Tempur-Pedic is a well-known brand in the sleep industry, and their pillows, like their mattresses, have garnered a dedicated following. The appeal of Tempur-Pedic pillows can be attributed to several factors:

  1. Proprietary Memory Foam: Tempur-Pedic’s viscoelastic foam, known as TEMPUR material, is renowned for its pressure-relieving properties. This foam contours closely to the head and neck, providing individualized support and reducing pressure points.

  2. Durability: TEMPUR foam is known for its durability. It tends to maintain its shape and supportive qualities for a more extended period compared to some other memory foams on the market.

  3. Variety: Tempur-Pedic offers a range of pillow models, including contouring designs for neck support, softer models for those who prefer a plush feel, and cooling models designed to mitigate heat retention.

  4. Brand Reputation: Tempur-Pedic has built a strong brand reputation over the years. Many consumers trust the brand due to their experience with other Tempur-Pedic products or based on recommendations from friends or family.

  5. Sleep Trials and Warranty: Tempur-Pedic often provides generous sleep trials and warranty periods for their pillows, which gives consumers confidence in their purchase and the longevity of the product.

  6. Reduction of Motion Transfer: The dense memory foam used in Tempur-Pedic pillows efficiently absorbs motion. This can be particularly useful for individuals sharing a bed, as movements from one person are less likely to disturb the other.

  7. Hypoallergenic Properties: The dense structure of the TEMPUR material is less conducive to allergens like dust mites, making it a suitable option for those with allergies.

  8. Promotion of Proper Spinal Alignment: Many users find that Tempur-Pedic pillows offer the right balance of support and contouring to promote neutral spinal alignment, particularly in the neck and upper spine region.

While Tempur-Pedic pillows have many appealing features, they also come with a premium price tag. It’s worth noting that pillows, much like mattresses, are subjective. What one person finds comfortable and supportive, another might not. Hence, it’s always a good idea to test a pillow or take advantage of sleep trials to ensure it’s the right fit for individual preferences and needs.

I recently received a TEMPUR-Neck Pillow from Tempurpedic for review. This pillos is a classic among the Tempurpedic line. I remember when this was first available in the late 1990s. It was revolutionary in that it veered from the traditional pillow shape and specifically addressed dedicated side sleepers. No doubt this pillow takes some getting used to but it has stood the test of time. The pillow currently retails at $99 for a medium size.

Here’s a picture of the pillow in the packaging.

Below is a video of me with the pillow. You’ll also get a sense of how the foam reacts and how it will look out of the packaging.

Here are the specification of the pillow according to the Tempurpedic website:

Findings

Although I am mostly a stomach sleeper, I can appreciate how this works for side and back sleepers by giving proper support for your neck while keeping you in alignment. Belos is a view of the contouring of the pillow.

Here’s a quick video of how the pillow reacts. I really like how this pillow slowly contours. That feeling isn’t for everyone but Tempurpedic is known for it and it offers excellent pressure relief.

The cover is removable and washable which is a nice feature. Here’s a picture of the zipper.

Conclusion

I highly recommend side sleepers who aren’t getting good support to try out at neck pillow. Tempurpedic has been making them for decades and they design has stood the test of time. If you’re wondering what size to get, they have a nice chart on their website that recommends a size based on your height. Often it seems that people don’t have the right loft in their pillow causing their head to get out of alignment.

Tempur-Pedic foam is a type of viscoelastic polyurethane foam, which is a material that is known for its ability to conform to the body and provide pressure relief. Tempur-Pedic foam is made with a proprietary formula that is different from other brands of viscoelastic polyurethane foam.

Some of the key benefits of Tempur-Pedic foam include:

  • Pressure relief: Tempur-Pedic foam is designed to evenly distribute body weight, which can help to relieve pressure points and improve circulation.
  • Support: Tempur-Pedic foam provides support for the spine and neck, which can help to improve alignment and reduce pain.
  • Motion isolation: Tempur-Pedic foam is very good at absorbing motion, which can help to reduce sleep disturbances from partners.
  • Durability: Tempur-Pedic foam is very durable and can last for many years.

However, there are also some potential drawbacks to Tempur-Pedic foam, such as:

  • Price: Tempur-Pedic foam mattresses and pillows are generally more expensive than other brands.
  • Heat retention: Tempur-Pedic foam can retain heat, which can make it uncomfortable for hot sleepers.
  • Off-gassing: Some people report experiencing an off-gassing odor when they first purchase a Tempur-Pedic mattress or pillow. This odor is usually harmless and goes away after a few days or weeks.

Overall, Tempur-Pedic foam is a high-quality material that offers a number of benefits. However, it is important to be aware of the potential drawbacks before making a purchase.

Is Tempur-Pedic foam better than other brand foam?

Whether or not Tempur-Pedic foam is better than other brand foam is a matter of personal preference. Some people prefer the feel and performance of Tempur-Pedic foam, while others prefer other brands of viscoelastic polyurethane foam.

There is no clear consensus on which brand of viscoelastic polyurethane foam is the best. However, Tempur-Pedic is one of the most popular and well-respected brands in the industry.

If you are considering purchasing a mattress or pillow with viscoelastic polyurethane foam, it is important to do your research and compare different brands to find the one that is right for you.
