YAWNDER BUYING COMPARISON · OCTOBER 2026
Disclosure: Yawnder sells both mattresses. This guide combines manufacturer specifications with Yawnder’s existing Elite Hybrid review. The Elite Ultra is covered using published specifications, not an invented test score; prices and configurations can change.
Quick verdict: pay for the features you want
Choose the Bear Elite Hybrid if you want a zoned foam-and-coil hybrid with three firmness options and would rather decide whether to add cooling. Consider the Elite Ultra Hybrid if you want Bear’s CoolForce layer included and are interested in the added microcoil comfort layer.
Both offer Soft, Medium and Firm options. The Ultra’s extra features do not guarantee that it will feel better or keep every sleeper cooler. Compare the same size and firmness—and the Elite Hybrid with and without its cooling upgrade—before deciding.
Bear Elite Hybrid vs Elite Ultra: key differences

What does the Ultra add?
Bear says both models use copper-infused memory foam and a five-zone coil support core. The Ultra adds a microcoil comfort layer and includes the CoolForce layer that Bear offers as an upgrade on the Elite Hybrid. Bear lists the Ultra at 15 inches versus 14 inches for the Elite Hybrid.
Those differences describe the build. They do not establish which surface is more comfortable for you, how much cooler you will sleep or how long either mattress will last. Your selected firmness and foundation matter too.
Firmness and sleep position
Both are offered in Soft, Medium and Firm. These labels are useful starting points, but a Medium in one model need not feel identical to Medium in the other. Side sleepers can check whether their shoulders and hips have enough cushioning; back and stomach sleepers can compare how stable their midsection feels.
If possible, try the precise model and firmness for several minutes in your normal position, then turn over and sit at the edge. Our showroom checklist gives you a practical way to compare.
Cooling: included versus optional
Bear identifies CoolForce as an included feature on the Ultra and an optional add-on on the Elite Hybrid. When comparing prices, check the Elite Hybrid both ways: without the upgrade, and with the cooling option selected. Verify the cover name and materials for the exact listing, as product configurations can change.
A cool-to-the-touch material is not a promise of a particular overnight temperature. Room temperature, sheets, protectors and individual preference all affect the result. We have not established a controlled head-to-head cooling result for these two exact builds.
Motion, edge support and height
Both use wrapped coils, foam and zoned support; the Ultra adds microcoils. Construction alone does not tell you how much partner movement you will feel. Try turning and getting out of bed while your partner lies on the other side, and sit on the edge you would use at home.
The one-inch manufacturer height difference can affect fitted-sheet depth and overall bed height. Measure the entire setup from the floor to the mattress surface, especially if you use an adjustable base. See how to measure bed height.
What Yawnder has tested
Ben has personally tried the Elite Hybrid in the showroom. Yawnder’s Elite Hybrid review and Bear lineup guide document available evidence. The cited lineup labels the Elite Ultra as manufacturer-specification coverage without a standardized Yawnder score; we do not transfer the Elite Hybrid score to it.
Price, trial and delivery
Check the live Elite Hybrid and Elite Ultra listings for the same size and firmness. Add the Elite Hybrid cooling upgrade if you want it, then compare delivery, setup and tax. Promotions change, so the difference at checkout matters more than a crossed-out list price.
When purchasing from Yawnder, review the applicable return terms, including the break-in period, fees and exclusions. Bear’s direct-order trial can differ from a retailer’s policy. A mattress warranty is separate from a comfort trial.
Who should consider each?
- Elite Hybrid: You want the three firmness choices and prefer to choose whether the cooling upgrade is worth its price.
- Elite Ultra: You want CoolForce included and are interested in the microcoil layer and taller construction.
- Compare carefully: You share the bed, have a strict height limit, or are deciding between two firmness options.
