Avocado has made a name for itself as one of the premier natural mattress brands online. The original Avocado mattress is a hybrid that combines coils and latex, with an optional pillow top for shoppers who want a little more plushness.
Their newer all latex mattress is a great fit for people who want the most eco friendly design, with virtually zero motion transfer. Every component is made with natural materials, designed to be biodegradable, and sourced with an emphasis on responsible production.

Check Avocado pricingOrdering Your Avocado Latex Mattress
The Avocado Latex Mattress can be ordered exclusively through the Avocado website. Most orders arrive in about 7 to 10 days. It’s made to order, which is why it may take a bit longer than a typical foam bed in a box.
This is also a very heavy mattress since it’s all latex. A queen weighs close to 150 pounds. You can choose standard delivery, but I recommend paying for in home delivery and setup just because of the weight.
One practical tip: do not open the box until the mattress is already in your bedroom. An all latex mattress is unwieldy once unboxed and is much harder to move through tight spaces.

See Avocado delivery optionsHere’s the mattress just minutes after unboxing. You can sleep on it immediately since latex does not need time to expand the way some foams do. Latex also does not off gas like memory foam. You may notice a natural latex scent right after opening, but it is not toxic and typically fades quickly.
Construction of the Avocado Latex Mattress
Below is a look inside the mattress and the construction specifications as listed on the Avocado website.
100% GOLS Organic Certified Latex
- Avocado uses Dunlop latex because it’s more eco conscious than Talalay, which typically requires more processing. Avocado makes its own GOLS organic certified latex from co owned farmer societies in India operating under the USDA National Organic Program. Their Dunlop latex is naturally antimicrobial, cooler than memory foam, and built for long term durability.
- The Avocado Latex Mattress uses three seamless layers of organic latex. The top comfort layer is 2 inches of contoured latex (D65 / 14 to 19 ILD, soft), followed by 3 inches (D75), then 4 inches (D85) at the base. No blended or synthetic latex is used, and the layers are secured without chemical adhesives through needle tufting by hand.
- Avocado also cites certifications that require ongoing testing for harmful substances and emissions, including Standard 100 by OEKO TEX Class 1 and eco INSTITUT certification.
If you want a pure latex build without chemical adhesives, Avocado is one of the few brands that leans hard into tufting.
Shop Avocado100% GOTS Organic Certified Wool
- Wool helps with moisture management, temperature regulation, and also acts as an all natural fire barrier. Avocado uses 100% GOTS organic certified wool under the cotton cover in every mattress and avoids rayon, polyester, and chemical flame retardants.
- Avocado also cites Standard 100 by OEKO TEX Class 1 certification for the wool to verify testing for harmful substances.
100% GOTS Organic Cotton
- The cover uses 100% GOTS organic certified cotton and avoids polyester fiber. The ticking and internal layers are needle tufted by hand with organic cotton yarn rosettes to secure everything without chemical adhesives.
- Avocado cites Standard 100 by OEKO TEX Class 1 testing for the cotton and even notes certification for the thread used in stitching and embroidery. Reinforced seams and heavy duty handles are included.
My Avocado Latex Mattress Findings
The Avocado Latex Mattress is the firmest in the Avocado lineup. Latex can feel soft and buoyant, but it does not hug or sink the way memory foam does. With this mattress, you rest more on top of the surface.
The tufting makes it feel a bit firmer, but it’s not only for looks. This is a long standing technique used to hold layers together without glue and to keep the surface feeling consistent over time. The peaks and valleys look dramatic in photos, but they don’t feel dramatic when you lie down.
Motion transfer is extremely low. That’s mostly because there are no springs, but even latex can carry a bit of movement. The tufting helps reduce that even further, which makes this a good option for couples.
Latex is also temperature neutral. The holes in the latex improve breathability, and the wool layer helps regulate temperature and manage moisture.
If you are shopping for a firm latex mattress with extremely low motion transfer, this is the one I would start with.

There are plenty of three layer latex mattresses on the market and many look similar on paper. Avocado stands out by needle tufting the mattress, which changes the feel in a noticeable way and helps with long term structure without relying on chemical adhesives.
If you want a firmer mattress with extremely low motion transfer, this is a strong choice. It’s also an excellent option for heavier sleepers because latex is one of the most durable mattress materials you can buy.
The higher price is justified by the materials and longevity, and it’s still competitively priced within the all latex category. The one year trial makes it an even better value since you can sleep on it for a full year before deciding.
