How to choose the feel
Helix describes both as medium-firm. The Luxe adds a quilted pillow top, but more layers do not guarantee a softer or more supportive fit for every sleeper. Side sleepers can check shoulder and hip pressure; back and stomach sleepers can check whether their midsection feels supported. Both partners should try the mattress together if they have different preferences.
- Consider Plus: you prefer a lower bed profile or want to compare the current price of the simpler build.
- Consider Plus Luxe: you like a taller pillow-top design and want to compare its available cover or support upgrades.
- Consider another model: you need a distinctly softer or firmer feel, or your bed setup has a height constraint.
What Yawnder has reviewed
Ben’s Helix Plus review includes original photographs and impressions of the earlier Nightfall model, which predates the current design. The Plus Luxe review discusses manufacturer specifications and notes that Yawnder has not completed an instrument session on that model. Those records do not establish a controlled head-to-head winner for cooling, motion isolation or edge support.
Original Nightfall review video
This Yawnder video shows the earlier Nightfall version, not necessarily the current Plus construction.
Cooling and movement
Both models have optional cooling upgrades; the Plus Luxe’s standard cover is TENCEL. A cooling cover can feel cool on contact without guaranteeing an overnight temperature. Compare the same cover options and try movement and edges with your partner; we do not have a matched test showing that either model will isolate motion better for you.
Weight capacity and your base
Helix’s weight guidance lists up to 1,000 lb combined, or 500 lb per sleeper, for Plus models. Its Plus Luxe product page advertises support up to 1,500 lb. These statements conflict, so confirm the limit for the exact mattress with Helix. Separately check the frame or adjustable base for the combined weight of the mattress, sleepers and bedding.
Price, delivery and trial
Compare the same size, cover, support option, delivery and setup charges. Helix advertises a 365-night trial for qualifying direct mattress orders, with a 30-night break-in and terms. Eligible Yawnder mattress orders follow Yawnder’s 100-night trial, with a 30-night minimum and a $200 return fee for refunds, waived for eligible exchanges. Exclusions apply. Mattress warranties are separate; check the applicable warranty and seller policy before ordering.
Measure your finished bed height and sheets. The manufacturer lists a queen at approximately 100 lb for Plus and 115 lb for Plus Luxe, so arrange help with setup.
Frequently asked questions
Is Plus Luxe always softer?
No. Both are marketed as medium-firm. The Luxe has a pillow top, but the feel depends on body size, position and configuration.
Is the GlacioTex cover included?
Helix lists it as an upgrade on these models. Check the exact listing and price before ordering.
Is the Luxe worth the extra cost?
That depends on the current price difference and whether you prefer the taller pillow-top construction and available options. We do not have a controlled value score for both.
Can I try them in San Diego?
Contact the Encinitas showroom to confirm which exact models are on the floor before visiting.
