Best for shoppers deciding between traditional memory foam and an entry hybrid. This is a specification-based comparison; no new physical tests are claimed.

Editorial note: This is a model-specification and buying guide based on manufacturer information, not a claim of new hands-on testing.

TEMPUR-Adapt is the entry point to Tempur-Pedic’s Adapt collection. It has an 11-inch profile and cool-to-the-touch cover, with Medium all-foam or Medium Hybrid constructions. The Hybrid combines TEMPUR material with individually wrapped springs for a more responsive feel and added edge support.

Who should consider Adapt?

The Medium foam appeals to shoppers looking for slower, contouring memory-foam comfort and motion absorption. The Medium Hybrid is worth comparing for couples, combination sleepers and people who prefer easier movement. Firmness preferences are personal: neither construction is automatically better for back pain.

These are manufacturer specifications and construction-based expectations, not side-by-side measurements. Check the precise size and generation at the manufacturer’s Adapt collection; the brand also sells previous-generation closeouts with different terms.

How to choose for your sleep style

  • Side sleepers: Compare shoulder and hip pressure in both versions for at least several minutes. Medium is the only standard Adapt feel; consider ProAdapt Soft if neither Adapt gives enough cushioning.
  • Back sleepers: Check that the lower back feels supported after settling and that the hips do not sink uncomfortably. Compare both versions because “Medium” need not feel identical across builds.
  • Stomach sleepers: Check for excessive midsection sink. If Medium feels too yielding, compare ProAdapt Firm rather than assuming the spring version will solve it.
  • Combination sleepers: Roll between your usual positions and sit up from the edge. The brand says the hybrid’s springs can make movement easier, but your experience depends on the comfort layers and your body.
  • Couples: Have one partner turn while the other lies still, then try sleeping near the edge. Foam may damp movement, but we have not measured this particular model’s motion transfer or edge compression.

Cooling, durability, and setup

The cover is described as cool to the touch; that first sensation does not establish an overnight temperature difference. Sheets, a protector, room temperature and how deeply you sink all affect warmth. Tempur-Pedic markets its Breeze line for more extensive cooling; compare the actual feel and price before upgrading. We have no controlled cooling result for these exact Adapt versions.

Use an approved, supportive base and check the manufacturer’s requirements before using an existing frame or adjustable base. An 11-inch mattress plus your foundation and frame determines the final bed height. Ask the seller about delivery access and old-bed removal. A 10-year limited warranty covers qualifying defects, not a guarantee that your preferred feel will remain unchanged.

Pros and cons

  • Pros: Two constructions at the entry point of the Adapt line, a contouring memory-foam surface, and a lower profile than ProAdapt or LuxeAdapt.
  • Cons: Only Medium and Medium Hybrid in the current Adapt selection; slow-moving foam is not for everyone, and the cool-touch cover is not proof of all-night cooling. Neither version has a new Yawnder instrument score in this guide.

Adapt vs ProAdapt

ProAdapt moves to a 12-inch profile, adds more advanced pressure-relief material and offers Soft, Medium, Medium Hybrid and Firm choices. Its value depends on whether the additional comfort options justify its higher price. See our ProAdapt firmness guide for the available feels.

Adapt vs LuxeAdapt and Breeze

LuxeAdapt adds a 13-inch profile and zoned ergonomic support. ProBreeze and LuxeBreeze emphasize temperature management. Cooling performance depends on the whole sleep setup and the specific comparison used in each brand claim.

Alternatives, availability and policies

Costco also sells a separate Supreme Medium Hybrid; compare its exact model and retailer terms rather than assuming it matches Adapt.

Manufacturer-direct purchase: Tempur-Pedic lists a 90-night trial and asks customers to sleep on the mattress for at least 30 nights. Its return policy says the refund is reduced by a return shipping fee; confirm the current fee and the deadline with the brand. Closeout mattresses are excluded from its trial and cannot be returned or exchanged, while foundations and power bases are generally nonreturnable. Retailer purchases follow that retailer’s policy; for a Yawnder order, check the terms on the actual order. The manufacturer advertises white-glove delivery on qualifying mattresses, including setup and removal of the old mattress and box spring on request; confirm the service for your order.

Price context: On October 29, 2026, Tempur-Pedic advertised queen Adapt collection mattresses starting at $2,299. Verify the price of the exact foam or hybrid version, including any foundation and delivery charges; the starting price does not establish that both cost the same.
