Popular RV Mattress Sizes

When it comes to RV mattresses, the world of sizes is a bit different than your standard home mattresses. To make sure you get the perfect fit for your cozy mobile home, here’s a list of popular RV mattress sizes:

Short Queen: This is arguably the most popular RV mattress size, measuring 60 inches wide and 75 inches long. It’s a great option for couples who want a little more wiggle room than a standard twin or full, but still need to save space.

RV Queen: As the name suggests, this queen-sized mattress for RVs is the same size as your standard home queen, measuring 60 inches wide and 80 inches long. Perfect for couples who prioritize comfort and space.

RV Short King: A shorter version of the king-size mattress, measuring 72 inches wide and 75 inches long. This option allows for some extra width compared to a queen while still fitting in smaller RV bedrooms.

RV King: If you crave the luxury of a spacious king-size bed in your RV, consider the RV king which measures 72 inches wide and 80 inches long. Just be sure to ensure your RV bedroom has the space to accommodate it comfortably.

Full: Not as ubiquitous as the aforementioned sizes, the RV full offers 53 inches of width and 75 inches of length. It’s a good choice for solo sleepers or couples who appreciate a slightly broader bed than a twin.

Twin: Perfect for single sleepers or bunk beds, the RV twin mattress measures 38 inches wide and 75 inches long. Remember, there are also Twin XL size options available, offering an extra 5 inches of length.

Bunk: Bunk mattresses come in various sizes depending on the specific bunk setup in your RV. Some common variations include 28″ x 75″, 30″ x 75″, and 35″ x 79″.

Three-Quarter: This less common size offers a width of 48 inches and a length of 75 or 80 inches. It can be a good option for couples who don’t need the full width of a queen but still desire more space than a standard full.

It’s always best to measure the available space in your RV’s bedroom before buying a mattress to ensure the perfect fit. Additionally, remember that mattress thickness can also affect available headroom in your RV.

Moon Pod: Best Exclusive Relaxation Chair for Comfort

moon pod review

The Moon Pod is a new-age bean bag that got its start on Kickstarter, raising millions of dollars. It is now available to purchase on their stand-alone website. This is a lightweight piece of furniture that is versatile and great for family movie nights when you need some extra lounge options. Its unique shape means it’s versatile enough to be used as a chair, a lounge or even a small bed.

I received a space gray color Moon Pod review along with the removable cover which is washable. Below are my findings on using the Moon Pod for family nights which my kids love.

If you are a bigger fellow or maybe want to cuddle with your beau, check out the Super Moon Pod which is wider and built for two. You can read my full Super Moon Pod Review here. Either way, the Moon Pod weighs considerably less than competitors like the LoveSac or even a traditional bean bag.

Overview of the Moon Pod

Here’s a video overview of the Moon Pod. I’m 6’4 so taller than most people and therefore the Moon Pod probably wasn’t an ideal fit for my body size but I still enjoyed it in a sitting position. This isn’t your average beanbag and although the Moon Pod price was originally high, it has come down over the years.

Your Moon Pod will arrive in a box like the one below.

moon pod box

When you open the box you will find that the cover is in a separate bag as well as some instructions. The Moon Pod uses thousands of high friction microbeads that form together under pressure to create unique and versatile positions.

moon pod opened

The instruction card comes with some suggestion lounging positions.

moon pod instructions

Assembly is simple but it does take a little time getting the cover on since it is meant to fit snug. Just be persistent. Once inside you just zip it up and you are ready to go. The cover has a great feel and stretch to it and is made of spandex. If it gets a little dirty from a spill or dusty floors, it’s quick to take off and throw in the wash.

How Much Does the Moon Pod Cost?

A Moon Pod currently retails for $399. There’s only one size and it is often discounted. Right now you can get $150 off through this link.

My Moon Pod Findings and Moon Pod Review

For its size, I was surprised at how light the Moon Pod is. Other bean bags I’ve tried have been heavy and bulky, but the moon pod can be lifted and carried with one hand.

The Moon Pod claims to have a weightless, space-age feel that’s similar to a float tank. When we tried it out for ourselves we were impressed with how unique it did feel.

moon pod lounging
Its great for gaming, watching TV, reading, and just laying around. The moon pod provides versatility of comfort in three main positions: sitting in it like a chair, a recliner, or laying flat. Depending on how you approach your sit you can mold it to how you need it.

Unlike an old school bean bag chair, I didn’t feel like I was sliding downwards and have to constantly scoot up back into position. This really molds you your body and stays there. That’s what makes it the best bean bag chair for the money.

The moon pod found that sitting at a 135 degree angle provides the ultimate spinal support. Those with back issues with things like scoliosis could benefit from. This is a the perfect type of furniture to use with a weighted blanket

moon pod zero gravity

I know what you’re thinking; that’s a lot of money for a bean bag. If you look online at other bean bags you’ll find prices that are easily double that don’t offer this level of innovation.

If you decide the Moon Pod isn’t for you, that’s ok, you’ve got 14 days to send it back. Just remember to save all the original packaging to box it back up. You’ll also need to pay return shipping and a restocking fee.

MoonPod Review Final Thoughts

The Moon Pod is an impressive new take on the classic bean bag. They’re using pellets instead of chopped up foam so there’s a traditional feel to this. It brings me back to playing video games on the floor in the early 90’s. While it may not make you feel like you’re laying in a float tank, it’s definitely a new sensation that’s worth trying.  I do wish that it was a bit bigger given my size as I think that would give me even more ergonomic support.

The negative reviews surrounding Moon Pod are the high cost which is true but it does feel great and if you are looking for a uniquely engineered, ultra-supportive piece of furniture that is easy to move, this is definitely worth considering.

I would also like to see an outdoor cover for the Moon Pod so that I can bring it out on the lawn or patio when I’m hanging out with friends. The cover that it comes with is easy to wash and can be dried on tumble dry low heat but I would worry about water getting through the cover.

I don’t wash my Moon Pod often as it is still sort of a chore to put back on but it is easy to lint roll in between washings.

Moon Pod has launched bean bag technology into the space age for bean bag enthusiasts all over the world.

New MoonPod Updates

The availability of Moon Pod for trial will depend on your location and the retail stores in your area.

You can check the official website of Moon Pod to find the nearest retail store or showroom where you can try out their product. Alternatively, some online retailers offer a trial period or a return policy that allows you to try the Moon Pod for a certain period and return it if you’re not satisfied with the product.

It’s always a good idea to check the return and exchange policy of the seller before purchasing to ensure that you have the option to return or exchange the product if it doesn’t meet your expectations.

How Long Does the Moon Pod Last?

The durability and lifespan of a Moon Pod will depend on several factors, such as the frequency of use, the care and maintenance of the product, and the quality of the materials used.

The manufacturer claims that the Moon Pod is made with high-quality materials and is designed to last for many years with proper care. The microbead filling is expected to retain its shape and resilience over time, and the cover is made with a durable, machine-washable fabric that should hold up well with regular use.

However, it’s important to note that the lifespan of the Moon Pod may vary depending on how it’s used and how well it’s taken care of. For example, if the Moon Pod is exposed to moisture or direct sunlight for extended periods, this could shorten its lifespan.

To maximize the lifespan of your Moon Pod, it’s recommended to follow the care instructions provided by the manufacturer and avoid exposing it to harsh elements or abrasive surfaces. With proper care, the Moon Pod should last for several years.

The Moon Pod can accommodate people of different sizes and body types, including those who are overweight or obese. The microbead filling is designed to conform to your body shape and provide support, regardless of your weight or size.

However, it’s important to note that the Moon Pod has weight limits recommended by the manufacturer. The weight limit for the Moon Pod is around 300 pounds, but this can vary depending on the specific model and the way the product is used.

MoonPod vs LoveSac

The Moon Pod and Lovesac are both popular options for comfortable and supportive seating, but there are some key differences between the two products.

One of the main differences is the filling material. The Moon Pod is filled with high-density microbeads, while the Lovesac is filled with shredded foam. The microbeads in the Moon Pod are designed to conform to your body shape and provide a weightless sensation, while the foam in the Lovesac is designed to be more supportive and durable.

Another difference is the size and shape of the products. The Moon Pod is smaller and more compact, making it a good option for smaller spaces or for use as a portable seat. The Lovesac is larger and can be configured into different shapes, making it a good option for use as a couch or for lounging with friends.

In terms of price, the Moon Pod is generally less expensive than the Lovesac, making it a good option for those on a budget.

Overall, both the Moon Pod and Lovesac are high-quality seating options that can provide comfort and support. The choice between the two will ultimately come down to personal preference and specific needs, such as size, shape, and filling material.

MoonPod vs BeanBag Chair which is better?

The Moon Pod and traditional bean bag chairs are both types of seating that offer a relaxed and comfortable experience, but there are some differences between the two.

One of the main differences is the filling material. Traditional bean bag chairs are typically filled with small foam pellets or beads, while the Moon Pod is filled with high-density microbeads. The microbeads in the Moon Pod are designed to conform to your body shape and provide a weightless sensation, while the foam pellets in a traditional bean bag may compress over time and lose their shape.

Another difference is the shape and design of the products. The Moon Pod has a unique shape that is designed to provide support for your head, neck, and back, while traditional bean bag chairs are typically round or cylindrical in shape. The Moon Pod is also smaller and more compact than many traditional bean bags, making it a good option for smaller spaces.

In terms of price, the Moon Pod is generally more expensive than a traditional bean bag chair, but it may provide more comfort and support.

Overall, both the Moon Pod and traditional bean bag chairs are good options for relaxed seating, but the Moon Pod may offer some advantages in terms of support and durability due to its unique filling material and design.

Float Therapy

Moon Pod Mimics Flotation Therapy

The Moon Pod aims to mimic the zero-gravity feeling of flotation therapy, but there are some key differences to consider:

Similarities:

  • Weightlessness: Both create a sense of weightlessness by enveloping your body and supporting it evenly, reducing pressure points.
  • Relaxation: Both promote relaxation and stress relief due to the comfortable and supported environment.
  • Sensory deprivation: Both can offer a degree of sensory deprivation, allowing you to focus on your internal state and potentially improve focus and mindfulness.

Differences:

  • Environment: Flotation therapy takes place in a sealed pod filled with salt water, creating a more immersive and isolated experience. Moon Pod is a beanbag chair-like structure, offering less isolation and being open to the surrounding environment.
  • Temperature: Flotation pods are typically kept at skin temperature (around 93°F) to further enhance the weightless feeling. Moon Pod temperature depends on the room temperature and your body heat.
  • Movement: Flotation pods restrict movement completely, while Moon Pod allows for some movement within the structure.
  • Duration: Flotation therapy sessions typically last 60-90 minutes, while Moon Pod usage can be customized to your needs.

The Moon Pod comes in one standard size:

  • Dimensions: 55″ H x 48″ W x 48″ D

While there’s only one size option, the Moon Pod can comfortably accommodate one adult or potentially two smaller individuals.

However, there are currently five color options available for the Moon Pod cover:

  • Cosmic Ash: A dark grey
  • Moon Indigo: A dark blue
  • Space Gray: A lighter grey
  • Neptune Blue: A bright blue
  • Rose Quartz: A light pink

It’s important to note that color availability might vary depending on the retailer you purchase from. You can check the latest colors offered on the official Moon Pod website.

Here are some additional points to consider:

  • The Moon Pod cover is removable and washable, so you can easily change the color if you ever get tired of your initial choice.
  • Moon Pod also sells extra covers separately, allowing you to switch up the look and feel of your pod.
  • While the size isn’t customizable, Moon Pod offers a footrest that can be purchased separately to extend the seating area and provide additional comfort.

Cleaning the Mooon Pod

Keeping your Moon Pod clean and fresh is important for maintaining its comfort and aesthetics. Here’s a breakdown on how to clean your Moon Pod:

Outer Cover:

  • Removable and Machine Washable: The good news is the outer cover of your Moon Pod is removable and machine washable! This makes cleaning it a breeze.
  • Frequency: Moon Pod recommends washing the cover once every 1-2 months, depending on usage and any visible dirt or stains.
  • Washing Instructions:
    • Remove the cover: Unzip the full-length zipper and carefully remove the cover from the Moon Pod.
    • Machine wash: Follow the care instructions on the cover’s tag. Most Moon Pod covers are made of soft fleece and can be machine washed with cold water and gentle detergent.
    • Air dry or tumble dry low: Avoid high heat settings to prevent shrinkage.
    • Reattach the cover: Once the cover is clean and dry, simply zip it back onto the Moon Pod for continued enjoyment.

Inner Liner (Moon Pod Pro only):

  • Not Removable: Unfortunately, the inner liner of the Moon Pod Pro is not removable. This means you can’t physically take it out to clean it.
  • Spot Cleaning: However, you can still address any spills or stains on the inner liner through spot cleaning.
    • Use a damp cloth: Gently dab the affected area with a clean, damp cloth to remove any surface dirt or stains.
    • Mild soap (optional): For tougher stains, you can use a mild soap solution, but be sure to rinse it thoroughly afterwards to avoid any residue.
  • Avoid harsh chemicals: Avoid using harsh chemicals or cleaning products, as they can damage the inner liner material.

Additional Tips:

  • Vacuuming: Occasionally vacuum the inside of the Moon Pod through the small zipper opening at the bottom (Moon Pod Pro) to remove any dust or debris that might have accumulated.
  • Shake it out: If there are any crumbs or small particles stuck inside the cover, you can try shaking the Moon Pod gently to dislodge them out.
  • Store it clean: When not in use, store your Moon Pod in a clean and dry place to prevent dust and dirt buildup.

MoonPod Complaints

While Moonpod enjoys generally positive reviews, some complaints have surfaced. Here’s a breakdown of common issues:

Product concerns:

  • Comfort: Not everyone finds the Moonpod comfortable, especially for extended periods. Some complain about poor back support, neck strain, or difficulty finding a stable sitting position.
  • Filling: Complaints about needing to add more filling to achieve the desired shape and support are common. This can be inconvenient and feel like the product wasn’t properly filled initially.
  • Durability: Some users report issues with the fabric tearing or the seams coming loose, particularly after extended use.

Customer service:

  • Return policy: The 14-day return window with buyer-paid return shipping can be inconvenient and expensive for those who find the Moonpod unsuitable.
  • Responsiveness: Some customers have reported difficulty reaching customer service or receiving slow responses to inquiries.

Other complaints:

  • Price: Some find the Moonpod overpriced for a beanbag chair, especially given the potential comfort and durability issues.
  • Shipping: Long shipping times have been reported by some customers.

It’s important to note that these are just a few reported complaints, and many Moonpod owners are very happy with their purchase.

MoonPod vs. Beanbag

Moonpods and beanbags both offer comfy places to chill, but there are some key differences between the two:

Shape and Support:

  • Beanbags: Traditional beanbags are typically formless and unsupportive, often leaving you sinking into the filling and struggling to find a comfortable position.
    Image of Traditional beanbag chair
  • Moonpods: Moonpods have a more defined, crescent-shaped design with an inner and outer shell. This provides better support for your back, neck, and head, allowing you to relax in a more ergonomic position.
    Image of Moonpod chair

Filling and Comfort:

  • Beanbags: Filled with loose polystyrene beads, traditional beanbags can feel lumpy and uneven, creating pressure points and discomfort. They also tend to lose their shape over time, requiring frequent reshaping.
  • Moonpods: Moonpods use high-density EPS beads that are smaller and more responsive, conforming to your body shape and providing a weightless, zero-gravity feel. The dual-membrane shell further distributes the filling evenly, maintaining the Moonpod’s shape and comfort for longer.

Material and Durability:

  • Beanbags: Often made from cheaper fabrics like nylon or canvas, traditional beanbags can be prone to tears, rips, and wear and tear.
  • Moonpods: Moonpods use a blend of soft, stretchy jersey fabric and a durable inner liner. This combination is more resistant to tears and spills, making Moonpods more durable and easier to clean.

Additional Features:

  • Beanbags: Typically offer basic functionality.
  • Moonpods: Some Moonpods come with additional features like armrests, side pockets, and removable covers, adding to their versatility and comfort.

Price:

  • Beanbags: Generally more affordable than Moonpods.
  • Moonpods: Come at a premium price due to their higher quality materials, construction, and unique features.

This mattress is SleepEZ’s most customizable option. It’s made with 100% natural latex and comes in four firmness levels: soft, medium, firm, and extra firm. You can also choose the thickness of each layer and add or remove toppers to create the perfect mattress for you.

In addition to these models, SleepEZ also offers a variety of pillows, mattress toppers, and adjustable bed frames.

The Roma Mattress by Sleep EZ is a latex, foam and organic cotton mattress that gives great support with good pressure relief. This mattress comes roll packed and shipped in a box. A queen size currently retails for $995. What makes this mattress special is that it is a dual sided mattress. Sleep EZ has taken their decades of experience in the mattress industry to develop a medium feel on one side and a firm feel on the other. This greatly increases your chances of loving the mattress but also makes it versatile so that if your preferences change over time, the Roma mattress will still work for you.

Overview of the Roma Mattress

Sleep EZ is a factory direct manufacturer. That means there is truly no middleman. You get factory direct pricing. Also, Sleep EZ has been in the mattress business for over 4 decades so they certainly know how to make a good mattress and will likely be around to honor a 10-year warranty. They are headquartered out of Arizona and have a showroom in Tempe.

The Roma comes roll packed which makes shipping to your door easy. Here’s a picture of it out of the box. You also get a free latex pillow with your purchase. If you order a king, queen or full size, they will also include two free latex pillows.

It will spring to full shape quickly since this is mostly a latex mattress and that means you can sleep on it a few hours after opening.  Here’s a video overview of the mattress explaining some of its benefits.

Construction of the Roma Mattress

This mattress is a dual firmness which means one side is firmer than the other. I really like this concept since it raises the likelihood that you will get the right firmness. And, if your needs change over time, you can always flip the mattress.

Below are the construction details as given by Sleep EZ.

  • 100% Natural Dunlop latex
  • The top 3″ layer is D65
  • The bottom 6″ layer is D85
  • CertiPur-Us foam is a part of the channel quilting.

How Much Does the Roma Cost?

Below are the prices of the mattress as listed on their site:

[table id=39 /]

My Roma Mattress Findings

Normally an all latex mattress won’t have a lot of sink, and if it does, it won’t “hug” you as much as a foam or pillow top mattress would. With the Roma, you get some foam that is quilted into the top layer which gives it a softer and plusher feel.

The picture below is with my 14 lb. bowling ball sinking into the mattress.

roma mattress sinkHere’s a video that illustrates motion transfer on the mattress. This doesn’t have as much motion transfer as an all latex mattress because there is a layer of foam just underneath the organic cotton cover. The latex underneath responds instantly but the foam will absorb a lot of the impact. This leads to less motion transfer and a softer feel.

My Roma Mattress Recommendation

The Roma has quite a bit going for it. It has an unassuming look but it is made with quality material. The durable latex will give this mattress a long life and the channel quilted foam gives you great pressure relief. I tried both sides of the Roma and as a side/stomach sleeper, the medium side felt best. Back and dedicated stomach sleepers will likely prefer the firmer side.

This mattress comes with a 10-year warranty. You have 90 days to try the mattress and if you don’t like it you can return it minus a $99 fee.

Sleep EZ vs. Avocado

Both SleepEZ and Avocado offer high-quality latex mattresses, but they have some key differences that might make one a better fit for you than the other. Here’s a comparison to help you decide:

Construction:

  • SleepEZ: Offers a wider range of options, including all-natural latex, organic latex, hybrid latex, and a budget-friendly Roma latex blend. They also allow customization of firmness levels for various layers in some models.
  • Avocado: Primarily focuses on certified organic latex mattresses with two firmness options (Green and Eco).

Price:

  • SleepEZ: Generally more affordable than Avocado, especially for the all-natural and hybrid models. The Roma and Organic lines are closer in price to Avocado.
  • Avocado: More expensive, particularly for the Green mattress. The Eco is slightly more competitive with SleepEZ’s Organic and Select Sleep lines.

Comfort and Support:

  • SleepEZ: Known for its bouncy and responsive feel due to the latex and potential coil combination in some models. Offers customizable firmness for some of their mattresses, catering to a wider range of preferences.
  • Avocado: Offers a plusher and more conforming feel due to the thicker comfort layer and quilted top. Provides good support for most sleepers, but might not be ideal for those who prefer a very firm mattress.

Sustainability and Certifications:

  • SleepEZ: Offers both non-organic and organic latex options.
  • Avocado: Focused on sustainability and certifications. All mattresses are GOLS, OEKO-TEX, and GOTS certified for organic materials.

Other factors to consider:

  • Trial period and warranty: Both offer generous trial periods (90 days for SleepEZ and 100 days for Avocado) and long warranties (20 years for SleepEZ and 10 years for Avocado).
  • Shipping and returns: Both companies offer free shipping and returns.
  • Customer reviews: Both SleepEZ and Avocado receive generally positive reviews from customers.

Sleep EZ Complaints

To understand Sleep EZ complaints, it’s important to consider both positive and negative feedback. Here’s an overview:

Positive reviews:

  • Comfort and quality: Many customers praise the comfort and support offered by Sleep EZ mattresses, often highlighting natural latex construction and customizable layers as key benefits.
  • Customer service: Positive feedback mentions knowledgeable and helpful customer service representatives.
  • Durability: Reviews often laud the longevity of Sleep EZ mattresses, with some customers reporting using them for over a decade.

Negative reviews:

  • Price: Sleep EZ mattresses tend to be higher-priced compared to some other brands, leading to complaints about value for money.
  • Delivery and customer service issues: Some customers have encountered issues with delayed deliveries or unresponsive customer service.
  • Not suitable for all: While many enjoy the firmness, others find Sleep EZ mattresses too firm or unsupportive.

Common complaints:

  • Price: The higher price point is a recurring complaint, especially for customers comparing against less expensive brands.
  • Firmness: While some adore the support, others find the firmness uncomfortable or unsuitable for their sleeping style.
  • Delivery delays: Occasional complaints mention delayed deliveries or difficulties scheduling delivery windows.
  • Return policy: Some customers report difficulties returning mattresses within the trial period.

Overall:

Sleep EZ mattresses boast many positive reviews praising their comfort, quality, and customer service. However, the higher price and potential firmness might not be for everyone. Researching and comparing with other brands before committing is always wise.

Awara Mattress: Stunning Comfort with Risky Return Policy

Awara Mattress Review

The Awara mattress has been the subject of a few controversies in recent years.

One of the biggest controversies is the company’s return policy. Awara offers a 365-night sleep trial, but customers are required to donate or discard their mattress if they want to return it. This can be difficult and expensive for customers, especially those who live in rural areas or who don’t have a vehicle.

Another controversy is the company’s customer service. Some customers have complained that it has been difficult to get in touch with customer service representatives, and that the representatives have been unhelpful when they do manage to reach them.

Finally, some customers have complained that their Awara mattresses have developed defects after a short period of time. These defects include sagging, lumps, and tears.

Despite these controversies, the Awara mattress is still a popular choice for many consumers. The mattress is well-made and offers good comfort and support. However, it is important to be aware of the company’s return policy and customer service issues before purchasing an Awara mattress.

Here is a summary of the Awara mattress controversies:

  • Difficult return policy: Customers are required to donate or discard their mattress if they want to return it.
  • Poor customer service: Some customers have complained that it has been difficult to get in touch with customer service representatives, and that the representatives have been unhelpful when they do manage to reach them.
  • Defects: Some customers have complained that their Awara mattresses have developed defects after a short period of time.

It is important to note that these controversies are not unique to Awara. Other mattress companies have also been criticized for their return policies, customer service, and product quality. However, it is important to be aware of these issues before making a purchase.

The Awara mattress is a hybrid mattress that combines both foam and coils to provide support and comfort. It is made with natural and organic materials, such as organic latex and cotton, as well as recycled steel coils. The Awara mattress is designed to be supportive and pressure-relieving, while also being environmentally friendly. It is also marketed as a durable and long-lasting mattress that can support a wide range of body types and sleeping positions. The Awara mattress comes with a 365-night sleep trial and a lifetime warranty.

The Awara mattress is a natural mattress made with Dunlop latex, cotton and a 5 zone pocket coil base. For the money, it’s hard to beat. To top it off the mattress comes with a 365 night trial period where you can basically have it for an entire year and if not happy, return it for a full refund. You also get the Awara Forever Warranty which protects you from defects as long as you own the mattress and an option to finance the mattress through Affirm for as low as 0% APR. A queen size retails for $1,499 but you can get one now at $1,299 through our discount code.

Overview of the Awara Mattress

The Awara will come shipped in a bag to your doorstep about a week after placing your order. It is roll packed which makes transport into your house and the room of your choice easy. Here’s a picture of the bag. Inside the bag it is sealed with plastic so don’t worry if it is left out in the rain.

Here’s what it looks like out of the bag.

Since this is an all natural with latex and springs, it expands almost instantly and is ready to sleep on right away. Here’s a picture of it just minutes after opening.

My Awara Findings

Being a natural mattress, it will skew firmer than a mattress made with foam. Here’s a picture of how much my 14 lb. bowling ball sinks on the mattress.

This mattress has a support system of 9-inch coils for proper alignment. This is a 5 zone pocket coil system which provides support where you need it and will evenly distribute weight. Firmer coils are found along the perimeter to provide better edge support.

Here’s a look inside the mattress where you can see each layer. Aside from the pocket coils and latex, there’s also a layer of wool which helps with temperature regulation.

Inside the Awara

This is what the inside of the top layer looks like.

awara top layer

The dunlop latex has tiny holes in it which are made when the latex is poured into a mold. This provides more breathability.

dunlop holes

The video below shows how each layer reacts inside the mattress. It is on the firmer end of the spectrum so you will sleep “on” this mattress rather than, “in” it.

Awara vs. Avocado

The Awara and Avocado mattresses are both hybrid mattresses made with natural and organic materials, but they have some differences that may influence your purchasing decision.

One of the main differences between the Awara and Avocado mattresses is the firmness level. The Awara is rated as a medium-firm mattress, while the Avocado comes in two firmness levels: medium-firm and firm. This means that the Avocado may be a better option for those who prefer a firmer mattress, while the Awara may be better suited for those who prefer a medium-firm feel.

Another difference is in the construction of the mattresses. The Awara has a simpler construction, with fewer layers than the Avocado. The Avocado has a more complex design, with more layers that include organic latex, wool, and other materials. This may result in a more customized feel for the sleeper and potentially better pressure relief.

The Avocado also offers the option to add a pillow-top for an additional fee, which can provide extra cushioning and comfort. The Awara does not have this option.

In terms of price, the Awara is generally less expensive than the Avocado. However, the Avocado does come with some additional features, such as the option to add a pillow-top and a longer warranty.

Overall, both mattresses are high-quality options made with natural and organic materials. The choice between the Awara and Avocado will largely depend on personal preferences for firmness level and construction, as well as budget considerations.

Awara vs. Birch Mattress

The Awara and Birch mattresses are both hybrid mattresses that feature natural and organic materials, but they have some differences that may influence your purchasing decision.

One of the main differences between the Awara and Birch mattresses is the firmness level. The Awara is rated as a medium-firm mattress, while the Birch comes in two firmness levels: medium and medium-firm. This means that the Birch may be a better option for those who prefer a slightly softer or firmer feel.

Another difference is in the construction of the mattresses. The Awara has a simpler construction, with fewer layers than the Birch. The Birch has a more complex design, with more layers that include organic latex, wool, and other materials. This may result in a more customized feel for the sleeper and potentially better pressure relief.

The Birch mattress also features a natural cotton cover that is free from harmful chemicals and has a soft, breathable feel. The Awara cover is made with organic cotton and wool, but it does not have the same level of certification and testing as the Birch cover.

In terms of price, the Awara is generally less expensive than the Birch. However, the Birch does come with some additional features, such as the option to choose between two firmness levels and a longer sleep trial period.

Overall, both mattresses are high-quality options made with natural and organic materials. The choice between the Awara and Birch will largely depend on personal preferences for firmness level, construction, and budget considerations.

Awara Mattress Warranty

The Awara mattress comes with a lifetime warranty, which is one of the longest warranties in the mattress industry. The warranty covers defects in materials and workmanship, including sagging greater than 1.5 inches, splits or cracks in the foam, and defects in the zipper or cover.

If a defect covered by the warranty occurs, Awara will repair or replace the mattress at no cost to the owner. The warranty is valid for the original purchaser of the mattress and is non-transferable.

It’s important to note that the warranty does not cover normal wear and tear, or damage caused by misuse or improper care. The mattress must be used with an appropriate foundation or bed frame, and proper care and maintenance must be followed to ensure that the mattress remains in good condition.

My Awara Recommendation

Natural mattresses are not only better for the planet but they usually last longer than foam mattresses. Natural latex is often more durable than foam giving the mattress a longer lifespan. You also get to sleep on this mattress right away and not have to worry about any off-gassing.

If you are primarily a back or stomach sleeper this is a wonderful mattress. If you prefer a firmer mattress and sleep on your side, this is also an excellent choice. For the money, it’s hard to beat the value you get with the Awara Mattress.

Awara vs. Awara Premier

Both Awara mattresses are constructed with similar materials, primarily organic latex, organic wool, and organic cotton, making them excellent choices for eco-conscious sleepers. However, they do have some key differences that might sway your decision towards one or the other.

Here’s a head-to-head comparison of Awara vs Awara Premier:

Choosing the right mattress:

  • For sleepers who prefer a softer, plusher feel with excellent pressure relief, the Awara might be a better choice.

  • If you’re a side sleeper, heavier individual, or prioritize superior motion isolation and edge support, the Awara Premier’s firmer feel and extra latex layer might be more suitable.

Ultimately, the best mattress for you depends on your individual preferences and sleeping style.

Here are some additional factors to consider:

  • Budget: The Awara Premier is more expensive than the Awara.
  • Trial period: Both mattresses come with a 100-night trial period, so you can try them out at home before making a final decision.
  • Warranty: Both mattresses have a lifetime warranty.

Awara Complaints

Awara, like any company, has its share of customer complaints. Here’s a summary of the most common ones I found:

Product:

  • Firmness: The Awara mattress is advertised as a 7/10 on the firmness scale, but many customers find it to be too firm, especially for side sleepers. This can be a problem for people who need more pressure relief or who prefer a softer mattress.

  • Durability: Some customers have reported that their Awara mattress has developed indentations or sagged over time. This is especially concerning given the mattress’s high price point.

  • Smell: Some customers have reported that their Awara mattress had a strong chemical odor when it was first delivered. This odor usually dissipates within a few days, but it can be off-putting for some people.

Delivery:

  • Delays: Some customers have experienced delays in their Awara mattress delivery. This can be frustrating, especially for people who are eager to start using their new mattress.

  • Damage: A few customers have reported that their Awara mattress was damaged when it was delivered. This can be a major inconvenience, as it can take several weeks to get a replacement mattress.

    Image of Awara mattress damaged

Customer service:

  • Difficulty reaching customer service: Some customers have had difficulty getting in touch with Awara customer service. This can be frustrating, especially when you have a problem with your mattress.

  • Slow response times: Once they do get in touch with customer service, some customers have reported long wait times for a response. This can be aggravating, especially when you need help urgently.

It’s important to note that these are just some of the complaints that I found. Not everyone who buys an Awara mattress will have a bad experience. However, it’s important to be aware of these potential issues before you make a purchase.

Here are some things you can do to mitigate the risk of having a negative experience with Awara:

  • Read reviews from other customers before you buy.
  • Make sure you understand the company’s return policy.
  • Be patient when dealing with customer service.

Why is the Awara So Cheap?

The Awara mattress being significantly cheaper than some comparable natural mattresses can be attributed to a few factors:

Material choices:

  • Latex: While Awara uses high-quality Dunlop latex, some luxury natural mattresses might utilize Talalay latex, a rarer and potentially more expensive variety.
  • Organic cotton: Awara uses a blend of organic cotton and polyester in its cover, while some higher-end brands might use 100% organic cotton or other natural materials like wool or hemp.
  • Innerspring units: Awara uses a pocketed coil innerspring, which is common and durable, but some luxury brands might employ individually wrapped, higher-coil-count units for added support and refinement.

Construction and design:

  • Simpler design: Awara’s construction relies on a relatively straightforward layer system compared to some luxury mattresses with more complex layering and intricate quilting techniques.
  • Direct-to-consumer model: Awara cuts out the middleman by selling directly to consumers, eliminating retail markups and associated overhead costs.

Focus on value:

  • Competitive pricing: Awara prioritizes offering a high-quality natural mattress at an accessible price point to make it more widely attainable.
  • Limited customization: Unlike some luxury brands with extensive customization options, Awara offers only one firmness level and limited size options, streamlining production and potentially reducing costs.

It’s important to remember that “less expensive” doesn’t necessarily mean “less quality.” Awara consistently receives positive reviews for its comfort, support, and durability, making it a good value for many people. However, if you prioritize specific features or materials like Talalay latex or 100% organic cotton, you might need to explore pricier options.

Lovesac Review 2024 Update

The Lovesac Sactional is the most versatile couch I have ever owned. It is also the most durable. I bought my first Sactional back in July of 2013. Just recently I bought another back and seat to expand it as my family is growing. Although this furniture isn’t cheap, you get what you pay for which is quality that will stand the test of time and kids.

How Much Does the Lovesac Cost?

A lot! Don’t get me wrong, it’s a wonderful, versatile couch and will last year and year but it to get a Lovesac you will want to lounge in for movie marathons will set you back at least $5,000. A deluxe setup will be easily over $15,000.  That’s why it’s so important to wait for a LoveSac sale and study the LoveSac warranty like the bible. Look, if you’re tired of Ikea furniture and want to upgrade to something more adult, this will last from when your kids are in diapers to when they are ready to take the keys to the minivan. So in this regard, the construction and warranty justify the lovesac cost.

Unboxing the Lovesac Sactional

After placing your order, your Sactional should arrive in a couple of weeks. Mine arrived in 8 days after ordering. You will get a tracking notification when it ships and an estimate of when it will be delivered. No need to be present on the delivery day either.

I ordered 1 back and one seat as I am expanding my existing Sactional. Here’s what that looks like in terms of packaging.  The big box is the base and the medium size box is the back and the small box is the cover.

How to Setup the Lovesac Sactional

If you have put together legos, then setting up your Sactional should be a breeze. The video below shows all the pieces needed to get started.

All the pieces come wrapped in plastic so they don’t get wet during delivery.

Sactional Cover

The back and seat cushion can be found tucked underneath the base as seen in the picture below.

Sactional Base cushions

The covers are easy to slip on. To secure them you just velcro them to the bottom. In the 4 years I have owned my sactional they have never come loose and are easy to detach if you want to wash them.

Sactional Side Attachment

The seat cushions are made with quality zippers that will hold up through multiple washes.

The next step is to connect the base to the back. You get the following pieces to do this. A metal collar that holds the pieces together at the middle as seen below.

Sactional Metal Connector

A wooden base connector where the feet of two different bases can attach to secure the bottom. If you have hardwood floors, there are some wool pads to put on the feet so that you don’t leave any scratches.

Here’s a look as I am setting up the sactional.

Sactional Setup

Here’s another picture of what it looks like all complete. The blanket in the photo is also a Lovesac blanket. These blankets are super soft, machine washable and even have a foot pocket to keep your feet cozy.

Completed Sactional

There are lots of ways to configure your sactional which is why it is so valuable. If you move frequently or just grow tired of your current configuration, you can switch up the look easily. Not only that but you can also buy different covers.

Below is a picture of some of the many configurations for a lovesac with 5 sides and 5 bases like mine. If you go to their website and choose the number of bases and sides you can get a configuration guide for your number of pieces.

Does the Lovesac Ever Go On Sale?

Absolutely! Just about every month you will find a Lovesac sale. If you are paying full price for a LoveSac, you are paying the sucker price.  The best time to buy a lovesace is Black Friday, Memorial Day or 4th of July. This is when you will find the best Lovesac prices.

As much as you want it, there is no lovesac available at Costco. Costco does not sell the Lovesac.

Lovesac Return Policy

According to the Lovesac website, you get 60 days to figure out if you want to keep your Lovesac. However, you will not be reimbursed for any shipping or delivery fees.

We believe in Total Comfort, and a big part of that is making sure you are completely satisfied with your purchase. But if you’d like to make a return for any reason, you can return it by contacting Customer Love to coordinate your return authorization. Eligible merchandise may be returned within 60 days from the date you received it for a full refund or exchange. Custom merchandise, floor model, and clearance item sales are final, and returns cannot be issued. Any shipping and/or delivery fees are non-refundable. Gift Card purchases cannot be cancelled or returned. Merchandise is eligible for a one-time price adjustment within 14 days of the date ordered. Floor models and clearance merchandise are not eligible for price adjustment. Financing terms cannot be adjusted after a purchase is made. Proof of purchase is required for all returns, exchanges, warranties, and refunds.

My Lovesac Sactional Recommendation

I have had my original sactional with 4 bases and 4 sides for over 4 years now and it has held up extremely well. I have configured it different ways many times to use it as a bed when guests come. Over time some of the legs have broken but I was able to get free replacement legs, no problem. Other than that the couch has held up perfectly after multiple washes and kids climbing and jumping on it.

The Sactional is an investment as their entry-level configuration with 2 seats and 4 sides currently retail at $1,700 however this couch has held up longer than any other couch I have owned. We have bought Ikea couches and sectionals in the past but the fabric on them was not machine washable and faded quickly. I also found that the cushions on the Lovesac are of better quality and last much longer. If you have pets that climb on furniture this would make it worth it alone.

In 2021 Lovesac Introduced the StealthTech technology which adds Harmon Kardon speakers inside your Lovesac couch for the ultimate surround sound experience that you can feel and hear but not see. It’s a great way to get surround sound without ugly speakers and wires everywhere. Check out this Stealth Tech video below

Best Lovesac Alternative

Both Homebody and Lovesac offer modular, comfortable couches, but some key differences might make Homebody a better choice for you, depending on your priorities:

Comfort and Support:

  • Cushioning: Homebody uses a five-layer eco-friendly down alternative foam system with varying densities for plushness and support. Lovesac uses primarily foam cushions, with some softer options available. Some users find Homebody’s cushions to be more comfortable and supportive, especially for long periods of lounging. Advantage, Homebody.

    Image of Homebody Couch Cushions
  • Headrest: Homebody’s couches, particularly the recliner option, have an adjustable headrest for additional neck and head support. Lovesac couches lack built-in headrests, requiring separate pillows or accessories. Homebody just contours better.

Modular Flexibility:

  • Connecting System: Homebody uses U-shaped connectors that are easier to detach and reconfigure than Lovesac’s floor-based connectors. This makes Homebody quicker and more convenient to adjust your couch layout.
  • Configuration Options: Both offer a variety of modular configurations, but Homebody generally has more options for chaise lounges, recliners, and corner pieces, allowing for greater customization.

Other Considerations:

  • Durability: Both are built with quality materials, but Homebody uses sustainable, eco-friendly down alternatives for its cushions, which some may prefer.
  • Price: Homebody couches are generally more expensive than Lovesac’s, although both offer occasional promotions and discounts.
  • Aesthetics: Both come in a range of stylish fabrics and colors, so you can choose the one that best suits your taste.

Why is Vestek So Expensive?

Vetsak furniture’s price tag can be considered steep compared to some other furniture brands, and there are several factors contributing to that:

High-quality materials and construction: Vetsak emphasizes using premium materials like durable fabrics, recycled foam filling, and solid wood frames. This ensures longevity and comfort, but naturally raises the cost compared to using cheaper materials.

Modular design and customization: The flexibility of their modular sofas and beanbags, allowing for personalized configurations and cover changes, adds to the complexity of production and ultimately the price.

Hand-crafted elements: Some of their beanbags and furniture parts are hand-stitched or crafted with attention to detail, which adds to the labor cost and exclusivity.

European manufacturing: Unlike some brands that outsource production to lower-cost regions, Vetsak manufactures its furniture in Europe, adhering to stricter quality standards and potentially higher labor costs.

Brand reputation and design: Vetsak has cultivated a unique brand image associated with innovative design, comfort, and sustainability. This premium positioning often justifies a higher price point compared to mass-produced furniture.

Direct-to-consumer model: By selling directly to customers through their website and showrooms, Vetsak cuts out the costs associated with traditional retail markups, but the overall price still reflects the cost of running their own sales and distribution channels.

Ultimately, whether vetsak furniture is “worth” the price is a subjective decision based on individual priorities and budget. If you value high-quality materials, innovative design, customization, and comfort, the cost might be justified. However, if you’re looking for the most affordable furniture option, vetsak might not be the best choice.

Here are some additional factors to consider:

  • Versatility and longevity: Vetsak furniture is designed to be modular and adaptable, potentially lasting longer and serving multiple purposes compared to single-use pieces.
  • Sustainable practices: Vetsak uses recycled materials in some of their products and offers refill options for beanbags, reducing environmental impact and potentially justifying a higher initial cost.
  • Investment in comfort and design: If you prioritize a luxurious and personalized living space, vetsak furniture might be a worthwhile investment for you.

Vetsak Quality

Vetsak Fabric Durability:

Vetsak uses high-quality fabrics for their furniture, renowned for their durability and resilience. Here’s a breakdown of their fabric options and their key strengths:

  • Canvas: This cotton canvas fabric is strong, colorfast, and has a timeless aesthetic, perfect for adding a touch of rustic charm to your space.
  • Velvet: This luxurious velvet fabric is incredibly soft and smooth, adding a touch of elegance to any room. While delicate, it’s stain-resistant and easy to care for.

Vetsak Warranty:

Vetsak offers a comprehensive warranty on their furniture, providing peace of mind for your purchase:

  • 5-year frame warranty: Covers any defects in the wooden frame construction.
  • 2-year fabric warranty: Covers any manufacturing defects in the fabric, such as tearing or fading.

It’s important to note that the warranty excludes normal wear and tear, improper use, and accidental damage. You can find detailed information about the warranty terms and conditions on the vetsak website.

Additional Tips for Fabric Care:

To ensure the longevity of your vetsak furniture, follow these care tips:

  • Remove and wash covers regularly according to the specific fabric care instructions.
  • Vacuum upholstery regularly to remove dust and debris.
  • Avoid placing furniture in direct sunlight to prevent fading.
  • Protect furniture from spills and stains by using coasters and throws.

By choosing the right fabric and caring for it properly, you can enjoy your vetsak furniture for many years to come.

How To Clean the Vetsak

Washing Covers:

  • Check the care label: The care label attached to your vetsak covers will provide specific washing instructions based on the fabric type. Generally, most vetsak covers are machine-washable, but some may require hand-washing or dry cleaning.
  • Pre-treat any stains: If your covers have any stains, pre-treat them with a stain remover suitable for the fabric type before washing. Follow the instructions on the stain remover carefully.
  • Turn covers inside out: This will help protect the fabric from abrasion during washing.
  • Use a gentle laundry detergent: Avoid using harsh detergents or bleach, as this can damage the fabric. A gentle detergent for delicates is recommended.
  • Wash on a cold or delicate cycle: This will help prevent the fabric from shrinking or fading.
  • Air dry or tumble dry on low heat: Hang your covers to air dry if possible, as this is the gentlest option. If you need to tumble dry, use the lowest heat setting and remove the covers promptly once the cycle is complete.

Cleaning Filling:

  • Vacuum regularly: Regular vacuuming will help remove dust and debris from the filling of your vetsak beanbag. Use the upholstery attachment for your vacuum for optimal results.
  • Spot clean spills: If you spill something on your beanbag, immediately blot up as much of the liquid as possible with a clean, absorbent cloth. Avoid rubbing, as this can spread the stain. If necessary, use a mild cleaning solution suitable for the fabric type to spot clean the affected area.
  • Do not wash the filling: The filling of your vetsak beanbag is not washable and should never be submerged in water. If the filling gets wet, you will need to replace it.

Cleaning the Frame:

  • Dust regularly: Use a clean, dry cloth to dust the frame of your vetsak sofa or beanbag.
  • Wipe down with a damp cloth: For tougher dirt or grime, you can wipe down the frame with a damp cloth. Avoid using harsh cleaning products, as these can damage the finish.
  • Do not use water on wooden frames: If your vetsak sofa has a wooden frame, avoid getting it wet, as this can warp the wood.

Here are some additional tips for maintaining your vetsak furniture:

  • Store covers in a cool, dry place when not in use.
  • Avoid placing your furniture in direct sunlight, as this can fade the fabric.
  • Do not jump or roughhouse on your furniture.
  • Have your furniture professionally cleaned every few years, especially if you have pets or children.

By following these tips, you can keep your vetsak furniture looking and feeling its best for many years to come.

Pura Smart Diffuser Review

Pura Review
As modern homes become sanctuaries, finding ways to optimize ambiance is crucial. Pura’s smart diffuser system stands out as a revolutionary way to effortlessly curate a serene environment.

Pura: A Fusion of Technology and Aromatherapy

Pura’s advanced diffuser system blends the latest technology with the therapeutic effects of aromatherapy. 2020 witnessed a surge in candle purchases, an indication of the increasing demand for ambiance-enhancing products. However, for some, the repetitive expenses and potential risks associated with burning candles were no longer practical. This is where Pura shines.

A Seamless Experience from Unboxing to First Whiff

Unpacking the Pura system is just the beginning of a streamlined experience. The accompanying Pura app is intuitive, offering visual instructions for adding up to two distinct scents simultaneously. The setup process is swift and straightforward: connect the diffuser to WiFi, select your desired aroma, adjust the intensity, and let the room bask in a refreshing scent.

Dual-Scent Reservoirs: Diversify Your Aroma

One of Pura’s standout features is its ability to house two separate scents. This innovative design allows users to switch between or blend fragrances with a simple touch on their smartphone. The potential combinations are vast, ensuring that there’s always a perfect scent for every mood and occasion.

Shopping for Scents: Simplified with Pura App

Pura has astutely recognized users’ desires for variety. Their app doesn’t just control the device; it’s a portal to discover and purchase new aromas. With an extensive collection that includes brand-name, limited-edition, and Pura-exclusive fragrances, finding a scent that resonates is almost guaranteed. Furthermore, Pura’s cost-effective refill system is not only economical but also longer-lasting. As an example, their Thymes Frasier Fir scent lasts upwards of 800 hours, providing consistent ambiance without frequent replacements.

Remote Control: The Power to Set the Mood Anywhere

The mobility era has ushered in the desire for control from any location. With the Pura app, adjusting scent intensity from afar is seamless. This feature is especially handy for those who entertain guests or simply want to return to a freshly scented home.

Safety and Savings: A Winning Combination

Beyond its luxurious features, Pura’s smart diffuser eliminates concerns about potential fire hazards associated with candles. No more second-guessing if a candle was extinguished before leaving home. Additionally, the initial investment in a Pura diffuser can equate to the cost of a couple of premium candles, making it a financially wise choice in the long run. For those who prioritize aromatic ambiance and safety, Pura is undoubtedly the best smart diffuser on the market. Its blend of advanced technology, cost-effectiveness, and diverse scent options make it an essential addition to every modern home.

Environmental Benefits: A Greener Choice with Pura

Going beyond the immediate ambiance and therapeutic effects, it’s imperative to consider the environmental footprint of our choices. Pura’s smart diffuser emerges as an eco-friendly alternative to traditional ambiance-enhancing methods.

Reduced Waste: A Sustainable Approach

Traditional candles, once burned out, leave behind containers, wicks, and residual wax, contributing to household waste. Pura’s refills, on the other hand, are designed with sustainability in mind. The minimal packaging and optimized design ensure that there’s a significant reduction in waste, aligning with eco-conscious living standards.

Energy Efficiency: Modern Tech with Minimal Consumption

Pura’s design harnesses modern technological advancements to ensure energy efficiency. Unlike heated oil diffusers or burners that demand consistent energy input, Pura smartly diffuses scents without excessive power consumption, ensuring that your ambiance does not come at the cost of a hefty electricity bill.

Non-Toxic Emissions: Breathe Pure with Pura

Another pivotal concern with burning candles, especially those made from paraffin, is the release of harmful toxins into the air. Pura’s system utilizes high-quality oils that diffuse clean scents, ensuring the air in your home remains as pure as nature intended. This not only benefits the environment but also ensures a healthier living space for residents.

Extending Product Life: A Commitment to Durability

The Pura diffuser is constructed with longevity in mind. Instead of continuously purchasing disposable items, investing in a durable product like Pura reduces the frequency of replacements. This commitment to product lifespan reduces both economic and environmental costs in the long run.

Pura’s Contribution to a Sustainable Future

In a world increasingly leaning towards sustainable choices, Pura’s smart diffuser stands out not just for its superior aromatic capabilities but also its commitment to eco-friendly practices. By choosing Pura, users aren’t only elevating their living spaces but are also making a positive contribution to our planet.

How To Use Pura

To use Pura, simply:

  1. Plug the Pura device into a regular outlet.
  2. Download the Pura app on your smartphone or tablet.
  3. Scan the QR code on your Pura device to connect it to the app.
  4. Insert the scent vials you want to use into the Pura device.
  5. Open the Pura app and select the scents and intensity you want to diffuse.
  6. Set a schedule for when you want the scents to diffuse.

You can also use the Pura app to control the Pura device remotely, even when you’re not at home. For example, you can turn the diffuser on or off, change the scent intensity, or update the schedule.

The Pura device uses a patented technology called Puralast™ to diffuse the scents. Puralast™ heats the scent oils to a specific temperature, turning them into a vapor that is then dispersed into the air. This process ensures that the scents are evenly diffused throughout your home, without any harsh chemicals or fragrances.

The Pura diffuser has grown in popularity for several reasons, catering to a combination of modern convenience, scent customization, and safety concerns:

Smart Home Features:

    • App Control: Pura app allows customizing fragrance intensity, setting schedules and timers, and even blending two scents for unique combinations. This level of control elevates the fragrance experience beyond traditional diffusers.
    • Easy to Use: Pairing the diffuser with your phone is simple, and the app interface is intuitive for adjusting settings.

Cleanliness and Safety:

    • No Smoke or Soot: Unlike candles, Pura doesn’t produce any smoke or soot, eliminating potential fire hazards and keeping the air cleaner. This makes it particularly appealing to families with pets or children.
    • Sustainable Design: The fragrance vials are recyclable, and the diffuser itself is energy-efficient, making it a more eco-friendly choice.

Scent Customization:

    • Wide Variety of Scents: Pura offers a diverse range of fragrances, including collaborations with popular candle brands like NEST New York and Capri Blue. This ensures you’ll find something to match your preferences.
    • Dual-Scent System: The ability to house two separate scents and blend them allows for creative combinations and personalized aroma profiles for different moods or occasions.

Other Perks:

    • Long-lasting Fragrance: Individual vials can last for weeks, and the Puralast™ technology further extends the scent life through efficient diffusion.
    • Cost-effective: While the initial purchase might seem higher than candles, the long-lasting vials and energy efficiency make Pura a potentially cost-effective option in the long run.

It’s important to note that some users mention the app connectivity and initial cost as potential drawbacks. However, considering the modern features, safety benefits, and customization options, the Pura diffuser has carved out a unique niche in the home fragrance market, garnering significant popularity.

Pura vs. Traditional Diffuser

Choosing between Pura and a traditional diffuser depends on your needs and preferences. Here’s a breakdown of the key differences to help you decide:

Features:

    • Pura: App control for scent intensity, schedules, blending, and nightlight; dual-scent system; uses fragrance vials (replaceable); rechargeable or plug-in options.
    • Traditional Diffuser: Various types (reed, ultrasonic, nebulizing) with different mechanisms; limited to one scent at a time; uses essential oils/fragrances (direct placement or water mixture).

Customization:

    • Pura: High level of control over scent intensity, timing, and blending; wider variety of fragrances available.
    • Traditional Diffuser: Limited customization, mostly relies on the diffusion properties of the chosen type.

Maintenance:

    • Pura: Requires app setup and phone connectivity; fragrance vials need replacing; occasional cleaning recommended.
    • Traditional Diffuser: Varies by type; reed diffusers require refilling the vessel and flipping reeds; ultrasonic diffusers need water refill and occasional cleaning.

Safety:

    • Pura: No open flame or heat, ideal for families with pets or children.
    • Traditional Diffuser: Some types, like candles, pose fire hazards; some essential oils require caution with pets and children.

Cost:

    • Pura: Higher initial cost for the device and fragrance vials.
    • Traditional Diffuser: Varies by type, but generally lower initial cost, with refillable options available.

Overall:

    • Pura: Ideal for those who want a modern, customizable, and safe fragrance experience with smart home features.
    • Traditional Diffuser: A classic option offering a wider range of styles and a more natural approach to scenting your home.

Ultimately, the best choice depends on your individual priorities. If you value smart home integration, precise scent control, and safety, Pura might be a good fit. But if you prefer a simpler, more affordable option with a classic aesthetic, a traditional diffuser might be the way to go.

  • AutoSet technology: The AirMini AutoSet model automatically adjusts the pressure of the air that is delivered to the user based on their needs.
  • Bluetooth connectivity: The AirMini can be connected to a smartphone app that allows users to track their sleep therapy data and make adjustments to their settings.

The AirMini is a great option for people with sleep apnea who are looking for a portable and convenient CPAP machine. It is also a good option for people who find traditional CPAP machines to be too bulky or noisy.

Resmed Mini Vs. A Regular Sized CPAP

The ResMed AirMini and a regular-sized CPAP machine both treat sleep apnea by delivering continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) to keep your airway open during sleep. However, they differ in several key ways:

Size and Portability:

  • AirMini: This is the world’s smallest CPAP machine, weighing only 10.6 ounces and about the size of a smartphone. It’s perfect for travel or for those who find traditional machines bulky.
Image of ResMed AirMini CPAP machine next to a smartphone for size comparison
  • Regular-sized CPAP: These machines are typically much larger and heavier, weighing around 2-5 pounds. They are not as portable and can be inconvenient to travel with.

Noise:

  • AirMini: One of the quietest CPAP machines on the market, with a sound level of only 29 decibels, similar to a quiet whisper.
  • Regular-sized CPAP: Can be louder, ranging from 30-45 decibels, comparable to a normal conversation.

Humidification:

  • AirMini: Uses a waterless humidification system called HumidX, which is convenient and eliminates the need for distilled water.
  • Regular-sized CPAP: Most models have built-in humidifiers that require distilled water to be added regularly.

Features:

  • AirMini: Offers features like AutoSet technology that automatically adjusts pressure, Bluetooth connectivity for tracking sleep data via a smartphone app, and optional heated tubing for added comfort.
  • Regular-sized CPAP: May have similar features like AutoSet and heated tubing, but some models lack Bluetooth connectivity or have more basic options.

Price:

  • AirMini: Generally more expensive than regular-sized CPAP machines due to its compact size and advanced features.
  • Regular-sized CPAP: Wider range of prices depending on features and brand.

Suitability:

  • AirMini: Ideal for travelers, those with limited space, or people who find traditional machines bulky or noisy.
  • Regular-sized CPAP: Suitable for most people with sleep apnea, especially those who require high pressure settings or prefer a more traditional setup.

Advantages of a Mini CPAP

There are several advantages to using a mini CPAP machine like the ResMed AirMini compared to a regular-sized CPAP:

Portability and Travel:

  • Size and weight: Mini CPAPs are significantly smaller and lighter, making them perfect for travel or overnight trips. The AirMini, for example, weighs only 10.6 ounces and fits in the palm of your hand.
  • Convenience: They easily fit in suitcases or backpacks, eliminating the need for bulky travel CPAP cases.
  • Discreetness: Their compact size makes them more discreet and less noticeable during use, especially helpful for public spaces or shared accommodations.

Noise Level:

  • Quieter operation: Mini CPAPs tend to be quieter than their larger counterparts, often with sound levels below 30 decibels, comparable to a whisper. This can significantly improve sleep quality for both the user and their partner.

Humidification:

  • Waterless options: Some mini CPAPs, like the AirMini, offer waterless humidification systems like HumidX. This eliminates the need for distilled water and its associated refills, maintenance, and potential leakage.

Ease of Use:

  • Simplified design: Mini CPAPs often have fewer buttons and a more intuitive interface, making them easier to use and adjust settings.
  • Smartphone connectivity: Some models offer Bluetooth connectivity and companion apps for data tracking, adjustments, and remote monitoring.

Other Advantages:

  • Increased compliance: The portability and convenience of mini CPAPs can encourage better adherence to sleep therapy, leading to improved health outcomes.
  • Discrete storage: Their small size allows for easier storage at home or on the go, reducing clutter and freeing up space.
  • Environmental benefits: Waterless humidification systems can lessen the environmental impact of CPAP therapy by reducing water usage.

However, it’s important to consider that mini CPAPs may not be for everyone. They may not be suitable for:

  • Individuals requiring high pressure settings: Some mini CPAPs have lower pressure limits than regular-sized machines.
  • People with complex sleep apnea: They may need features not available on all mini CPAPs.
  • Those who prefer mask options not offered by mini CPAPs: Mini CPAPs may have compatible masks suitable for most users, but options can be limited compared to standard machines.

  • Limited mask options: While they offer several mask options, they may not have as many as some other brands.

CPAP Machines Similar to the Resmed Airmini

The ResMed AirMini is a popular choice for portable CPAP machines, but there are certainly other options out there depending on your specific needs and priorities. Here are a few CPAPs similar to the AirMini:

  • Philips DreamStation Go: Similar in size and weight to the AirMini, with additional features like an integrated battery and heated tubing. However, it lacks waterless humidification and is slightly louder.
  • BMC Resound: Another ultra-portable option, even smaller and lighter than the AirMini. However, it has limited pressure settings and fewer features.
  • Fisher & Paykel F&P SleepStyle Go: Compact and lightweight with built-in battery and optional heated tubing. However, it is not waterless and slightly larger than the AirMini.

CPAPs with similar features:

  • ResMed AirSense 11 AutoSet for Her: Offers advanced features like automatic pressure adjustments, integrated humidifier, and smartphone connectivity. It’s not portable like the AirMini but provides more detailed data and comfort options.

  • Löwenstein Prisma SMART: A quiet and compact device with built-in humidifier and integrated battery. However, it is not as small as the AirMini and lacks some advanced features.

Alternative considerations:

  • Mask compatibility: Make sure the chosen CPAP is compatible with your preferred mask type. While most offer standard mask connections, some have specific compatibility requirements.
  • Humidification needs: Consider if you require a humidifier and whether a waterless option like the AirMini’s HumidX would be beneficial.
  • Price: Prices can vary significantly, so compare options within your budget.

    • Contoured shape: Medcline pillows come in a variety of shapes, including J-shaped and U-shaped, which can help cradle the body and keep the spine in alignment while you sleep on your side. This can help reduce neck pain, back pain, and shoulder pain.

It is important to try out different pillows before you buy one to find one that is comfortable and supportive for you.

Here are some additional things to consider when choosing a pillow for side sleeping:

    • The thickness of the pillow: The thickness of the pillow should be based on the width of your shoulders. If you have narrow shoulders, you will need a thinner pillow. If you have wide shoulders, you will need a thicker pillow.
    • The firmness of the pillow: The firmness of the pillow should be based on your personal preference. Some people prefer soft pillows, while others prefer firm pillows.
  • The material of the pillow: The material of the pillow can affect its comfort and support. Memory foam pillows are popular because they conform to the curves of your body, but they can also be hot to sleep on. Down pillows are soft and comfortable, but they may not be supportive enough for some people.

MedCline’s Therapeutic Body Pillow: A Detailed Insight

In the realm of sleep solutions, where innovation meets necessity, MedCline’s Therapeutic Body Pillow emerges as an instrument of enhanced comfort and support. This product, a testament to MedCline’s dedication to ergonomic design and user welfare, offers myriad benefits to its users. Here, we delve into its specifics, the ideal user base, application methodology, and the likely timeframe for discernible outcomes.

Target Demographic

  1. Individuals Seeking Lumbar and Leg Support: The elongated design of the body pillow provides support to the spine and legs, making it ideal for those grappling with lower back pain or leg discomfort.

  2. Pregnant Women: Pregnancy brings about a host of anatomical and physiological changes, often leading to discomfort during sleep. This pillow can offer the additional support pregnant women often seek, especially during the latter stages of pregnancy.

  3. Side Sleepers Seeking Optimal Alignment: For those who prefer to sleep on their sides, maintaining a neutral spinal alignment can be challenging. The Therapeutic Body Pillow aids in maintaining this alignment, reducing the risk of musculoskeletal discomfort.

Usage Instructions

  1. Positioning the Pillow: Place the Therapeutic Body Pillow on your bed.

  2. Assuming Position: Lie down on your side, hugging the body pillow with your arms and legs. This embrace ensures that your spine remains in a neutral position, with your legs slightly elevated to reduce pressure on the lower back.

  3. Adjusting for Comfort: Every individual’s body is different. As such, users might need to adjust the pillow’s position slightly to find the most comfortable alignment. Over time, this becomes intuitive and requires minimal effort.

Expected Timeline for Results

The timeline for achieving tangible benefits from MedCline’s Therapeutic Body Pillow is inherently subjective and will differ based on individual conditions and needs. However, a majority of users have reported experiencing enhanced comfort and reduced discomfort within the initial nights of usage. With consistent use over weeks, these benefits tend to amplify, leading to improved sleep quality and overall well-being.

With the Therapeutic Body Pillow, MedCline reiterates its commitment to elevating sleep quality and addressing nocturnal discomforts. Harnessing the principles of ergonomics and user-centric design, this product promises—and often delivers—a transformative sleep experience. Adjustable Bases vs. Reflux Pillows: The Evolution of Sleep Solutions

Bedjet Adjustable Bed

Adjustable bed bases, reminiscent of hospital beds, have witnessed a surge in popularity among the general populace. Equipped with mechanisms that allow for the elevation of both the head and feet, they offer a customizable sleep experience.

Benefits Over Reflux Pillows:

  1. Versatility: Unlike reflux pillows, which serve a singular purpose, adjustable bases cater to a plethora of needs. Whether it’s watching TV, reading, or combating snoring, the bed can be modified to an individual’s preference.

  2. Even Weight Distribution: Adjustable bases provide uniform support to the entire body. This contrasts with wedge pillows that can sometimes lead to pressure points or misalignment if not positioned correctly.

  3. Durability: High-quality adjustable bases tend to have a longer lifespan compared to pillows which can wear out and lose their shape over time.

  4. Aesthetics: For those keen on maintaining a certain bedroom aesthetic, adjustable bases fit seamlessly into the room’s design without the noticeable presence of a bulky wedge pillow.

Making the Transition

Switching to an adjustable base requires some considerations:

  1. Mattress Compatibility: Not all mattresses are designed for adjustable bases. It’s crucial to ensure that one’s mattress can flex without damage.

  2. Cost: Adjustable bases typically come with a higher price tag compared to reflux pillows. However, for many, the investment is justified given the multiplicity of benefits.

  3. Space and Installation: These bases are bulkier and might require a spacious bedroom. Installation can also be more complex than simply placing a pillow on the bed.

While reflux pillows have long been a trusted solution for acid reflux sufferers, the modern era ushers in adjustable bases as a formidable alternative. Offering versatility, durability, and a more integrated sleep experience, these bases are making waves in the world of sleep solutions. As always, individual needs and preferences will dictate the best choice, but it’s undeniable that the adjustable base is staking its claim as a preferred option for many in pursuit of restful, rejuvenating sleep.

Medcline Pillow Complaints

The Medcline pillow system is designed to provide relief for a variety of conditions, including shoulder pain, acid reflux, and sleep apnea. However, like any product, it has its drawbacks and has received some complaints from users.

Here are some of the most common complaints about the Medcline pillow:

  • Difficult to use: The Medcline system consists of multiple pieces, which some users find difficult to assemble and position correctly. The armrest can be particularly awkward to get used to, and some people find it uncomfortable or restrictive.
    Image of Medcline pillow system
  • Not effective for everyone: The Medcline system is not a one-size-fits-all solution, and it does not work for everyone. Some users find that it does not provide the relief they were hoping for, or that it even makes their pain worse.
  • Expensive: The Medcline system is relatively expensive compared to other pillows.
  • Bulky and takes up space: The Medcline system is quite bulky and can take up a lot of space on your bed. This can be a problem for people who have small bedrooms or who share their bed with a partner.
  • Difficult to return: Once you have opened the Medcline system, it is difficult to return it. This is because the company has a strict return policy.

Overall, the Medcline pillow system is a well-made product that can be effective for some people. However, it is important to be aware of the potential downsides before you purchase it. If you are considering buying a Medcline pillow, it is a good idea to try it out in person first to make sure that it is comfortable for you. You should also read the return policy carefully before you make your purchase.

Here are some additional things to keep in mind:

  • The Medcline system is not a substitute for medical treatment. If you are experiencing pain, it is important to see a doctor to rule out any underlying medical conditions.
  • There are many other pillows on the market that are designed to provide relief for pain. You may want to consider trying a few different pillows before you decide on the Medcline system.
  • It is important to find a pillow that is the right size and firmness for you. A pillow that is too soft or too hard can cause pain.

More Options for Acid Reflux Pillows

If you’re looking for alternatives to the Medcline pillow, there are several options depending on what you’re hoping to achieve:

Acid Reflux and GERD:

  • Wedge Pillows: These are simpler and often cheaper than the Medcline system. Look for adjustable wedges with memory foam for comfort and different incline angles. Popular options include Brentwood Home Zuma and InteVision Foam Bed Wedge Pillows.
  • Body Pillows: Some side sleepers find relief from acid reflux using a full-body pillow that cradles their entire form, reducing pressure on the abdomen. Check out Leachco Snoogle Original Maternity/Pregnancy Total Body Pillow.

Shoulder Pain:

  • Side Sleeping Pillows: These pillows are designed to fill the gap between your head and shoulder, providing optimal alignment and support. PureComfort Side Sleeping Pillow and Coop Home Original Pillow are popular options.
  • Cervical Pillows: These contoured pillows cradle your neck and head, promoting proper posture and potentially reducing pain. Tempur-Pedic TEMPUR-Ergo Neck Pillow and Mkicesky Memory Foam Cervical Pillow are widely recommended.

Overall Comfort and Support:

  • Adjustable Pillows: Look for pillows with removable inserts or multiple layers to customize the height and firmness to your liking. Milliard U Shaped Total Body Support Pillow offers customizable memory foam filling.
  • Cooling Pillows: If you tend to sleep hot, consider pillows with gel inserts or breathable fabrics. Brentwood Home Eden Cooling Gel Grid Pillow and Casper Original Pillow are well-regarded options.

Additional Tips:

  • Experiment with different sleep positions: Sometimes, simply changing your sleeping position can alleviate discomfort. Side sleeping on the left is often recommended for acid reflux, while back sleeping may be better for shoulder pain.
  • Invest in a good mattress: A supportive mattress can make a big difference in your sleep quality and pain relief.
  • Consult a doctor or physical therapist: If you’re experiencing chronic pain, it’s important to get professional advice to rule out any underlying medical conditions and find the best treatment options.

Expanding Horizons

While Medley began with a strong focus on residential furniture, its portfolio has expanded over time. From sofas and chairs to beds and office furniture, the brand now caters to diverse needs. Notably, its customizability feature remains a key differentiator, allowing customers to tailor pieces to their exact specifications.

Challenges and Triumphs

Like any brand with a pioneering spirit, Medley’s journey hasn’t been devoid of challenges. However, Medley’s resilience and unwavering commitment to its principles have ensured its continued ascendancy.

Medley. With its emphasis on eco-friendliness, US-made craftsmanship, and customizability, Medley has positioned itself as a top contender in the upscale couch market. The vast customizability, with choices in fabric, leg design, and size, allows customers to tailor their couch to their precise vision, making each piece feel uniquely personal.

Their couches have been widely lauded for their plush seating, ergonomic designs, and long-lasting support. Quality materials ensure that the couches maintain their shape and feel over time. The use of kiln-dried hardwood and high-resilience foam are testament to Medley’s commitment to durability.

In an age where sustainability has transitioned from luxury to necessity, Medley is ahead of the curve. The brand’s focus on eco-friendliness is evident in its choice of materials and manufacturing processes. From GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) certified organic fabrics to natural latex and FSC-certified wood, Medley remains transparent about its environmental footprint, allowing the eco-conscious consumer to buy with confidence.

With Medley, customers are investing in a sustainable, custom-made, high-quality piece of furniture that is designed to last for years. The longevity and timeless design of these couches effectively mitigate the initial investment.

Why Natural Furniture is Better than Artificial Furniture

Natural furniture, crafted from materials like wood, cotton, wool, or leather, often offers a tactile experience unparalleled by synthetic options. The grain of a wooden table, the texture of genuine leather, or the warmth of a woolen upholstery evokes an organic allure that resonates with many. This authentic touch, combined with the inherent aesthetic variation found in natural materials, often renders each piece unique.

Durability and Longevity

Historically speaking, many natural materials like hardwood have demonstrated impressive resilience against wear and tear. Properly treated and maintained, natural furniture can last decades if not centuries. Synthetic materials, while improving in quality, can sometimes lack this long-term durability, particularly when exposed to direct sunlight or extreme conditions.

Health and Safety

Natural furniture materials often have fewer chemicals and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) than many synthetic alternatives. Exposure to VOCs, commonly found in synthetic paints, finishes, and upholstery, can lead to health issues, including respiratory problems and allergies. On the contrary, untreated or minimally treated natural furniture contributes to healthier indoor air quality.

Environmental Impact

Natural materials, when sourced sustainably, can have a lower environmental footprint compared to synthetics. For instance, sustainable timber harvesting or organic cotton farming practices aim to minimize ecological disruption. Conversely, the production of synthetic materials, like plastics, often relies on non-renewable resources and might involve processes harmful to the environment.

Adaptability and Aging

Natural furniture tends to age gracefully, with materials like wood and leather developing a patina over time that many find desirable. Synthetics, however, may show wear in less appealing ways, such as fading, cracking, or peeling.

Economic Considerations

It’s essential to note that quality natural furniture often comes with a heftier price tag due to the costs associated with sourcing and processing genuine materials. While synthetic furniture can be more affordable upfront, considerations about longevity, replacement, and potential health implications might influence the long-term economic equation.

Conclusion

While both natural and synthetic furniture materials have their merits, the benefits of natural options — from their tactile appeal and durability to health and environmental considerations — make them an attractive choice for many consumers. As with all purchase decisions, it behooves the buyer to weigh the immediate and long-term implications, ensuring their choices align with both their aesthetic desires and ethical considerations.

Overall, The Citizenry is a great place to buy bedding. The company offers high-quality products that are ethically crafted and designed to last. If you are looking for luxurious and stylish bedding that will provide you with years of comfort, The Citizenry is a great option.

The Citizenry is a fast-growing online brand that has all sorts of home goods from around the world. It’s a curation of some of the best handcrafted textiles and decor that are made by artisans who are paid a fair wage. These sheets were made by the Denizli Cotton Mill in Turkey where apparently the loop bath towel was invented in the 15th century. I was given their Organic Turkish Cotton bed bundle for review. These sheets are well made and wear nicely all at a fair price.

Ordering your Citizenry Organic Cotton Sheets

These sheets are available exclusively through The Citizenry website. They ship fast and should arrive in about 5 business days or sooner. They arrive in a box but inside the box they are also wrapped in plastic to keep them clean during transit.

I also received a nice thank you letter and a small notepad. Maybe to journal my dreams? I’m not sure.

How Much Do Citizenry Sheets Cost?

For this review, I received a queen-size bundle which retails for $455. It’s a $75 savings vs. buying each item individually. I usually have 4 pillows on my bed so you can buy extra pillowcases individually for a consistent look. Shipping is free but make sure you read the fine print with their return policy. Bedding can be returned for a full refund but it must be unused and in original packaging. So you really don’t get a chance to try it out short of just feeling it before you put it on your bed.

Set includes:
– 1 Sheet Set (1 fitted sheet, 1 flat sheet, 2 pillowcases)
– 1 Duvet Cover
– 2 Extra Pillowcases

Full Set: $435
Queen Set $455
King Set $515

Construction of the Citizenry Organic Cotton Sheets

These are 4oo thread count sheets in a sateen weave.

Made using 100% organic, long-staple cotton in the Aegean region of Turkey, each piece is Oeko-Tex® and Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) certified – the world’s foremost authority for organic textiles. From sourcing to finishing and every step in between, each piece is made sustainably in a fair-trade working environment.

My Citizenry Organic Cotton Sheets Findings

Here’s a video of my findings on these sheets. I have reviewed dozens of organic cotton sheets so I have a lot of experience with different weaves and thread counts.

What struck me most about these sheets is that they are a 400 thread count weave. I really don’t recommend going beyond 400 thread count because they get too thick and reduce breathability. These sheets are very smooth and breathable and just look great on your bed. The next thing I look for is color. These have a consistent dye and should hold up well after many washes. It is hard to get color right with organic sheets because they can’t use the same chemicals as traditional sheets but I think they hit the mark with these navy sheets.

My Citizenry Sheets Final Thoughts

These days everything we buy seems to tell a story. Not only about where the product is from but who we are and what we stand for. The Citizenry understands that what you buy can make a difference in your life and the life of the people that made it and for that reason, I think they are justified in charging more than what you would pay for conventional sheets.

SONU Mattress Review: Must-Have for Side Sleepers!

Sonu Mattress Review

Overview of the Sonu Mattress

The Sonu mattress is a bed-in-a-box mattress that is designed to provide comfort and support for a good night’s sleep. It is made with three layers of foam: a top layer of cooling gel memory foam, a middle layer of transition foam, and a bottom layer of high-density support foam. The mattress is also encased in a breathable cover that is removable and machine-washable.

One of the key features of the Sonu mattress is its cooling technology. The cooling gel memory foam is designed to draw heat away from the body, which can be especially beneficial for people who tend to sleep hot. The mattress also has an open-cell design that allows for better airflow, further helping to regulate temperature.

In terms of support, the Sonu mattress is designed to provide a balanced level of firmness that is suitable for most sleep positions. The top layer of memory foam contours to the body, providing pressure relief for the hips, shoulders, and other sensitive areas. The middle layer of transition foam helps to distribute weight evenly, while the bottom layer of support foam provides a stable foundation.

Overall, the Sonu mattress is a well-designed, high-quality bed-in-a-box option that offers good support and cooling features.

SONU Mattress Video Overview

Sonu Mattress Construction

The construction details of the Sonu mattress can vary slightly depending on the specific model (Plush, Firm, and Hybrid), but here’s a general overview:

Overall depth: 14 inches

Cover:

  • Woven with Phase Change Material (PCM) to wick away heat and regulate temperature.
  • Breathable and stretchy fabric for added comfort.

Comfort Layer:

  • Sonu Plush and Firm: Features 26 pieces of premium high-resilience CertiPUR-US® certified foams.
  • Sonu Hybrid: 28 pieces of premium high-resilience CertiPUR-US® certified foams with an additional layer of 6-inch individually pocketed coils for enhanced support and bounce.

Transition Layer:

  • A layer of transitional foam to provide support and contouring, easing the transition between the comfort and support layers.

Support Layer:

  • A high-density base foam for stability and durability.

Additional features:

  • 7-zone construction designed to provide targeted support for different pressure points in the body.
  • Reinforced perimeter for edge support to prevent roll-off.
  • Removable and washable cover for easy cleaning.

Here are some specific variations between the models:

  • Sonu Plush: Softer comfort layer with higher pressure relief for side sleepers.
  • Sonu Firm: Firmer comfort layer for back and stomach sleepers who prefer more support.
  • Sonu Hybrid: Combines the conforming comfort of memory foam with the bounce and support of pocketed coils, suitable for a wider range of sleepers.

It’s important to note that these are just the main construction details, and the specific materials and densities of each layer may not be publicly disclosed by Sonu.

The Sonu Mattress Patent

Sonu mattresses actually hold two patents related to their unique design features:

  • Patent number D906737: This patent is titled “Bed with negative space” and it specifically covers the design of the Sonu mattress’s Comfort Channel. This channel is the main distinguishing feature of the mattress, providing targeted pressure relief for side sleepers by allowing their shoulders and arms to sink in comfortably.
  • Patent number 10820718: This patent is also titled “Bed with negative space” and it delves deeper into the functionality and benefits of the Comfort Channel. It includes additional details about the specific dimensions and construction of the channel, as well as claims about its effectiveness in reducing pressure points and improving sleep quality for side sleepers.

It’s important to note that these patents only protect the specific design and functionality of the Comfort Channel feature, not the overall concept of a mattress or even other features in the Sonu mattress. This means that other companies could potentially create mattresses with similar benefits without infringing on Sonu’s patents.

  • Sleep Number Climate 360 iQ Select: Not an exact negative space design, but it features an adjustable air chamber that can be customized to create a slight dip for pressure relief, similar to the Sonu’s approach.
  • Nest Bedding Lumbar Channel Topper: This add-on topper can be placed on any existing mattress to create a lumbar support channel, mimicking the Sonu’s targeted pressure relief feature.

Sonu Mattress Complaints

Sonu mattresses, like any product, have received both positive and negative feedback from customers. Here’s a summary of some of the most common complaints found online:

  • Comfort Channel: While the Comfort Channel is designed to provide targeted pressure relief for side sleepers, some users have found it to be too narrow or uncomfortable, causing pressure points and pain.
  • Edge support: Some reviewers have reported feeling like they might roll off the edge of the mattress, especially if they sleep near the edge of the bed or are of a smaller size.

  • Heat retention: Some customers have complained that the Sonu mattress sleeps hot, particularly the hybrid model. This could be due to the memory foam layer which is known to retain heat.

  • Durability: A few reviewers have mentioned concerns about the mattress’s durability, with some reporting sagging or indentations after a short period of use.

  • Customer service: There have been some isolated complaints about customer service, with some customers reporting difficulty getting in touch with Sonu or receiving unhelpful responses.

It’s important to keep in mind that everyone’s experience is different, and what one person finds uncomfortable another person might find perfectly fine. It’s also worth noting that Sonu offers a 100-night trial period, so you can try out the mattress for yourself and see if it’s a good fit before you commit to buying it.

Overall, Sonu mattresses seem to be a good option for some side sleepers, but they may not be for everyone. If you’re considering buying a Sonu mattress, it’s important to read the reviews carefully and weigh the pros and cons to see if it’s the right choice for you.

Sonu Sleep vs. Nectar

Nectar and Sonu Sleep are both online mattress companies that offer high-quality foam mattresses with similar features. However, there are some differences between the two brands that may influence your purchasing decision:

  1. Construction: Nectar mattresses are made with four layers of foam, including a quilted memory foam cover, gel memory foam, adaptive hi-core memory foam, and a breathable base layer. Sonu Sleep mattresses, on the other hand, are made with five layers of foam, including a cooling top layer, responsive memory foam, zoned transition foam, a supportive layer, and a durable base foam layer.

  2. Firmness options: Nectar mattresses come in one firmness option, which is medium-firm. Sonu Sleep mattresses offer two firmness options, including medium-firm and firm.

  3. Trial period: Nectar mattresses come with a 365-night trial period, which is one of the longest in the industry. Sonu Sleep mattresses come with a 100-night trial period.

  4. Warranty: Nectar mattresses come with a lifetime warranty, while Sonu Sleep mattresses come with a 10-year warranty.

  5. Price: Nectar mattresses are generally more affordable than Sonu Sleep mattresses, but the exact price will depend on the size and model you choose.

Ultimately, the choice between Nectar and Sonu Sleep will depend on your personal preferences and budget. Both companies offer high-quality foam mattresses with excellent features, so it’s worth comparing the two brands to see which one is the best fit for you.

Sonu Mattress vs. Purple Mattress

It’s difficult to compare Sonu and Purple directly since they are two different types of products from different companies. Sonu is a mattress brand that offers several different models of memory foam mattresses, while Purple is a company that specializes in unique, high-tech mattresses made with their patented “Hyper-Elastic Polymer” material.

Here are some key differences between Sonu and Purple mattresses:

  1. Materials: Sonu mattresses are made with different combinations of memory foam, polyfoam, and other materials, while Purple mattresses are made with a unique polymer grid material that is designed to be both supportive and pressure-relieving.

  2. Firmness: Sonu mattresses come in different levels of firmness, while Purple mattresses are typically medium-firm.

  3. Cooling: Purple mattresses are known for their cooling properties, as the polymer grid material allows for plenty of airflow and prevents heat buildup. Sonu mattresses may also have cooling properties, depending on the materials used.

  4. Price: Sonu mattresses are generally more affordable than Purple mattresses, although prices can vary depending on the model.
