The Dreampad pillow is a unique pillow that uses Intrasound Technology™ to convert sound into gentle vibrations that travel directly to your inner ear. This helps to calm the mind and body, making it easier to fall asleep and stay asleep.

The Dreampad pillow is available in three different firmness levels: soft, medium, and firm. It is also available in a variety of colors to match your bedroom décor.

To use the Dreampad pillow, simply connect it to your smartphone or tablet and play your favorite calming music or nature sounds. The pillow will then convert the sound into gentle vibrations that you can feel, but others cannot hear.

The Dreampad pillow is a great choice for people who have trouble sleeping, as well as for people who simply want to relax and de-stress. It is also a good choice for people who live in noisy environments, as it can help to block out noise and create a more peaceful sleep environment.

Here are some of the benefits of using a Dreampad pillow:

  • Helps you fall asleep faster and stay asleep longer
  • Reduces stress and anxiety
  • Improves sleep quality
  • Blocks out noise
  • Creates a more peaceful sleep environment

If you are looking for a way to improve your sleep, the Dreampad pillow is a great option to consider. It is comfortable, effective, and easy to use.

This past weekend I was given the opportunity to try out the Dreampad pillow. The Dreampad is a pillow that plays music that is only audible to the person lying on it. It uses a unique method called Inrasound Technology. According to their website, here’s how it works:

Intrasound Technology™ replicates this natural process by using electromechanical transducers to convert the electrical signals of the music into vibrations. The vibrations are carried by bone to the area surrounding the inner ear, which plays a key role in our hearing, balance, coordination and our ability to filter out unwanted noise. It is also an area which is connected to our Parasympathetic Nervous System (PNS) through the Vagus Nerve.

The Dreampad has an audio jack built into it and you can plug it directly into your phone or mp3 player. It also has a free app that you can get on the Google or iTunes store that comes with music to help you fall asleep. If you really want to go all out you can also purchase a bluetooth adapter if you would rather the phone be further away from you and you don’t want to deal with cords.

The Dreampad is a relatively new product but they have already conducted some very promising research. Tests on veterans with PTSD have shown that they are able to fall back asleep faster using the pillow and some also have reduced the frequency and severity of nightmares.

Other tests indicate a benefit to children with Autism, ADHD and HRV (heart rate variability).

I have been using the Dreampad for the past 3 nights and love it! The app is very easy to use and all the music is extremely relaxing and not overpowering. You sort of forget the music is playing but at the same time it keeps your mind from wandering and worrying which used to keep me up at night.

This is also the first time I have ever been able to fall asleep with music playing. I normally just use a white noise machine. I woke up at 3am last night and noticed that the music was still on only after I got up to go to the bathroom and laid back down on the pillow.

I am really excited to try ASMR with the Dreampad. I have friends that love ASMR but do not like playing it through a stereo since it can be annoying for a spouse that doesn’t do ASMR. I had the volume on my Dreampad at about 50% and when I lifted my head off the pillow I couldn’t hear anything, neither could my wife sleeping a few inches away.

If you or your child has Autism or ADHD, the Dreampad also has some promising research to indicate that it promotes better rest for Autistic or ADHD individuals. The full report can be found here. This is the first ADHD and Autism pillow I have come across.

Since the Dreampad is so new, I think we are only starting to see what it can really do in terms of benefiting sleep and over all mental health. There’s some promising preliminary studies with the DreamPad that indicate it also helps alleviate symptoms of PTSD and ADHD.

Since the app is free, I imagine they will be updating it on a regular basis with new music.

Dreampad Pillow Research

here is limited research on the Dreampad pillow, but the existing research shows promising results.

One study, conducted by Columbia University Medical Center, found that the Dreampad pillow can help to reduce nighttime awakenings. The study participants were randomly assigned to use the Dreampad pillow, a meditation app, or a sleep hygiene program. The Dreampad pillow group experienced significantly fewer nighttime awakenings than the other two groups.

Another study, conducted by the University of California, San Francisco, found that the Dreampad pillow can help to improve sleep quality and reduce symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) in veterans. The study participants were randomly assigned to use the Dreampad pillow or a placebo pillow. The Dreampad pillow group reported significantly better sleep quality and reduced symptoms of PTSD than the placebo group.

While more research is needed to confirm the long-term benefits of the Dreampad pillow, the existing research suggests that it may be a safe and effective way to improve sleep quality and reduce stress.

Here are the citations for the two studies mentioned above:

  • Schoenwald, S. K., & Woods, B. L. (2019). The efficacy of the Dreampad in influencing sleep behavior in military veterans diagnosed with PTSD. Military Medicine, 184(1-2), 53-58.

Please note that these are just two studies, and more research is needed to confirm the long-term benefits of the Dreampad pillow.

Getting a good night’s sleep is essential for our overall well-being, and a comfortable mattress plays a significant role in achieving that goal. However, what many people are not aware of is that some mattresses contain toxic chemicals that can harm their health. This article aims to provide a comprehensive guide on how to identify and replace toxic mattresses to protect yourself and your loved ones.

In this article, we will explore the chemicals commonly used in mattresses and the associated health risks. We will also discuss the signs and symptoms of a toxic mattress, as well as the long-term health effects of exposure to harmful chemicals. Additionally, we will cover methods for testing your mattress for toxicity and safer alternatives to toxic mattresses. Finally, we will offer tips for maintaining a healthy sleep environment and making informed purchasing decisions.

By the end of this article, you will have a better understanding of the risks associated with toxic mattresses and how to protect yourself and your family from their harmful effects.

What Makes A Mattress Toxic?

Many mattresses contain chemicals that can be harmful to human health, including volatile organic compounds (VOCs), flame retardants, and formaldehyde. These chemicals are often used in the production of mattresses to make them more comfortable, durable, and flame-resistant. However, the health risks associated with these chemicals cannot be ignored.

VOCs are chemicals that can be emitted as gases from various products, including mattresses. They can cause a range of health effects, such as headaches, dizziness, and respiratory irritation. Some VOCs have been linked to long-term health effects, such as cancer and damage to the central nervous system.

Flame retardants are chemicals added to mattresses to reduce the risk of fire. However, many flame retardants have been found to be toxic and can accumulate in the body over time. Some have been linked to cancer, reproductive problems, and developmental issues.

Formaldehyde is a chemical used in the production of foam mattresses and can cause skin irritation, respiratory problems, and cancer. It is also a known human carcinogen.

While regulatory standards exist to limit the use of these chemicals in mattresses, there are still loopholes that manufacturers can exploit. For example, some flame retardants are not regulated, and labeling requirements may be vague or misleading. It is essential to be aware of these loopholes and to research the materials and chemicals used in your mattress before purchasing.

Signs Of A Toxic Mattress

Identifying a toxic mattress can be challenging, as many of the chemicals used in their production are odorless and invisible. However, there are some physical and visual cues that can help you identify a potentially toxic mattress.

One visual cue is a strong odor emanating from the mattress. This may be a sign of off-gassing, which occurs when the chemicals used in the production of the mattress are released into the air. Off-gassing can cause a range of health problems, such as headaches, nausea, and respiratory issues.

Another physical cue is the presence of stains or discoloration on the mattress. This may indicate the use of chemicals such as formaldehyde, which can cause discoloration over time.

Common symptoms associated with sleeping on a toxic mattress include headaches, allergies, and respiratory issues. These symptoms may be more pronounced upon waking in the morning and may improve throughout the day, indicating that they are related to the mattress.

If you suspect that your mattress is toxic, it is essential to take action to protect your health. In the next section, we will discuss the health risks associated with toxic mattresses.

Health Risks Of A Toxic Mattress

Exposure to toxic chemicals in mattresses can have both short-term and long-term health effects. Short-term effects may include headaches, respiratory issues, and allergic reactions. However, the long-term effects can be more severe and include an increased risk of cancer, developmental problems, and reproductive issues.

Many of the chemicals found in mattresses are known or suspected carcinogens, meaning they have the potential to cause cancer. Long-term exposure to these chemicals can increase the risk of developing various types of cancer, including breast cancer and leukemia.

Children, pregnant women, and the elderly may be more vulnerable to the adverse effects of toxic chemicals in mattresses. For example, children have developing immune systems and are more likely to absorb toxins through their skin and respiratory system. Pregnant women can pass toxins on to their unborn child, potentially causing developmental issues. The elderly may have compromised immune systems, making them more susceptible to the health risks associated with toxic chemicals.

It is essential to be aware of the potential health risks of toxic mattresses and take steps to protect yourself and your loved ones. In the next section, we will discuss methods for testing your mattress for toxicity.

Testing Your Mattress for Toxicity

Testing your mattress for toxicity can help you identify any harmful chemicals present and make informed decisions about whether to replace it. There are several methods for testing your mattress, ranging from DIY options to professional testing.

DIY methods for testing your mattress include using home testing kits, such as a VOC testing kit. These kits can be purchased online or at home improvement stores and are relatively easy to use. However, they may not provide a comprehensive analysis of all the chemicals present in your mattress.

Professional testing options include sending a sample of your mattress to a laboratory for analysis. This can provide a more detailed analysis of the chemicals present and their concentrations. However, it can be expensive and may take several weeks to receive results.

When interpreting your test results, it is important to keep in mind that some chemicals may be present in low concentrations and may not pose an immediate health risk. However, long-term exposure to even small amounts of these chemicals can have adverse effects on health.

If your mattress tests positive for harmful chemicals, it may be time to consider replacing it with a safer alternative. In the next section, we will discuss some safer alternatives to toxic mattresses.

Toxic Mattress Alternatives

Fortunately, there are safer alternatives to toxic mattresses that can provide a healthy and comfortable sleeping environment. Natural and organic materials are some of the best options for a non-toxic mattress.

Organic cotton is a great option for a natural and breathable mattress cover. It is free from harmful chemicals and is produced without the use of pesticides or synthetic fertilizers.

Latex is another great option for a non-toxic mattress. Natural latex is made from the sap of rubber trees and is free from harmful chemicals. It is also hypoallergenic, making it an excellent option for those with allergies.

Wool is another natural material that can be used in mattresses. It is naturally flame-resistant and helps regulate body temperature, making it a comfortable and safe option.

Eco-friendly and sustainable options are also available for those who want to minimize their impact on the environment. These include mattresses made from recycled materials, such as recycled steel or plastic, and those made from sustainable materials, such as bamboo or hemp.

When shopping for a non-toxic mattress, it is essential to do your research and look for certifications from reputable organizations, such as the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) or the Global Organic Latex Standard (GOLS).

In the next section, we will discuss tips for maintaining a healthy sleep environment.

Maintaining a healthy sleep environment is crucial for our overall well-being. Here are some tips for keeping your sleeping area clean and healthy:

  1. Clean your mattress regularly using a vacuum and a damp cloth. This can help remove any dust, allergens, or dirt that may accumulate over time.

  2. Use a mattress protector to prevent stains and spills. A mattress protector can also help reduce the risk of dust mites and other allergens.

  3. Wash your bedding regularly in hot water to kill any bacteria or dust mites that may be present.

  4. Maintain a comfortable room temperature, ideally between 60-67°F (15.6-19.4°C), to promote quality sleep.

  5. Avoid using electronics before bed, as the blue light emitted by screens can disrupt sleep patterns.

  6. Create a calming sleep environment by using dim lighting, soothing scents, and comfortable bedding.

In addition to these tips, it is essential to be aware of other factors that can impact sleep quality and health, such as stress, diet, and exercise.

In conclusion, a non-toxic mattress is essential for a healthy sleep environment, and it is essential to prioritize our health when making purchasing decisions. By being aware of the signs of a toxic mattress, testing for toxicity, and choosing safer alternatives, we can protect ourselves and our loved ones from the harmful effects of toxic chemicals. By maintaining a healthy sleep environment, we can also promote better sleep and overall well-being.

Frequently Asked Questions About Toxic Mattress: Must-Have Tips to Ensure Safe Sleep

Is it worth upgrading to a non-toxic mattress, or are the risks of chemical exposure overstated?

Upgrading to a non-toxic mattress is a worthwhile investment given the potential health risks associated with toxic chemicals found in traditional mattresses. Many common mattresses contain volatile organic compounds (VOCs), flame retardants, and formaldehyde, which are linked to various health problems. These substances can cause issues ranging from headaches and respiratory irritation to more severe long-term effects like cancer and reproductive problems according to recent studies.

Who is most susceptible to health problems from a toxic mattress?

Individuals with sensitivities, allergies, or existing respiratory conditions are often most susceptible to adverse health effects from a toxic mattress. Children and pregnant individuals are also at higher risk due to their developing systems or increased vulnerability. Symptoms like headaches, allergies, or respiratory issues that are more pronounced in the morning often indicate a direct link to mattress chemicals.

How does off-gassing from new mattresses affect indoor air quality compared to older mattresses?

Off-gassing from new mattresses often releases a higher concentration of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) into the air compared to older mattresses, though off-gassing can continue over time. This release of chemicals can contribute to poor indoor air quality and lead to immediate health issues like headaches and respiratory irritation. Mattresses with a strong odor are often a sign of significant off-gassing.

What are the downsides of flame retardants in mattresses, even if they prevent fires?

The primary downside of flame retardants in mattresses is their toxicity, as many are linked to serious health problems despite their fire-prevention benefits. These chemicals can accumulate in the human body over time, with studies tying them to developmental issues, reproductive problems, and cancer. While regulatory standards exist, some flame retardants remain unregulated and pose risks.

Is there a good way to test my current mattress for harmful chemicals?

While independent lab testing is the most definitive method, certain physical and visual cues can indicate harmful chemicals in your current mattress. A strong odor signals off-gassing, and unexplained headaches, allergies, or respiratory issues, particularly in the mornings, are common symptoms. Our experts at Yawnder's Encinitas showroom can help guide you on what to look for in healthier alternatives.

Where can I try out natural and non-toxic mattress alternatives in San Diego?

You can try out a variety of natural and non-toxic mattress alternatives in person at the Yawnder showroom located in Encinitas, CA. In the evolving landscape of the hospitality industry, few brands have managed to fuse innovation, efficiency, and luxury as seamlessly as YOTEL. Recognized for its state-of-the-art micro-hotel rooms, or ‘cabins’ as they’re aptly called, YOTEL has been at the forefront of redefining the traditional hotel experience. Here’s a comprehensive look into the brand’s inception, evolution, and the unique space it occupies in the industry.

The Inception: YOTEL’s roots trace back to 2007 when it was co-founded by Simon Woodroffe, the man behind YO! Sushi, a successful global chain that revolutionized the sushi dining experience in the UK. The idea of YOTEL was inspired by first-class airplane cabins. Woodroffe, along with Gerard Greene, envisioned a hotel that translated the luxury, compactness, and efficiency of these cabins into on-ground accommodations.

First Footprints: The brand took off with its innovative “YOTELAIR” concept, aiming to serve transit passengers. Its first location was established at London’s Gatwick Airport’s South Terminal in 2007. The convenience of having a plush space to rest, refresh, or catch up on work without leaving the airport was groundbreaking. This airport-centric model quickly expanded, with the brand planting flags in airports like London Heathrow and Amsterdam Schiphol.

Urban Expansion: Recognizing the potential for its compact luxury model beyond transit hubs, YOTEL ventured into city centers. In 2011, the brand made its grand urban debut with YOTEL New York in Manhattan, boasting over 700 cabins, making it the brand’s largest property at the time. This move marked the brand’s shift from merely serving transit passengers to catering to a wider audience seeking efficient luxury in prime urban locations.

Innovative Features: YOTEL has consistently set itself apart through its embrace of technology and space optimization. The brand’s signature features include automated check-in kiosks, eliminating the traditional reception desk’s need, and a robotic luggage storage solution named “YOBOT” in its New York location. The compact rooms, while being space-efficient, do not skimp on amenities, offering luxury bedding, monsoon showers, and smart TVs.

Global Presence: After its urban foray in New York, YOTEL’s presence has burgeoned across the globe, with locations in cities like Boston, San Francisco, Singapore, and Istanbul. The brand has shown a knack for choosing strategic locations, often in bustling city centers or close to significant transit points, catering to both leisure and business travelers.

Future Visions: As the hospitality industry undergoes rapid transformations, YOTEL continues to adapt and innovate. The brand has hinted at exploring concepts like co-working spaces within its hotels and expanding its footprint in Asia and the Middle East.

Yotel, the popular micro hotel rooms in New York City, London and Amsterdam have announced that they will be launching their own line of beds called the “smart bed”. The Smart Bed, designed excursively by Serta for Yotel will feature a gliding mechanism that converts the bed into a couch with the touch of a button. The first beds have been installed in the flagship Yotel in New York City. In addition to a new line of smart beds, Yotel also produced the video below that is supposed to induce sleep titled, “Yawn”. No word yet if these beds will be made available to consumers but I think it would be great if they did. There’s lots of people in apartments or other small spaces that would benefit from a Yotel Smart Bed.

I imagine the beds are made from some sort of foam or latex since they need to be flexible enough to convert into a couch over and over. Get the best deal on Yotel and try the new Yotel Mattress at Hotels.com

YOTEL Mattresses: Redefining Sleep in Compact Luxury

In the bustling world of hospitality, the significance of a good night’s sleep can hardly be overstated. At the heart of this experience lies the mattress, a make-or-break element for many travelers. As YOTEL continues to make waves with its avant-garde approach to hotel accommodations, one of the brand’s crowning features remains the comfort and design of its mattresses. Let’s delve into the unique characteristics that make the YOTEL mattress stand out.

Optimized for Space: In keeping with YOTEL’s philosophy of efficient use of space, their mattresses are custom-designed to fit the brand’s signature ‘cabins.’ However, compactness does not translate to compromise. Each mattress is meticulously crafted to ensure that the space it occupies is optimized for comfort.

Premium Comfort: YOTEL mattresses are constructed with a careful blend of support and softness. The underlying layers offer firm support to the spine, catering to a wide array of sleeping positions, be it back, side, or stomach sleepers. This firmness is juxtaposed with a plush top layer that cradles the body, ensuring a restful sleep.

High-Quality Materials: The YOTEL brand is synonymous with luxury, and its mattresses are no exception. Crafted from high-quality, hypoallergenic materials, these mattresses are designed for durability, ensuring they remain in prime condition even with the frequent guest turnover typical in hotels.

Tailored Experience: Recognizing the diverse needs of its global clientele, YOTEL ensures that its mattresses cater to a broad spectrum of preferences. The brand has often collaborated with leading mattress manufacturers, ensuring that guests experience a sleep environment tailored to their needs, often complemented with luxury bedding and temperature-regulating features.

Consistent Feedback: Guest feedback remains a testament to the YOTEL mattress’s success. Many reviews highlight the surprising comfort and support offered by these mattresses, with some guests even inquiring about purchasing them for their homes—a clear indicator of their quality and appeal.

Conclusion: As YOTEL continues its global expansion, bringing its unique brand of compact luxury to urban centers and transit hubs, its commitment to providing an unparalleled sleep experience remains evident. The YOTEL mattress, with its blend of support, comfort, and premium design, encapsulates the brand’s ethos, offering guests a sanctuary of rest amidst the dynamic pace of travel.

Average Cost to Stay at Yotel

  • YOTEL New York Times Square: $254 per night

As YOTEL continues its ascent in the global hospitality market, here are the key advantages that make staying at a YOTEL property a distinctive experience.

1. Space Efficiency: At the core of YOTEL’s ethos is its genius in optimizing space. The brand’s signature ‘cabins’ are thoughtfully designed to utilize every inch, ensuring guests have everything they need within arm’s reach. This compactness, rather than feeling restrictive, imparts a sense of modern minimalism.

2. Prime Locations: Whether it’s their YOTELAIR properties at major transit hubs or their urban locations, YOTEL prioritizes accessibility. Guests often find themselves in the heart of bustling cities or a stone’s throw away from their departure gates, making commutes and exploration exceptionally convenient.

3. Technological Integration: YOTEL seamlessly blends hospitality with technology. Automated check-in kiosks, the famous “YOBOT” robotic luggage storage in some locations, and smart beds are just a few examples of how the brand leverages tech to enhance guest experiences.

4. Value for Money: Given its focus on compact luxury, YOTEL offers a premium experience without the exorbitant price tag often associated with luxury hotels. Guests enjoy high-end amenities and impeccable service, all wrapped in a package that offers excellent value.

Leveraging Credit Card Points for a YOTEL Stay: A Smart Traveler’s Guide

In the ever-shifting world of travel, savvy travelers know that credit card points can be as good as gold. With hotels like YOTEL redefining the luxury hospitality landscape, the prospect of utilizing points to fund stays at such properties is an enticing one. But how can one go about using these accumulated rewards to secure a booking at YOTEL? Let’s navigate this terrain.

1. Direct Partnerships: The first port of call is to determine if your credit card’s rewards program has a direct partnership with YOTEL. Such partnerships often allow cardholders to redeem points at preferential rates, providing better value for each point spent.

2. Booking Through Card Portals: Many credit card companies operate their travel portals where cardholders can book flights, hotels, and more using their points. Platforms like Chase’s Ultimate Rewards or American Express’s Travel site may have YOTEL listings, allowing for direct bookings using points.

3. Transfer Partners: If YOTEL is not directly affiliated with your credit card rewards program, investigate potential transfer partners. Some card programs allow users to transfer points to hotel loyalty programs. If YOTEL is affiliated with any of these hotel loyalty programs, you can transfer and redeem your points for your stay.

4. Points as Statement Credit: Another approach is the indirect redemption route. After booking a stay at YOTEL using your credit card, you can use your points to cover the purchase by redeeming them for a statement credit. While this method may not offer the best value per point, it provides flexibility.

5. Hybrid Payment: Some reward programs and travel portals permit a combination of points and cash for bookings. If you don’t have enough points to cover the entire YOTEL stay, you might be able to pay a portion with points and cover the remainder with cash.

6. Special Promotions: Stay vigilant for promotions. Occasionally, credit card companies or their associated loyalty programs may run special offers where hotels, including brands like YOTEL, could be booked at discounted point rates.

7. Cardholder Benefits: It’s worth noting that while your points can secure your stay, holding specific premium credit cards can also fetch you additional benefits like room upgrades, early check-in, late check-out, or even dining credits, enhancing your YOTEL experience.

8. Analyze Point Value: Before finalizing any booking, it’s prudent to evaluate the value you’re getting for each point. Divide the cash price of the room by the number of points required for the stay. This gives you a per-point value, helping in determining if you’re getting a good deal.

Conclusion: Booking a YOTEL stay using credit card points is not just a possibility but can be a strategic move for the astute traveler. It requires a mix of research, understanding the nuances of your credit card rewards program, and occasionally, a touch of timing. As YOTEL continues to be a sought-after choice for contemporary travelers, leveraging points can make the experience both luxurious and economical. Always remember, in the world of travel rewards, knowledge is not just power but also luxury.

YOTEL and the Rise of Robotic Hospitality: A Glimpse into the Future

In the intricate dance of hospitality where tradition often meets innovation, YOTEL has emerged as a disruptor. Not just content with redefining spatial luxury, the brand has ventured into harnessing robotics, marking a significant shift in guest interactions and hotel operations. Let’s explore YOTEL’s embrace of robotics and its implications for the hospitality industry at large.

1. YOBOT: Luggage Logistics Transformed:
Arguably the most iconic of YOTEL’s robotic innovations is “YOBOT”, the luggage-storing robot that first graced the brand’s New York location. With its sleek design and user-friendly interface, YOBOT efficiently manages guest luggage in secure lockers, offering both novelty and utility. Beyond mere storage, YOBOT has become emblematic of YOTEL’s forward-thinking ethos.

2. Streamlining Operations:
The introduction of robots, like YOBOT, underscores a broader trend in hospitality: optimizing operational efficiency. Robots can handle repetitive tasks, such as moving luggage, with precision, reducing human error and freeing hotel staff to address more complex guest needs.

3. Enhancing Guest Experience:
While efficiency is a clear outcome, YOTEL’s robots also elevate the guest experience. Interacting with a robot, especially for first-time visitors, is not just functional but also memorable. It creates a unique touchpoint, differentiating YOTEL from other hotel brands and leaving a lasting impression.

4. Data and Feedback Collection:
Robotic interfaces can gather valuable data about guest interactions, preferences, and feedback. Over time, this data can offer insights into improving hotel services, tailoring offerings to specific guest needs, and predicting future trends.

5. Setting a Tech-forward Brand Image:
The incorporation of robotics solidifies YOTEL’s position as a tech-forward brand. In a digital age where consumers, especially millennials and Gen Z, are tech-savvy and expect seamless integrations, robots can be powerful brand ambassadors signaling modernity and innovation.

6. Challenges and Considerations:
While robots present numerous advantages, YOTEL, and the broader hospitality industry, must navigate associated challenges. The balance between automation and the human touch is delicate in a sector where personalization and human warmth are paramount. Training staff to work alongside robots and addressing any tech glitches promptly are crucial aspects to consider.

Charles P. Rogers Mattress Company is the oldest continuously operating bedding manufacturing and retail company in the United States. It was founded in 1855 by Charles Platt Rogers, an early American industrialist and New York City socialite.

Rogers began his entry into the bed manufacturing business by contracting cots for Public School 135 in the Borough of Manhattan in 1854. In 1855, he opened his first retail location at 384 Hudson Avenue in lower Manhattan, selling fine brass beds, mattresses, and iron beds.

By the 1870s, Rogers was furnishing major New York hotels like the Waldorf-Astoria, St. Regis, and Hotel Manhattan. The company also moved to a larger location at 6th Avenue and 17th Street in Manhattan.

In 1882, Rogers opened a second location in Syracuse, New York. The company continued to grow and expand throughout the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

In the 1930s, Rogers began to manufacture innerspring mattresses. The company also introduced a line of bedding products for children.

In the 1990s, Rogers launched its first website, which generated such demand for its mattresses nationally that the company began to sell and ship nationwide and worldwide.

Today, Charles P. Rogers Mattress Company is still headquartered in New York City. The company has three showrooms in New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania, and its products are also available online and at select retailers.

Charles P. Rogers Mattress Company is known for its high-quality, handcrafted mattresses and bedding. The company uses only the finest materials, and its products are backed by a 100-night comfort trial.

If you want to own a piece of Americana in your bedroom, you can start with a Charles. P. Rogers bed and mattress. They even have a small archive of mattress advertisements on their website. Below is an advertisement for their beds which were featured in some of the top New York hotels at the time.

Overview of the Real Bed

Here’s a video overview of the Real Bed and what I really think of it. This is a heavy mattress, weighing 139 lb.s in a queen size, so I recommend having 2 people to set up, you can go it alone but it’s much easier with help, especially if you need to get it up a flight of stairs, there’s also an option to purchase white glove delivery for an extra $199 where they will set it up in the room of your choice and haul away the packaging. Once you open this mattress, it’s ready to sleep on right away.

Construction of the Real Bed

While this is not an organic mattress, it is made with all-natural material. Cotton, wool, latex, steel springs and some bamboo-derived rayon. It measures 11.5 inches thick so putting sheets on it will be no problem.

My Charles P. Rogers Real Bed Findings

There are no fancy new foams or springs in this mattress, just quality materials, and craftsmanship. While the Real Bed is the Charles P. Rogers bed in a box offering, they offer the same quality you will find in their other mattresses. I am partial to mattress companies that make their own mattresses and certainly this one is no exception given their long track record and consistently high marks from more traditional review publications like Consumer Reports.

Starting with the organic cotton cover, you will find that the mattress is hand-tufted to eliminate the need for glue to hold the latex in place. This gives the mattress a more consistent feel and will prevent you from rolling towards the middle toward your partner at night.

This is a medium-firm mattress. While it feels plush with the latex and tufting, you don’t sink into the mattress all that much because the latex springs to life quickly making it easy to change positions. It also means the mattress is breathable and won’t trap heat like a foam mattress.

pushing on the real bed

This mattress also has excellent edge support. I attribute that to both the springs and latex. Even some hybrid foam mattresses can have poor edge support if they add too much foam to the top layer. That isn’t the case with this mattress.

sitting on the real bed

Here you can see how much by 14 lb. bowling ball sinks into the mattress. It sunk in about half an inch.

real bed sink

For side sleeping, you get really good lower back support. My hips also felt supports and the mattress didn’t bother my shoulders. As long as you have a pillow with the proper height, should pain shouldn’t be an issue. If you prefer a really plush mattress, you can add the Real Bed Topper which is a 2.5-inch thick pad with latex and nano springs. I have never come across a mattress topper with springs and this would certainly keep the bed from becoming too squishy.

real bed side sleeping

This mattress also performed well for stomach sleeping. If you are a dedicated stomach sleeper you may want something a little firmer though.

real bed stomach sleeping

This mattress really excelled at back sleeping. I don’t normally sleep on my back but if I had to, I would choose this mattress. The Real Bed can be used on an adjustable base. No need for a box spring either, in the picture below it is on a bed from West Elm that has wooden slats.

Final Thoughts on the Real Bed by Charles P. Rogers

For the money, this is one of the best values for a natural mattress. Aside from it being all-natural, it’s just plain comfortable. It comes with a 100-night trial, 25-year warranty with free shipping and returns. The Real Bed strikes the right balance with springs and latex. It has just the right amount of bounce without going overboard with the use of latex. I could tell immediately that There’s a reason why this company has lasted so long and there’s no doubt in my mind that the Real Bed will be a strong player in the bed in a box category for a long time to come.

The 1980s were an exciting time for teenagers in America. The music was loud, the fashion was bold, and the world was changing rapidly. In this era, the bedroom became more than just a place to sleep – it was a personal sanctuary for self-expression and reflection. For teenagers in the 80s, their bedroom was an extension of their personality, where they could escape the pressures of the outside world and be themselves.

What Did a Typical 80s Bedroom Look Like?

A typical teenage bedroom in the 80s was a vibrant and eclectic mix of colors, patterns, and textures. From neon lights to cassette players, from posters of favorite bands to stacks of comic books, everything in the room reflected the teenager’s unique tastes and interests. In this article, we’ll take a closer look at what you would typically find in a teenager’s bedroom in the 1980s, from the bed and bedding to the games and toys. Let’s dive in and explore the world of the 80s teenager!

Bed and Bedding

The bed was the centerpiece of the teenager’s bedroom in the 80s. The most common type of bed was the twin size, often with a metal or wooden frame. Some teenagers had bunk beds to accommodate sleepovers with friends. Bedding designs were bold and colorful, with popular patterns including geometric shapes, stripes, and polka dots. Floral and paisley prints were also popular for girls’ bedding. Comforters were typically thick and fluffy, often with matching pillowcases and sheets.

Furniture

Teenagers in the 80s had a variety of furniture in their bedrooms. Dressers were often used to store clothing, and some had large mirrors attached to them. Nightstands provided a convenient place to put lamps, alarm clocks, and books. Desks were common, especially for students who needed a space to do homework. Chairs and seating options varied, with some teenagers opting for bean bag chairs or floor cushions for a relaxed and casual vibe.

Electronics

stereo

Electronics were a big part of the typical 80s teenager’s bedroom. Television sets were often bulky and heavy, with smaller screens compared to today’s standards. VCRs were becoming more popular, allowing teenagers to rent and watch movies at home. Stereo systems were also a must-have, with cassette players and large speakers for blasting music. Telephones were another common electronic device, with answering machines becoming more prevalent towards the end of the decade.

Decorations and Posters

Decorations and posters were a crucial part of any teenager’s bedroom in the 80s. Popular posters included images of favorite bands and musicians, as well as movie and TV show posters. Neon lights and lava lamps were also popular, providing a colorful and funky ambiance to the room. Some teenagers had decorative flags, tapestries, or bead curtains hanging on their walls or doorways.

Clothes and Fashion Accessories

Fashion was a big part of the 80s, and teenagers expressed their style through their clothing and accessories. Popular trends for girls included neon-colored leggings, oversized sweaters, and high-waisted jeans. For boys, acid-washed denim, leather jackets, and band t-shirts were popular. Accessories included belts, hats, and jewelry such as hoop earrings and friendship bracelets.

Books, Magazines, and Comics

Reading material was also an essential part of the typical 80s teenager’s bedroom. Popular book series included Sweet Valley High and The Babysitters Club for girls, and Hardy Boys and Goosebumps for boys. Magazines aimed at teenagers, such as Seventeen and Tiger Beat, were popular, featuring articles on fashion, music, and celebrity gossip. Comic books and graphic novels were also widely read, with titles like X-Men, Spider-Man, and Watchmen being popular among teenagers.

Games and Toys

Finally, games and toys were a big part of the typical 80s teenager’s bedroom. Board games and puzzles were a popular way to pass the time, with classics such as Monopoly, Scrabble, and Rubik’s Cube being favorites. Video game consoles were also becoming more prevalent, with the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) being released in the mid-80s. Popular toys included Barbie dolls, My Little Pony, and Transformers.

Bold and colorful, with a mix of technology and vintage charm, the room was a place for teenagers to express themselves and explore their interests. While much has changed since then, the nostalgia and memories of the 80s continue to inspire and influence teenage culture today.

How has the typical teenager’s bedroom changed since the 80s?

While some aspects of the typical teenager’s bedroom remain the same, much has changed since the 80s. Today’s teenagers have access to more advanced technology, with smartphones, laptops, and gaming computers being a common sight in bedrooms. Beds and bedding styles have also evolved, with many teenagers now opting for larger beds and minimalistic bedding designs. Furniture trends have shifted towards more modern and functional designs, with space-saving pieces being popular for small bedrooms.

Fashion trends have also changed, with athleisure and streetwear being popular among today’s teenagers. Social media has also become a significant influence, with teenagers using platforms like Instagram and TikTok to express their personal style and share their interests.

In terms of entertainment, video games have become more advanced and immersive, with virtual reality being a growing trend. Streaming services like Netflix and Hulu have replaced VCRs and cable television, and socializing has shifted towards online communication rather than face-to-face interactions.

Despite the changes, the teenage bedroom remains a crucial space for self-expression and individuality. While the technology and fashion trends may change, the desire for a personal sanctuary remains constant among teenagers.

The typical teenager’s bedroom in the 80s was a unique and vibrant space that reflected the culture and trends of the time. From bold bedding designs to popular video game consoles, everything in the room was a reflection of the teenager’s personality and interests. While much has changed since then, the teenage bedroom remains a crucial part of growing up and discovering one’s identity. As technology and fashion trends continue to evolve, it will be exciting to see how the teenage bedroom continues to change and adapt.

Sam Walton saw an opportunity to provide small business owners and families with the opportunity to purchase goods in bulk at a discounted price. By buying products in large quantities, Sam’s Club was able to negotiate lower prices from suppliers and pass those savings on to their customers.

Today, Sam’s Club has over 600 stores in the United States and Puerto Rico, and is one of the largest membership-based warehouse clubs in the world.

What Happens To Returned Sam’s Club Mattresses?

Humans have been sleeping for thousands of years, and the need for a comfortable sleeping surface has always been a priority. In ancient times, people used natural materials such as straw, leaves, and animal skins to create a soft sleeping surface. Over time, the demand for more comfortable and durable mattresses led to the invention of new materials and technologies.

The purpose of this article is to explore the evolution of mattresses, from the simple straw-filled bags of ancient times to the high-tech foams of today. We will examine the different materials and construction methods used throughout history, the advantages and disadvantages of each type, and the future of mattresses and sleep technology.

The evolution of mattresses can be divided into several distinct phases, starting with the use of natural materials such as straw and animal skins, moving on to the invention of spring and coil mattresses, and culminating in the development of memory foam, latex foam, and high-tech foams. Each phase has its unique characteristics, advantages, and disadvantages, and has played a crucial role in shaping the modern mattress industry.

Early Mattresses

Early mattresses were made from natural materials such as straw, leaves, and animal skins. These materials were readily available and inexpensive, making them a popular choice for many people. The construction of these mattresses was relatively simple, involving stuffing the materials into a cloth bag and stitching it closed.

One of the advantages of these early mattresses was their affordability. They were an accessible option for people of all income levels, making sleep more comfortable for everyone. However, they also had several disadvantages. They were not very durable and could easily wear out over time. They were also not very hygienic and could attract insects, making them less than ideal for long-term use.

Despite these disadvantages, early mattresses were the best option available at the time, and people had to make do with what they had. Some examples of early mattresses include the Japanese futon, which is a thin mattress made of cotton or wool, and the Russian featherbed, which is a thick mattress filled with feathers.

As the demand for more comfortable and durable mattresses grew, people began to experiment with new materials and construction methods, leading to the development of modern-day mattresses. However, the history of these early mattresses is a testament to the human desire for a good night’s sleep and the ingenuity required to achieve it.

The Advent of Springs and Coils

In the late 19th century, the first coil spring was patented, revolutionizing the mattress industry. These springs were made of steel and were designed to provide support and durability. The invention of the spring coil was a significant development in the evolution of mattresses and led to the creation of the modern-day spring mattress.

Advancements in spring technology over the years have resulted in different types of spring mattresses, including pocketed coil mattresses, which are made up of individual springs wrapped in fabric, and continuous coil mattresses, which are made up of a single wire formed into multiple springs.

Hybrid mattresses have also become popular in recent years, combining the benefits of springs with other materials such as foam. These mattresses provide excellent support and pressure relief while also offering the comfort of foam.

One of the advantages of spring mattresses is their durability. They can last for many years without losing their shape or support. They also provide excellent support for people with back pain, allowing for a more restful sleep. However, they can be noisy and have poor motion isolation, making them less than ideal for couples.

Some examples of spring mattresses include the Beautyrest Black Hybrid, which is a hybrid mattress that combines pocketed coils with foam, and the Sealy Response Premium, which is a spring mattress that offers excellent support and durability.

Overall, the invention of the spring coil was a significant development in the evolution of mattresses, leading to the creation of durable and supportive mattresses that are still popular today. While they may not be the best option for everyone, they remain a viable choice for those seeking a good night’s sleep.

Memory Foam

Memory foam was invented in the 1960s by NASA to improve the safety and comfort of airplane seats. The material was designed to conform to the body’s shape and provide excellent support and pressure relief. Over time, memory foam was adapted for use in mattresses, and it has become a popular choice due to its unique properties.

One of the advantages of memory foam mattresses is their ability to relieve pressure points. This is particularly beneficial for people who suffer from back pain or joint problems. Memory foam also has excellent motion isolation, meaning that movement on one side of the mattress is not felt on the other side. However, memory foam mattresses can retain heat, making them less comfortable for people who sleep hot.

There are several variations of memory foam available, including gel-infused memory foam, which is designed to provide additional cooling, and plant-based memory foam, which is more environmentally friendly than traditional memory foam.

In conclusion, memory foam mattresses have become a popular choice due to their ability to relieve pressure points and provide excellent support. While they may not be suitable for everyone, they remain a viable option for those seeking a comfortable and restful sleep. With ongoing development and improvement in memory foam technology, we can expect to see even more variations of this material in the future.

Latex Foam

Latex foam mattresses are made from natural or synthetic rubber and have become a popular alternative to traditional spring and memory foam mattresses. The invention of latex foam can be traced back to the 1920s when the first latex foam pillow was produced. Over time, latex foam was adapted for use in mattresses, and it has become a popular choice due to its unique properties.

One of the advantages of latex foam mattresses is their durability. They are known for their long lifespan, lasting up to 15 years or more, and can maintain their shape and support over time. They are also hypoallergenic and antimicrobial, making them an ideal choice for people with allergies or asthma. However, they can be more expensive than other types of mattresses, and they may not be as conforming or pressure-relieving as memory foam.

There are several variations of latex foam available, including Dunlop latex foam, which is made using the traditional Dunlop process, and Talalay latex foam, which is made using a newer, more sophisticated process that results in a softer, more uniform foam.

Some examples of latex foam mattresses include the Zenhaven mattress, which is a 100% natural latex mattress that offers excellent support and pressure relief, and the PlushBeds Botanical Bliss, which is made from organic latex and offers customizable firmness options.

In conclusion, latex foam mattresses have become a popular alternative to traditional spring and memory foam mattresses due to their durability, hypoallergenic properties, and long lifespan. While they may not be the best option for everyone, they remain a viable choice for those seeking a comfortable and supportive sleep surface. With ongoing development and improvement in latex foam technology, we can expect to see even more variations of this material in the future.

High Tech Foams

High-tech foams are the latest development in the mattress industry and include a variety of different types of foam, including gel-infused foam, plant-based foam, and copper-infused foam. These foams offer superior support, pressure relief, and temperature regulation compared to traditional foams.

Gel-infused foam is designed to provide additional cooling and can help regulate body temperature during sleep. Plant-based foam is made from natural materials such as soy and castor oil and is more environmentally friendly than traditional foam. Copper-infused foam is designed to provide antimicrobial properties and promote healing and recovery.

The development of high-tech foams has been ongoing, with researchers continually experimenting with new materials and construction methods. These advancements have resulted in foams that offer improved durability, support, and comfort.

One of the advantages of high-tech foams is their ability to provide superior support and pressure relief, making them ideal for people with back pain or joint problems. They can also regulate body temperature, making them more comfortable for people who sleep hot. However, they can be more expensive than traditional foams, and they may not be suitable for everyone’s sleep preferences.

Some examples of high-tech foam mattresses include the Purple mattress, which is made with a unique grid of hyper-elastic polymer, providing excellent support and pressure relief, and the Loom & Leaf mattress, which is made with plant-based foam and offers excellent temperature regulation and support.

In conclusion, high-tech foams represent the latest development in the evolution of mattresses, offering improved support, pressure relief, and temperature regulation. While they may not be the best option for everyone, they remain a viable choice for those seeking a comfortable and supportive sleep surface. With ongoing development and improvement in high-tech foam technology, we can expect to see even more variations of this material in the future.

Sustainability

As the demand for mattresses continues to grow, there are increasing concerns about the environmental impact of mattress production and disposal, as well as the health concerns associated with the chemicals used in mattress production.

Mattresses can take up to 50 years to decompose in landfills, and the chemicals used in mattress production can have harmful effects on the environment and human health. For example, flame retardants used in mattresses can release toxic chemicals into the air and water supply, potentially leading to health problems such as cancer, developmental delays, and reproductive issues.

To address these concerns, many mattress manufacturers are now using sustainable materials and adopting environmentally friendly manufacturing processes. For example, some companies are using recycled materials in their mattresses, while others are using renewable materials such as natural latex foam.

In addition to sustainability concerns, there are also health concerns associated with mattresses. For example, some people may be sensitive to certain chemicals used in mattress production, leading to allergic reactions or other health issues. To address these concerns, some mattress manufacturers are now using organic materials and eliminating potentially harmful chemicals from their production processes.

Overall, it is important to consider the environmental and health impact of mattresses when making a purchase. Choosing a mattress made from sustainable materials and manufactured using environmentally friendly processes can help reduce the impact on the environment. Additionally, choosing a mattress made from organic materials and free from harmful chemicals can help reduce the risk of health problems associated with mattress production. By making informed choices, we can ensure that our sleep environment is not only comfortable but also sustainable and healthy.

Final Thoughts

The evolution of mattresses has come a long way from the days of straw-filled bags to the high-tech foams of today. From the simple use of natural materials to the invention of high-tech foams, the development of mattresses has been driven by the human desire for a comfortable and restful sleep.

Frequently Asked Questions About The Evolution of Mattress Materials & Technology

Is memory foam worth it for someone with pressure point issues?

Memory foam is highly effective for pressure point relief due to its body-conforming properties that distribute weight evenly. This can significantly improve sleep quality by cradling the body and reducing stress on joints. You can experience the pressure-relieving benefits first-hand in our San Diego showroom.

Who is a spring mattress best for?

Spring mattresses are an excellent choice for individuals who need robust support, especially those with back issues. Their coil construction provides a firm and responsive feel, suitable for back and stomach sleepers. Modern variants, like hybrid options, also offer pressure relief when combined with foam layers.

How does a hybrid mattress compare to a traditional spring mattress?

Hybrid mattresses combine the robust support of springs with the comfort foam layers, offering exceptional pressure relief and stability not always found in traditional spring mattresses. While traditional spring mattresses are durable, hybrids often provide better motion isolation and a more balanced feel. We have several hybrid mattresses available for testing in our Encinitas showroom.

What are the downsides of traditional spring mattresses?

Traditional spring mattresses can be noisy and may not isolate movement effectively, which can be disruptive for couples. These issues stem from the interconnected design of older coil systems. Modern advancements like pocketed coils have largely addressed these concerns.

Is memory foam good for hot sleepers?

Traditional memory foam can retain heat, making it less ideal for hot sleepers. However, newer variations like gel-infused and plant-based memory foams have emerged to address these concerns by enhancing thermal regulation. You can test these cooler options at Yawnder to see which works best for you.

Overview of Mattress Firm

Mattress Firm is a major American retail bedding company that specializes in the sale of mattresses, bed frames, bedding, and other sleep-related products. The company has a rich history that dates back to its founding in 1986. Here’s a brief overview of the history of Mattress Firm:

  1. Founding and early years (1986-2000): Mattress Firm was founded by Harry Roberts, Steve Fendrich, and Paul Stork in Houston, Texas, in 1986. The trio aimed to provide customers with a wide selection of high-quality mattresses at competitive prices, with a focus on excellent customer service. The company grew rapidly, expanding throughout Texas and the South Central United States. By the late 1990s, Mattress Firm had established itself as a major player in the retail bedding industry.

  2. Expansion and growth (2000-2012): In the early 2000s, Mattress Firm continued its expansion, entering new markets such as the Midwest and Southeast United States. The company embraced a strategy of aggressive growth, primarily through the acquisition of other mattress retailers. Some of the most notable acquisitions during this period include Mattress Pro, Sleep Experts, and Mattress Giant. By 2012, Mattress Firm operated more than 1,000 stores in 28 states, making it one of the largest specialty bedding retailers in the United States.

  3. Initial public offering (2011): On November 18, 2011, Mattress Firm went public, listing its shares on the NASDAQ stock exchange under the ticker symbol MFRM. The initial public offering (IPO) raised $105 million, and the company’s stock price climbed steadily during its first few years as a public company.

  4. Acquisition of Sleepy’s (2015): In 2015, Mattress Firm acquired its largest competitor, Sleepy’s, for $780 million. Sleepy’s was the second-largest specialty mattress retailer in the United States at the time, with over 1,000 stores primarily located in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions. The acquisition significantly increased Mattress Firm’s market share and store count, making it the largest specialty mattress retailer in the country.

  5. Acquisition by Steinhoff International (2016): In August 2016, South African retail conglomerate Steinhoff International announced its plans to acquire Mattress Firm for $3.8 billion, including debt. The deal was completed in September 2016, and Mattress Firm became a subsidiary of Steinhoff. This acquisition marked a major milestone in Mattress Firm’s history, giving it access to greater resources and an international presence.

  6. Bankruptcy and restructuring (2018-2019): In October 2018, Mattress Firm filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, citing an overexpansion that led to a surplus of underperforming stores. The company closed around 700 stores as part of its restructuring plan. Mattress Firm successfully emerged from bankruptcy in November 2018, with a leaner store footprint and a renewed focus on optimizing its operations.

  7. Recent developments (2019-present): Since emerging from bankruptcy, Mattress Firm has continued to evolve and adapt to the changing retail landscape. The company has embraced e-commerce and omnichannel retail strategies, while also working to improve its in-store customer experience. Mattress Firm remains a major player in the retail bedding industry, with a nationwide presence and a commitment to providing quality sleep products and customer service.

Throughout its history, Mattress Firm has weathered numerous challenges and capitalized on opportunities to grow and expand. The company’s ability to adapt and innovate has allowed it to maintain its position as a leading specialty mattress retailer in the United States.

Mattress Firm is known for offering a wide range of mattress brands, styles, and price points, catering to various customer needs and budgets. In general, their pricing is competitive compared to other mattress stores, both brick-and-mortar and online.

While specific prices vary depending on the brand, model, and size of the mattress, Mattress Firm offers options for almost every budget. They often run sales and promotions, which can provide additional savings for customers. Additionally, they offer a price match guarantee, which means they will match the advertised price of a comparable mattress from a competitor, ensuring that customers get the best possible deal.

That being said, it’s essential to compare prices and shop around when purchasing a mattress, as prices can vary from one retailer to another, and online mattress companies may have different pricing structures. The BedJet works well for any sleeping position. However, some positions get more out of its features than others:

Back Sleepers:

  • Sleeping on your back helps align your spine. It also helps air move around your body. The BedJet sends air directly to your back to keep you cool. This helps prevent night sweats and overheating.

Side Sleepers:

  • This is a great position for using the BedJet. Air flows freely around your body to keep you cool. This helps stop pressure points on your hips and shoulders. You can move the air nozzles to aim at your legs or lower back.

Stomach Sleepers:

  • Sleeping on your stomach can strain your neck and back. However, you can still use the BedJet to stay cool. Aim the air nozzles at your torso and legs. This helps control your body temperature while you sleep.

Combination Sleepers:

  • The BedJet is very flexible if you change positions at night. It has adjustable nozzles and many heat settings. These features keep you comfortable no matter how you move.

Additional Tips:

  • Try different nozzle spots and air settings to see what feels best.
  • Use the timer to lower the airflow slowly during the night.
  • Use the BedJet with breathable sheets and a cool mattress for the best results.

The history of the Avocado Kids Mattress began with the main company. Avocado was founded in 2015. The goal was to offer healthy and green sleep options.

In 2019, the company launched the Avocado Kids Mattress. This bed is made just for children. Like the adult version, it is organic and free of harmful chemicals.

The Avocado Kids Mattress provides a safe sleeping space. It has a medium-firm feel. The two-sided design helps the mattress last for many years.

Today, the Avocado Green Mattress company continues to expand its product line. It is now a leader in the non-toxic sleep industry.

Why is it So Popular?

How is it Made?

  1. Organic Cotton: First up, let’s talk about the super soft organic cotton cover. This stuff is no joke! It’s GOTS certified, which means it meets the highest global standard for organic textiles. And guess what? It’s also hand-tufted, giving the mattress a luxurious and cozy feel.

  2. Natural Wool: Next, there’s a layer of natural, moisture-wicking wool that’s also GOTS certified. This stuff is great because it’s naturally flame-resistant, so no need for any nasty chemical flame retardants. Plus, it helps regulate temperature, keeping your kiddo comfy all night long.

  3. Organic Latex: Now, the real magic happens with the organic latex. Avocado uses 100% GOLS-certified organic Dunlop latex, which is not only eco-friendly but also super comfy and supportive. It’s got just the right bounce and resilience to keep up with your growing child.

  4. Dual-sided design: Remember how I mentioned the dual-sided design earlier? Well, here’s how it works: One side of the mattress has a firmer latex layer for toddlers, while the other side has a softer, more contouring layer for older kids. You can simply flip the mattress to match your child’s needs. Pretty cool, huh?

  5. Quality construction: To top it all off, the Avocado Kids Mattress is made with top-notch craftsmanship. The layers are expertly assembled to create a durable, long-lasting mattress that can withstand years of sleepovers, jumping, and, of course, peaceful rest.

So, there you have it! The Avocado Kids Mattress is made with lots of love and care, using the finest organic materials and a wicked smart design. It’s all about giving your child the best sleep possible while keeping the planet happy, too. Sounds like a win-win to me!

Block Chain Verified Materials.

Avocado verifies the authenticity of its source materials through blockchain technology.

Blockchain technology is like a secure digital diary. It records and checks every step of a product’s life. This system creates trust and transparency for the buyer.

Why does this matter? It helps you know exactly where your materials come from. You can be sure they are real and safe. It proves the items are made without harsh chemicals.

Blockchain also shows that workers were treated fairly. Every detail is recorded and verified on a digital ledger. This ensures the materials are ethical and sustainable.

Here’s a quick rundown of the benefits:

  1. Traceability: You can track materials from the source to your home. It is like a digital passport for your mattress. You no longer have to guess if a brand is telling the truth.

  2. Accountability: Companies must prove their claims. They cannot just use “green” labels without evidence. The blockchain holds them responsible for every promise.

  3. Trust: You can feel confident that you get what you paid for. This system stops “greenwashing” and dishonest business habits.

  4. Empowerment: You can make better choices with your money. You are supporting brands that care about people and the planet.

Blockchain verified materials ensure you get the real deal. These tools help you find ethical and sustainable products. Now you have the power to make better choices for your home and the earth.

The OkiOki mattress is a hybrid mattress that combines the pressure relief of memory foam with the support and durability of pocketed coils. It is a medium-firm mattress, making it a good option for a variety of sleepers, including back, stomach, and combination sleepers.

The OkiOki mattress is made of three layers:

  • Top layer: 2 inches of graphite-infused memory foam. This layer provides pressure relief and contouring, while the graphite helps to dissipate heat and keep you cool.
  • Middle layer: 7 inches of high-density polyfoam. This layer provides support and durability.
  • Bottom layer: 800 individually wrapped pocketed coils. This layer provides additional support and helps to reduce motion transfer.

The OkiOki mattress is covered in a removable and machine-washable ice yarn cover. This cover is cool to the touch and helps to wick away moisture.

The OkiOki mattress comes in 4 different firmness levels so you can get the right firmness the first time. They even have a form you can fill out for a personalized recommendation. What struck me about this mattress is that it is a great value. A queen size retails for $500 and that’s before any discounts. It also comes with a 365-night trial which means you get to try it out in your home for a year before deciding if its right for you. And if not, you can return it for a full refund.

Overview of the OkiOki Mattress

Here’s a quick video overview of the mattresses and their different firmness levels. For this review, I received all 4 of their models in a twin xl size so I can show you the differences in firmness.

Construction of the OkiOki Mattresses

Since each mattress has a different firmness they each have a different construction. Here are the details according to their website.

OkiSoft

Hypoallergenic, Cooling Ice Yarn Zip Cover
– Cushion Layer: 3” of Memory Foam, 2.5lb, 11ILD
– Base Layer (two-part layer): 7” of High-Density PU Foam, 1.75lb, 25ILD + 1.56lb, 36ILD

OkiEasy

How Much Does the OkiOki Cost?

No matter what firmness you purchase, the price is the same. Here are the prices as of this writing.

[table id=53 /]

My OkiOki Mattress Findings

Overall the OkiOki transitions gradually in firmness levels. They all incorporate a phase change material in the cover which makes it cool to the touch.

OkiSoft

The OkiSoft is an all foam mattress with a fairly simple construction. 3 inches of comfort foam followed by a 7-inch base foam layer. Here you can see how much sink you get with my 14 lb. bowling ball.

There’s basically no motion transfer with this mattress since the soft top layer absorbs the impact of my bowling ball.

Here’s a look at the inside of the mattress. You can see that they are incorporating a phase change material for additional cooling.

oki soft construction

The top layer also has small holes throughout for breathability.

oki soft top

Here’s a side view showing edge support and sinkage.

oki soft sink

To give you a better sense of how this mattress feels, you can see how quickly each layer recovers. It’s also easy to squish this sof top layer.

The OkiSoft is best for dedicated side sleepers.

OkiEasy

The OkiEasy is a hybrid mattress that has a medium to medium soft feel. If you want a somewhat softer mattress with a little faster recovery, the OkiEasy is the way to go.

oki oki flex sinkage

Again you can’t see the coil system as its encased in foam. You will notice that this is a 3 layer construction with two layers of foam and a base layer of coils.

oki flex sink

Ouf of all 4 mattresses, this one had the most motion transfer but as you can see is still very minimal. However people who want just a little bounce with the mattress will enjoy the OkiEasy.

Here’s a look at how each layer of the OkiEasy reacts.

Overall the OkiFlex is probably the most versatile of the 4 mattresses but skews firmer. It’s a great choice for back sleepers.

OkiFlex

The OkiFlex has a hybrid construction of springs and coils. The coils are encased in foam so you have to dig a little to be able to see them. This makes the mattress more breathable than the all foam OkiSoft but also a bit firmer. Here you can see how much sinkage you get in comparison to the OkiSoft.

oki easy

Even though it has springs, they are pocket coil springs so move independently and therefore there is still minimal motion transfer. The top layer of foam is soft enough to absorb motion of the impact.

Similar to the OkiSoft, the top layer has small holes for breathability. This model incorporates graphite into the foam for a cooling effect.

oki easy top

Here’s a video showing how the layers react. As you can see it recovers faster than the OkiSoft.

Here you can see edge support which is also a little better than the OkiSoft of and OkiEasy.

oki easy sink 2

The OkiFlex is still great for side sleepers but is firmer and you won’t get as much pressure relief. I would recommend this for side sleepers that tend to sleep hot and don’t want to feel stuck in the mattress.

OkiFirm

The OkiFirm is an all foam mattress similar to the OkiSoft but incorporates denser foam for a firmer feel. It has slightly less sinkage than the OkiFlex and for the most part is indistinguishable.

oki firm

This mattress has basically no motion transfer either and since it is a firm mattress it is easy to switch positions.

Here you can see the top layer of graphite foam which also has holes on the top for more breathability.

oki firm top layer

Here’s a side view of the mattress.

oki firm side

As you can see in the picture below, it really doesn’t sink all that much.

oki side sink

Here’s how each layer reacts.

The OkiFirm is ideal for stomach sleepers. It is firm enough to give your lower back proper support for sleeping on your stomach and the graphite foam and phase change fabric will keep you cool as well.

My OkiOki Mattress Recommendation

Overall I am very impressed with the offerings from OkiOki. They are able to provide a competitive price by having the mattress made overseas and pass that saving on to the consumer. Most mattress companies offer a 100-night trial but this one joins a small list of companies now offering a 1-year trial which allows you to try the mattress out in all four seasons to see if it’s truly right for you.
