Evening light exposure — especially short-wavelength light in the roughly 450 to 480 nanometre range — suppresses melatonin and pushes your body clock later. Lenses that filter that band reduce the signal reaching your eyes, which is why the strongest published evidence for these glasses is about sleep timing rather than about eye health or screen fatigue. Amber, red-orange or clear: how to choose

Manufacturers rarely publish full transmission curves. When a brand only advertises a single "blocks 99%" figure without naming the wavelength range, treat the number as marketing. Where a spectral chart is published, look for high filtration across 450 to 480 nm rather than a peak at one wavelength.
Fit and frame style matter more than people expect
Light reaching your eyes from above and from the sides bypasses the lens entirely. Wrap-around frames and styles with side shields outperform small, flat-fronted fashion frames for evening use. If you wear prescription glasses, fit-over frames and clip-ons are the low-cost route; if you wear contacts, a wrap frame is usually more comfortable than a stacked fit-over. Anti-reflective coating helps with overhead lighting glare; a heavy mirror coating mainly changes how the glasses look from outside.
