Best Saatva Mattress for Side Sleepers (2026)
We pressure-mapped Saatva‘s full lineup at the shoulder and hip. Here are the three Saatva models that actually work for side sleepers — and the one to skip.
Side sleeping puts roughly 70% of your bodyweight on two pressure points: the shoulder and the hip. The mattress has to let those points sink in while keeping the spine straight. After testing every Saatva model in our Encinitas showroom, here are the three that actually do that — and the one most side sleepers should avoid.
The bottom line
For most side sleepers, the Saatva Loom & Leaf (Relaxed Firm) is the sweet spot — gel memory foam with deep shoulder relief at a fair price. If you want a coil feel, get the Saatva Classic in Plush Soft. Heavier side sleepers (230+ lb) should jump to the Saatva HD.
Our top 3 Saatva picks for side sleepers

Saatva Loom & Leaf — Relaxed Firm
Five-pound gel memory foam with a quilted Euro-pillow top. In our pressure mapping it produced the lowest peak shoulder pressure of any Saatva model (28 mmHg vs 41 on the Classic Luxury Firm). The Relaxed Firm version (around 6/10) is the side-sleep winner; the Firm is too rigid for most.

Saatva Classic — Plush Soft (11.5″)
If you want bounce and breathability instead of memory-foam hug, the Plush Soft Classic is the pick. The 3″ Euro pillow top gives shoulders enough room to sink without the foam-trapped feeling. Skip the Luxury Firm option — it’s too firm for side sleeping under 200 lb.

Saatva HD
Built for sleepers 230–500 lb, with high-density support foam and tempered steel coils. Heavier side sleepers usually bottom out on standard mattresses and wake up with shoulder pain — the HD has 3″ more cushioning than the Classic and won’t collapse under load.

Why Luxury Firm is wrong for most side sleepers
The default “Luxury Firm” Classic (Saatva‘s most-sold model) sits around 6.5–7/10 on our firmness scale. That’s great for back sleepers — but for a 130–180 lb side sleeper, the shoulder simply doesn’t sink enough. We see this complaint constantly: the buyer chooses Luxury Firm because it’s the popular pick, then wakes with shoulder pain at week two. Side sleepers should pick Plush Soft or Loom & Leaf Relaxed Firm.
