Sealy Brenham II Review: Spring vs Hybrid Explained
The Sealy Posturepedic Elite Brenham II is not one mattress. Sealy currently uses the Brenham II name across both Spring and Hybrid constructions, with different heights, comfort options and foam packages. The Hybrid is a 14-inch model with a deeper memory-foam feel, while the Spring versions run roughly 15–16 inches and include tight-top and pillow-top options.

Brenham II Spring vs Hybrid: which should you buy?
The most important decision is construction, not firmness. The two versions use similar support ideas but feel different at the surface.
Choose the Brenham II Hybrid if…
- You want more memory-foam contouring around the shoulders and hips.
- You prefer a smoother, less traditionally quilted sleep surface.
- You are a side sleeper choosing between the Brenham II Hybrid Soft and a more traditional pillow top.
- You want a 14-inch profile rather than a taller 15–16-inch spring mattress.
Choose the Brenham II Spring if…
- You want a more responsive, sleep-on-top feel.
- You like the look and feel of a traditional quilted mattress.
- You want a tight-top Medium or one of several pillow-top feels.
- You change positions often and do not want as much memory-foam cradle.
Brenham II Hybrid
The Hybrid is the more foam-forward Brenham. Sealy’s current comparison places it at 14 inches with roughly 2.5 inches of gel memory foam, a SealyChill cooling cover and Firm or Soft comfort choices.
The support core uses individually encased PrecisionFit coils enhanced with MaxSupport technology. DuraFlex coils reinforce the perimeter instead of relying only on a foam edge rail. Current retailer specs also show the familiar 1,066-coil count in queen for this Elite support platform.
Brenham II Hybrid Soft
The Soft is the obvious side-sleeper option. It is designed to let the shoulder and hip settle more deeply while the encased coils keep the bed from feeling like an all-foam slab. A current retailer listing shows the Soft Hybrid at 14 inches and markets it specifically toward side sleepers.
Brenham II Hybrid Firm
The Firm is better suited to sleepers who want the pressure distribution of memory foam without a plush cradle. It is the Brenham Hybrid we would start with for stomach sleepers and for many heavier sleepers who dislike sinking through the upper layers.
Brenham II Spring
The Spring family gives you more top-style choices. Sealy currently lists a 15-inch tight-top Medium and 16-inch pillow-top options in Firm, Medium and Soft. This is the more traditional side of the Elite range.

15-inch Medium tight top
The tight-top Medium is the simplest Brenham II Spring configuration. Current specifications list 1 inch of ComfortSense gel memory foam above roughly 2.5 inches of SealySupport gel foam, followed by the 8-inch PrecisionFit coil unit with MaxSupport, a 1-inch base foam and the DuraFlex perimeter.
This version makes the most sense for people who want a medium feel without the extra loft and cushioning of a pillow top.
16-inch pillow-top options
The pillow-top Brenham II adds more cushioning above the same basic support concept. Sealy offers pillow-top Firm, Medium and Soft versions. The Medium is the most versatile, Soft is the pressure-relief choice, and Firm gives you a cushioned surface without letting the hips sink as easily.
PrecisionFit, MaxSupport and edge support
The support platform is one of the strongest reasons to consider Brenham II. PrecisionFit coils are arranged to respond independently rather than moving as one connected spring unit. MaxSupport adds more reinforcement through the central region, where body weight is usually concentrated.

DuraFlex coils wrap the perimeter. In practical terms, that should make the side of the mattress feel more usable than beds with weak, compressible edges. We will add measured edge-deflection data if we put this exact generation through Yawnder’s standardized testing protocol.
Cooling
Brenham II uses SealyChill technology in the cover. Sealy positions this as a cooler-to-the-touch surface than its lower tiers. It is a meaningful material upgrade, but it is not the brand’s top cooling package: High Point II adds an advanced cooling cover plus a cooling enhancement in the foam.
So if you are a very hot sleeper, the question is whether High Point II’s extra cooling is worth the premium. For many shoppers, Brenham II’s cooling cover plus the airflow created by the coil core will be enough.
Brenham II vs High Point II
The High Point II is the flagship Elite Hybrid. It has the more aggressive cooling package and up to roughly 3.5 inches of gel memory foam. Brenham II Hybrid uses about 2.5 inches and starts lower in Sealy’s lineup.
| Feature | Brenham II Hybrid | High Point II Hybrid |
|---|---|---|
| Height | 14″ | 14″ |
| Gel memory foam | About 2.5″ | Up to about 3.5″ |
| Cooling | Cooling cover | Advanced cooling cover + cooling foam |
| Feels | Firm, Soft | Firm, Medium, Soft |
| Starting price | Lower | Higher |
Our view: Brenham II is the smarter value if you do not specifically need High Point II’s deeper foam stack or stronger cooling treatment.
Brenham II vs Albany II
The Sealy Albany II is the entry point to the Elite collection. Albany II Hybrid is a 13-inch Medium with a 2-inch gel-memory-foam layer, while Brenham II Hybrid steps up to 14 inches, a deeper comfort package and Firm/Soft choices. If Albany’s Medium works for you, it can be the better value.
Brenham II vs Paterson II
The Paterson II is the more affordable Posturepedic Plus option. Brenham II moves you into the Elite tier with a more sophisticated support/cooling package and more premium comfort options. If budget matters most, Paterson II is where we would start. If you want a more substantial mattress and plan to keep it for many years, Brenham II is the logical step up.
Price and value
Sealy currently shows the Brenham II Spring family starting around $1,999 and the Hybrid around $2,199 before size changes and promotions. Retail prices vary substantially, especially on pillow-top configurations. For example, current queen and king listings can move well above those starting numbers.
Do not judge value by the crossed-out MSRP alone. Compare the actual checkout price with Paterson II below it and High Point II above it. Brenham II is most compelling when it sits clearly between those two tiers rather than drifting too close to High Point pricing.

Common questions
Is the Sealy Brenham II a hybrid? Some versions are. Sealy currently sells both Brenham II Hybrid and Brenham II Spring constructions, so verify the full model name.
How tall is the Brenham II? The Hybrid is 14 inches. Spring versions are generally 15 inches for the tight top and 16 inches for pillow-top models.
Which Brenham II is best for side sleepers? The Hybrid Soft or Spring Pillow Top Soft are the logical starting points for dedicated side sleepers because they allow more shoulder and hip compression.
Which Brenham II is best for back sleepers? The Spring Medium and pillow-top Medium are the most broadly suitable places to start. Firm may suit heavier back sleepers or people who prefer less sink.
Does Brenham II have good motion isolation? It uses individually encased coils, which are designed to reduce motion spread compared with interconnected springs. We have not yet published an instrument-measured Yawnder motion score for this exact generation.
What is the Brenham II warranty? Sealy currently lists a 10-year warranty and a 90-night trial for direct purchases. Retailer return and exchange terms can differ.
Yawnder’s bottom line
Brenham II is probably the most interesting model name in Sealy’s current Elite range because it spans both Spring and Hybrid constructions. The Hybrid is the better fit if you want deeper contouring; the Spring line is more versatile if you want a traditional tight top or pillow top. In either case, Brenham II is where we would look before automatically paying more for High Point II. Just make sure you compare the exact construction and feel, not the Brenham II name by itself.
