Serta Perfect Sleeper X Hybrid Review (2026): Smooth Top Levels
Perfect Sleeper X comes in smooth-top and quilted versions, and each has its own level and feel selector. This review covers the smooth hybrid. It is aimed at shoppers who want zoned spring support with a more direct foam comfort surface. Treating every Perfect Sleeper X as the same mattress hides the exact decision a shopper needs to make.

Quick verdict
Level 1 is the simpler memory-foam-and-coil choice. Level 2 adds micro coils and narrows the firmness choice to Medium Firm or Plush. Compare that extra layer in person before paying for the tier; the X Quilted model is a separate surface construction.

Reasons to consider it
- Two clearly distinguishable smooth-top levels
- Five-zone support design
- Level 2 adds a distinct microcoil comfort layer
- Useful choice between a firm Level 1 and a medium-firm Level 2
What to weigh carefully
- Firmness choices are not identical across levels
- No new Yawnder scores for these exact builds
- Quilted X listings are separate and should not be mixed into price comparisons
- Cooling claims have not been independently measured here
Current models and firmness choices
The model/tier and the selected feel belong together. The summaries below evaluate the current listed builds from manufacturer specifications; they are not a claim that every configuration has been sleep-tested at Yawnder.
X Smooth Hybrid Level 1
Level 1 is the starting point if you want the X support concept without the microcoil upcharge. Firm fits the least-sink shortlist; Medium is useful for mixed-position comparison; Plush is the cushioning option. Compare the selected size and feel carefully because the lowest Queen price is attached to Firm, not every Level 1 configuration.
Current listed feels: Firm; Medium; Plush. Queen: $1,599–$1,899.
X Smooth Hybrid Level 2

Level 2 adds micro coils and lists Medium Firm or Plush. It is worth shortlisting when you want a more elaborate comfort system but still prefer a smooth surface. The price difference should be weighed against the feel of the exact version. Side sleepers should compare Plush with Level 1 Plush rather than using the level number as a stand-in for softness.
Current listed feels: Medium Firm; Plush. Queen: $2,099.
Construction and expected feel
Both smooth hybrid levels list Serta's five-zone Active design, supportive coils, and one inch of graphite-infused Perfect Conform memory foam. Level 2 adds a microcoil layer intended to increase local contouring. Its listed profile is 14 inches, compared with the 13-inch Level 1 presentation in Serta's comparison panel. These are manufacturer specifications and do not establish a measured pressure-relief improvement.
Level 1 offers Firm, Medium, and Plush. Level 2 offers Medium Firm and Plush, so it is not simply the same three feels with a bonus layer. Start with the firmness your sleep position requires, then compare levels within the nearest feel. A Medium Firm Level 2 should not be assumed equivalent to Level 1 Medium, and a Plush label does not tell you the precise depth of sink.

Which sleepers should compare it?
| Sleeper | How to choose |
|---|---|
| Side sleepers | Compare Medium and softer options for shoulder and hip cushioning. Check that the waist and pelvis remain supported; a Plush label alone is not enough. |
| Back sleepers | Start with a balanced Medium or Firm where offered. Check support through the lower back and avoid a top that lets the pelvis sink much farther than the upper body. |
| Stomach sleepers | Compare the firmer available builds. A thick, soft pillow top deserves particular care if it allows the hips to drop. |
| Combination sleepers | Test turning through your usual positions. Comfort-layer depth and the selected firmness can matter as much as whether the mattress has coils. |
| Different body sizes | The same mattress can feel different to lighter and heavier people. Check shoulder pressure, hip support, and edge use on the exact configuration; we have not established a tested weight cutoff for this current family. |
Cooling, movement, and couple considerations
Cooling
Graphite-infused memory foam and a cooling cover are part of Serta's temperature-management design. A microcoil layer can create additional space in the comfort system, but we have not measured whether Level 2 runs cooler than Level 1. If overheating is the concern, ask to compare the actual surface with the same protector and bedding conditions.
Couples, movement, and edges
The smooth foam surface and spring support are intended to balance contouring and movement. The additional micro coils could change how readily the comfort layer responds, but they do not guarantee better partner isolation. Couples should test side changes and perimeter sleeping on the exact feel. No current Yawnder accelerometer or edge-load record exists for each of these configurations.

When the upgrade makes sense
Level 1 Firm has a different Queen price from Level 1 Medium and Plush in the current selector. Use the exact firmness when comparing the Level 2 upcharge. A higher tier makes sense if its surface relieves a specific shoulder or hip comfort issue while maintaining support; it is a weak reason to upgrade simply because another set of springs sounds more advanced.
Trial, warranty, delivery, and retailer terms
Direct purchases from Serta.com are described on the current product pages with a 100-night trial and a 10-year limited warranty. Serta recommends at least 30 days to adjust before initiating a comfort return. Warranty coverage addresses qualifying defects, rather than guaranteeing that you will prefer a firmness for ten years.
Serta’s current traditional-mattress product pages describe in-home delivery and old-mattress removal for qualifying direct purchases. Confirm the actual delivery date, access requirements, and removal eligibility on your order.
Retailer policies can differ. Get any exchange fee, return fee, required protector purchase, delivery charge, and final-sale restriction in writing before checkout. A manufacturer’s direct trial is not automatically the policy for a purchase from another store.
For a Yawnder purchase, use the terms on your order and our return policy. Contact the Encinitas showroom before visiting to confirm which brands and exact models are on display.

Common questions
Is X Smooth the same as X Quilted?
No. They share a family name and some material concepts, but use different surface presentations and different feel selectors. Compare smooth to smooth, or quilted to quilted, with the level and size held constant.
Does this review include a current hands-on test?
This is a research and editorial evaluation of the current manufacturer-listed builds. Product materials, exact variants, prices, and shopping considerations are identified separately from Yawnder’s standardized testing. We do not assign new numeric scores without a test record for the exact configuration.
Which firmness should I choose?
Start with your usual sleep positions, your body size, and how much surface contouring you prefer. Compare the actual listed feel rather than choosing from a tier number or mattress height. Use the sleeper-fit table above, then test the exact configuration or confirm the seller’s trial terms.
Can it work with an adjustable base?
Serta lists adjustable-base compatibility on these product pages. Confirm the exact mattress size and selected base, particularly for split-head sizes, and follow the support and foundation requirements supplied with the mattress.
Can I try it at Yawnder?
Contact our Encinitas showroom before visiting to confirm which brands and exact models are on display. Inventory and display selection can change; a published review is not a guarantee that a mattress is currently on the floor.
