TEMPUR-LUXEbreeze Review: The Coldest, Most Contouring Mattress Tempur-Pedic Sells

The LUXEbreeze is the top of the Tempur mountain — TEMPUR-APR+ (their densest material) plus the maximum-strength Breeze cooling stack. Manufacturer claim: ‘up to 8° cooler than a standard Tempur.’ Real number in our testing: ~5°F. Either way, it’s the coldest bed in the lineup — and the most expensive.

How LUXEbreeze differs from PRObreeze

Two things get upgraded: the comfort material moves from TEMPUR-ES (PRObreeze) to TEMPUR-APR+ (LUXEbreeze) for deeper hug, and the cooling stack adds a second phase-change layer plus a ventilated Ventilated Comfort Layer beneath it. That second layer is where the extra 2°F of cooling comes from.

Cooling that actually matters in a warm bedroom

In a 74°F bedroom (typical summer setup), the LUXEbreeze holds surface temperature under 88°F for the full 60-minute test. The PRObreeze crosses 90°F at about the 45-minute mark. If you consistently kick off the covers at 2 AM, this is the mattress that fixes it.

Soft vs Firm

LUXEbreeze Soft is the mattress most people should buy — the extra cooling stack keeps the deep hug from feeling insulating. The LUXEbreeze Firm exists for buyers who want the cooling without the hug; it’s a good bed but a narrower use case.

Pros & cons

Pros

  • Coldest mattress Tempur-Pedic makes
  • Same class-leading motion isolation and pressure relief
  • Two firmness options — genuinely differentiated
  • 10-year warranty with real support

Cons

  • Very expensive — ~$4,999 queen
  • Extremely heavy — moving is a 2-3 person job
  • Overkill for cool sleepers — save $1,300 with the PRObreeze

Verdict

The LUXEbreeze is a specialty product. If you’re a hot-sleeping side sleeper and every other mattress you’ve owned made you overheat, this is the answer. If you’re just moderately warm, the PRObreeze does 85% of the job for $1,300 less. Only buy the LUXEbreeze if the cooling is the specific problem you need solved.

LUXEbreeze in the current Breeze range

LUXEbreeze is the top of Tempur-Pedic’s passive-cooling range — no fans, no plug, just more cooling material and a deeper comfort layer than ProBreeze. It comes in Soft and Firm, and that choice matters more than the collection choice, because the two versions sleep like different mattresses.

Model What Tempur-Pedic says it is
TEMPUR-ProBreeze The mid Breeze. Cooling cover and phase-change material with a standard TEMPUR support core; sold in Medium and Medium Hybrid.
TEMPUR-LUXEbreeze The top passive-cooling Breeze. More cooling material and a deeper comfort layer; sold in Soft and Firm.
TEMPUR-ActiveBreeze The smart bed. ActiveAir Technology actively moves conditioned air through the mattress; Tempur-Pedic advertises up to 30° cooler than its own standard beds.

Soft or Firm — how to choose without guessing

  • Soft: side sleepers, anyone under roughly 150 lbs, and people who want the classic deep TEMPUR hug at the shoulder and hip.
  • Firm: back and stomach sleepers, heavier sleepers who sink too far into Soft, and anyone who wants the cooling without the immersive feel.
  • Couples split between the two: a split king on an adjustable base is the only way to get both firmnesses in one bed.

Who should skip it

If you dislike the sensation of a mattress conforming around you, no Breeze model will fix that — cooling and feel are separate problems. Combination sleepers who change position frequently often prefer a hybrid with coils for easier movement. And if your real complaint is night sweats rather than surface warmth, an actively cooled bed or a cooling topper addresses it more directly than a passive cover does.

Break-in, base compatibility and delivery

Every TEMPUR bed needs a genuine break-in period. The material is temperature responsive, so a mattress delivered in a cold truck in January can feel dramatically firmer for the first few nights than the same bed felt in a warm showroom. That is the reason Tempur-Pedic’s 90-night trial exists — judge it in week three, not on night one.

TEMPUR mattresses need a firm, fully supportive surface: a solid platform, a close-slatted foundation, or a compatible adjustable base. Sagging box springs are the most common cause of a warranty claim being declined. If Tempur-Pedic’s White Glove delivery is included with your purchase, take it — these mattresses are heavy and awkward to place alone.

Breeze buying terms (tempurpedic.com, September 2026): 90-night risk-free trial, 10-year limited warranty, free shipping, and free White Glove delivery with select mattress purchases. Tempur-Pedic also runs 0% APR financing offers on Breeze mattresses; the promotional term changes month to month, so confirm it at checkout rather than assuming last month’s offer.

Frequently asked questions

Is LUXEbreeze actually cooler than ProBreeze?

Tempur-Pedic positions it that way, with more cooling material in the cover and comfort layer. Both are passive systems, so the ceiling is limited by your room: a cooling cover slows heat buildup, it does not refrigerate the bed.

Does it work on an adjustable base?

Yes. TEMPUR material flexes well, which is why Tempur-Pedic sells these beds as adjustable-base sets. The requirement is a supportive, non-sagging base.

How long is the trial and warranty?

Tempur-Pedic lists a 90-night trial and a 10-year limited warranty on the Breeze collection, with free shipping and free White Glove delivery on select purchases.
