Tested by Ben: The Bottom Line

I test hundreds of beds. Many mattresses under $1,000 have weak support. The Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid is different. They own their factory in Arizona. This cuts out the middleman and keeps costs low.

You get a high-end, American-made bed for a great price. Both the standard and Pillow Top models use durable coils. It is a top choice for shoppers who want quality without overpaying.

Sleep Position Lightweight (< 130 lbs) Average (130 - 230 lbs) Heavyweight (230+ lbs)

Original vs. Pillow Top: Which Should You Buy?

There are two versions of this mattress. Both offer three firmness levels. Their height and feel are different.

The Original Signature Hybrid

This bed is 11.5 inches tall. It has a quilted top and bouncy TitanFlex™ foam. It feels responsive and is easy to move on. It is great for people who change positions at night.

The Signature Pillow Top (Upgrade)

This model is 13.25 inches tall. It adds a plush Cloud Pillow Top. This provides better pressure relief for hips and shoulders. It feels like a luxury hotel bed. Side sleepers should choose this upgrade.

Long-Term Durability: My 3-Year Opinion

I have owned the standard Signature Hybrid for three years. It stays in our guest room. My son Isaac jumps and wrestles on it often. I also slept on the Pillow Top version for six months.

The Verdict: The Ascension® coils are very strong. I see no sagging in the middle of the bed. The edge support is good for sleeping. It might dip slightly if you sit on the very corner. Overall, the quality is much higher than the price suggests.

🤓 The Geeky Stuff: Inside the Mattress

The materials inside this bed are high quality. They are built to last and perform well.

Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid Cover Close Up

TitanFlex™ Comfort Foam

This bed uses TitanFlex™ foam. It is better than memory foam because it does not trap heat. It contours to your body but bounces back fast. You will not feel stuck when you try to roll over.

Ascension® Coil Core & Edge Support

The bed has up to 961 coils. Each coil is wrapped in fabric. This stops motion from moving across the bed. Strong coils around the edges keep you feeling safe near the side.

Bounce & Motion Transfer Test

A good bed should stop you from feeling a partner move. It should also have some bounce. We tested how this mattress handles movement.

Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid Bounce and Motion Transfer Test
The Verdict: The coils and foam work well together. The bed stops sharp movements but stays bouncy. This makes it easy to change positions.

The Sinkage Lab Test

We used a 14 lb ball to see how much the Medium model sinks.

Brooklyn Bedding Signature Sinkage Test
Result: ~2.5 Inches of Sinkage.
This is perfect for a Medium feel. The top layers cushion your body, but the coils keep you supported.

Pros & Cons

✅ The Good

  • Great Price: Buying from the factory saves you money.
  • Options: Choose from three firmness levels and two heights.
  • Easy Movement: The foam reacts fast so you don't feel stuck.
  • Made in USA: Built in Phoenix, Arizona.

❌ The Bad

  • Edge Support: The Original model is good, but not the firmest.
  • Simple Look: The standard model looks basic. The Pillow Top looks much better.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a box spring?
No. You can use a solid platform or a slatted base. Make sure slats are no more than 4 inches apart. Do not use an old box spring with bouncy coils. It can hurt your back and damage the mattress.
Does it sleep hot?
No. This bed breathes well. The 8-inch coils let air flow through. The TitanFlex foam does not trap heat like old memory foam. Most people will find it stays cool all night.
How long does it take to expand?
It takes shape in a few minutes. You can sleep on it the first night. Any "new bed" smell usually goes away in 24 to 48 hours. It takes about two days to reach its full firmness.
Can I try it in person?
Yes. If you are in Southern California, visit our showroom at 1441 Encinitas Blvd. You can test both versions of the Signature Hybrid.
