The Zinus Platform Bed is a great value for the money. I bought a queen size bed for unboxing mattresses to review. This bed currently sells on Amazon for $217.54 for a queen. This bed has been featured in many of my mattress unboxing videos. What I especially like about it is that it is incredibly affordable and very easy to set up.
Shipping is free for Amazon Prime members and it should arrive in about 5 business days. There are other styles of this bed to choose from including the Zinus Deluxe Faux Leather and the Zinus Upholstered Tufted bed.
The bed will arrive in a flat box like the one below. There is an outer box as well to protect the inner box.
In order to set up the frame quickly, I recommend a socket wrench with an allen key attachment. It comes with an allen wrench but having a socket wrench makes it a bit faster.
All of the parts are located inside the headboard.Simply unzip the headboard and take everything out. You can then use the pack of the headboard for storage. You could put an extra set of sheets or blanket behind it.
This is what the inside looks like with all the parts in it:
To start you just connect the two metal frames together and intersect then attach the head and foot boards. The feet screw directly into the bottom.
The sides of the bed are inserted into the headboard or foot board and the cross-section of the middle frame. Everything is a nice snug fit which reinforces the entire bed and makes it sturdy. Below is a picture of what it looks like all put together.
The wooden slats come stapled together so that they are perfectly spaced. They come in two bundles and velcro directly to the sides of the bed. This way you don’t hear them at all and you don’t need to worry about them shifting around.
This is one of the easiest beds I have assembled. Even easier than an Ikea bed. It also just looks great. Since it’s such a simple design, the bed is very versatile for design. It makes for a great bed for a guest room if not your master bedroom. It’s also relatively light and easy to disassemble so it can be easily transported. If you have a temporary living situation or have kids going off to college this would be a good choice, especially since you can have it delivered directly to your destination.
I love my Zinus bed. It would be a great addition to any mattress in a box that you purchase, especially since if you order them at the same time they should also arrive at about the same time too! Because it is a slat system, it will work most of the mattresses I have reviewed on my site and definitely all memory foam mattresses. No need for a box spring. The other advantage is that a slat system will allow your memory foam mattress to breathe a bit more. Soon I will be reviewing some of the Zinus mattress collection which are also very affordably priced.

Zinus platform beds have generally received positive reviews for their affordability and ease of assembly. However, like all products, they are not without their drawbacks. Here are some commonly reported complaints about the Zinus platform bed:
Durability and Longevity: Some users have reported that the bed can start to squeak or wobble after some time. In a few cases, slats might break if too much weight is applied.
Slats Spacing: The gaps between slats might be wider than what some users expect, potentially causing certain types of mattresses, like memory foam, to sag between the slats over time.
Assembly Instructions: While many find the bed easy to assemble, there have been complaints about unclear instructions or missing pieces.
Odor: Some users have noted a strong chemical smell upon unboxing. This is often associated with the foam padding or the wood, and while it usually dissipates over time, it can be off-putting for some.
Support Center Bar: Some larger models feature a center support bar that can be felt through thinner mattresses, which can be uncomfortable for sleepers.
Height Issues: Depending on the model, some users have mentioned that the bed sits lower than they expected, which can be problematic for those who prefer a taller bed or have mobility issues.
Customer Service: While many users have had positive interactions with Zinus’s customer service, there have been reports of difficulty in reaching them or slow response times in addressing issues.
Shipping and Packaging: There have been instances where the bed arrived with damaged parts due to shipping mishaps or inadequate packaging.
Mattress Slipping: Without a lip or edge to keep the mattress in place, some users have reported their mattress sliding or moving on the platform.
Aesthetic Issues: Some buyers have noted discrepancies between the product images and the actual appearance, particularly regarding the color or finish of the wood.
It’s essential to remember that while these complaints exist, many users are satisfied with their Zinus platform bed. As with any product, it’s a good idea to consider both positive and negative reviews and weigh them against your personal needs and preferences before making a purchase.

Will this work with the winkbed?
Yes, absolutely.
I have a Tuft and needle mattress which reccomends slats no greater than 4″ apart. I bought a Zinus Faux Leather frame before i realized this, and from what ive read the slats are 4.7″ apart. It still hasnt been delivered so i havent been able to measure myself. Do you know if thats the case?
All the Zinus beds I bought had slats well under 4.7 inches so I would wait to see. I have bought about 6 of them so far.
Hi, have you compared Zinus to the very similar looking offerings from companies like Room and Board? I’m just wondering if R&B at $1200-1500 is actually a much higher quality to justify the price difference?
Thanks.
