La-Z-Boy Lux Mattress Review: Original Hybrid Testing Restored
The La-Z-Boy Lux review had been reduced to a stub despite having detailed sinkage, foam-response, side-sleeping and cover observations.
Hybrid construction
The Lux used responsive Energex-style foam, cooling-focused visco foam and individually wrapped coils with stronger perimeter support.
Medium to medium-soft feel
Right out of the box the mattress felt softer than a typical medium-firm hybrid. The upper foam compressed easily but recovered quickly, while the springs kept the sleeper supported.
Sinkage and movement
Our 14-pound bowling ball showed meaningful contouring without the slow, stuck feel of dense memory foam. The coil system and responsive foam made changing positions easy.
Side sleeping
The mattress allowed the shoulder to sink enough for comfortable side sleeping while still keeping the torso supported by the spring unit.
Cover
The original review also noted the stretchy, stain-resistant cover. The stretch mattered because it allowed the comfort layers underneath to contour without being restricted by a stiff fabric.
Current-shopping note
This page documents the La-Z-Boy Lux boxed hybrid I originally tested; it does not verify that the same mattress is available today. The feel came from its Energex-style responsive comfort foam above pocketed coils. When comparing a current hybrid, verify the exact foam thickness, edge reinforcement, coil design and return terms rather than treating the older model's specifications as current.
