Leesa Pillow Review: Legacy Model

Status: Archive review. This page covers Leesa’s older Avena-foam pillow, not the company’s current pillow lineup.

Best for: Readers researching the original Leesa pillow or comparing an older used/legacy model.

Quick verdict: The original pillow had a responsive, ventilated foam feel. Current Leesa pillows use different constructions, so do not rely on the old price, dimensions or materials when shopping today.

Watch-outs: Leesa’s current lineup now includes adjustable, latex, cooling, down and down-alternative options.

See current Leesa options · Pillow review hub

All Leesa pillows were offered in several designs, and the original review mentioned a 30-night trial. That old trial language is not a guarantee of the terms on today’s Leesa pillows. The original trial and refund wording came from the historical product listing. Check the current pillow’s seller, return eligibility and warranty before purchasing.

Leesa pillows are generally well-reviewed by customers. Many customers praise the pillows for their comfort, support, and quality. However, some customers have found that the pillows are too firm or too soft for their liking.

If you are looking for a new pillow, Leesa is a good option to consider. The company offers a variety of pillow types to choose from, and all of its pillows are backed by a sleep trial.

I recently received a Leesa Pillow for review. The Leesa Pillow is a great choice for people who have recently purchased a Leesa mattress or are looking for a soft and supportive pillow that won’t literally let you down at night. If you are wondering if a Leesa mattress is right for you, check out my review. This pillow was specifically designed to work in conjunction with the Leesa mattress but on it’s own feels really nice and I would recommend using it with just about any memory foam mattress.

Overview of the Leesa Pillow

The Leesa Pillow has the look and feel of the Leesa mattress. By that I mean that the cover of the pillow is the same knit fabric used for the cover of the mattress and the inside of the pillow is made with Avena foam, the same foam used on the top layer of the mattress to give it the bouncy springy feeling that still provides great pressure relief and support.

Here’s a video overview of the pillow with me on the Leesa mattress.

A standard size currently retails for $75 and a king size for $95 which you can buy direct through their website. To complete your set you can even buy the Leesa blanket which also is made with the same fabric found of the cover of the mattress. It is cozy and heavy enought for comfort you but not too thick as to make you overheat. Perfect for a couch and late night Netflix binges.

The Leesa pillow comes in a box like the one below. It’s not shrink wrapped so is ready to use right out the box.

Leesa Pillow Box

Out of the box you will find that it is wrapped in plastic to protect it from getting dirty in transit. There’s also a nice card that talks about some of the charitable work that the company has done.

My Leesa Pillow Recommendation

I would especially recommend this pillow if you are going to buy a Leesa matttress. It definitely works well with the mattress since they are made of the same materials. Having both the pillow and the mattress gives you a constent feel across your entire body.

If you are going to buy the pillow alone. I recommend it for people looking for a cool pillow that has a little bounce to it. It feels very similar to a soft latex pillow. The inside of the pillow has holes in it to allow for extra breathability.

Here’s a peek at the inside of the pillow.

Leesa Pillow Inside

As mentioned in the desription, the cover is removeable and washable. Heres a sideview of the pillow where you can see the zipper.

Below is a video that shows how responsive the pillow is. Again, this is very similar to how a latex pillow behaves. The difference is that it will contour a bit better than a latex pillow and won’t push back as much.

Frequently Asked Questions About Leesa Pillow Review

Is the Leesa pillow worth it?

This is an archival review of Leesa's original Avena-foam pillow, not a recommendation based on today's inventory. It may interest owners who like responsive ventilated foam; shoppers should compare the current Leesa pillow lineup instead.

Who is the Leesa pillow best for?

The Leesa pillow is best for individuals who prefer a cool sleep surface and those who are purchasing a Leesa mattress to ensure a consistent sleep experience.

What are the downsides of the Leesa pillow?

Some users have found the Leesa pillow to be either too firm or too soft, highlighting that personal preference plays a significant role in pillow satisfaction.

Is the Leesa pillow good for hot sleepers?

The original Avena foam Leesa pillow had ventilation holes intended to improve airflow. That construction may appeal to warmer sleepers, but this older review cannot guarantee cooling or describe Leesa's newer pillow designs.

Where can I try the Leesa pillow in person?

While the article mentions the Encinitas showroom, it does not confirm if the Leesa pillow is available for testing there.

How does the Leesa pillow compare to other foam pillows?

The Leesa pillow uses a responsive, adaptive Avena foam with cooling ventilation holes, a material also found in the top layer of the Leesa mattress, which gives it a distinct bouncy yet supportive feel.

Tempur-Pedic Neck Pillow Review: Contour, Firmness and Feel

Tempur-Pedic Neck Pillow

Original firsthand review · Layout updated October 2026

My review verdict

I liked the TEMPUR-Neck Pillow’s slow contouring and appreciated its removable, washable cover. Its shaped, firm feel takes some getting used to. Although I mostly sleep on my stomach, I could see the appeal of the contour for side and back sleepers who like this kind of foam.

Questions about my review

What did I like about the foam?

I liked the way it slowly contoured. I also noted that this slow-response feel would not suit everyone.

Was I testing it as a dedicated side sleeper?

No. I described myself as mostly a stomach sleeper in the original review. My comments about side and back sleeping reflect my assessment of its contour and support.

Can the cover be washed?

The original sample had a removable, washable cover. That observation concerns the cover, not washing the foam core.

Are the old price and dimensions current?

The price and sizing list below are preserved from the original review. Check the current model’s specifications when choosing a size.

Mediflow Waterbase Pillow Review: Filling, Firmness and Setup

Mediflow Pillow Review

Original firsthand review · Layout updated October 2026

Review verdict

The Mediflow’s main appeal in the original review was adjustable firmness through its water chamber. The reviewer found filling it straightforward with a one-liter bottle, but learned to pour slowly after a small spill. Removing trapped air and securely closing the cap were key setup details. The account documents setup and feel rather than a measured long-term pain outcome.

Original setup and review video

Questions about this Mediflow review

What did the pillow feel like before adding water?

The original reviewer described a medium-firm feel even before filling the water chamber.

How did the reviewer fill it?

An empty one-liter water bottle made it easy to measure additions. The reviewer found one liter made little difference and referred to the included chart’s two-liter starting point for a soft setting.

What made setup tricky?

The reviewer spilled a little water after looking away, so slow pouring mattered. Removing trapped air and tightening the cap with the supplied tool were also emphasized.

Does the review prove it will relieve my neck pain?

No. The hands-on account mainly documents setup and feel. The small historical study is relevant background, but it cannot predict an individual result.

Did the review report a leaking pillow?

The reviewer reported a spill while filling, not a confirmed leak during use. The later concern about leaks came from other online reviews.

Sweetnight Pillow Review: Original vs Melody

sweetnight pillows

Frequently Asked Questions About Sweetnight Pillow Review (2026): Pros, Cons & Verdict

Is the Sweetnight Original pillow good for hot sleepers?

The original Sweetnight pillow used gel-infused foam and a cover marketed for cooling. Its adjustable loft can help with fit, but those materials do not guarantee overnight cooling. Check the particular Sweetnight model because its foam pieces and materials may differ across versions.

Who is the Sweetnight Melody pillow best for?

The Sweetnight Melody pillow is best for individuals who prefer a softer feel in their pillows. It consists of two down alternative pillows with polyester filling, offering a plush and welcoming alternative to memory foam.

How does the Sweetnight Original pillow compare to cheaper memory foam pillows?

The Sweetnight Original pillow stands out from cheaper alternatives by using neat cubes of foam for greater consistency and comfort, rather than shredded foam. This design allows for better customization and a more uniform feel, which was evident during our unpacking and initial adjustments.

What are the customization options for Sweetnight pillows?

In the original review, the Sweetnight Original offered adjustable foam pieces while the Melody was a softer alternative. The Original uses a zippered outer cover that allows easy access to the filling. This enables users to adjust the pillow's height and firmness to their personal preference, a feature we found very useful in our testing.

Where can I try Sweetnight pillows in person in San Diego?

While the article mentions Yawnder is a San Diego mattress retailer with an Encinitas, CA showroom, it does not specifically state that Sweetnight pillows are available for in-person testing at that location. Purchasing is primarily mentioned as being through the official Sweetnight website.

What are the downsides of the Sweetnight Original pillow mentioned in the review?

One minor initial downside noted was that the Original Sweetnight pillow appeared a bit inflated right after unpacking, reminiscent of roll-packed mattresses. However, this is easily addressed by adjusting the filling for personalized comfort, and any off-gassing can be handled by airing it out or using a dryer on a no-heat setting.

Choosing between the Sweetnight Original and Melody

Two very different feels

Sweetnight sells the Original as a gel-infused shredded memory foam pillow with an adjustable fill, and the Melody as a down alternative pillow with a plush, traditional feel. They are not two versions of the same product. Pick the Original if you want to tune the height and prefer a foam-like, supportive surface. Pick the Melody if you like a pillow you can punch into shape and want the familiar softness of a hotel-style pillow.

Getting the height right

With the Original, remove fill in small amounts and test each setting for a couple of nights. With the Melody, loft is set by how much you fluff it rather than how much is inside, so shake it out along its length each morning. If you wake up with a stiff neck on either pillow, the loft is usually the culprit before the material is.

Where the value sits

Both models compete at the budget end of the market, and the Melody is commonly sold as a two-pack, which makes it a practical choice for guest rooms and kids' rooms. At this price you should expect a shorter useful life than a premium latex pillow, so factor in replacing it sooner rather than treating it as a long-term purchase.

Cooling expectations

Gel infusion and a breathable cover help, but no pillow is a substitute for a cool room and breathable bedding. If you sleep hot, pair either pillow with a percale, linen or Tencel case and skip heavy quilted protectors, which trap heat right where your head sits.

Frequently asked questions

Which Sweetnight pillow is better for side sleepers?

The Original is usually the safer pick for side sleepers because you can keep the loft high enough to fill the gap at the shoulder. The Melody can work if you fluff it aggressively, but it compresses more overnight.

Can the Sweetnight pillows be washed?

Down alternative pillows like the Melody are generally machine washable on a gentle cycle; shredded foam pillows like the Original should have only the cover washed. Always follow the care tag that ships with your pillow.

How long do budget pillows last?

Expect noticeably less support after a couple of years of nightly use. A simple test: fold the pillow in half and let go — if it stays folded instead of springing back, it is done.

Is a two-pack worth it?

It is if you need matching pillows for a queen or king bed, or spares for guests. It is not a reason to choose a feel that does not suit your sleeping position.

Frequently Asked Questions About Puffy Pillow Review (2026): Comfort & Support Analysis

Is the Puffy Pillow worth the price?

The originally reviewed Puffy Pillow used removable foam fill for adjustable loft. Puffy also currently lists its Signature Pillow with adjustable AdaptFill foam, but the exact product generation, materials and price should be checked before comparing value. Its medium-firm feel and robust support make it particularly suitable for those who prioritize neck alignment. The ability to adjust the foam filling allows for a personalized sleep experience, which adds to its overall worth.

Who is the Puffy Pillow best for?

The Puffy Pillow is best for side sleepers and individuals who prefer a medium-firm pillow with adjustable loft. Its capacity to retain shape and provide substantial support helps maintain proper neck alignment. People who appreciate the option to customize their pillow's firmness will find this a suitable choice.

What are the downsides of the Puffy Pillow?

Some downsides of the Puffy Pillow include initial off-gassing, a pillowcase that may not fully meet aesthetic expectations from its online representation, and a somewhat messy foam adjustment process. While the cleaning up after adjusting the foam isn't a deal-breaker, it's something to consider. The off-gassing is common with foam products but requires some airing out time.

Is the Puffy Pillow good for hot sleepers?

Yes, the Puffy Pillow is designed to be good for hot sleepers due to its Bamboo Rayon outer pillowcase which has thermoregulating and moisture-wicking properties. A breathable cover may feel more comfortable to warm sleepers, but it cannot guarantee prevention of overheating or night sweats.

Where can I try the Puffy Pillow in person?

While the article mentions a 365-night sleep trial for pillows purchased directly from Puffy's online store, it does not specify any physical locations like Yawnder's Encinitas showroom to try the Puffy Pillow in person. Puffy's generous sleep trial through their website allows customers to test the pillow in their own home. Yawnder focuses on mattresses in its showroom, not pillows.

How does the Puffy Pillow cater to customizable comfort?

The Puffy Pillow caters to customizable comfort by allowing users to adjust the amount of foam filling to achieve their ideal loft and firmness. This unique feature means the pillow can be tailored to various sleeping preferences and positions. Removing or adding foam helps achieve a personalized comfort level, although it can be a bit messy.

How to get the most out of the Puffy Pillow

Set the loft before you judge it

The Puffy Pillow ships over-filled on purpose so you can subtract rather than add. Unzip the inner cover, pull out a handful of the shredded foam, lie down in your normal sleeping position and check whether your ears line up over your shoulders. Side sleepers usually keep most of the fill; back sleepers typically remove a small amount so the head is not pushed forward; stomach sleepers remove a lot. Give each adjustment two or three nights before changing it again, because your neck needs time to adapt to a new angle.

Off-gassing and break-in

A new memory foam pillow can have a noticeable smell for the first few days. Unzip the cover and let it air out in a well-ventilated room before the first night, and wash the removable cover before use. The foam also feels firmer straight out of the box than it does after a week of body heat and pressure.

Who it suits and who should look elsewhere

The adjustable shredded-foam design is easiest to recommend to side and combination sleepers, and to anyone who has previously bought a fixed-loft pillow that turned out to be wrong. Strict stomach sleepers are usually better served by a genuinely thin pillow, and sleepers who dislike the slightly loose, shifting feel of shredded fill may prefer a solid foam or latex core.

Care and replacement

Machine wash the outer cover and keep the foam fill dry — soaking shredded foam is the fastest way to ruin it. Add a breathable pillow protector if you use skincare products at night. Most shredded-foam pillows start to flatten in the middle after a few years of nightly use; if you find yourself adding fill back constantly, that is the signal to replace it rather than re-adjust it.

Frequently asked questions

Can you add filling back to the Puffy Pillow?

Yes, as long as you keep the foam you removed. Store it in a sealed bag so it stays clean and dry, and add it back a handful at a time rather than all at once.

Is the Puffy Pillow machine washable?

The outer cover is removable and washable. The shredded foam fill should not go in a washing machine — spot clean it and let it dry fully if it ever gets damp.

What loft should side sleepers use?

Side sleepers generally need the highest loft of any position because the shoulder creates a bigger gap between the mattress and the head. Start with the pillow as shipped and remove fill only if your head is tilted upward toward the ceiling.

Does the pillow sleep hot?

Shredded foam breathes better than a solid memory foam block because air moves through the gaps, but it still retains more heat than latex or down alternative. A percale or Tencel pillowcase helps more than most people expect.

Did the reviewer remove any fill?

Was there a noticeable odor?

The reviewer reported no unusual odor during the original unboxing. That is an observation about that sample.

No standardized firmness measurement appears in this account. Support and softness are the original reviewer’s subjective impressions.

Eli & Elm Profile

Eli & Elm entered the bedding world in January 2019 with a goal to create high quality bedding for the average sleep enthusiast. Based in New Haven, CT, their name is an homage to Eli Whitney—the inventor of the cotton gin; and Elm City—the home of Whitney before its name was changed to New Haven. Three Connecticut men were inspired by Eli Whitney’s innovation with the plant, so they took to improving the world of cotton bedding, with aspiring dreams to make the bed a better place for sleep. There hasn’t been much innovation in the textile industry, so Eli & Elm made it their mission to create luxurious and durable sheets for affordable prices. Their work with researchers and engineers has paved the way for eco-friendly advancements in the field while also focusing their resources on making fair trade products that are ethically sound.

Eli & Elm sent me their king-size organic cotton Side Sleeper pillow. The large cushion was rolled up and stuffed inside its long, white shipping box.

I pulled it out and cut away the bag and tape to reveal a gold and ivory pillow shaped like half of a fingertip bandage.

The quilted pillow fabric is extremely soft, and the filling is especially plush and squishy. The front and back of the pillow have “Organic” written stylistically across the pleats, and are joined by a gold suede band.

The seams are hidden and seem durable enough to withstand even the roughest of sleepers. I really appreciate the placement of the zipper, as many zippers that go from corner to corner often get jammed with the interior fabric. When I unzipped the portal to coziness, I was met with tiny noodles of cotton stuffing, which Eli & Elm explains can be removed to adjust height, support, and cushiness for a fully customizable experience.

Side Sleeper Construction

Eli & Elm’s pillow design is not only customizable for all sleepers, but it’s specially designed to benefit side-sleepers. The unique shape gives the head and neck the support they need, which is often not provided by flat pillows. I have two flat pillows that have lost every ounce of support and comfort that they once had, so this has been a long time coming. I couldn’t find any information on how I was supposed wash it, and I’ve had issues in the past with damp pillows, so I gave it an extra hour for good measure totaling 120 minutes on low heat. Once out of the dryer, I could start enjoying the pillow without having to smell the factory in which it was made.

The pillow fabric is comprised of 37% organic cotton, 2% spandex, and 61% polyester; and the fill is made of 75% latex and 25% polyester fiber. Eli & Elm claim that their cotton fabric is breathable, hypoallergenic, eco-friendly, and temperature modulating, so I was intrigued to try it alongside Eli & Elm’s Cooling Whitney Collection. Unlike the Whitney Collection, the Side Sleeper does not utilize Phase Changing Materials in its construction, so experiencing the cooling effects side-by-side would give me an ideal comparison test. In the end, it really did do what they said it would.

My Side Sleeper Findings

The pillow is heavy and kind of unwieldy—if you hold it with one hand, you feel like it will stretch into oblivion, but if you hold it with two hands, it still figures out a way to spill over your arms. When moving the pillow, it feels as though it’s caught somewhere between liquid and solid despite very clearly just being a fabric pillow stuffed with little squishy noodles. When placed on an immovable surface—like a bed—the pillow takes on a whole different personality. The noodles compress under the weight of your head allowing the half-fingertip-bandage shape to conform to your neck. The Side Sleeper feels like a luxury neck pillow made of pizza dough, and I love it. It can be hard to find a pillow that meets all of your greatest expectations, but Eli & Elm got it right this time. No matter which way I slept or rolled, the pillow was always there, giving me the best cushion experience for all sides of my head. It was both supportive and forgiving, which makes it a perfect pillow for literally anyone.

When used simultaneously with Eli & Elm’s Whitney Collection, I found myself in one of the most breathable and temperature consistent sleeping environments ever. Sure, getting into the bed was a bit chilly (my house thermostat is pretty consistently set between 55F and 62F morning and night), but once inside, all the high tech cooling fabric started doing its thing and the sheets and pillow quickly adjusted to my body temperature. After a few days of usage, I was curious what the other side of the pillow felt like since the undersides of pillows are always colder—this one was very cold. In a sleepy daze, I strangely couldn’t tell if the pillow was cold because it was damp or just cold—turns out by perching the Side Sleeper on top of my other pillows (covered with the Whitney pillowcases), I created a kind of black hole for heat in between the two cooling fabrics.

My Side Sleeper Recommendation

Eli & Elm’s Side Sleeper is a magnificent pillow for sleeping, to which I have found no comparison. That said, pillows are generally very versatile and practical, but I don’t think the Side Sleeper shares those traits. Due to its shape, it wouldn’t make for a back or head cushion while playing cards or writing your next novel, and its weight and Jell-O-esque feel make me think traveling with it would be a hassle—its true element is on a bed. The only thing that I’m unsure about at this moment is the stiffness of the pillow. This of course is just a personal problem, because Eli & Elm recommends removing or adding noodles as you go to get the perfect firmness, which I haven’t gotten around to doing. So for all of you prospective buyers and readers out there, if you’re looking for a pillow that is more squishy than firm, make sure you extract some noodles first before deciding it’s not for you! In the off chance the Side Sleeper is just not for you, Eli & Elm has a 45-day risk free trial period so you never have to invest in something you don’t actually like. For me? This is a real keeper and paces miles ahead of the comparable $100 solid bamboo pillow I got online.

Frequently Asked Questions About Eli and Elm Side Sleeper Pillow: Must-Have for Best Sleep

Is the Eli & Elm Side Sleeper Pillow worth the investment for a better night's sleep?

Yes, its unique design and adjustable filling make it a strong contender for improving sleep, especially for side sleepers. The pillow's support for the head and neck, along with the ability to customize its height, addresses common issues found in traditional pillows, as our San Diego team found during testing. This personalized approach to comfort suggests its value.

Who is the Eli & Elm Side Sleeper Pillow best suited for?

This pillow is specifically engineered for side sleepers who need targeted support for their head and neck. Its distinctive half-fingertip bandage shape is designed to cradle the head and provide stability, which was a noticeable benefit during hands-on testing. The adjustable filling further allows side sleepers to fine-tune its firmness and loft to their preference.

How does the Eli & Elm Side Sleeper Pillow compare to traditional memory foam pillows?

The Eli & Elm Side Sleeper Pillow offers a unique feel with its cotton stuffing noodles, allowing for adjustable loft and a balance between liquid and solid textures, unlike the more consistent density of most memory foam. While memory foam often conforms to shape, this pillow's customizable fill provides a different kind of adaptable support that our testers found distinct. Its organic cotton and latex-polyester blend also contribute to a different material experience compared to synthetic memory foam.

What are the potential downsides of the Eli & Elm Side Sleeper Pillow?

The pillow can be somewhat heavy and unwieldy, making it a bit challenging to manage with one hand according to our hands-on experience. While it offers adjustable filling for personalized support, this feature might also require some initial trial and error to find the ideal comfort level. The unique shape, while beneficial for side sleepers, might also take some getting used to for those accustomed to traditional pillow forms.

Is the Eli & Elm Side Sleeper Pillow good for hot sleepers?

Eli & Elm claims their organic cotton fabric is breathable and capable of temperature modulation, suggesting potential benefits for hot sleepers. While direct cooling effects were not solely attributed to the pillow in our initial assessment, its breathability as an organic cotton product could contribute to a cooler sleep environment compared to less airflow-friendly materials. Further testing in conjunction with the Cooling Whitney Collection indicated a harmonious cooling experience.

Adjustable and specialty pillows explained

Adjustable pillows let you add or remove fill so the loft matches your shoulder width and mattress firmness. That flexibility is the main reason they suit people who have bought several pillows and never found the right height.

A softer mattress lets your shoulder sink further, which usually means you need a lower pillow than you would on a firm bed. Adjust the pillow after you change the mattress, not before.

Getting the fit right

Lie in your usual position and have someone check your neck from the front: your nose should stay in line with the centre of your chest, with no upward or downward tilt.

Change fill in small amounts and sleep on each setting for a couple of nights before judging it.

Materials and care

Shredded foam and down-alternative fills are easy to redistribute and breathe reasonably well. Latex shreds are springier and hold loft longer.

Use a protector, wash covers monthly, and keep spare fill in a sealed bag so you can top up as the pillow compresses.

FAQs

How much fill should I remove first?

Start by taking out about a cup at a time; small changes are easier to judge than large ones.

Do adjustable pillows work for stomach sleepers?

Yes, and they are one of the few options that go thin enough, since most stomach sleepers need very little loft.

Can I mix fill types?

You can, and combining shredded foam with a little down-alternative often softens the surface without losing support.

The Cubes Pillow Review: Geometric Foam and Reversible Feel

Cubes Pillow

Original 2018 review · Layout updated October 2026

Review verdict

The Cubes Pillow’s distinctive feature is its connected geometric foam structure, with two sides described as firm and soft. The original review found its feel different from conventional solid foam and cautioned that the shape would not suit every sleeper. Start with its fixed height and unusual surface when deciding whether it fits your preferences.

YourFacePillow Review: Comfort & Wrinkle Claims

Your Face Pillow

Overview of the YourFacePillow

The YourFacePillow is a unique looking pillow that has been created to reduce facial contact with the underlying sleep surface, something that is known to contribute to the appearance of wrinkles and acne. It’s constructed to encourage one to sleep in soldier position or the famous yoga corpse pose. Allowing you to easily sleep on your back, this pillow will keep your neck and your head in an anatomically correct position while you sleep. Unless you decide to sleep on your side with it, it has many promising features. 🙂

Why I Sought Out The YourFacePillow

The YourFacePillow initially caught my interest because I was suffering from the worst acne I had ever experienced in all of my 28 years. I fought with my skin for an entire year, trying to do everything I could to control it. Like some mysterious crime, it was something I was committed to solving. I spent lots of money on various cleaners and creams and I also tore up my face with my own at-home extraction kit. I used it so aggressively that I would later be horrified at how many scars I had left behind. I didn’t realize that at my age, delicate skin scars and folds more easily. After the year of fighting was up and with no improvement in sight, I finally paid a visit to my OBGYN only to find out that the birth control I had been taking to treat my PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome) was no longer effective at managing my symptoms. One of those symptoms is painful and inescapable hormonal acne.

Aside from the typical surface area that zits like to occupy, hormonal acne, in particular, is another beast. Typically, it’s known to appear in areas such as the jawline and neck. Described as cystic acne, these types of pimples are often deep under the skin, making them not only painful but difficult to even access (and get rid of). Some don’t even come to a head, meaning there will be an evident bump on the face but no white dot in the center to know that it’s ripe for popping. Some of these pimples can appear and just remain. Eventually, it’s not even a zit anymore, just a raised mark for you to remember it by.

I could have at least considered that my hormones were the cause of the year-long sudden shift in my skin but the daily routine of taking my medication had become an automatic robotic ritual. One that never left any time for thinking. It was easy to neglect my health because I assumed it was already being properly managed.

That year of fighting with my skin, however, has thankfully taught me a lot. I’ve learned a lot about acne and specifically, hormonal acne. I also have come to understand PCOS more intellectually and I’ve educated myself about ways in which the skin can change and age and how to treat it well if one wishes to have a shot at aging gracefully.

It’s also important to consider that how you face your day isn’t all that matters. How and where you end your day is relevant too.

Where you sleep and what you lay your head on accumulates many lovely things over time.  Aside from built-up skin cells, pillows are also great containers for dirt, oil, sweat, bacteria, as well as various allergens—dust-mites and pet dander being just one example.

Aside from the respiratory problems that can result from sleeping on an unclean pillow, the cleaner our pillow, the cleaner and clearer of a face we can realistically expect. While slovenly pillows and pillowcases may not be the primary cause of acne, they are known to exacerbate acne and act as a source of irritation. What’s even better than a clean pillow, if there is such a thing? How about not even letting your face make contact with your pillow? I know, I know. I’ve been told I’m idealistic but I know that those with sensitive skin can empathize with my concerns. Sleeping on your back and letting your face relax—with nothing in its way—usually feels and works best. And that’s why this pillow is awesome.

Construction of the YourFacePillow

yourfacepillow-one-year-review

The YourFacePillow is made with CertiPUR Certified foam. That means that it’s made without PBDEs, TDCPP, TCEP flame retardants, mercury, lead and heavy metals, formaldehyde and phthalates. Known as viscoelastic foam or memory foam, this pillow won’t lose its shape or integrity over time and it’s lightness and breathability makes sure that you never sleep hot. Additionally, as supportive as the foam may be, it’s also incredibly soft, pleasant and comfortable. The pillow itself comes in a hypo-allergenic inner cover and of course, it also comes with a washable bamboo outer cover. There is a satin case available as well however it must be purchased separately.

The YourFacePillow comes in two size variations (Standard and Large) however the dimensions are actually the same for both—the thing that differs is that the Standard version has a slightly lower headrest and the side supports sit more closely together. The Standard size is what the company recommends for most people.

My YourFacePillow Findings

In my YourFacePillow Review video, I provide a comprehensive look at this pillow after using it for almost a year. I discuss what it was like transitioning from being a side sleeper to a back sleeper, the challenges that came with the adjustment, as well as how this effective this pillow is for both the reduction of acne as well as wrinkles.

My YourFacePillow Recommendation

It’s bizarre to think that a pillow can contribute to a more beautiful and radiant face but it’s actually possible. This pillow won’t solve your acne but it will keep you on your back so that your face is correctly positioned to sleep facing straight all through the night. If you can adhere to simply laying on your back, you will see that you have less breakouts and that the skin on your face does rest more proportionately. Some wrinkles may have time to smooth out, especially if they’re a result of improper sleeping positioning. Continue to sleep on your back (until the end of time) as often as possible for the best anti-aging benefits.

For acne sufferers: If you find that you can’t keep up with changing the pillowcase as often as you should (at least 1 to 2x/week), make use of clean towels and clean t-shirts to step in and save the day.

If you typically do not sleep on your back and are looking to gradually adjust positions, keep another pillow to the side as a just-in-case. In the event that you wake up with a stiff neck from accidentally moving in your sleep (and no longer being on your back), you may need to alternate to the second pillow, to help you cope with the neck pain while the knot heals, before returning to using the YourFacePillow again.

Frequently Asked Questions About YourFacePillow Review (2026): Anti-Aging Benefits?

Is the YourFacePillow worth it for someone with acne?

The pillow's raised side supports are intended to keep some of the face away from the bedding when lying on the back. Our comfort observations do not establish that it prevents or treats acne; irritation has many possible causes.

Who is the YourFacePillow best suited for?

The YourFacePillow is best suited for back sleepers, or those looking to transition to back sleeping, who are concerned about skin health, particularly minimizing wrinkles and acne. Its design promotes a specific sleep posture to keep the face elevated, addressing common skin issues.

What are the potential downsides of the YourFacePillow?

A potential downside of the YourFacePillow is that it primarily encourages back sleeping, which might be a significant adjustment for consistent side sleepers. While the article notes options for transitioning, it could be a challenge for those who strongly prefer other sleeping positions.

Is the YourFacePillow good for hot sleepers?

The YourFacePillow is designed with breathability in mind, thanks to its CertiPUR Certified viscoelastic foam and bamboo outer cover, which should help prevent overheating. This construction aims to ensure a comfortable sleep temperature, even for those prone to sleeping hot.

Can the YourFacePillow prevent long-term wrinkles?

YourFacePillow is designed to reduce direct face-to-pillow contact when back sleeping. That might change temporary sleep creases, but this review does not establish long-term wrinkle prevention, anti-aging effects or skin-health benefits.

Can I try the YourFacePillow in person in San Diego?

While the article describes the product's features, it does not explicitly state that the YourFacePillow is available for in-person demonstration at Yawnder's Encinitas, CA showroom. For product availability, it's best to contact Yawnder directly to inquire about testing the pillow.

iSense Smart Pillow Review: Original Sleep-Tracking Model

Prefer an Amazon alternative? Compare adjustable anti-snore pillows on Amazon. Similar pillow options, not necessarily the product reviewed; availability and prices vary.

The iSense Smart Pillow is a high-tech, adjustable pillow that boasts various features for those who want to be more educated about just how well they sleep. It’s a step up from their other pillow, the Classic Regular Pillow, of which the main feature is only customization via the foam filling. With the Insense Smart Pillow there’s lots more to revel in.

Overview of the iSense Smart Pillow

The iSense Smart Pillow isn’t physically designed any differently than the iSense Classic Pillow but what is different about it is what lurks inside.

Along with the foam that goes inside the pillow is a hidden compartment that houses all of the awesome features of the product. Spread across the width of the pillow is a long sleep sensor. This sleep sensor is plugged into the included sleep tracker, which is something you’ll need to charge about every 3 weeks. The sleep tracker connects to your phone via bluetooth, where it’ll then be able to feed information to the Speedpace app (available on both Android and iOS devices) about it’s findings regarding how well, or how poorly, you slept.

For those wondering how they will wash a pillow like this, have no fear. Both the sleep sensor and sleep tracker (along with the cords to each) can be taken out of the pillow easily so that you can throw it in the washing machine.

Regarding the foam, there are two separate compartments that you can access to adjust the filling. There is a compartment for the top portion of the pillow, and a compartment for the bottom portion.

So what awesome features does this pillow offer?

On the tech side, with the sleep tracker, you’ll have access to knowledge you might not have otherwise. You’ll now know precisely how long it took you to fall asleep, how long you actually slept, how many sleep cycles you’ve had in a night, the number of times you tossed and turned, as well as your heart rate and respiratory rate. The app also comes with a smart alarm, personalized tips based on how you’re doing and social connectivity.

Aside from the tech stuff, some things you can expect are:

  • A 120-night trial period that will let you take your time to decide if it’s for you or not
  • Precision cross-cut cooling memory foam that is anti-clumping and CertiPUR-US® Certified
  • A premium and hypoallergenic cover made of moisture-wicking fabric, along with a breathable band

My iSense Smart Pillow Findings

As far as the pillow itself goes, the claims they make on their website are #facts. The outer cover is both stunning and cooling and I could tell immediately that they had used a moisture-wicking, Dacron-inspired fabric here. These types of textiles are so much more high-tech than people realize and that’s why items with them, or made out of them, come at a premium cost. The stitching on top is beautiful and it’s also true that the cover is silky-soft. They did a wonderful job in making this pillow feel totally luxurious and high-end. Even if you were in a store and you were “just browsing,” you’d be happy to have your fingers grace its surface. It’s honestly lovely. The way this pillow is sewn is also awesome. It’s not the standard style of what you’d expect from most pillows. It has corners, so-to-speak. Because there’s this well-designed band along its perimeter, it allows the pillow to maintain its shape more efficiently thereby creating space for your neck to be supported. As a plus, the piping on the outer cover really adds to the aesthetic.

With the foam filling, I think that having two separate compartments within the pillow where the filling can be adjusted was an incredibly wise and functional design choice. It’s all about balance here and it’s evident that element was really taken into consideration. This is a distinction that I cannot overlook, because they’ve created a way for the foam to move around and within the pillow without eventually coming to occupy a single space. The separation between the top and bottom layers allows the filling to be spread out, as it should be. As for the foam itself, it’s unlike any other foam filling I’ve ever seen before. The foam genuinely does not fall flat. It’s honestly impressive and it’s also surprising how fast it returns to its original volume.

My iSense Smart Pillow Recommendation

I have to say that overall I really love this pillow. I like that it’s adjustable and machine washable and I think it’s great that the sleep sensor and sleep tracker are both removable. You can tell that there was a lot of effort put into its creation and every element is an indication of that—from the foam itself to the compartments it’s in, to the pillow’s fancy moisture-wicking outer shell, and even to the way it arrives at your door. The packaging is definitely proper and I’m a consumer who definitely appreciates great packaging.

isense smart pillow unboxed

I also want to add that the fact that the outer shell already has some foam lining is a really nice touch. Another awesome benefit about being able to remove the sleep tracker and sleep sensor is that if you wanted to, you could actually use it in other pillows as well. If for whatever reason you didn’t like this pillow, you would still be able to salvage the sleep tracker inside of it and continue to make use of it.

isense smart pillow out shell foam

From my research, I’ve found that there is apparently some controversy surrounding sleep apps. Despite this, it all seems to come down to personal opinion. I think that this pillow is a great choice for someone who can appreciate the tech behind it and who believes in the growth and evolution of consumer-friendly sleep tech. If you strive to be mindful of your health and of your sleep, this product is catered to your person. If you’re new to these types of smart products and manage to maintain a level of skepticism or reluctance, perhaps it’s best to stick with what you know, especially if you don’t think you’ll be making much use of it. Go with your gut instinct, they always say. iSense’s Regular Classic Pillow is what served as the foundation of their Smart Pillow so if you don’t want a smart product, go with the original, which is still a super duper luxurious choice, that I’m sure you’ll be more than happy with.

How to pick a cooling pillow

Cooling in a pillow comes from three places: the fill's airflow, the cover's fibre, and the surface area touching your face. Shredded fill and latex breathe better than a solid memory-foam block; percale cotton and lyocell covers move heat and moisture away faster than knit polyester.

Gel layers feel cool on contact but that effect fades once the surface warms. Airflow is what keeps a pillow cool through the night.

Loft by sleeping position

Side sleepers usually need the highest loft, roughly five to seven inches, to fill the gap between shoulder and ear.

Back sleepers do best at a medium loft, about four to five inches, so the head does not tip forward. Stomach sleepers need the thinnest pillow they can tolerate, often under three inches.

When to replace a pillow

Most foam and fill pillows are due for replacement every 18 months to three years. Signs include lumping, a permanent dent, waking with neck ache, or needing to fold the pillow to get support.

Wash or replace pillow protectors regularly; they are the reason a pillow does or does not stay hygienic.

FAQs

Can I wash a foam pillow?

Solid foam should be spot-cleaned only. Shredded fill in a removable cover is easier: wash the cover, air the fill.

Why does my pillow feel flatter after a few months?

Fill compresses with use. Fluffing daily helps shredded fill; solid foam that has taken a set needs replacing.

Does a cooling pillow help night sweats?

It can reduce trapped heat at the head, but bedding and room temperature matter more overall.
