The Brentwood Home Cypress mattress is an affordable memory foam mattress that is available in a variety of firmness and height options. It is made with CertiPUR-US-certified charcoal-infused memory foam, which is designed to be supportive and pressure-relieving. The mattress is also GREENGUARD Gold certified, which means that it meets low emission standards for indoor air quality.

The Cypress mattress is available in three firmness levels: soft, medium, and firm. It is also available in two heights: 11 inches and 13 inches. The 11-inch mattress is a good option for sleepers who want a traditional mattress height, while the 13-inch mattress is a good option for sleepers who want a bit more support.

The Cypress mattress is also available in two different types: all-foam and hybrid. The all-foam mattress is made entirely of foam, while the hybrid mattress has a base layer of pocketed coils. The hybrid mattress is a good option for sleepers who want the pressure relief of memory foam with the added support of coils.

Overall, the Brentwood Home Cypress mattress is a good option for sleepers who are looking for an affordable and comfortable memory foam mattress. It is available in a variety of firmness and height options, and it is also available in two different types: all-foam and hybrid.

Here is a summary of the pros and cons of the Brentwood Home Cypress mattress:

Pros:

  • Affordable
  • Available in a variety of firmness and height options
  • Available in all-foam and hybrid models
  • CertiPUR-US certified
  • GREENGUARD Gold certified
  • Good pressure relief
  • Supportive

Cons:

  • Some sleepers may find the memory foam to be too soft
  • The mattress may have a slight odor when it first arrives, but this will usually dissipate within a few days

If you are considering purchasing a Brentwood Home Cypress mattress, I recommend that you read reviews from other customers to get their feedback on the mattress. You should also consider your own sleep preferences when choosing a firmness level and height.

I received a free Brentwood Home Cypress Bamboo Gel mattress to review. Brentwood Home is a company located out of Los Angeles. Below is a picture of their offices, which house thier mattress line for inspiration.

I first came across their products via Amazon, which are very highly rated there. I have wanted to review them myself to see how they compare to the other startups and recently, the company reached out to me to send me a few mattress models to review, the first of which was the Cypress Bamboo Gel.

Brentwood veers away from the “one size fits all” philosophy that others promote. In turn, they make a variety of beds with different materials for a variety of budgets. Brentwood even makes a specialty RV-size mattress.

Brentwood Home designs and manufactures all of their products in their own facilities in the USA. Keeping it local gives them more quality control and lowers costs which translates into more affordable prices.

They also focus on healthy products using non-toxic and natural materials. They use CertiPUR-US foam and abide by the Global Organic Latex Standard Certification standards. You also won’t find excessive use of flame retardants.

Aside from their mattress ensemble, Brentwood Home makes pillows, bedding, draperies, and even aromatherapy candles. They are planning to launch a babies and kids category with beds, changing pads, small furniture, and toys.

Ordering the Cypress Bamboo Gel 13

You can purchase this mattress directly from the Brentwood Home website.  Brentwood Home now has a 1 year trial period, where if you aren’t happy with the mattress within that time frame, they will arrange to have it shipped back for free with a full refund.

Once you place your order it ships very quickly. I received my mattress within a week of ordering. It arrives in a box just like the others I have tested and inflates out of the box very quickly.

brentwood box

The dents in the box are in large part due to me sliding it across my house and down the steps into my basement. Since it’s all foam there’s not much you can break. It is wrapped well and inflated to full size in about 4 hours.

I strongly recommend buying directly from their website to get the best pricing, customer service and the ability to take advantage of the 1-year trial. You can also use our exclusive 15% discount, SleepSherpa15 to save even more on the prices below.

Construction of the Cypress Gel Mattress

This mattress comes in an 11 inch, medium firm version and a 13-inch medium feel. For this review, I tried the 13-inch medium feel. Both versions have all the features below but the 13-inch version has an extra inch of gel foam and 1 extra inch of base foam for a higher profile and slightly softer feel.

cypress mattress 1

Medium-firm feel

The 11-inch Cypress model features 2.5 inches of gel infused memory foam and 6.5 inches of base foam. It delivers a confirming, cool, medium-firm sleep experience. Great for back and stomach sleepers who occasionally sleep on their sides.

Medium feel

The 13-inch Cypress model uses 3.5 inches of gel infused memory foam and 7.5 inches of base foam. It delivers deeper contouring support, relief from pressure points and a softer sleep experience. Great for side, back, and stomach sleepers or partners with different preferences.

My Brentwood Home Cypress Findings

The Cypress Bamboo Gel 13 is a true memory foam mattress. By that I mean it doesn’t have any bounce and does a great job with motion isolation. The tradeoff, of course, is that it won’t feel anything like an innerspring if you prefer a little bounce.

I was skeptical that this mattress could live up to its reviews on Amazon given the price. Bottom line, this is an exceptional value. The contouring and pressure relief is amazing. The issue, and it’s a minor one, is that it lacks some edge support. However, I don’t see it as a deal breaker since you won’t be moving around much at night anyway. I spent a few nights watching TV on it and found that I wasn’t fidgeting like I normally do. You gently sink in and feel lighter.

As you can see below there are 4 layers of foam with the top being the cooling gel layer.

Here’s how each layer of foam reacts

You’ll also notice that there’s little motion transfer.

There’s some but not too much sinkage in this mattress. It feels more like a traditional memory foam mattress. It’s a little more firm than an Endy though.

My Brentwood Home Cypress Mattress Recommendation

The Bamboo Gel 13 is a great mattress at an exceptional value. Side sleepers will find this mattress very comfortable. It is one of the best I have reviewed for motion transfer. The cooling gel layer works as advertised. The bamboo cover also assists with breath-ability. If you are on a budget but don’t want to compromise on quality, this is the bed for you. It absolutely ranks right up there with a top brand.  Buying this will save you thousands and you will sleep great as well!

You should also note that this mattress also comes in specialty sizes such as:

Olympic Queen
Split Queen
Split King
Split CA King
RV / Short Twin
RV / Short Full
RV / Short Queen
RV / Short King

  1. I got the Bamboo 13, and I have found it to be too firm. I am a side sleeper and on this bed I am getting pain on several pressure points in the middle of the night. This bed, while nice, really didn’t give me a softer feeling than my old mattress ( a sealy beauty rest). The memory foam layer is GREAT but when I sink in to the foam layer beneath it, that is much too firm.

I am going to return it – I was hoping you could recommend a brand/model bed that would give me a much softer/deeper “sink in” and pressure point relief than the bamboo 13? Perhaps the S Bed, or the Alexandar?

    • The S Bed will be firmer than the Bamboo Gel 13. I would go with an Alexander Soft or even a Noomi or Dromma.

  2. I hate restaurant reviews by amateur reviewers, and will not go into details about weights, sleeping postures, etc.

We decided to replace our innerspring with a foam mattress. The above “Conclusion” sounded good & we ordered the Bamboo Gel 13 queen.

It was hard to believe that so much mattress was arrived in a relatively small box.

The friend who helped us carry it upstairs tried it after it expanded and decided to buy one.

We find it very comfortable and supportive. It is firm and had a faint odor. It is a great bargain compared with the ones we tried in local stores.

Of course anyone ordering by mail should consider how it will be transported to the bedroom, and how the replaced mattress will be removed and discarded.

  3. How would compare the Sierra to the Bamboo 13? I’m a side sleeper needing to replace an old spring mattress. I’m torn between the 2. I’ve contacted Brentwood but they basically read me the specs of each mattress. LOL. I was hoping for a bit more guidance.

    Thanks!

    • The Bamboo 13 will feel firmer than the Sierra. If you prefer that dense foam feeling that slowly cradles you then go with the Brentwood Bamboo mattress. The Sierra will have more of a pillow top feel and recover a bit faster.
