Bedgear M3 Mattress Review

Bedgear M3
Bottom line

The Bedgear M3 is a modular mattress that allows for individual customization of firmness levels on each side. It is best for couples with differing preferences and those seeking long-term adaptability, but its premium price may be a deterrent for budget-conscious buyers. The innovative swappable coil units offer a unique solution to mattress longevity and personalized comfort.

Bedgear M3 Mattress Review

In a crowded market of "me too" memory foam blocks, the Bedgear M3 is actually doing something different. At my showroom in Encinitas, I see a lot of couples who can't agree on a firmness level. The M3 solves this with a modular design that lets you swap out the coil units inside the mattress. It’s an innovative approach that aims to redefine how we think about the lifespan and customization of a bed.

Design and Construction

The M3 reveals its modular nature immediately. It’s not a sealed black box; it’s a system. You have a core chassis, independent suspension units (coils) that you can change, and a comfort layer on top. If your body changes or you get injured, you don't buy a new mattress—you just swap the coils.

Customization is Key

Whether you're a side sleeper needing pressure relief or a back sleeper needing rigid support, the M3 adapts. The "split" design is the real winner here—one side can be soft (0.0 or 1.0) and the other firm (2.0 or 3.0). It evolves with you.

Cooling Technology

I track my sleep data closely, and heat is the enemy of deep sleep. Bedgear uses their patented Ver-Tex fabric here. It’s cool to the touch and designed to dissipate heat rather than trapping it like traditional foam.

Bedgear Models & Pricing

The M3 is a premium product, and the price reflects that engineering. Here is where the lineup stands:

Model Starting Price Best For
M3 Performance $2,099 Maximum customization & cooling
S7 Performance $949 Mid-range cooling & support
S3 Performance $549 Entry-level performance

The Investment: $2k+ is a lot, but considering you can replace components rather than the whole bed later, the long-term cost of ownership might actually be lower.

Bedgear vs. Tempur-Pedic

Tempur-Pedic

The Feel: The classic "slow melt." You sink in, and the foam contours heavily. It’s great for pressure relief but can sleep hot and feel restrictive to some.

The Tech: Proprietary TEMPUR material developed from NASA tech. One feel, usually consistent across the bed.

Bedgear

The Feel: Responsive and active. You sleep on it, not in it. The springs give bounce, and the airflow is significantly better.

The Tech: Modular coil units and Ver-Tex cooling fabric. Totally customizable per side.

Verdict: If you want the classic memory foam hug, go Tempur. If you want a cooler sleep and the ability to change firmness later, Bedgear wins.

Real Talk: Common Complaints

I don't sugarcoat things. Here is what people gripe about with the M3:

  • Price: It is significantly more expensive than your average bed-in-a-box.
  • Firmness: Some users find even the softer coils a bit too firm compared to a plush pillow top.
  • Assembly: Because it's modular, you have to put some of it together. It's not difficult, but it's not a "cut and expand" instant setup.

The Yawnder Verdict

The Bedgear M3 is a formidable contender for anyone who treats sleep as a performance activity rather than just a passive necessity. It’s the choice for athletes (like the Broncos and Red Sox players) and bio-hackers who want to dial in their recovery.

Frequently Asked Questions About Bedgear M3 Mattress Review

Is the Bedgear M3 mattress worth the price?

The Bedgear M3 mattress is a premium product with a starting price of $2,099, but its modular design may lead to lower long-term ownership costs. This is because you can replace individual components like coils rather than purchasing an entirely new mattress. This unique feature adds to its overall value proposition.

Who is the Bedgear M3 mattress best for?

The Bedgear M3 mattress is best for couples who have different firmness preferences, as it allows for a split design with varying coil units. It also suits individuals whose body needs may change over time, offering adaptability to different sleeping positions or injuries. Its customization options make it versatile.

How does the Bedgear M3 compare to Tempur-Pedic mattresses?

The Bedgear M3 offers a modular design with swappable coil units, unlike the typical sealed memory foam blocks of Tempur-Pedic mattresses. The M3 focuses on customization and cooling technology using Ver-Tex fabric, while Tempur-Pedic is known for its classic slow-response memory foam feel. This makes the M3 a more adaptive option.

What are the downsides of the Bedgear M3 mattress?

The primary downside of the Bedgear M3 mattress is its high upfront cost, starting at $2,099, which may be a significant investment for some buyers. While its modularity aims for long-term savings, the initial price point is notably higher than many other mattresses on the market. This financial commitment should be considered.

Is the Bedgear M3 good for hot sleepers?

Yes, the Bedgear M3 mattress is good for hot sleepers thanks to its cooling technology, specifically the patented Ver-Tex fabric. This material is designed to feel cool to the touch and effectively dissipate heat, preventing the mattress from trapping warmth like traditional foam. Based on tracking sleep data, heat is often the enemy of deep sleep.

Where can I try the Bedgear M3 mattress in person?

You can try the Bedgear M3 mattress in person at Yawnder's showroom located in Encinitas, California. This provides an opportunity to experience its modular design and discuss customization options with store staff. Visiting the showroom allows you to directly assess its unique features.

It will eliminate over 99% of particles under 0.1 microns. This machine has a 5 stage filtration system that can not only get rid of dust but also smoke and VOCs. I have gone reviewed other air purifiers on Yawnder but so far this one is the most effective for big rooms and the best value.

Ordering the Hathaspace Smart True Hepa Air Purifier

There are two ways to buy this air purifier. You can order direct through Hathaspace which I recommend or through Amazon. Either way, shipping is fast. Mine arrived in under a week from Hathaspace. It was also packaged very well.

hathaspace box

How Much Does it Cost?

This retails for $399 but if you order through Hathaspace, you have the option of joining their filter club plan which will send you a new filter automatically every 4 months at a 10% discount. Opting into the filter club also reduces the price of the air purifier, so then the price becomes $369. You also get an extended warranty. Overview of the Hathaspace Air Purifier

Here’s a video overview of the device. In the video, you can see how easy it is to change and replace the filter and how loud the device can get on its highest setting which will most likely be rarely used.

Construction of the Hathaspace Air Purifier

hathaspace constructionMy Hathaspace Findings

There’s really not much to get this setup. There are instructions but the most important is to remove the plastic wrapping from the filter itself before operating.

hathaspace instructions

This is the second 5 stage air purifier I have tried and I am a convert to this technology. I noticed a real difference in air quality within minutes after turning this on. Here’s a look at each filter.

The black grid in the picture below is the pre-filter that gets rid of the biggest particles. This is a washable filter and to clean it you just need to run it under the sink and use a light scrub brush with a little bit of soap and then let air dry before re-attaching.

filter cover

The blue filter is the polypropylene prefilter which captures bigger particles so the HEPA filter can run more efficiently. Behind this filter is the HEPA filter which blocks smaller particles. There are tabs at the top that make it easy to remove from the device when it comes time to replace it.

hepa filter

There’s also a carbon filter inside that traps odors.

The backside of this is the cold carbon filter. This is the final stage of the filtration process and will remove VOCs.

green filter

I like that the filters are all put together in one container. When it comes time to replace it, you simply take it out and put back one piece. The only real maintenance is washing the pre-filter and wiping down the outer container if it gets dirty.

My Hathaspace Smart True Hepa Air Purifier Recommendation

This is air purifier is an incredible value for the money. At just under $400 you get some of the more advanced air cleaning technology that will remove more than just air particles. It’s hard to find large room air purifiers that are this effective at this price point that will run this quietly. It is very intuitive to operate as it has an automatic mode that will detect air quality and adjust the fan as needed. There’s even a night mode that will turn off all the display lights if you keep it in your bedroom. The overall design is sleek and modern so it won’t look awkward in your living room.

As we are spending more time indoors it’s important that we have an optimal environment for health and productivity. Breathing clean air will reduce your likelihood of getting sick and just make you feel healthier and happier.

Hathaspace vs. Molekule

Hathaspace air purifiers and Molekule air purifiers are both popular brands of air purifiers, but they have some key differences.

Hathaspace air purifiers use a combination of HEPA filters and activated carbon filters to remove a wide range of pollutants from the air, including dust, pollen, pet dander, smoke, and VOCs. HEPA filters are very effective at removing small particles from the air, while activated carbon filters are effective at removing gases and odors.

Molekule air purifiers use a technology called PECO (Photo Electrochemical Oxidation) to destroy pollutants at the molecular level. PECO technology uses ultraviolet light and a catalyst to create a process that breaks down pollutants into harmless molecules.

Here is a table comparing Hathaspace and Molekule air purifiers:

Mattress Pad vs. Mattress Protector

Mattress Pad

Goal: Comfort. A pad is thicker (often 1-2 inches) and quilted. It is designed to add a layer of softness to a firm bed, regulate temperature, or change the "feel" of the mattress surface. While it offers some protection, it is not usually waterproof.

Mattress Protector

Goal: Defense. A protector is a thin, fitted sheet style layer. Its primary job is to be waterproof and stop dust mites, bacteria, and liquids from ruining the mattress foam. It does not change the feel of the bed.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between a mattress pad and a mattress protector?

A mattress pad adds comfort and quilting, while a protector is a thin waterproof barrier designed solely to keep the mattress clean.

Do mattress pads make you hot?

They can if they use cheap polyester fill. To avoid this, choose pads made from bamboo (like Cozy Earth), cotton, or pads with active cooling technology (like Eight Sleep).

How often should I wash my mattress pad?

We recommend washing your mattress pad every 2-3 months to remove sweat and allergens. Always check the care label, especially for heated or smart pads which may not be machine washable.

Can a mattress pad fix an old mattress?

It can improve the surface feel, but if your mattress has deep sagging or broken springs, a pad is only a temporary band-aid. You likely need a new mattress.
