Duvet inserts compared, with product photos
The right model depends on the version you buy. “All-season” is a brand label, and a lightweight insert from one brand can feel warmer than an all-season insert from another. The chart focuses on materials, warmth choices and practical tradeoffs.
| Insert & review | Fill & feel | Warmth choices | Care & tradeoffs |
|---|---|---|---|
Brooklinen Down ComforterRead review | Down / down-fiber blend; lofty feel | Lightweight, All-Season, Heavyweight; 600 / 700 / 750 fill power respectively | Commercial washer and dryer recommended. Choose the weight before comparing fill power. Manufacturer details |
Parachute Down Duvet InsertRead review | European white down; cotton sateen shell | 750 fill power; Lightweight, Midweight or Heavyweight | Machine wash cold or dry clean per instructions. More fill means more warmth, even at the same fill power. Manufacturer details |
Buffy BreezeRead review | TENCEL lyocell shell and fill; lower loft | Lightweight; designed for warm sleepers | Spot clean or dry clean. Current Breeze fill is lyocell; the Cloud uses recycled PET fill. Manufacturer details |
Avocado Alpaca Duvet InsertRead review | Alpaca fiber; organic cotton percale shell | Lightweight or All Season; flatter drape than lofty down | Spot clean only. Do not machine wash or dry clean. Wool-like fiber does not guarantee a cool night’s sleep. Manufacturer details |
Nest Silk Cloud ComforterRead review | Mulberry silk; organic cotton sateen shell | 200 GSM silk fill; streamlined profile | Spot clean or dry clean only. Check size availability; the product page showed sold out when checked. Manufacturer details |
Amerisleep Recover+Read review | 42% lyocell / 58% polyester fill; cotton/polyester shell | Medium profile; less puffy than down | Machine wash cold; tumble dry low. Our review also compares the wool-filled MerinoCloud. Manufacturer details |
Current version note: Buffy’s current Breeze has lyocell in both the shell and fill. Older review copy may describe a different blend. Our Amerisleep review separates our Recover+ experience from the MerinoCloud specifications. Nest’s selected Silk Cloud option showed sold out during this check.

Get the size and care right before ordering
Full/Queen does not mean one standard dimension
Compare the numbers on the insert and cover, including width and length. A nominal Queen label alone does not guarantee a fit. An oversized insert can bunch inside a smaller cover; a substantially smaller insert can leave empty edges.
| Insert | Listed dimensions |
|---|---|
| Brooklinen Down Comforter | 92 × 96 in. |
| Parachute Down Duvet Insert | 90 × 94 in. |
| Buffy Breeze | 90 × 90 in. |
| Avocado Alpaca Duvet Insert | 96 × 92 in. |
| Nest Silk Cloud Comforter | 86 × 90 in. |
| Amerisleep Recover+ | 90 × 94 in. |
Measure your existing cover first, then decide how much overhang you want beyond the mattress. For more help, see the duvet size guide and our duvet vs comforter explanation.
Cleaning requirements can rule out a model
Follow the current product label. Buffy recommends spot cleaning or dry cleaning for Breeze. Nest specifies the same for Silk Cloud. Avocado’s alpaca insert is spot-clean only and specifically excludes machine washing and dry cleaning. Amerisleep currently permits a cold machine wash and low-heat tumble dry for Recover+.
Use a washable cover to reduce the need to clean the insert. For washable down, check machine capacity and allow enough drying time to get the filling fully dry. Our down comforter washing guide explains what to consider, but the manufacturer’s instructions for your model take priority.
Check corner or side loops and the ties inside your cover. Use the available attachment points to limit shifting. Cover weave and weight also change how warm the finished bedding feels.
