YAWNDER MATTRESS REVIEW
Disclosure and method: Yawnder sells the Bear Elite Ultra and Elite Hybrid. This guide evaluates Bear’s published specifications and terms; it does not report a hands-on test of the Elite Ultra. Price and policies vary by seller.
Our Verdict
The Bear Elite Ultra Hybrid is a premium option for shoppers comparing cooling-oriented hybrids with multiple firmness choices. Bear adds a microcoil comfort layer and includes its CoolForce layer as standard on the Ultra. Those features distinguish it from the Elite Hybrid, but whether the upgrade is worthwhile depends on the price difference and the feel you prefer.
Bear describes the Ultra as 13.5 inches and offers Soft, Medium and Firm. Its cooling materials are passive rather than a powered cooling system. We have not tested this specific model, so we cannot independently score its cooling, motion isolation, edge support or durability.

Construction and Cooling
Bear describes a quilted Celliant cover, cooling quilt foam with CoolForce, copper-infused memory foam, responsive and transition foams, a microcoil comfort layer, zoned Ascension coils and base foam. The company identifies microcoils as compact individually wrapped steel coils. Check the exact configuration and current product specifications when buying.
Microcoils and the deeper coil unit serve different roles within the mattress. Their presence does not on its own prove better durability or pressure relief. The CoolForce layer includes phase-change material intended to manage heat, but it does not actively circulate cooled air. Cool-to-the-touch fabric is not a guarantee of a cooler night with every set of sheets and protector.
Bear markets Celliant and the mattress around recovery. We have not verified a model-specific clinical benefit and do not treat it as a medical device or a substitute for care.
Which Firmness Should You Choose?
Soft
Consider Soft if you sleep on your side and usually need additional cushioning at the shoulder and hip. Lighter people may perceive a mattress as firmer because they compress the layers less.
Medium
Medium is a starting point for mixed sleeping positions or couples seeking a compromise. Check for comfortable pressure relief and support in your actual sleeping position.
Firm
Firm may appeal to people who prefer less surface give, including some stomach sleepers. Test the hips and shoulders: a firm label does not guarantee the right fit.
Bear supplies its own numerical firmness descriptions. They are not standardized across brands, and we have not assigned the Ultra a Yawnder test score.
Size, base and setup
Bear lists a queen at 60 by 80 inches and approximately 115 pounds; king is listed at 76 by 80 inches and 145 pounds. At 13.5 inches tall, check the combined height of your mattress and foundation, and the pocket depth of your sheets. Arrange help moving or setting up the bed. Bear also lists a split king as two separate Twin XL pieces; select two if purchasing the set.
Bear recommends a firm, flat, sturdy foundation or an adjustable base. For a slatted base, its product page specifies slats less than 5.5 inches apart and does not recommend a box spring. Confirm the current base and warranty requirements before purchase; delivery and optional setup availability can vary by seller and location.
Materials and certifications
Bear identifies the mattress as GREENGUARD Gold certified for low chemical emissions and says its foam is CertiPUR-US certified. These certifications address specific emissions and material criteria; they do not establish that every component is organic or predict individual comfort. Bear says the mattress is assembled in the United States using domestic and foreign components. See the manufacturer’s product specifications for current details.
Motion Isolation and Edge Support
Foam and two types of coil layers can each affect how the mattress responds to movement. To test it, have one partner lie still while the other changes position. Sit and lie near the perimeter to check how secure it feels when getting in and out. We do not have measured Ultra results for these categories.
Elite Hybrid vs. Elite Ultra Hybrid
| Feature | Elite Hybrid | Elite Ultra Hybrid |
|---|---|---|
| Bear-listed height | 14 inches | 13.5 inches |
| Firmness | Soft, Medium, Firm | Soft, Medium, Firm |
| Microcoils | Not listed as an Ultra-style layer | Included as a comfort layer |
| CoolForce | Cooling option may vary by configuration | Included standard according to Bear |
Compare the exact size, firmness, cooling configuration and seller’s final price. A taller profile or additional layer does not automatically mean better comfort. Our Elite Hybrid vs. Elite Ultra comparison examines the choice in more detail. Our Final Take
The Elite Ultra offers microcoils, included cooling materials and three firmness choices. Compare it with the Elite using matching configurations, and check the policy of the seller you choose. Personal comfort during a showroom visit or eligible trial is more useful than a feature list alone.
