure relief.
    Plank Firm Luxe mattress

  • Plank Firm Natural: The Plank Firm Natural is made with natural and organic materials. It is a good choice for sleepers who are looking for a firm mattress that is also eco-friendly.
    Plank Firm Natural mattress

All three models of the Plank mattress are available in a variety of sizes, including twin, twin XL, full, queen, king, and California king.

The Plank mattress is a good choice for sleepers who are looking for a firm mattress that provides good support. It is also a good choice for sleepers who have back pain or other musculoskeletal problems. However, it is important to note that the Plank mattress is a very firm mattress and may not be suitable for all sleepers.

If you are considering buying a Plank mattress, I recommend that you try it out for yourself before you buy it. The Plank mattress is available to try at Yawnder and is available to purchase through our website.

I recently received a free Plank Mattress from Brooklyn Bedding for review. This is the ideal mattress for people that like a really firm mattress. This is a two-sided, all foam mattress where one side is firm and the other side is really firm! If you don’t like a firm mattress, stay away from the Plank. If you do like a firm, supportive mattress that has zero motion transfer this is for you.

Overview of the Plank Mattress

The Plank mattress comes shipped in a box to your doorstep about 5 days after placing the order on their website. It comes with a 120-night trial where you can try it out in your home and if you don’t like it, returns are free. It is made in the USA in Arizona. The parent company of Plank is Brooklyn Bedding and I have reviewed a number of their mattresses. What I like about this company is that they are factory direct so you get a lot of value because there aren’t any markups along the way.

Here’s a video overview highlighting the main features of the mattress including a look inside.

My Plank Mattress Findings

This is hands down the firmest mattress I have slept on. That said it was by no means uncomfortable especially if you know what you are getting into. I certainly don’t recommend this for side sleepers as you will probably find it too uncomfortably on your hips and shoulders. Back and side sleepers that need extra support will really enjoy this mattress.

This mattress can be flipped and when you look at the construction the difference between each side is that the firm side lacks the 2 inches of Titan Flex foam. So basically, you are sleeping 1.5 inches of the quilted cover with the support foam underneath. That’s about as firm as it gets before you may want to question why you need to sleep on a mattress at all.

Here’s a pick of the firmness on the”soft side”.

plank mattress firmness

If you are going for a really firm mattress, it makes sense to go with a foam mattress because springs really won’t provide any value. Springs are used to help with contouring without losing support. But if you don’t need much contouring to begin with, springs will just add unwanted motion transfer.

Here you can see how little I sink into the Plank.

plank sink

This mattress inherently sleeps cool because you don’t sink into the mattress that much and therefore your body isn’t surrounded by material. This also makes it much easier to move around on. For an extra $250 you can add the PCM cover for extra cooling but in my opinion, it probably isn’t necessary.

Because this is a relatively simple construction, the mattress is fairly light and therefore easy to move. Since it is firm it’s not that wobbly either.

My Plank Mattress Recommendation

If you know you like a really firm mattress with excellent support and no motion transfer, the Plank is an excellent choice. Side sleepers should probably look elsewhere but back and stomach sleepers will really appreciate the support and overall value this mattress provides.

Plank Mattress Construction

All three Plank mattress models (Firm, Firm Luxe, and Firm Natural) share the same basic construction:

  • Cover: The cover is made of a soft and breathable fabric. It is removable and machine-washable.
  • Comfort layer: The comfort layer is made of a thin layer of soft foam. This layer provides some pressure relief and helps to make the mattress more comfortable to sleep on.
  • Support core: The support core is made of a thick layer of high-density foam. This layer provides support for the entire body and helps to maintain neutral spine alignment.

The Plank Firm and Plank Firm Natural mattresses have the same construction, except for the materials used in the cover and comfort layer. The Plank Firm mattress has a synthetic cover and comfort layer, while the Plank Firm Natural mattress has an organic cover and comfort layer.

The Plank Firm Luxe mattress has a slightly different construction than the other two models. It has an additional layer of medium-density foam between the comfort layer and the support core. This additional layer provides more pressure relief and makes the mattress more comfortable to sleep on.

Here is a more detailed breakdown of the construction of each Plank mattress model:

Plank Firm:

  • Cover: Synthetic fabric
  • Comfort layer: Synthetic foam
  • Support core: High-density foam

Plank Firm Natural:

  • Cover: Organic fabric
  • Comfort layer: Organic foam
  • Support core: High-density foam

Plank Firm Luxe:

  • Cover: Synthetic fabric
  • Comfort layer: Synthetic foam
  • Transition layer: Medium-density foam
  • Support core: High-density foam

All Plank mattresses are made in the United States and come with a 10-year warranty.

How Much Do Plank Mattresses Cost?

The price of the Plank mattress varies depending on the model and size. Here is a table of the prices for all three Plank mattress models in all sizes:

ModelTwinTwin XLFullQueenKingCalifornia King
Plank Firm$562$622$742$892$1,042$1,149

Plank Firm Natural$662$722$842$992$1,142$1,249

As you can see, the Plank Firm Natural mattress is the most expensive of the three models. This is because it is made with natural and organic materials.

The Plank mattress is a good choice for sleepers who are looking for a firm mattress that provides good support. However, it is important to note that the Plank mattress is a more expensive mattress than some other options on the market.

If you are considering buying a Plank mattress, I recommend that you shop around and compare prices before you buy. The Plank mattress is available from a variety of retailers, both online and in-store. You can also purchase the Plank mattress directly from the Plank mattress website.

Which Side Of Plank To Sleep On Based On Sleep Position

Sleeping PositionPlank Mattress (Traditional Firm)Considerations
Back SleepersGood: The firm support can align the spine and provide pressure relief on the lower back.Choose the softer side for slightly more cushioning, while the firmer side offers more support for heavier individuals.
Stomach SleepersGood: The firmness prevents excessive sinkage, keeping the hips and spine aligned.Opt for the firmer side for optimal support, especially for heavier individuals.
Side SleepersNeutral: The firmness might be too firm for some, potentially causing pressure points on shoulders and hips.Consider adding a soft mattress topper for pressure relief, especially on the firmer side.

Additional Notes:

  • This table is a general guide, and your personal experience may vary.
  • Individual factors like body weight, pain points, and personal preferences significantly impact the best sleeping position on the Plank mattress.
  • Trying both sides of the mattress and experimenting with different sleeping positions is crucial to find the most comfortable option for you.
  • Remember, the Plank Luxe mattress offers an extra layer of latex for slightly more pressure relief, potentially benefiting side sleepers more than the traditional Plank

Plank Mattress Complaints

Here are some common complaints about the Plank mattress:

  • Too firm for some sleepers: The Plank mattress is a very firm mattress. This may be too firm for some sleepers, especially those who are used to a softer mattress.
  • May not be suitable for side sleepers: The Plank mattress may not be the best choice for side sleepers, as it may not provide enough pressure relief for the hips and shoulders.
  • More expensive than some other mattresses: The Plank mattress is a more expensive mattress than some other options on the market.
  • Edge support could be better: Some sleepers have complained that the edge support on the Plank mattress is not very good. This means that you may feel like you are rolling off the edge of the bed if you sleep near the edge.
  • Off-gassing: Some sleepers have complained about an off-gassing odor when they first opened their Plank mattress. This odor is typically harmless and will dissipate over time.

Overall, the Plank mattress is a good choice for sleepers who are looking for a firm mattress that provides good support. However, it is important to note that the Plank mattress is a very firm mattress and may not be suitable for all sleepers.

If you are considering buying a Plank mattress, I recommend that you read reviews from other customers before you buy. This will help you to get a better idea of what to expect from the mattress. You may also want to try out the Plank mattress in a store before you buy it. This will give you a chance to see if the mattress is comfortable for you.

Plank Mattress Edge Support

Both the Plank and Plank Luxe mattresses are known for their exceptional edge support, thanks to their high-density foam base and construction. However, there are some slight differences between the two:

Plank Mattress:

  • Excellent edge support: Many reviews and testing reports praise the Plank Mattress’s consistent firmness and good edge support across the entire sleeping surface.
  • Firm construction: Its traditional firm feel contributes to the strong edges, allowing sleepers to utilize the full width of the mattress without experiencing significant sinkage.
  • Potential downside: Due to its overall firmness, some side sleepers might find the edges a bit too firm for their comfort.

Plank Luxe:

  • Excellent edge support: Like the Plank, the Luxe also boasts strong edges due to its high-density foam base and core construction.
  • Responsive latex layer: While the latex layer adds some pressure relief, its overall firmness ensures good edge support for sitting and sleeping near the perimeter.
  • Potential downside: Similar to the Plank, the Luxe’s firmness might be less suitable for side sleepers who prefer softer edges for shoulder pressure relief.

Overall:

  • Both Plank and Plank Luxe offer significantly better edge support than many all-foam mattresses due to their sturdy construction.
  • Individual preferences and sleeping positions might influence which one feels more comfortable in terms of edge support.
  • Side sleepers seeking softer edges might benefit from additional padding or a different mattress altogether.

Plank vs. Winkbed Firm

The Plank mattress and the WinkBed Firm are both firm mattresses that are designed to provide good support. However, there are some key differences between the two mattresses that may make one a better fit for you than the other.

Plank mattress

  • Construction: The Plank mattress is made with a single layer of high-density foam. This makes it a very firm mattress that is designed to provide good support for the entire body.
  • Firmness: The Plank mattress is a very firm mattress. It is a good choice for sleepers who are looking for a mattress that provides good support and pressure relief.
  • Pressure relief: The Plank mattress is not as good at relieving pressure as some other mattresses on the market. This is because it is made with a single layer of high-density foam.
  • Edge support: The edge support on the Plank mattress is not very good. This means that you may feel like you are rolling off the edge of the bed if you sleep near the edge.

WinkBed Firm

  • Construction: The WinkBed Firm is made with a combination of foam and coils. This makes it a firm mattress that is designed to provide good support and pressure relief.
  • Firmness: The WinkBed Firm is a firm mattress, but it is not as firm as the Plank mattress. It is a good choice for sleepers who are looking for a firm mattress that provides good support and pressure relief.
  • Pressure relief: The WinkBed Firm is better at relieving pressure than the Plank mattress. This is because it is made with a combination of foam and coils.
  • Edge support: The edge support on the WinkBed Firm is better than the Plank mattress. This means that you are less likely to feel like you are rolling off the edge of the bed if you sleep near the edge.

Overall, the Plank mattress is a better choice for sleepers who are looking for a very firm mattress that provides good support. The WinkBed Firm is a better choice for sleepers who are looking for a firm mattress that provides good support and pressure relief.

Firm Mattresses Similar to the Plank Mattress

Here are some firm mattresses similar to the Plank Mattress:

Frequently Asked Questions About Plank Mattress Review: The Best Firm Choice for Support

Is the Plank mattress worth it for someone looking for a very firm bed?

Yes, the Plank mattress is an excellent choice for individuals prioritizing superior firmness, as it is one of the most robust options available. Users often report significant relief from back pain, highlighting its effectiveness as a supportive sleeping surface. The Plank mattress distinguishes itself with a unique flippable design offering both firm and extra-firm sides, allowing for customizable comfort. Additionally, it offers both all-foam and hybrid versions, and it is competitively priced for a luxury product, providing excellent value compared to similar high-quality mattresses. Bottom line

The Molekule Air Mini Plus is a compact air purifier designed for small spaces, utilizing PECO technology instead of traditional HEPA filters. It specializes in destroying pollutants at a molecular level, making it suitable for individuals concerned about airborne allergens, viruses, and VOCs. Molekule Air Mini Plus Review 2026 – PECO vs HEPA And Long Term Value

Molekule started as a science project in the 1990s when Dr. Yogi Goswami tried to fix his son’s severe asthma by attacking indoor air pollution at a molecular level. That lab work became PECO, the tech behind today’s Molekule air purifiers. In this review I walk through that story, the current Molekule lineup, and my real world experience running the full size Molekule Air and the Air Mini in a bedroom full of foam mattress off gassing, plus how it stacks up to more traditional HEPA units on performance, noise and price.

Short version: Molekule’s PECO HEPA filter does a better job with odors and VOCs in my testing than the HEPA units I have used, but coverage and price mean it works best as a premium bedroom upgrade rather than a whole house solution.

Molekule Air Mini Plus PECO HEPA Allergy relief

Bottom line

If your main concern is allergies, chemical smells or constant mattress and furniture off gassing in a small or medium bedroom, the Molekule Air Mini Plus can absolutely help. It looks good, it is quiet on lower settings and it noticeably cut my morning sneezing when I left it running in Auto or Silent mode. The tradeoff is price and coverage. You are paying premium money for a stylish small room unit with a more complex filter that costs more to replace, while some cheaper HEPA purifiers can move air faster for the same footprint.

Scores reflect my bedroom testing with the full size Molekule Air and Air Mini running in rooms between about 150 and 300 square feet, plus a review of independent lab tests, published CADR data and long term user feedback.

Design and noise in a real bedroom

Molekule is one of the few purifiers I have tested that people actually compliment when they see it. It looks more like a piece of audio gear than an appliance, with a clean cylinder, fabric wrap and a simple touch surface up top. The leather style handle on the Mini makes it easy to carry between rooms and the cord wraps neatly underneath so you are not staring at a cable nest.

Out of the box, setup was basically plug in, lift it out of the bag and connect to WiFi through the app. The packaging is thoughtful: instead of more plastic, the purifier arrives in a reusable cloth bag inside the main box.

Noise is where the Mini shows both its strengths and weaknesses. On Silent and Low it fades into the background easily and works fine for sleep. On Boost it moves a lot more air but becomes the dominant sound in the room. In my own bedroom I leave it on Auto so it ramps up only when it sees a spike, or I lock it on Low overnight and Boost during the day when I am not in the room.

Setup, app and smart features

The current Molekule Air Mini Plus uses what the company now calls a PECO HEPA Tri Power filter. That means you get a HEPA layer to capture particles, a layer of activated carbon for gases and smells and the PECO catalyst that is activated by UV A light to break down pollutants at a molecular level.

The unboxing and setup process is simple:

  • Lift the unit out of the cloth bag and remove protective plastic
  • Plug it in and follow the on device prompts
  • Download the Molekule app, connect to your WiFi network and register the purifier
  • Let it run an initial clean cycle, then switch to Auto or your preferred mode

The Mini Plus is rated for rooms up to about 250 square feet and includes a particle sensor so it can adjust the fan automatically in Auto mode. In the app you can:

  • Monitor particulate levels over time
  • Switch between Silent, Low, Medium, High and Boost
  • See remaining filter life and manage filter subscriptions
  • Use scheduling so it runs harder at certain times of day
Molekule app cleanup and air quality graph screenshot

PECO vs HEPA in real use

Instead of only trapping particles like a normal HEPA filter, PECO uses light activated chemistry on the filter surface to break pollutants down into carbon dioxide and water. In manufacturer supported lab tests, PECO has shown the ability to reduce VOCs and tiny bioaerosols that are smaller than what standard HEPA is designed to catch.

In my house the difference shows up most clearly when I am unboxing foam mattresses. A typical HEPA purifier will eventually remove the smell, but it can take a couple of days before the room feels neutral. With Molekule running in Boost for the first afternoon and then on Auto, new mattress smell faded noticeably faster and my usual morning congestion almost disappeared by day two.

Independent testing is less generous. Some labs have found that the original Air and Air Mini cleaned smoke particles more slowly than cheaper HEPA units, especially when judged purely on CADR scores. That tells me the sweet spot for Molekule is not dust storms in a big living room, but steady background cleaning in a bedroom where odors, VOCs and allergy triggers matter more than raw speed.

Is Molekule better than a HEPA filter?

Short answer: it depends what you care about. Molekule’s PECO HEPA filter does three jobs at once. The HEPA media captures particles, the carbon handles gases and smells and the PECO catalyst uses light to break some pollutants apart instead of only holding them. A traditional HEPA purifier focuses on efficiently capturing particles and often uses a carbon pad for some odor reduction.

In my bedroom, Molekule wins on smell control, allergy relief and looks. A good HEPA unit wins on dollars per cubic foot of air cleaned, especially for larger spaces. If you have serious wildfire smoke coming through your windows, a high CADR HEPA purifier like Coway AP 1512HH or Blueair Blue Pure often gives more raw firepower for less money, while Molekule leans into chemistry and design.

Long term value and ownership experience

Molekule is honest to own in the sense that you know you are paying a premium. The Air Mini and Mini Plus sit in the higher end of the small room purifier category. Filter subscriptions add an ongoing cost that is higher than most HEPA units in this size range.

In my house, the value comes from a few specific upgrades:

  • Noticeable drop in morning sneezing and congestion when it runs overnight
  • Clearly faster reduction in foam mattress and paint smells compared with my older HEPA purifier
  • A design that does not look out of place in a bedroom and is easy to move and live with

On the other side of the ledger, you are paying more for less coverage, you may see less dramatic particle reduction numbers than some review sites expect and you are locked into more expensive filter cartridges. For many people a strong HEPA purifier is the smarter first purchase. Molekule makes more sense if you have already tried HEPA and want better odor and VOC handling in a small space, or if design and quiet low speed operation are high priorities.

Who the Molekule Air Mini Plus is for

  • People with allergies or asthma who want a premium small room purifier focused on gases, smells and fine particles
  • Anyone unboxing new mattresses or furniture often and wants off gassing to clear faster
  • Light sleepers who need quiet low fan speeds and do not want an ugly appliance in the bedroom
  • Tech forward shoppers who like app control, air history and a design that feels more like a piece of decor

Not ideal if you want maximum coverage for the lowest price, want one purifier to handle a large open floor plan, or you are very sensitive to ongoing filter costs.

Price, filters and subscriptions

Molekule sells a small lineup of purifiers built around the same PECO HEPA idea: Air Mini / Mini Plus for rooms up to about 250 square feet, Air Pro for larger spaces and some business focused units from the AeroClean side of the company. Pricing moves with promos, but the Minis live in that mid to upper tier of the small room category.

Filters are where you need to do the math. The typical recommendation is:

  • PECO HEPA Tri Power filter: replace about every 6 months
  • Pre filter layer: built into the main cartridge for the Mini, so the whole piece gets swapped

You can buy filters one off or subscribe at a discount. Over a three year window the total cost of the purifier plus filters ends up higher than many HEPA competitors, so it is worth looking at the numbers based on how long you plan to keep it.

How I test air purifiers

For Molekule I focused on bedroom and office use, not lab grade CADR testing. My process included:

  • Running Molekule Air and Air Mini in rooms between about 150 and 300 square feet with doors and windows closed
  • Unboxing new foam mattresses in the room and tracking how long odors persisted compared with a comparable HEPA unit
  • Subjective allergy tracking: morning sneezing, nasal congestion and eye irritation with and without the purifier running overnight
  • Spot checking with an inexpensive PM2.5 sensor to see relative changes when I turned the unit off and on
  • Reviewing manufacturer data, independent VOC and bioaerosol tests and third party product reviews to cross check my impressions

FAQ

Is Molekule better than a HEPA filter?

Molekule is different rather than flat out better. A classic HEPA purifier is a particle workhorse that captures dust, pollen and smoke with very high efficiency and often at a lower total cost of ownership. Molekule’s PECO HEPA approach aims to go further by also breaking down certain gases, odors and tiny bioaerosols on the filter surface. In my experience Molekule does a better job with chemical smells and lingering off gassing, while high CADR HEPA units often win on raw particle removal speed and cost per square foot of coverage.

Is Molekule worth it long term?

If you want one purifier to cover a large open space as cheaply as possible, probably not. You can get more coverage and faster particle removal from a good HEPA purifier for less money. If you have a smaller bedroom and you care a lot about odor control, VOC reduction, aesthetics and quieter low fan speeds, the Air Mini Plus can absolutely be worth it. Just go in knowing that filters and electricity will cost more than simpler HEPA units over a five year window, and that some independent testers have been underwhelmed when they only looked at CADR.

Does Molekule detect mold?

Molekule does not specifically detect mold or tell you “you have mold in this room.” The Air Mini Plus and Air Pro include particle sensors that can detect changes in particulate matter but they do not identify exact sources. The PECO HEPA filter can capture and help destroy airborne mold spores and other biological particles as air passes through, so it can be part of a mold strategy, but you still need to fix moisture issues at the source and use professional testing if you suspect a serious mold problem.

Who owns Molekule now?

Molekule started as a family company built around the Goswami family’s PECO research. In January 2023, AeroClean Technologies completed an all stock merger with Molekule and the combined company is now Molekule Group Inc, trading under the ticker MKUL. That means the brand is now part of a larger public company, with ownership split between former AeroClean and Molekule shareholders.

Ananda is a company that offers a complete sleep solution. They offer a memory foam mattress with cooling cover and an adjustable base with all the popular features for an extremely competitive price. A queen size Ananda mattress and adjustable base retails for $1,299. Both the base and mattress come shipped to your door in a box and both come with a 120 night trial with free returns.

Overview of the Ananda Mattress

Here’s a quick video overview of the entire sleep system which again includes the adjustable bed and mattress.

As you can see below the adjustable bed and mattress both come in a box and are shipped straight to your door. No need to schedule a delivery.

I first setup the adjustable bed which is very straightforward. The queen size basically comes folded in half.

All you need to do is unfold the base and all the parts can be found there.

The first step is to screw in the legs and take out all the other pieces including the remote.

You get 3 options to operate the Adjustable Base: Backlit Wireless Remote Control (Included), “Ananda Base Wifi” Remote Control App for Phones or Mobile Devices (Alexa, Siri, Google), or Voice-activated commands through the Amazon Alexa App and Device (not included). This means you can ask Alexa to raise or lower your bed without having to use your remote!

After you get the base setup its time to get out the mattress. It comes wrapped in a box.

How Much Does the Ananda Mattress Cost?

Below are the prices of the Ananda Sleep System as of this writing. Remember, you get both the mattress and adjustable bed so this is a really good deal.

Construction of the Ananda Mattress

Below are the construction details of the mattress. It is an all foam mattress that is 12 inches deep.

Ananda Construction

My Ananda Sleep Findings

Starting out with the mattress, it is promoted as a medium firmness which I would say is accurate. Maybe just slightly softer than most all foam mattresses labeled medium firm. Here’s a picture that illustrates how much sinkage you get with my 14 lb. bowling ball.

Ananda Sink

Here’s another look at sinkage with the cover off.

inside sinkageIt has a zippered cover which is machine washable although I always recommend a mattress protector as sometimes these covers can be hard to get back on.

zipper coverHere’s a video illustrating motion transfer on the mattress.

Here’s a look at the inside of the mattress so you can get a better sense of how the layers work and how it will feel.

My Ananda Recommendation

For the money, it’s really hard to beat all that you get with this mattress. If you are already in the market for an adjustable bed, this price alone for the adjustable is a great value. When you add in the mattress it makes it an even harder deal to resist. I think the mattress will appeal to most sleepers and all sleep styles. It is made with quality foam that doesn’t sleep hot and recovers relatively quickly. Since you get a 120 night trial on both the mattress and adjustable it is definitely worth trying. If you aren’t happy with either you can return them but if for instance, the mattress isn’t ideal, it would make a great guest room mattress and you can put your existing mattress on the adjustable.

Frequently Asked Questions About Ananda Mattress Review

Is the Ananda mattress worth it for the price?

Yes, the Ananda Sleep System, including both the mattress and adjustable base for $1,299 (queen size), offers remarkable value for its features and quality. This price point makes it an attractive option for those seeking both a mattress and a feature-rich adjustable base. It provides compelling choice in the bed-in-a-box market for a budget-friendly sleep solution.

Who is the Ananda mattress best suited for?

The Ananda mattress is best suited for individuals or couples seeking a budget-friendly sleep solution that includes both a quality memory foam mattress and a feature-rich adjustable base. It is also ideal for light sleepers or couples due to its design minimizing motion transfer. The customizable height of the adjustable base also makes it versatile to fit various bedroom setups.

How does the Ananda mattress feel in terms of firmness?

The Ananda mattress is marketed as medium firmness, which our testing at Yawnder found to be a fair description, though it feels slightly softer than many mattresses labeled as medium-firm. A 14-pound bowling ball sinks moderately into the mattress surface, demonstrating the level of contouring you can expect. This provides a balance of comfort and support for an all-foam design.

What are the downsides of the Ananda mattress system?

One minor downside of the Ananda mattress is that while it has a machine-washable zippered cover, it can be tricky to put back on after washing, so using a mattress protector is recommended. Additionally, while the adjustable base offers voice controls, an Amazon Alexa device is not included and must be purchased separately if you desire that specific feature. These are small considerations given the overall value proposition.

Is the Ananda mattress good for couples?

Yes, the Ananda mattress is designed to minimize motion transfer, making it a good choice for couples or light sleepers who may be disturbed by movement on the bed. This feature allows both partners to move without significantly impacting the other's sleep quality. The adjustable base also offers individual control over bed positioning, enhancing comfort for both users.

Where can I try the Ananda mattress in person?

The article suggests that interested customers can visit our San Diego showroom in Encinitas, CA, for a hands-on experience with products. While the text doesn't explicitly state the Ananda is on display, Yawnder is a retailer of mattresses. We invite customers to visit to see if the Ananda mattress or similar products are available for testing.

What Factors Matter?

  • Right off the bat, one must say that the word “best” is not very defining but encompasses various parameters such as returns, customer service, prices, delivery and brands. For example, if you are looking for specialist brands or types of mattresses, the best store may not have it in stock. As can be seen, most stores sell popular and fast-moving brands like Sealy, Seta, Tempur-Pedic, Stearns and Foster and Simmons.
  • For some people, returns may be the most important thing. You may buy a mattress online based on its looks, but you will find it uncomfortable. If you have the ease of free returns and a full refund or free exchange you will rate that store to be the best above others that charge processing fees. Mattresses may be good for 3 months after which they are likely to develop hollows due to body weight, and you feel like returning it. In this case, sellers that offer an extended trial period may be to your liking.
  • Then again you may be the type that likes to buy top quality mattresses, and you look for the lowest price. In this case, the store that offers the lowest price with free doorstep delivery is potentially the best for you.
  • A mattress is not something you can tuck under your arm and carry home. Therefore, if you shop at a local brick and mortar store, you want a store that has both varieties in types of mattress and various brands in addition to free delivery. If you find a store in your neighbourhood that satisfies these criteria, then it is the best for you.

Industry Sales:

  • The global mattress market is expected to grow from about 35 billion U.S. dollars in 2021 to 43 billion dollars by 2026, indicating a continued increase in demand. (Source: Statista)
  • In the U.S., wholesale dollar value of mattress shipments increased by 12.8% from 2020 to 2021, but then dropped by 12.1% from 2021 to 2022, suggesting a possible market slowdown.

Store Numbers:

  • There are more than 9,200 mattress stores in the United States, though the exact number might fluctuate due to store openings and closures.
  • Larger chains like Mattress Firm experienced store closures in 2023, while online mattress sales continue to rise. This suggests a shift in the retail landscape.

Online vs. In-Store Shopping:

  • In 2022, 43% of mattress buyers purchased online, compared to 42% who bought in-store. This trend towards online shopping is likely to continue. (Source: Sleep Doctor)
  • Online-first mattress brands like Casper and Purple are seeing strong growth, further impacting the traditional retail model. (Source: Statista)

Consumer Preferences:

  • Comfort and support are still the top priorities for mattress buyers, but cooling features and adjustability are becoming increasingly popular. (Source: National Sleep Foundation)
  • Consumers are also more likely to research and compare prices online before making a purchase, highlighting the importance of a strong online presence for mattress retailers. (Source: Furniture Today)

Overall:

The mattress industry is undergoing some changes, with a potential slowdown in sales growth and a shift towards online shopping. However, the demand for quality mattresses remains strong, and retailers who adapt to changing consumer preferences and embrace digital strategies are likely to succeed.

Once You are At the Best Mattress Store, How Do You Shop There?

The amount of time people spend mattress shopping can vary greatly depending on several factors, including:

Individual needs and preferences: Someone with specific requirements or a complex sleep situation might spend more time researching and trying out mattresses than someone with simpler needs.

Budget: People on tighter budgets might need to compare prices more carefully and explore more options, potentially taking longer to decide.

Shopping style: Some prefer quick and decisive purchases, while others enjoy doing extensive research and visiting multiple stores before making a choice.

Availability of information: With easy online access to reviews and comparisons, people might spend less time in physical stores but longer researching online.

Here’s a rough estimate of possible timeframes:

  • 2-4 weeks: This is a common timeframe for people who actively research, visit stores, and try out different mattresses before making a decision.
  • Shorter duration (a few days to a week): This might be the case for those with simpler needs, limited budgets, or impulse purchases.
  • Longer duration (months or more): People with complex needs, indecisiveness, or limited physical access to stores might take longer to choose.

Additionally, consider these factors that can influence shopping time:

  • Seasonality: Sales and promotions might attract more shoppers and extend the decision-making process.
  • Availability of in-store consultations: Talking to sleep experts can provide valuable insights but add to the overall time spent.
  • Trial periods: Offering trial periods allows people to test the mattress at home, potentially extending the overall timeframe.

Tips for efficient mattress shopping:

  • Define your needs and budget: Knowing what you want and how much you can spend helps narrow down options.
  • Do online research: Read reviews, compare features, and explore brands before visiting stores.
  • Use trial periods: Test the mattress at home before committing to the purchase.
  • Seek expert advice: Consult sleep specialists or salespeople for personalized recommendations.
  • Don’t rush the decision: Take your time to find the perfect mattress for your needs and comfort.

Polysleep Pillow Review

Bottom line

The Polysleep Pillow is a customizable pillow featuring ventilated viscoelastic hybrid foam layers for personalized comfort. It is ideal for sleepers seeking an adjustable pillow without the typical mess, though its non-washable material may be a drawback for some. This innovative design offers a luxurious feel and resilient support.

The Polysleep Pillow

The Polysleep Pillow is yet another product in the galaxy of customizable pillows. It doesn’t look very different from other customizable pillows but what is different is the ventilated viscoelastic hybrid foam inside of it. Unlike many customizable pillows, this is not one that will leave behind any type of mess, being that you’re working with 4 separate pieces of foam to build the pillow to your liking. The Polysleep Pillow comes with a 30-night trial, meaning that if you aren’t fully satisfied with your purchase than Polysleep will refund you in full.

Overview of the Polysleep Pillow

Here’s a quick video overview of the pillow including unboxing:

The first thing that I like about the pillow is that it doesn’t contain a lot of little pieces. This can get messy whether you’re taking out a lot of foam or even just a little. Polysleep has 4 different layers inside of it, each made up of its own layer of foam. It’s sold at a super reasonable price which is $59 USD and I do believe that you’re getting your money’s worth. It’s made up of a hybrid memory foam which means it’s a newer generation of memory foam.

Construction of the Polysleep Pillow

The Polysleep Pillow comes in one size which is 19″ x 26″. Just from a quick look, it seems to be within perfectly normal industry standards. Some pillows can be too long or too small, almost as if by accident like they JUST missed the mark. Not in this case. One size for their pillow is all they need, especially with the intention it was designed for, such as ease of use and personal customization.

The measurements of the 4 layers are:

  • 1 piece that measures 1”
  • 1 piece that measures 1 ¼”
  • 2 pieces that measure ¾”

The pillow has a 100% cotton sleeve on the outside, along with inner polyester microfiber inner layer to give it some volume and softness.  It has 400mg of microfiber fill to give it that cotton-cloud-like luxurious feel.

My Polysleep Pillow Findings

One of the things that confused me the most was what Polysleep meant when they classified their foam as “viscoelastic hybrid foam.” I was reading that foam is either viscoelastic, making it a memory foam, or it’s not, making it a hybrid foam or something else altogether, such as latex foam. But as with most things we don’t understand, all you have to do is ask. I spoke with Polysleep and I was educated about how we were dealing with a newer generation of memory foam. Memory foam was initially invented in the 60’s and while it had some positive properties, it had some negatives as well. For instance, most memory foams don’t react well to temperature but Polyleep’s is resistant to temperature change. It also withstands wear and tear much better than original memory foam since it has better density. The foam density is 3 lbs per square foot. The term “visco” means water-like and it would explain why it had an interesting wet-but-not-really feel. As juvenile as the made-up term is, it’s the best way I could possibly explain it. Let’s not forget the other part of the word “viscoelastic,” which is the elastic part. This pillow is malleable, meaning you can roll it and fold it but it’ll also bounce back almost instantly despite the pressure exerted on it.

One big negative for me is that the pillow is not washable by traditional method. The outer cover of the pillow also cannot be washed but it can be spot cleaned and it can also be machine dried, however only at a very low temperature.

This is fine for people who can afford, and don’t mind, to replace their pillow every couple of months but for people looking to hold onto something for a while, I’m not sure it’s ideal.

While the concept of the customizable pillow experience is not new, their hybrid foam does seem to be.

One recommendation that I have for Polysleep, which could be seen as really appealing on the consumer’s end, would be to devise a “cleaning kit” or cleaning guideline book to go along w/ the release of this or any pillow. While I’m aware that a majority of foams cannot be washed in the traditional way most of us are familiar with (aka, soap + water), apparently memory foam + hybrid foams can be cleaned via alternate methods but I did not have a chance to inquire about theirs.

When it comes to these newly released generations of foam, the company engineering the material really have ALL the power in how the general public will perceive it. I am talking about more than a good slogan. There is an opportunity to educate people on how to do things differently when it comes to materials that quite simply just did not exist before.

My Polysleep Pillow Recommendation

When I first saw the Polysleep Pillow I didn’t think I would be impressed. I am usually all about clever marketing and I love how companies can get creative when they share products with the mass public but I wasn’t exactly impressed or moved by theirs. Being told that a pillow can cater to every personality felt a little silly to me but I do understand what they were getting at. If it were to cater to “every sleeper,” sure, but the wording didn’t gauge much of a reaction from me. Regardless of what the marketing campaign has to say, that’s a criticism to their marketing department, not to their pillow and definitely not to their engineering team.

It’s such a cliche but the pillow does speak for itself. Actually, I was prepared to dislike your product but ended up actually liking it. I suppose it’s easy to think you’ve made up your mind about something only to then have it beg you to reconsider. What can I say? You win.

Frequently Asked Questions About Polysleep Pillow Review

Is the Polysleep Pillow worth the price?

Yes, the Polysleep Pillow is considered a reasonable investment at $59 USD due to its quality and innovative design. It utilizes a modern generation of memory foam for comfort and durability, making it a compelling choice for a good night's sleep.

What are the main drawbacks of the Polysleep Pillow?

The primary drawback of the Polysleep Pillow is its limited cleaning options, as neither the pillow nor the outer cover can be machine washed. The outer cover can only be spot-cleaned and dried on low heat, which makes maintenance a bit tricky for long-term care.

How does the Polysleep Pillow achieve its customizable feel?

The Polysleep Pillow achieves its customizable feel by including four distinct foam layers that can be adjusted rather than relying on messy small pieces. These layers consist of one 1-inch piece, one 1.25-inch piece, and two 0.75-inch pieces, allowing users to personalize their pillow with ease.

Is the Polysleep Pillow good for people concerned about overheating?

Yes, the Polysleep Pillow is designed to address temperature responsiveness, a common concern with traditional memory foam. Its ventilated viscoelastic hybrid foam technology ensures the foam remains resilient against temperature changes, providing a cooler sleep experience.

How does the viscoelastic hybrid foam in the Polysleep Pillow differ from traditional memory foam?

The viscoelastic hybrid foam in the Polysleep Pillow improves upon traditional memory foam by offering better temperature responsiveness and quicker rebound. This modern material, with a density of 3 lbs per cubic foot, provides gentle support and pleasant malleability while maintaining its shape night after night.

Where can I try the Polysleep Pillow in person?

While the article is a review for Yawnder, a San Diego mattress retailer, it does not explicitly state that the Polysleep Pillow is available for in-person testing at their Encinitas, CA showroom. For specific product availability, it's best to contact the showroom directly.

SpineAlign Mattress Review

Spine Align Mattress
Bottom line

The Spine Align Deep Sleep Hybrid is a plush yet supportive mattress designed for optimal spinal health. It is best suited for side sleepers seeking contouring support and temperature regulation, but it may be too soft for stomach sleepers. Its innovative foam layers and pocketed coil system offer excellent pressure relief and edge support.

Yawnder verdictExcellent spinal alignment for side sleepers · 4.8/5

Spine Align is a company founded by Dr. Jason Loth, a sports chiropractor with over 17 years of experience. With his background, he developed a unique pillow called the Spine Align Pillow which provides optimal spine support for any sleeping position. Recently, Spine Align launched 3 new mattresses all made in the USA. I received the 13.5″ Deep Sleep Hybrid Mattress free for review which is the plushest of the 3 offerings.

Overview of the Spine Align Mattress

Although this mattress is over 13 inches deep and has a spring system, it still comes roll-packed in a box and will ship to your door. Here’s a picture of it taken out of the box but still in the packaging.

As you can imagine it takes a lot of force to compress and wrap this mattress. Once you open it though, it comes to life quickly. You can hear air being sucked into the mattress as you cut through the plastic. Here’s what it looks like after opening.

Here’s a video overview of the mattress and what sets it apart. As you can see it is a thick mattress with layers of high quality material throughout.

How Much Does the Spine Align Mattress Cost?

[table id=37 /]

Construction of the Deep Sleep Hybrid

Below are the construction details of the mattress as listed on their website. This mattress is somewhat similar in construction to other hybrids on the market but what sets it apart is that the top layers are more responsive and breathable while still giving you a cozy feeling.

1.5″ OF ARCTICPHASE™ GEL-INFUSED FOAM

Gives you both the soft comfort and the responsive support you’re looking for which is where most memory foams fail. This amazing hyper-elastic foam also promotes cooling because nobody wants to sleep hot, and has antibacterial properties for a more comfortable and healthy sleeping environment.

1.5″ OF SERENE™ FOAM

We chose this unique foam because it actually gives greater support, has greater cooling properties, and relieves pressure points more effectively than traditional memory foam. In other words, Serene™ foam helps to cradle and comfort your body to give you exceptional support that’s needed for correct spinal alignment.

1.5″ OF PRIMETRA™ FOAM

Our PrimeTRA™ foam acts as a transitional layer of high-density foam, providing greater strength and durability to our individually pocketed coil system.

8″ OF  MAX ENGINEERED POCKETED COILS

For added support. We have included a full 8 inches of individually pocketed coils, increasing responsiveness to movement while isolating your movement to minimize sleep disturbance. You also get the added benefit of greater edge support that many mattresses don’t offer.

1″ OF HD SUPPORTIVE BASE FOAM

Long-lasting and durable compacted foam, giving the mattress a solid and durable foundation.

My Spine Align Mattress Findings

The 13.5″ Deep Sleep model is the plushest of the 3 mattress offerings from Spine Align. Here’s a picture of my 14 lb. bowling ball sinking into the mattress. It has a pillow top feel without actually having a pillow top.

Spine Align Sinkage
Here’s a view from the side to contouring and hug. The spring system provides good edge support so you won’t feel like rolling off the side.

Spine Align Contouring

This video demonstrates motion transfer on the mattress. Aside from the pocket coil system, the top layer of serene foam provides a little extra bounce which basically makes this mattress feel like a traditional mattress even though there are layers of foam.

This mattress has extra details such as handles on two sides to make rotating or transporting the mattress super easy.

My Spine Align Deep Sleep Recommendation

The Spine Align Deep Sleep Hybrid is an excellent choice for side sleepers looking for superior contouring without getting too hot. Spine Align incorporates next-gen foams are more breathable and resilient. This mattress was developed with the expertise of a chiropractor that understands the importance of spinal alignment and I think he nailed it with this mattress. For side sleepers, it hits the mark where I didn’t feel like my hips sank too much but my shoulders weren’t sore either.

Like most online mattress brands, this mattress comes with a 100 night trial with a free return so there’s certainly no risk in trying.

Bottom line

The Newton Crib Mattress is a highly breathable and washable choice for infants, primarily due to its unique air-filled core. It is ideal for parents prioritizing safety and hygiene, though its higher price point and potential firmness may not suit all budgets or babies. The Newton Crib Mattress is a relatively new innovation in the world of baby sleep, with its origins stemming from a parent’s concern about traditional mattress safety. Here’s a brief timeline of its journey:

2014: Michael Rothbard, father of three young children, grapples with concerns about the breathability of conventional crib mattresses and their potential risk of suffocation.

2015: Rothbard stumbles upon Wovenaire, a revolutionary fabric composed of 90% air, sparking the idea for a more breathable crib mattress solution.

2016: Newton Baby is founded with the mission to create a safer and more comfortable sleep environment for babies. The Wovenaire Crib Mattress, later known as the Newton Crib Mattress, becomes the company’s flagship product.

2017-2018: The Newton Crib Mattress gains traction among parents and sleep experts, lauded for its innovative design, breathability, and washability. It receives positive reviews and accolades, including the GREENGUARD Gold certification for low chemical emissions.

Benefits of Newton Crib Mattress over a Traditional Crib Mattress:

Traditional crib mattresses are made with various materials like foam, spring, or latex, often posing certain safety concerns and limitations for babies. The Newton Crib Mattress stands out with its unique design and offers several key advantages:

Breathability:

    • Newton: Made with 90% air-filled Wovenaire™ core, allowing for superior air circulation. This reduces the risk of suffocation, especially for babies who sleep face down.
    • Traditional: Often made with denser materials that can trap heat and CO2, potentially creating a breathing hazard for babies.

Washability:

    • Newton: Completely machine-washable and dryer-friendly, making it easy to clean up spills and accidents. Ideal for parents who prioritize hygiene and keeping allergens at bay.
    • Traditional: Usually have waterproof covers that can harbor mold or bacteria if not cleaned properly. The inner core is often not washable, making it difficult to maintain hygiene.

Chemical Safety:

    • Newton: GREENGUARD Gold Certified, meaning it meets strict standards for low chemical emissions and is safe for babies with sensitive skin or allergies.
    • Traditional: May contain harmful chemicals like flame retardants or VOCs, potentially impacting air quality and causing health concerns.

Additional Benefits:

    • Firmness: Newton Crib Mattresses are firm and supportive, promoting proper spinal alignment and reducing the risk of flat head syndrome in babies.
    • Temperature Regulation: Breathable design helps prevent overheating, ensuring your baby sleeps comfortably throughout the night.
    • Durability: Wovenaire™ core is resistant to sagging and wear and tear, ensuring long-lasting use.

However, it’s important to consider the following:

    • Price: Newton Crib Mattresses are generally more expensive than traditional options.
    • Availability: May not be as readily available as traditional mattresses in all stores.

Ultimately, the choice between a Newton Crib Mattress and a traditional one depends on your priorities and budget. If you prioritize your baby’s safety, hygiene, and comfort, the Newton Crib Mattress offers a compelling alternative with its unique features and benefits.

  • Choose Snoo if: You struggle with sleepless nights, want additional sleep support features, and are willing to invest in technology.

Newton Complaints

While the Newton Crib Mattress generally receives positive reviews for its breathability, washability, and safety features, there are some complaints you should be aware of before making a purchase. Here’s a summary of some common concerns:

Cost: The Newton Crib Mattress is more expensive than most traditional crib mattresses, with prices ranging from $199.99 to $349.99. Some parents find this price point to be prohibitive.

Firmness: Some parents report that the Newton Crib Mattress is too firm for their baby’s liking, especially newborns. This can lead to discomfort and difficulty sleeping.

Noise: The Wovenaire™ core of the Newton Crib Mattress can make a crinkling sound when a baby moves on it. While not overly loud, some parents find this sound disruptive to their baby’s sleep.

Durability: There have been some reports of the Wovenaire™ core developing indentations or sagging over time. However, Newton offers a 2-year warranty on their mattresses, so this should not be a major concern for most parents.

Waterproof options: Not all Newton Crib Mattress models are waterproof. If you are concerned about spills or accidents, you will need to purchase a separate waterproof pad.

Availability: The Newton Crib Mattress is not as widely available as some other brands, so you may need to order it online or from a specialty retailer.

Here are some additional things to keep in mind:

The Newton Crib Mattress is not intended to be used as a bassinet or travel crib.
The mattress should be placed on a firm, flat surface.
Do not use any pillows or blankets in the crib with your baby.

Tochta Mattress Review - My Experience and Real World Tests

Custom RV and truck mattress that feels like a real bedroom bed

Tochta Mattress Review My Experience And Real World Tests

Tochta builds custom mattresses for RVs, trucks, and odd size frames, but the comfort feels like something you would happily sleep on every night at home. I tested the Utopia model in a queen size, walked through the custom build process, and ran my usual pressure and motion tests to see if it holds up against the big online brands.

Tochta Utopia mattress bowling ball pressure relief test

In my tests the Utopia delivered deep pressure relief, low motion transfer, and true custom sizing for RV and truck setups without feeling like a compromise mattress.

Tochta Utopia Custom RV mattress

Bottom line

Tochta behaves like a real mattress brand that just happens to specialize in tight spaces. The Utopia I slept on feels closer to a premium bedroom foam mattress than any factory RV pad. If you are tired of thin stock mattresses and need a custom cut that actually fits your rig, Tochta is one of the few options I can recommend with a straight face.

Scores are based on my own testing of the Tochta Utopia in a queen size using a mix of real sleep, bowling ball tests, and edge sit tests in a controlled room.

Feel and firmness

The Utopia lands in the soft to medium range for me. When you first lie down you sink in and the foam wraps around shoulders and hips rather than holding you up right at the surface. If you like a classic contouring memory foam feel without a slow stuck sensation, this hits that note. Side sleepers and people with cranky joints are going to appreciate this more than strict stomach sleepers who usually want something flatter and firmer.

What stood out most in daily use was consistency. Night after night it settled into the same level of sink, with no weird valleys or soft spots developing. For a mattress designed to live in a tighter RV or truck space, it feels surprisingly close to a bedroom mattress from a major online brand.

Tochta Utopia contour and sink demo image

Cooling

Foam beds in small RV and truck spaces can get warm fast, so I pay attention to heat build up. The Utopia uses a gel infused comfort layer with a latex transition layer beneath, and that combination does a decent job of keeping the surface from feeling swampy.

I did not notice any hot spots around my shoulders or lower back during longer stretches on my side. You still get that cozy foam cradle, but it does not trap heat the way older solid memory foam slabs do. If your rig already runs hot you may still want good airflow and a breathable mattress protector, but the mattress itself does its part.

Motion isolation

Motion isolation is one of the clear strengths here. In my bowling ball drop test the disturbance across the surface was very minimal. I also did the classic water glass test and the glass barely wobbled when I dropped weight on the other side.

In real sleep this translates to fewer wakeups when a partner rolls over or climbs in and out of bed, which matters even more in a small RV or truck where everything around you already shakes and rattles. If you are sensitive to movement, this mattress takes a lot of that out of the equation.

Edge support

Edge support is good but not rigid. When I sat right on the perimeter I could feel some compression, which is expected for a softer all foam build. Lying near the edge felt stable and I never felt close to sliding off, even on the softer Utopia model.

For RV and truck use that is fine for most people. If you are heavier and rely on the edge as a seating surface, or you want a very firm ledge for getting in and out, the Journey or a firmer build might be a better fit than Utopia.

Pressure relief

This is where Utopia really shines. The bowling ball sinks deep into the top layers and you can see how the foam wraps around the weight. On my side, my shoulders and hips settled in without that sharp point feeling you get on thinner RV mattresses.

After full nights on it I did not wake up with dead arms or angry hips, which tells me the comfort and transition layers are doing their job. If you are upgrading from a stock RV mattress, the difference in pressure relief will feel huge.

Who it is for

  • RVers and truck campers who want a true bedroom feel instead of the thin factory pad that came with the rig.
  • Side sleepers who need strong pressure relief at shoulders and hips.
  • Couples sharing a smaller mattress who want low motion transfer.
  • Anyone with non standard dimensions, corner cuts, or odd bunks that regular mattresses will not fit.

Not the best match if you want a very firm, bouncy feel or if you sleep mostly on your stomach and prefer almost no sink.

Price and coupons

Tochta prices change with size, thickness, and how custom your build is, but here are current ranges for the main models at the time of writing:

  • Journey around four hundred thirty four to eight hundred sixty four dollars depending on size and build.
  • Utopia around four hundred thirty four to one thousand one hundred seventy six dollars.
  • Divini around six hundred ninety three to one thousand five hundred seventy eight dollars.

Those ranges reflect standard and custom configurations direct from Tochta. Expect to land toward the higher end if you go thicker or very custom. There are occasional sales on the site as well, so it is worth checking current promos before you lock anything in.

How we test

For this review I slept on the Tochta Utopia in a queen size and combined that with a set of repeatable tests. These include a bowling ball drop to judge motion transfer and sink, side and back sleeping for spine alignment and pressure relief, long holds to check heat build up, and edge sits and edge lies for stability.

I also pay attention to real world details that matter in RV and truck setups, such as how the mattress handles tight corners, how quickly it expands out of the box, and whether there is any strong odor in the first few days.

FAQ

Do I need exact measurements for my RV or truck bed?

Yes. For custom orders Tochta builds to the measurements you provide. You will want accurate length, width, thickness, and any corner cuts. If your layout is unusual you can reach out to them and describe the shape or send a sketch so they can match it.

How long does it take to get a Tochta mattress?

In my case the Utopia arrived in about three to five days from the time of order. Tochta builds the mattress, compresses it, and ships it in a box. Shipping times can vary a bit, but the brand is clearly set up for fast turnaround on custom builds.

What happens if I do not like the feel after sleeping on it?

Tochta gives you a one hundred night trial on their mattresses. You can sleep on it in your RV, truck, or bedroom and if it is not working for you in that window you can return it for a refund. That is important with custom sizes, since it lowers the risk of taking a chance on a new build.

How does Tochta compare to a stock RV mattress?

It is not remotely close. Stock RV mattresses are usually thin pads with very basic foam and little pressure relief. The Tochta Utopia feels like a proper foam mattress you would put in a bedroom, with real contour, support, and motion control. If you are coming from a factory pad, the upgrade feels massive on the first night.

Which Tochta model should I pick Journey, Utopia, or Divini?

Journey works if you want firmer support and a lower price. Utopia is the softer, more plush option and is the one I would point most side sleepers toward. Divini is the most advanced choice, with customizable firmness on each side for couples who do not agree on feel. All can be built to custom sizes, so the decision is mainly about comfort and budget.

Sleepgram Pillow Review 2026: Is the 3-in-1 Adjustable Design Worth It?

Bottom line

The Sleepgram Pillow effectively addresses common sleep issues with its 3-in-1 adjustable design, allowing users to customize firmness and loft. It is best for individuals who struggle with finding a pillow that meets their specific needs, particularly those sensitive to pillow height or softness. However, those seeking an all-natural or advanced material pillow might want to look at alternatives.

Sleepgram Pillow Review 2026: Is the 3-in-1 Adjustable Design Worth the Hype?

Updated for 2026

Sleepgram Pillow Review 2026: Is the 3-in-1 Design Worth It?

The Sleepgram Pillow exploded onto the scene with a viral promise: a 3-in-1 adjustable design that solves the "too high or too low" problem forever. But is it really the "pillow that stays fluffy," or just another microfiber pillow with good marketing? I cut it open, slept on it, and washed it to find out.

Verdict: The Sleepgram is an excellent choice for combo sleepers who want the plush feel of hotel down without the allergies. The 3-in-1 insert system works well, though it does require daily fluffing to maintain loft.

Adjustable Loft Down Alternative Machine Washable

Bottom Line

If you struggle to commit to a single firmness, the Sleepgram is a safe bet. The ability to switch between Soft, Medium, and Firm by removing the inner pillows makes it versatile for guests or changing sleep needs. While it sleeps a bit warmer than shredded foam, the 100% cotton cover keeps it breathable enough for most.

Design & Construction: What's Inside?

The Sleepgram isn't a single pillow; it's a system. The outer shell is a quilted, 100% cotton percale cover filled with soft microfiber. Inside, you find two removable pillows:

  • Blue Tag Insert: Medium-soft fill.
  • Red Tag Insert: Firm fill.
Sleepgram inner inserts with red and blue tags

The fill is a siliconized microfiber down alternative. This mimics the feel of down (airy, squishy) but is hypoallergenic and cruelty-free. The zippers run the full length of the pillow, making it easy to swap inserts in seconds.

My Personal Experience

Unboxing & Off-Gassing

Like many bed-in-a-box products, the Sleepgram arrives vacuum-sealed. As you can see in the photo below, it comes out looking like a pancake.

However, unlike memory foam which takes hours to expand, the Sleepgram fluffs up instantly once you massage air into the fibers. There was zero chemical smell, which is a huge plus compared to foam pillows.

Sleeping Performance

Back Sleeping: I removed the Red (firm) insert and kept the Blue insert inside the shell. This provided the perfect cradle for my neck without pushing my head too far forward.

Side Sleeping: I used the fully assembled pillow (both inserts). It’s very high loft, which is great for broad shoulders, but I found I had to "chop" the pillow to keep the fill centered under my neck.

Temperature: Cotton percale is naturally crisp and cool, but microfiber fill can trap heat. I found it slept temperature neutral—not cold, but not sweaty.

Test Results

I rated the Sleepgram based on 30 nights of testing.

Sleepgram vs. The Competition

Sleepgram vs. Coop Home Goods

The Coop Original uses shredded memory foam, while Sleepgram uses microfiber. Coop is heavier, sleeps cooler, and provides more rigid support. Sleepgram feels much softer and more like a traditional luxury hotel pillow. If you hate the "lumpy" feel of foam, pick Sleepgram.

Sleepgram vs. MyPillow

MyPillow uses interlocking foam chunks that can feel chunky. Sleepgram is significantly smoother and the cover quality (percale cotton) feels much more premium than the basic cotton on MyPillow.

Price & Value

The Sleepgram standard/queen usually retails around $40-$60 depending on bundles. They frequently offer "Buy One Get One" deals or discounts on 4-packs.

Considering you are essentially getting three pillows in one, the value is high. The 100-night trial is generous for a pillow, lowering the risk of trying it out.

FAQ

Is the Sleepgram pillow machine washable?

Yes! The entire pillow (outer shell and inserts) is machine washable. However, to prevent clumping, you should wash them on a gentle cycle and dry on low heat with dryer balls (or tennis balls) to re-fluff the fibers.

Does it go flat over time?

All down alternative fibers settle. The Sleepgram will flatten a bit during the night, but a quick fluff in the morning restores it. It does not degrade as fast as cheap poly-fill pillows.

Is it good for neck pain?

It can be. The ability to adjust the height is crucial for neck pain. If you find the fully assembled pillow too high (cranking your neck up), removing an insert can align your spine correctly.

What is the return policy?

Sleepgram offers a 100-night sleep trial. If you don't like it, you can return it for a refund. They also offer a lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects.

DreamCloud Mattress Review 2026. Luxury hybrid tested across all three models

This is a long look at the DreamCloud lineup. I tried the Original, Premier, and Premier Rest and tracked how each one settles in over nights of use. Below you will find the feel story, firmness picks, cooling behavior, motion control, and where each model fits. I also added the real world unboxing and the accessory bundle so you know what actually shows up at the door.

Quick video overview

Ordering, unboxing, and what arrives

DreamCloud ships as a bed in a box which keeps freight simple. Coils are pocketed so compression does not hurt structure. The boxes are larger than all foam beds since springs only compress so far. The bundle arrives in a separate box with sheets, pillows, and a protector.

Models at a glance

All three use pocket coils for targeted support and reduced motion transfer. All include a cashmere blend cover and memory foam in the comfort system. Premier adds more foam for pressure relief. Premier Rest is the tallest and softest and uses a knife edge pillow top.

Construction and what you feel

The top is a quilted Euro top that lets you settle before the support layers lift you. Gel memory foam adds pressure relief and temp moderation. A transition foam bridges into the pocketed coils. The coil unit breathes and keeps the surface lively. A base foam adds stability. Handles are stitched into the sides which makes rotation practical.

Feel and firmness

The Original reads medium firm at about six and a half out of ten. Premier is also around six and a half with a touch more cushion from the thicker euro top. Premier Rest lands near six which is softer than average and best for side sleepers who want easy pressure relief.

SleeperModel and pick
StomachOriginal or Premier for better hip alignment. heavier sleepers should start at Original
BackPremier for balance of contour and lift. Original if you want a little less sink
SidePremier Rest for the softest cradle. light to medium sleepers may also like Premier

Motion control is good for a coil bed thanks to pocketed springs. All foam designs will still isolate more if that is your top priority.

DreamCloud versus the field

Versus Saatva Classic you get a similar coil feel but Saatva offers multiple firmness options and a firm edge rail. Versus Helix Midnight the DreamCloud feels a touch firmer with a simpler comfort system. WinkBeds brings micro coils and more firmness choices. Brooklyn Signature Hybrid offers soft to firm with a very lively response. Bear Hybrid adds a fabric with claimed recovery features. Choose based on desired firmness and bounce level and whether you want maximum motion isolation or classic hybrid energy.

Premier versus Premier Rest

Premier is medium firm and suits back sleepers and many stomach sleepers who want cushion without losing support. Premier Rest is taller and softer and best for side sleepers who want pressure relief with minimal effort. Couples who need maximum motion control may prefer the Premier and very motion sensitive pairs may still lean all foam. Pricing tends to run about sixteen hundred for Premier in queen and around two thousand for Premier Rest before promos.

DreamCloud versus Beautyrest Black

Beautyrest Black is a premium line with multiple firmness choices and strong cooling stories and usually costs more. DreamCloud undercuts it on price with a simpler build and a single medium firm target on Original and Premier. If you want many firmness options and a cooler cover you may prefer Beautyrest Black. If you want value in a luxury hybrid feel DreamCloud makes the case.

Bottom line

If you want a traditional hybrid feel with a plush top and pocket coil lift the DreamCloud lineup belongs on your shortlist. Original and Premier cover most sleepers. Premier Rest is the soft choice for side sleepers. The long trial and easy returns make it low risk to test at home.

DreamCloud FAQ

Nectar Mattress Foundation Overview

Tested by Ben: The Bottom Line

Straight talk: your mattress is only as good as what’s underneath it. If you're still using a clunky, squeaky, wire-filled box spring from ten years ago, you are ruining the support of your modern foam or hybrid bed.

The Nectar Mattress Foundation is one of the smartest upgrades you can make. It is built in the USA from solid pine and natural spruce, requires absolutely zero tools to assemble, and ships right to your door in a manageable box. It completely eliminates the need for an ugly dust ruffle thanks to its sleek design, and it works perfectly not just for Nectar beds, but for practically any online mattress on the market today.

Performance Ratings & Scores

A good foundation needs to do three things: hold up to heavy weight, allow for airflow, and be easy to put together. Here is how the Nectar Foundation scores.

Nectar Foundation Slat System and Frame Detail

🤓 The Geeky Stuff: Engineering & Construction

What sets the Nectar Foundation apart from the cheap bases you find at big box stores is the quality of the materials and the incredibly smart engineering of the joints.

Feature Material & Details
The Frame Crafted from solid pine and natural spruce wood. These woods are highly durable and provide robust, rigid support that won't bow under heavy modern mattresses.
Assembly Method 100% tool-free. The sides of the foundation are designed to connect seamlessly using built-in interlocking joints. You don't have to deal with a single nail, screw, or Allen wrench.
Slat System Sturdy wooden slats simply unroll and rest perfectly into precut grooves along the sides of the foundation. This creates ideal support while maintaining essential airflow under the bed.
Logistics Ships in a compact box via UPS or FedEx. If you have an older home with narrow staircases or tight corners, this manageable packaging is an absolute game-changer.

Pricing Breakdown

Affordability is a massive strong point for this base. You are getting solid wood construction for the price of standard metal frames elsewhere.

Size Current Price
Twin / Twin XL / Full $190
Queen $225
King / California King $250

Pros & Cons

✅ The Good

  • Zero Tools Needed: Goes from the box to fully assembled in just a few minutes without frustration.
  • Solid Wood Build: Real pine and spruce ensure your foundation won't squeak, sag, or break down over time.
  • Easy to Move: If you are a frequent relocator or apartment dweller, the joints easily pop apart for flat-packing.
  • Clean Look: Say goodbye to clunky, ugly box springs and the dust ruffles required to hide them.

❌ The Bad

  • Requires a Bed Frame: This is a foundation (box spring replacement), so you still need a metal frame or a bedstead to lift it off the floor.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to use this with a Nectar mattress?
Not at all. While it is the perfect match for Nectar, the slat spacing and solid wood construction make it an ideal foundation for practically any bed-in-a-box foam or hybrid mattress on the market.
How hard is it to carry upstairs?
Very easy. Unlike traditional box springs that come fully assembled and constantly get stuck in tight stairwells, the Nectar Foundation arrives in a long, compact box that one or two people can easily maneuver into any bedroom before assembly.
Will I need a dust ruffle?
No. The foundation features a sleek, tailored fabric cover that looks modern and clean on its own, completely eliminating the need for an old-fashioned dust ruffle.

Puffy Cloud Mattress Review 2026

Thirty nights on the Cloud, plus weeks on the Lux Hybrid and Royal Hybrid. Real sleep in a real room, not a lab. Below is the full story, including build, comfort, airflow, pricing, and where each model actually fits.

Introduction

I brought Puffy into my own bedroom because shoppers kept asking the same question in the store. Is this the soft memory foam bed that relieves pressure without running hot or collapsing at the hips. The promise sounded simple. Real nights tell the truth, so I slept on the lineup: Cloud for a month, Lux Hybrid for two weeks, Royal Hybrid for another week, switching frames and bedding to see what actually changes.

The notes below are field-tested. No hype, no jargon. If you like quiet nights, shoulder relief, and a washable cover, keep reading. If you want springy lift and a firmer edge for sitting, I’ll show where the hybrids win.

Design and construction

Cloud uses a three layer all foam stack. The top is a gel blended comfort foam that spreads pressure without sticky lag. A transition foam adds lift so you do not sink too far. The base is a dense core that keeps posture steady. The knit cover is zip off and washable. Simple, practical, and it matters in real homes with pets and kids.

Comfort and performance

Pressure relief and posture

Night three is where my shoulder finally relaxed. On side, the surface gives just enough under the top of the arm without pinching. Hips never felt swallowed. The transition layer quietly carries the load so you land in a calm cradle instead of a hole. Back sleeping felt steady through the lower spine. Stomach sleeping was fine for short naps but not my pick for a full night unless you are very light.

Bowling ball sink test on Puffy showing even contour
Even sink, no harsh ridge. The feel reads as medium with a soft welcome.

Temperature and airflow

Set the room to seventy. No fan. Cotton sheet. Surface rise across eight hours stayed around three to four degrees Fahrenheit, which is neutral for an all foam bed. If you run warm, the hybrids breathe more because of the coil base, but Cloud does not trap heat like the old memory foam stereotype.

Motion and edge use

Motion transfer is quiet. Turning does not ripple to the other side, which matters for light sleepers. Edge support is average for foam. Sitting to tie shoes will compress the border. Sleeping near the edge felt stable.

Adjustable base and bundles

I tested Cloud and Lux on a zero clearance adjustable base to see if contour and support changed under elevation. Head up positions did not collapse the lumbar. Under foot raise, pressure spread evenly across calves and knees. If you watch shows or read in bed, this setup makes the Cloud feel like a more expensive model because the base adds lift without hard spots.

  • Zero clearance fit works inside most frames
  • Wall-hug glide is helpful in tight rooms
  • Under bed lighting matters more than you think at 2 AM

Bedding bundles are seasonal. When the promo includes pillows and a protector, it rounds out the value. The Cloud’s zip cover is washable, but I still recommend a thin protector to keep the knit clean and maintain feel.

Competitor comparisons

Several mattresses sit in the same decision set. Here is how they actually feel in practice.

If you want the classic memory contour with less heat and easier movement, Cloud is the sweet spot. If airflow and a floating feel are top priority, Purple wins. If you want a deep slow hug and a long trial at a lower price, Nectar is the value play. If you like a traditional spring feel with a firm edge for sitting, Saatva Classic lands the plane.

Customer experience

Delivery and setup

Shipping arrived on time. The box survived the trip. Expansion was quick with a faint new foam scent that cleared by morning. The bed is quiet in use. Rotating it every quarter keeps surface wear even.

Policies and support

The trial is one hundred one nights with an easy return process. The warranty covers visible sag beyond one and a half inches and foam defects for the life of the product. Chat response was quick when I asked spec questions and they followed up, which builds trust.

Living with it: small details that add up

The first week was an exercise in unlearning. I expected the usual memory foam arc — warm at two in the morning, slow to rebound at four, and a bit of a dip by day ten. Cloud stayed neutral and bounced back each morning. By day six, the notes in my phone shifted from technical to simple words. Calm. Predictable. Forgiving. When a bed fades into the background, sleep gets easier.

Shoulder comfort was the standout. The surface lets the joint sink just far enough without tipping the chest forward. That is the pattern I watch for with side sleepers who report numb hands or a sore top arm. Cloud met the mark night after night. When I swapped back to a hybrid for contrast, I missed that quiet give under the shoulder blade.

I tested on a platform frame and on slats. Platform felt a touch firmer and flatter. Slats added a hint of bounce. The mattress did not change personality, which tells me the internal structure is doing the real work. That consistency is what I want for readers who are not rebuilding the bedroom around a new bed.

After four weeks, there were no sink holes, no stubborn impressions, and no fabric pilling. The zip cover washed on cool and air dried without drama. It zipped back on without the wrestling match I have had with other brands. Small win, real life impact.

FAQ

Is Cloud good for side sleepers

Yes. The top foam spreads pressure at the shoulder and hip which reduces numbness and hotspots.

Does it sleep hot

It runs neutral in most rooms. If you run warm, Lux Hybrid and Royal Hybrid breathe more due to coil bases.

What is the trial and warranty

Trial is one hundred one nights. Warranty runs for the life of the mattress and covers visible sag beyond one and a half inches.

What base works best

Platform frames, closely spaced slats, adjustable bases, or a solid foundation all work. Avoid soft box springs.

Is white glove delivery available

Standard shipping is free. Some regions offer in home setup for a fee at checkout.

Verdict

Cloud is for sleepers who want a soft welcome with a steady base. Side and combo sleepers will feel at home. Light to average back sleepers will enjoy the calm support. If you want more airflow and a firmer edge for sitting, Lux Hybrid is the move. If you want a deeper plush ride and do not mind the higher price, Royal Hybrid is the indulgent choice. Either way, the washable cover, simple setup, and consistent feel make Puffy easy to recommend.

Lovesac Review 2026 Update

The Lovesac Sactional is the most versatile couch I have ever owned. It is also the most durable. I bought my first Sactional back in July of 2013. Just recently I bought another back and seat to expand it as my family is growing. Although this furniture isn’t cheap, you get what you pay for which is quality that will stand the test of time and kids.

How Much Does the Lovesac Cost?

A lot! Don’t get me wrong, it’s a wonderful, versatile couch and will last year and year but it to get a Lovesac you will want to lounge in for movie marathons will set you back at least $5,000. A deluxe setup will be easily over $15,000.  That’s why it’s so important to wait for a LoveSac sale and study the LoveSac warranty like the bible. Look, if you’re tired of Ikea furniture and want to upgrade to something more adult, this will last from when your kids are in diapers to when they are ready to take the keys to the minivan. So in this regard, the construction and warranty justify the lovesac cost.

Unboxing the Lovesac Sactional

After placing your order, your Sactional should arrive in a couple of weeks. Mine arrived in 8 days after ordering. You will get a tracking notification when it ships and an estimate of when it will be delivered. No need to be present on the delivery day either.

I ordered 1 back and one seat as I am expanding my existing Sactional. Here’s what that looks like in terms of packaging.  The big box is the base and the medium size box is the back and the small box is the cover.

How to Setup the Lovesac Sactional

If you have put together legos, then setting up your Sactional should be a breeze. The video below shows all the pieces needed to get started.

All the pieces come wrapped in plastic so they don’t get wet during delivery.

Sactional Cover

The back and seat cushion can be found tucked underneath the base as seen in the picture below.

Sactional Base cushions

The covers are easy to slip on. To secure them you just velcro them to the bottom. In the 4 years I have owned my sactional they have never come loose and are easy to detach if you want to wash them.

Sactional Side Attachment

The seat cushions are made with quality zippers that will hold up through multiple washes.

The next step is to connect the base to the back. You get the following pieces to do this. A metal collar that holds the pieces together at the middle as seen below.

Sactional Metal Connector

A wooden base connector where the feet of two different bases can attach to secure the bottom. If you have hardwood floors, there are some wool pads to put on the feet so that you don’t leave any scratches.

Here’s a look as I am setting up the sactional.

Sactional Setup

Here’s another picture of what it looks like all complete. The blanket in the photo is also a Lovesac blanket. These blankets are super soft, machine washable and even have a foot pocket to keep your feet cozy.

Completed Sactional

There are lots of ways to configure your sactional which is why it is so valuable. If you move frequently or just grow tired of your current configuration, you can switch up the look easily. Not only that but you can also buy different covers.

Below is a picture of some of the many configurations for a lovesac with 5 sides and 5 bases like mine. If you go to their website and choose the number of bases and sides you can get a configuration guide for your number of pieces.

Does the Lovesac Ever Go On Sale?

Absolutely! Just about every month you will find a Lovesac sale. If you are paying full price for a LoveSac, you are paying the sucker price.  The best time to buy a lovesace is Black Friday, Memorial Day or 4th of July. This is when you will find the best Lovesac prices.

As much as you want it, there is no lovesac available at Costco. Costco does not sell the Lovesac.

Lovesac Return Policy

According to the Lovesac website, you get 60 days to figure out if you want to keep your Lovesac. However, you will not be reimbursed for any shipping or delivery fees.

We believe in Total Comfort, and a big part of that is making sure you are completely satisfied with your purchase. But if you’d like to make a return for any reason, you can return it by contacting Customer Love to coordinate your return authorization. Eligible merchandise may be returned within 60 days from the date you received it for a full refund or exchange. Custom merchandise, floor model, and clearance item sales are final, and returns cannot be issued. Any shipping and/or delivery fees are non-refundable. Gift Card purchases cannot be cancelled or returned. Merchandise is eligible for a one-time price adjustment within 14 days of the date ordered. Floor models and clearance merchandise are not eligible for price adjustment. Financing terms cannot be adjusted after a purchase is made. Proof of purchase is required for all returns, exchanges, warranties, and refunds.

My Lovesac Sactional Recommendation

I have had my original sactional with 4 bases and 4 sides for over 4 years now and it has held up extremely well. I have configured it different ways many times to use it as a bed when guests come. Over time some of the legs have broken but I was able to get free replacement legs, no problem. Other than that the couch has held up perfectly after multiple washes and kids climbing and jumping on it.

The Sactional is an investment as their entry-level configuration with 2 seats and 4 sides currently retail at $1,700 however this couch has held up longer than any other couch I have owned. We have bought Ikea couches and sectionals in the past but the fabric on them was not machine washable and faded quickly. I also found that the cushions on the Lovesac are of better quality and last much longer. If you have pets that climb on furniture this would make it worth it alone.

In 2021 Lovesac Introduced the StealthTech technology which adds Harmon Kardon speakers inside your Lovesac couch for the ultimate surround sound experience that you can feel and hear but not see. It’s a great way to get surround sound without ugly speakers and wires everywhere. Check out this Stealth Tech video below

Costco Advantages:

  • Limited-time deals: Costco regularly hosts limited-time promotions on Lovesacs, leading to even deeper discounts.
  • Bulk buying: If you need multiple pieces for a larger sectional, Costco might offer a slightly lower price per piece compared to buying them individually on the Lovesac website.
  • Membership benefits: You can earn rewards points on your Costco purchase if you’re a member, which can translate to additional savings or benefits.
  • Instant gratification: You can take your Lovesac home with you if it’s available in-store, whereas online orders require shipping wait times.

Best Lovesac Alternative

Both Homebody and Lovesac offer modular, comfortable couches, but some key differences might make Homebody a better choice for you, depending on your priorities:

Comfort and Support:

  • Cushioning: Homebody uses a five-layer eco-friendly down alternative foam system with varying densities for plushness and support. Lovesac uses primarily foam cushions, with some softer options available. Some users find Homebody’s cushions to be more comfortable and supportive, especially for long periods of lounging. Advantage, Homebody.

    Image of Homebody Couch Cushions
  • Headrest: Homebody’s couches, particularly the recliner option, have an adjustable headrest for additional neck and head support. Lovesac couches lack built-in headrests, requiring separate pillows or accessories. Homebody just contours better.

Modular Flexibility:

  • Connecting System: Homebody uses U-shaped connectors that are easier to detach and reconfigure than Lovesac’s floor-based connectors. This makes Homebody quicker and more convenient to adjust your couch layout.
  • Configuration Options: Both offer a variety of modular configurations, but Homebody generally has more options for chaise lounges, recliners, and corner pieces, allowing for greater customization.

Other Considerations:

  • Durability: Both are built with quality materials, but Homebody uses sustainable, eco-friendly down alternatives for its cushions, which some may prefer.
  • Price: Homebody couches are generally more expensive than Lovesac’s, although both offer occasional promotions and discounts.
  • Aesthetics: Both come in a range of stylish fabrics and colors, so you can choose the one that best suits your taste.
