Helix Dusk Elite Review: The Balanced Elite
The Dusk Elite is the medium-feel model in Helix’s top tier: a pillow-top luxury hybrid with dual microcoil arrays, a zoned pocketed-coil core and the GlacioTex™ Elite cooling cover fitted as standard. It is the Elite we recommend most often to combination sleepers, and it is on the floor in Encinitas so you can feel it before you spend $2,799.

What you get for the Elite upgrade
The Dusk family runs three deep. The Dusk, Dusk Luxe and Dusk Elite all aim at the same balanced medium-firm target; what changes is how many layers sit between you and the coils. The base Dusk is a 12-inch build with Helix Dynamic and Responsive Foam. The Dusk Luxe adds a quilted pillow top, a memory-foam transition layer and a zoned coil unit at 14 inches. The Dusk Elite stacks high-density foams plus two microcoil arrays over the zoned pocketed-coil core, finishes at roughly 15 inches, and ships with the GlacioTex Elite cooling cover instead of offering it as an add-on.
That microcoil layer is the part you actually feel. It behaves like a second, finer suspension system: it contours closer to the body than foam alone while still pushing back, which is why the Elite reads as both softer at the surface and more supportive underneath than the Luxe.
How it feels
Lie down on your back and the pillow top gives about an inch before the microcoils take over; your hips settle slightly, your lumbar curve stays filled. Roll onto your side and the shoulder sinks enough to keep the spine straight without the drop-in feeling of a plush foam bed. Roll again and you are not fighting the mattress — the surface recovers quickly, with none of the memory-foam lag. That combination is why combination sleepers do well here and why it is a safer pick than the firmer Dawn Elite if you are buying for two people who sleep differently.
Cooling is the other headline. The GlacioTex Elite cover is cool to the touch immediately, and the double microcoil layer keeps air moving where a thick foam stack would trap it. On our showroom floor it is one of the few pillow-top beds that never feels warm after ten minutes of lying on it.

Who should buy it
Buy it if you change positions through the night, you sleep hot on pillow-top beds, you share the bed with a partner whose preferred firmness differs from yours, or you want the Elite coil unit without a firm surface. Skip it if your budget matters more than the last 10% of performance — the Dusk Luxe is the value answer — or if you sleep strictly on your stomach and need a flat, firm surface.
Dusk Elite vs the other Elites
Midnight Elite: our highest-scoring Helix, a touch softer and more pressure-relieving; the better side-sleeper pick. Twilight Elite: firmer, with a memory-foam layer for slower contouring. Cost over five years
At the $2,799 queen price we sell it for, the Dusk Elite works out to about $1.53 per night over five years; at full $3,999 MSRP it is roughly $2.19 per night. The 15-year warranty and the coil-over-coil construction both point to a bed that lasts well past five years, so the practical per-night figure is usually lower.
