Yawnder mattress reviews · October 15, 2026

The Black Diamond Lux Quilted Hybrid is a 14-inch luxury hybrid with a quilted Euro top, foam comfort layers, microcoils and a wrapped-coil support system. The important buying decision is the comfort level: Soft/Plush, Medium and Firm are three versions of this mattress, not three names for the same feel.
Reviewed by Ben Trapskin, Yawnder founder. I am 6’3″ and 220 lbs, and I have firsthand experience trying the mattresses on Yawnder’s showroom floor. Body size affects how a mattress feels, so use the comfort-level guidance below alongside your own sleeping position and preferences.

Quick verdict
Start with the Lux Quilted Hybrid if you want a cushioned Euro-top surface and the underlying support of a substantial hybrid. Medium is the most useful starting point when you are undecided. Compare Plush if shoulder and hip cushioning matter most; compare Firm if you prefer less give at the surface or spend more time on your stomach.
The quilted top does not make every version soft. Choose the comfort level deliberately, and distinguish this model from the standard Black Diamond Lux Hybrid, which has its own product listing.

Construction specifications describe the product; they are not measured performance scores. The three firmness versions should be evaluated separately rather than given one shared firmness or cooling result.
Soft / Plush vs Medium vs Firm
The product selector calls the soft version Plush. In this review, Soft and Plush mean that same comfort option. Firmness names are relative to this model family; they do not guarantee that two different brands will feel alike.
| Comfort level | Start here if… | Check carefully |
|---|---|---|
| Soft / Plush | You prefer more surface cushioning, especially around your shoulder and hip when side sleeping. | Whether your pelvis settles too far when you switch onto your back or stomach. |
| Medium | You switch between your side and back, or want a starting point between the two extremes. | Whether your shoulder has enough room to settle and your waist feels supported. |
| Firm | You prefer a flatter, less yielding feel, or want to compare a more supportive-feeling option for stomach sleeping. | Pressure at your shoulder and hip if you also spend substantial time on your side. |
Body weight changes the comparison. A lighter sleeper may experience the same surface as firmer than a heavier sleeper does. Judge cushioning and alignment together: a comfortable first impression is useful, but it does not settle the question of support.
Soft / Plush: cushioning comes first
Plush is the comfort option to compare first when you want a more yielding surface. It is particularly relevant to side sleepers who dislike a firm mattress pressing against the shoulder or hip. That is a starting point for a fitting, not a promise that the softest option suits every side sleeper.
Soft / Plush mattress photos and labels
Match the comfort designation on the mattress label to the Plush option in the product selector. A photo of the quilted top alone does not establish its firmness, because the versions belong to the same design family.
Soft / Plush comfort and support
On your side, pay attention to shoulder room and how your waist is supported. On your back, check whether the softer surface lets your hips settle more than you prefer. Sitting at an edge and lying close to it are different checks; consider both if you often use the perimeter of the bed.
Soft / Plush movement and response
If you move frequently, compare how easily you can change position after the comfort layers have compressed. Bounce footage and foam-recovery footage answer different questions: visible springiness does not by itself establish how much movement a partner will feel.
Medium: the comparison starting point
Medium is the sensible version to try first if you are choosing between Plush and Firm. It gives side-and-back combination sleepers a useful reference point: compare it directly with Plush for pressure-point comfort, then with Firm for the amount of surface give you prefer.
Medium mattress photos and labels
Confirm that the product label says Medium before comparing it with another comfort option. Keep the size and foundation consistent during a comparison so the mattress setup does not become an extra variable.
Medium comfort and support
Check the positions you actually use, including transitions between them. Your shoulder should have enough room when you are on your side, while your pelvis should not feel as though it is dropping out of line when you roll onto your back. A medium label is not a substitute for those checks.
Medium movement and response
For couples, compare ease of movement with partner disturbance. A responsive surface can help with repositioning, but motion isolation needs its own evaluation. Consider how you use the bed, including sitting on the edge, rather than choosing from the firmness name alone.
Firm: a less yielding comfort option
Firm is the version to compare if you dislike a softer top letting you settle too deeply. Back and stomach sleepers may prefer that direction, although body size and individual pressure sensitivity still matter. A Firm model can retain quilted cushioning at the surface.
Firm mattress photos and labels
Use the comfort label to distinguish this version from Medium and Plush. The quilted Euro-top appearance identifies the design, but the label identifies which comfort version is being photographed or demonstrated.

Firm comfort and support
When stomach sleeping, check whether your hips stay in a position that feels supported rather than dipping below your torso. If you also sleep on your side, take time to compare shoulder and hip pressure with Medium. Greater firmness is not automatically the better fit.
Firm movement and response
Compare how readily you can roll over and move toward the edge after lying in one spot. Firmness, bounce and foam-recovery speed are separate characteristics, so avoid treating one short demonstration as a complete account of the mattress.
Construction, cooling and everyday use
What the quilted hybrid build changes
The Euro top adds a cushioned surface above the comfort and support layers. The current product listing describes memory foam, microcoils and wrapped support coils. This is a layered hybrid design, so evaluate the feel of the whole mattress rather than assuming the foam or coils alone determine it.
Cooling materials versus sleeping temperature
CoolTouch, Ice Flex and graphene-infused foam are the cooling features named in the product listing. These are construction and marketing descriptions, not a guarantee of a particular overnight temperature. Sheets, a protector, room temperature and how deeply you settle into the bed can all affect the experience.
Practical fit
A listed 14-inch profile is worth checking against your fitted sheets and preferred bed height. Confirm the support requirements in the manufacturer’s warranty before choosing a foundation. The product page is the place to verify the selected size, comfort, availability and final purchase price.
Pros and limitations
Reasons to consider it
- Three comfort options let you compare within the same model family.
- A quilted Euro top for shoppers who prefer a cushioned hybrid surface.
- Microcoils, wrapped support coils and a foam-encased perimeter in the listed construction.
- The same checked Queen price across Plush, Medium and Firm.
Tradeoffs to weigh
- A 14-inch mattress can make an already tall bed harder to get into.
- Cooling-material names do not establish overnight cooling performance.
- Plush, Medium and Firm can suit different sleepers; one model-wide score cannot decide the right comfort option.
- Returning a mattress purchased from Yawnder is subject to a fee and eligibility rules.

Yawnder purchases: 100-night mattress trial
For an eligible new mattress purchased from Yawnder, the trial is 100 nights with a minimum 30-night adjustment period. A mattress refund is reduced by a $200 return and processing fee; that fee is waived for an eligible exchange to a different mattress, with any price difference applying. There is one trial return or exchange per customer and household. An exchange replacement is final sale and does not begin a second trial.
Floor models are final sale. Check the full Yawnder return policy and shipping terms for eligibility, delivery charges and exclusions. The 20-year limited manufacturer warranty addresses qualifying defects under its terms; it is separate from the retailer’s comfort trial.

Frequently asked questions
Is Soft the same as Plush?
Yes, in this review Soft refers to the Plush comfort option shown in the Lux Quilted Hybrid product selector. The other options are Medium and Firm.
Which version should a side sleeper compare first?
Start by comparing Plush and Medium. Shoulder and hip cushioning matter, but so does support through the waist and pelvis. Your body size and preferred feel can change which version is more comfortable.
Is Firm best for every back or stomach sleeper?
No. Firm is a useful comparison if you prefer less surface give, but the right fit depends on your body size and how the mattress supports you in your sleeping positions.
Does the quilted top mean every version feels soft?
No. The quilted surface is part of the model’s design, while Plush, Medium and Firm identify different comfort options.
How much is a Queen?
Queen Plush, Medium and Firm were each listed at $2,799 when checked October 15, 2026. Confirm the current price and selected comfort option on the product page.
Is the trial 100 nights or 120 nights?
For a purchase from Yawnder, use Yawnder’s 100-night mattress trial and its 30-night adjustment period, return fee and eligibility rules. A different seller’s trial does not replace the terms of your Yawnder order.
