Sealy Paterson II vs High Point II (2026): Is Elite Worth the Upgrade?

Ben

Yawnder Comparisons · Updated October 2026

Paterson II is Sealy’s more attainable Posturepedic Plus Hybrid; High Point II is the flagship Posturepedic Elite Hybrid. Both combine memory foam with individually encased coils, but High Point II adds a deeper comfort system, more aggressive cooling and a higher price.

Paterson II vs High Point II at a glance

Why choose Paterson II?

The Paterson II Hybrid already includes the ingredients many shoppers are actually looking for: gel memory foam, PrecisionFit coils, a reinforced DuraFlex coil edge and adjustable-base compatibility. Its 13-inch profile is substantial without pushing into flagship pricing.

If Paterson II Medium feels good to you, the fact that High Point II has more foam is not automatically a reason to spend more. More material changes the feel; it does not guarantee a better fit.

Why choose High Point II?

High Point II earns its premium through comfort and cooling upgrades. The deeper foam package creates more contouring, and Sealy’s Elite cooling treatment is stronger than the moisture-management approach used on Paterson II.

High Point II is especially worth trying if you are a pressure-sensitive side sleeper, run hot, or simply prefer a thicker, more enveloping hybrid.

Motion and edge support

Both use individually encased coils, which generally isolate movement better than an interconnected innerspring. Both also reinforce the perimeter. We have not instrument-tested these exact 2026 generations head-to-head, so we are not assigning invented motion or edge scores.

Which firmness should you pick?

  • Side sleepers: Soft in either line; High Point II Soft if you want the deepest cradle.
  • Back sleepers: Medium is the safest starting point.
  • Stomach sleepers: Firm is the logical choice if hip sink is a concern.
  • Couples with different positions: Medium usually offers the least polarizing balance.

Our recommendation

Start at Paterson II and work upward. If you lie on High Point II and clearly prefer its deeper cushioning or cooler surface, the upgrade has a purpose. If the feel difference is small to you, keep the money and choose Paterson II.
