Avocado’s Latex Mattress is an all-latex alternative to the brand’s coil-based Green Mattress. Our original review covered an older, firm all-Dunlop version. Avocado now describes a revised mattress combining Dunlop and Talalay latex, so our original impressions are useful context rather than a direct test of the current build.
My experience with the original Avocado Latex
The mattress I reviewed was the firmest Avocado model in the lineup at the time. Rather than sinking deeply, I felt more on top of its responsive latex. The hand-tufted surface had visible peaks and valleys, but they felt less pronounced when I lay on it than they looked in the photo.
I noticed relatively little motion transfer on the original sample even though the latex had a quick response. That is my impression of that mattress, not a promise of zero motion transfer or a measured result for the newer version.

Delivery and unboxing
The older mattress was heavy and unwieldy once opened. I recommended getting the box into the bedroom before opening it or arranging help with setup. The original review noted a latex scent on opening; sensitivity to odors varies, and the presence or absence of an odor does not by itself establish safety.

Who might like it?
Back and stomach sleepers: The original firmer surface may appeal to people who prefer less sink. The current model’s feel may differ, so try your usual position and check comfort at the hips and lower back.
Side sleepers: A firm latex surface may not provide enough cushioning for everyone’s shoulder and hip. Consider a softer configuration or topper only after checking feel and return terms.
Combination sleepers: Latex responds quickly, which may make changing position easier than on slow memory foam. Our original sample supported an on-top feel.
Latex vs. Avocado Green hybrid
The Latex Mattress has no springs; the Green Mattress is a latex-and-coil hybrid. An all-latex core and a spring core can produce different bounce, motion and edge feel even when both have latex near the surface. Compare the exact firmness and version, and test both if possible. Motion, temperature and moving the bed
Our original sample controlled movement fairly well, but every couple is different. Latex can be responsive without eliminating motion. The original review also showed perforations in the latex; airflow, bedding and room conditions influence temperature, so we do not claim a measured overnight cooling result.
Latex mattresses can be heavy. Confirm the weight for your size and arrange help for delivery, rotation or relocation.
Price, trial and warranty
Avocado currently lists a one-year trial and a 25-year limited warranty for its Latex Mattress.
