“Sprayable Sleep” refers to a product that claims to help users fall asleep more easily by delivering melatonin – the hormone responsible for regulating sleep – through the skin. Instead of ingesting melatonin in the form of pills, users spray this product onto their skin, typically the neck, where it’s absorbed and supposedly helps to adjust the user’s internal clock.
Here’s a basic breakdown:
Composition: The main active ingredient in Sprayable Sleep is melatonin. Some formulations might include other ingredients to enhance absorption or improve the scent, but melatonin is the primary compound that purportedly aids sleep.
Mechanism: Melatonin is a hormone that the body naturally produces in response to darkness. It helps regulate your sleep-wake cycle. As we age, or due to various other reasons (like exposure to screens late at night), melatonin production can be disrupted. Sprayable Sleep attempts to provide a supplementary source of this hormone.
Usage: Users spray the product onto their skin (often the neck) a set amount of time before they want to go to sleep.
Benefits Over Pills: One claimed advantage of the spray over oral supplements is that it bypasses the digestive system. This might lead to a more consistent and predictable dose of melatonin. Moreover, some people have difficulty swallowing pills or might experience digestive side effects from oral supplements, so a spray offers an alternative method of delivery.
Considerations: Before using any sleep aid, including Sprayable Sleep, it’s essential to consult with a healthcare professional. This is particularly true if you’re already on medication or have a health condition. Melatonin can interact with certain medications and isn’t suitable for everyone. Also, the effectiveness of such sprays compared to traditional oral supplements is a subject of debate and might vary from person to person.
It’s worth noting that while melatonin can help some people with sleep disturbances, it’s not a cure-all. Proper sleep hygiene, including maintaining a consistent sleep schedule, creating a conducive sleep environment, and limiting exposure to screens before bedtime, is crucial for optimal sleep health.
The latest development in sleep aids has just hit the market, Sprayable Sleep. What is it? It’s a topical melatonin spray that works as effectively as the pill form.

I was given 3 bottles of sprayable sleep. I have used it about seven time since receiving the product and find it to be convenient and easier to pack and lighter than a bottle of pills when I travel.
Findings
As instructed, I sprayed twice on each side of my neck about an hour before bedtime. I did notice that this takes a little longer than the pill form to start working. Usually I start getting drowsy within an hour after taking a melatonin pill. With this product it was more like an hour and a half. Not sure if thats because it takes longer to permeate my skin but it consistently took an hour and a half every time I used it.
For a sense of scale here’s the size of the bottle in my hand
Like I said this product works it just takes a little longer to kick in as compared to the pill form of melatonin. So, it really comes down to preference. Usually with melatonin pillow you are supposed to let them dissolve in your mouth instead of swallowing whole. So if you don’t want any chalky after taste, this may be the ticket.
