Ashley Mattress Return Policy (2026): What Is Actually Guaranteed
No national sleep trial, mattress returns tied to the manufacturer’s warranty, and store-by-store rules. Here is what Ashley actually publishes.
Ashley’s published US policy does not include a nationwide mattress comfort trial. For items ordered online, Ashley states plainly that returns on mattresses or foundations are controlled by the manufacturer’s warranty, if any. Non-damaged, non-defective White Glove and Doorstep deliveries cannot be returned at all, and every in-store purchase falls under whatever terms that particular store printed on your receipt — many Ashley stores are independently owned.

The part most articles get wrong
Search for “Ashley mattress return policy” and you will find confident claims about a 90-night or 100-night Ashley comfort guarantee. Ashley’s own US returns page contains no such promise. Canada and individual franchise stores have run comfort-guarantee programs, which is where those numbers come from — but they are not a national Ashley commitment, and you cannot hold a US store to a policy it never signed.
That matters because a mattress is the one purchase where “I can always return it” changes how carefully people shop. With Ashley, assume the opposite: once a mattress is delivered by White Glove or Doorstep service and it is not damaged or defective, Ashley’s published position is that it stays with you.
Three different rulebooks, depending on how you bought
1. Ordered online, shipped by standard carrier
- 30 days from delivery to return.
- Must be new/unused, with all parts, securely packed in the original packaging.
- Return shipping or pickup fees may apply, and shipping and handling is not refunded.
- Cannot be dropped at a store.
2. Ordered online, White Glove or Doorstep delivery
- Inspect at delivery. Damage or defects must be reported to Guest Experience within 3 business days.
- Non-damaged, non-defective items may not be returned.
- After 3 business days, a manufacturing defect goes to the manufacturer’s warranty.
3. Bought in a store
- Terms come from that store, whether it is company-owned or independently licensed.
- Check the back of your receipt and the terms you signed at purchase.
- Ask two things in writing before paying: is there a comfort exchange, and what does it cost?

What to ask the salesperson before you sign
- Is there a comfort exchange at this store, in writing? A verbal “we’ll take care of you” is not a policy.
- What are the fees? Restocking, pickup and redelivery are where a “free” exchange quietly costs a few hundred dollars.
- Is a mattress protector required? Many furniture stores void a comfort exchange for any stain.
- Is this item clearance, as-is or a floor model? Those are almost always final.
Buy a mattress with the trial written on the invoice
If a real sleep trial matters to you, shop beds whose return terms are published up front instead of inherited from a franchise agreement. Yawnder’s current deals page lists what we test and what each brand’s trial actually covers.
Frequently asked questions
Does Ashley have a 90-night or 100-night sleep trial?
Not as a published US policy. Ashley’s US returns page does not offer a national mattress comfort trial; it states that mattress and foundation returns are controlled by the manufacturer’s warranty. Individual stores and other countries have run their own comfort programs, so ask the specific store for its written terms.
Can I return an Ashley mattress after sleeping on it?
For online White Glove or Doorstep deliveries, Ashley states that non-damaged, non-defective items may not be returned, so a used mattress generally cannot go back. For in-store purchases it depends entirely on the terms that store gave you at purchase.
Can I return an online Ashley order to an Ashley store?
No. Ashley’s policy states that items ordered online may not be returned in stores. Returns are arranged through Guest Experience using the phone number on your order confirmation.
Will Ashley refund delivery fees?
No, except when the merchandise was damaged or defective. Shipping, delivery and handling charges are listed as non-refundable, and return shipping or pickup fees may also apply.
How long does an Ashley refund take?
Ashley asks for 7 to 10 days after it receives the returned item for the credit to appear on your statement. Refunds go back to the payment method used at purchase.
Bottom line
Treat an Ashley mattress as a considered, mostly final purchase: test it in person, get any comfort exchange written on the invoice with its fees named, and keep the law tag on. If you want the safety net of a documented sleep trial, buy from a brand or retailer that publishes one.
