Why is Room and Board So Expensive?

Room & Board furniture is expensive for a number of reasons:

  • High-quality materials: Room & Board uses high-quality materials in its furniture, such as solid wood, high-density foam, and high-end fabrics. These materials are more expensive than the materials used in lower-quality furniture.
  • American-made: Room & Board furniture is made in the United States, which means that it is subject to higher labor costs.
  • Sustainable practices: Room & Board is committed to sustainable practices, which means that it uses recycled materials and renewable resources in its furniture. This also adds to the cost of production.
  • Design: Room & Board furniture is designed by in-house designers, who create unique and stylish pieces. This design process is more expensive than simply copying existing designs.
  • Brand recognition: Room & Board is a well-known and respected brand, which means that consumers are willing to pay a premium for its furniture.

It is important to note that Room & Board furniture is also backed by a generous warranty, which further adds to the cost of ownership.

Overall, Room & Board furniture is expensive because it is made with high-quality materials, is American-made, is sustainably produced, is designed by in-house designers, and has a strong brand reputation.

What size sofa for a 12×12 room?

For a 12×12 room, you will want to choose a sofa that is under 80 inches in length. This will help to prevent the sofa from overwhelming the space. You may also want to consider a sofa with a chaise, as this can provide additional seating and storage space.

Here are some specific sofa sizes that would be appropriate for a 12×12 room:

  • 60-70 inches long
  • 30-35 inches deep
  • 30-35 inches high

Is a sofa better than a sectional for a small living room?

Whether a sofa or a sectional is better for a small living room depends on your individual needs and preferences.

Sofas are typically more compact than sectionals, so they can be a good option for small spaces. However, sectionals can provide more seating and storage space, which can be beneficial for families or people who entertain frequently.

If you are looking for a sofa for a small living room, I recommend choosing a sofa with a chaise. This will provide additional seating and storage space, without taking up too much room.

Are sectionals still in style?

Sectionals are still very much in style. They are a versatile piece of furniture that can be used in a variety of living room settings. Sectionals can also be configured in a variety of ways, to create the perfect layout for your space.

Why are sectionals more expensive?

Sectionals are more expensive than sofas for a few reasons:

  • Sectionals are typically made with more materials, such as wood, fabric, and foam.
  • Sectionals require more labor to assemble and finish.
  • Sectionals are often more difficult to ship and deliver.
  • Sectionals are often made by high-end furniture manufacturers, which means that they use higher-quality materials and construction methods.

Despite being more expensive, sectionals can be a good investment for people who want a versatile and stylish piece of furniture for their living room.

How Long Will the Metro Sectional Last?

The Room & Board Metro sectional is made with high-quality materials and construction methods, so it is expected to last for many years with proper care. Room & Board offers a 10-year warranty on the Metro sectional, which covers defects in materials and workmanship.

However, the exact lifespan of the Metro sectional will depend on a number of factors, including:

  • How often the sectional is used: The more the sectional is used, the more wear and tear it will experience.
  • How well the sectional is cared for: Regular cleaning and maintenance can help to prolong the life of the sectional.
  • The environment in which the sectional is used: If the sectional is exposed to direct sunlight or moisture, it may deteriorate more quickly.

If the Metro sectional is properly cared for, it should last for at least 10-15 years. However, it is possible for the sectional to last for even longer with proper care.

Here are some tips for prolonging the life of your Metro sectional:

  • Vacuum the sectional regularly to remove dust and dirt.
  • Spot clean any spills or stains immediately.
  • Avoid exposing the sectional to direct sunlight or moisture.
  • Use a furniture polish to protect the fabric and wood.
  • Have the sectional professionally cleaned every few years.

By following these tips, you can help to ensure that your Metro sectional lasts for many years to come.

Overall, the Gino fabric is a durable and high-quality fabric that is perfect for use on the Metro sectional.

It is important to note that no fabric is completely immune to wear and tear. However, the Gino fabric is more durable than most other fabrics, and it is unlikely to show signs of wear for many years with proper care.

Here are some specific examples of complaints that customers have made:

Both Room & Board and Arhaus make high-quality sectionals. However, there are some key differences between the two companies’ products.

Room & Board sectionals are known for their clean lines, modern design, and durability. They are also relatively affordable, especially compared to Arhaus sectionals.

Arhaus sectionals are known for their luxurious materials, intricate details, and classic design. They are also backed by a generous warranty. However, Arhaus sectionals are more expensive than Room & Board sectionals.

Here is a more detailed comparison of the two companies’ sectionals:

Ultimately, the best company for you will depend on your individual needs and preferences. If you are looking for a high-quality sectional that is both affordable and durable, Room & Board is a good option. If you are looking for a luxurious sectional with a classic design, Arhaus is a good option.

Here are some specific examples of sectionals from each company:

  • Room & Board Metro sectional: A modern sectional with clean lines and a variety of fabric and finish options.
  • Arhaus Ellington sectional: A luxurious sectional with intricate details and a classic Chesterfield design.

Homebody vs. Room & Board

Both the Homebody Couch and the Room & Board Metro Sectional are popular choices for living room furniture, but they cater to different needs and styles. Here’s a breakdown to help you decide which one might be right for you:

Homebody Couch:

  • Style: Casual and cozy, with a focus on comfort and relaxation. Think cloud-like cushions, deep seating, and plenty of throw pillows.
    Image of Homebody Couch
  • Comfort: Top priority! Homebody couches are known for their sink-in softness and plush cushions. They’re perfect for movie nights, cuddling up with a good book, or taking a nap.
  • Durability: While comfortable, Homebody couches may not be the most durable option, especially for families with pets or children. The down filling can flatten over time, and the fabrics may be more prone to stains.
  • Price: Homebody couches are generally more affordable than the Room & Board Metro Sectional. Prices start around $2,000 for a basic sofa, and go up depending on the size and customizations.
  • Customization: Homebody offers a wide range of customization options, including different cushion sizes, arm styles, and fabrics. You can also choose from a variety of leg options and add-ons like cup holders and charging stations.

Room & Board Metro Sectional:

  • Style: Modern and versatile, with clean lines and a timeless look. The Metro Sectional can be dressed up or down to suit your style.
Image of Room & Board Metro Sectional

  • Comfort: Comfortable, but not as sink-in soft as the Homebody Couch. The Metro Sectional has a firmer seat and back cushions, which some people may find more supportive.
  • Durability: Built to last! The Metro Sectional is made with high-quality materials and construction, making it a good choice for families with pets or children. The fabrics are also stain-resistant and easy to clean.
  • Price: The Metro Sectional is more expensive than the Homebody Couch, with prices starting around $3,500 for a basic configuration. The price will go up depending on the size, customizations, and fabric choices.
  • Customization: The Metro Sectional offers some customization options, such as choosing the number of pieces, arm styles, and fabric. However, the options are not as extensive as Homebody.

Ultimately, the best choice for you will depend on your individual needs and preferences. If you prioritize comfort and relaxation, the Homebody Couch is a great option. If you’re looking for a more durable and versatile option, the Room & Board Metro Sectional is a better choice. Consider your budget, style, and lifestyle to make the best decision for your home.

Goose down is the best bedding material for a number of reasons:

  • Warmth: Goose down is an excellent insulator, meaning it traps heat well. This makes it ideal for bedding, especially during the winter months.
  • Lightweight: Goose down is also very lightweight, so it won’t weigh you down while you sleep.
  • Breathable: Goose down is also breathable, so it won’t trap too much heat and make you sweat.
  • Durable: Goose down is a durable material that can last for many years with proper care.
  • Hypoallergenic: Goose down is hypoallergenic, meaning it is unlikely to cause allergic reactions.

In addition to these benefits, goose down is also a natural and sustainable material. Geese are raised for their meat and eggs, and the down is a byproduct of these industries.

Of course, goose down is also a more expensive bedding material than some other options, such as synthetic down or feathers. However, many people believe that the extra cost is worth it for the superior comfort and warmth that goose down provides.

Here is a comparison of goose down to other bedding materials:

The Pillow Guy Goose Down Pillow is yet another item part of an incredible line of products from the clever brand Pillow Guy. I received and reviewed free one of their items in the past and was pretty impressed with their Down Alternative Pillow so naturally, I had very high expectations of their Down Pillow. This is a company that targets its items towards men who consider themselves gentlemen and who pride themselves on their good taste.

Overview of the Pillow Guy Goose Down Pillow

While the Pillow Guy only has two pillow types in their inventory, the choice to keep it simple is wise in their case. Their Goose Down pillow comes in two densities, soft and overstuffed. Their pillows are crafted with 100% Certified RDS (Responsible Down Standard) 650 fill power White Goose Down. They’re encased in a down-proof cotton shell and then wrapped in their gorgeous white sateen cover that comes with stunning blue satin piping. The cover has a hidden zipper and truly feels like something a 5-star hotel would supply their guests (and should).

Pillow Guy wants to separate themselves from the crowd as a company suited more for the elite. That being the case, their terminology can vary a little so keep in mind that a Jumbo pillow is more simply a Queen size pillow.

My Pillow Guy Goose Down Pillow Findings

Unlike the Down Alternative pillow, Pillow Guy’s Goose Down Pillow is not made from a synthetic material so there’s quite a process involved in trying to ensure that they’re providing the most desirable product on the market. Their Goose Down Pillows are 100% Certified RDS (Responsible Down Standard) but for those that want further clarification on what that means, the information below is quoted directly from the official RDS website, which can be found at http://responsibledown.org.

Any removal of down and feathers from live birds (live-plucking or molt-harvesting) is prohibited

Force-feeding is prohibited

Holistic respect for animal welfare of the birds from hatching to slaughter

RDS down and feathers is properly identified; to ensures that non-RDS down and feathers are not mistakenly identified as RDS

Each stage in supply chain is audited by a professional, third party certification body

Only products with 100% certified down and feathers carry the RDS logo

If you want to read more about how RDS works, there is more information towards the bottom of the home page on their official site. That’s where they discuss the certification process in further detail.

responsible down standard

Another aspect that I really like about these pillows is that they’re priced accordingly. Because Goose Down is a limited resource, it can be costly, which is why I appreciate the fact that their soft pillow, the one with less filling, actually costs less. Not every company is so honest but I believe that the Pillow Guy is and this is just one indication.

One thing I found interesting about this pillow is how different it was in terms of density between the soft and overstuffed pillow. With the Down Alternative pillows this was quite evident but I think that with the Goose Down pillows they’ve drawn the gap a little bit closer. I think this is a positive aspect actually, considering it’s Goose Down which can lose it’s loft over time. This however can be remedied. Down pillows just require their own maintenance in order for them to last long.

My Pillow Guy Down Pillow Recommendation

The Pillow Guy has created another top notch item that they can be proud to have in their inventory. While there is no doubt that I’m a fanatic of their advertising and would love to meet their marketing person, their products make it clear that their money is invested in far more than just their advertising. I rate this pillow an A+.

Arhaus Furniture: A Historical Overview

The Beginnings

Arhaus Furniture, founded in 1986, is a brainchild of John Reed and his father, Jack Reed. The duo, fueled by a vision of offering high-quality, unique home furnishings, embarked on a journey that led them to the creation of a brand that’s now synonymous with luxury and sustainable design.

Situated in the picturesque town of Boston Heights, Ohio, Arhaus Furniture had its humble beginnings. John Reed’s travels around the world exposed him to varied cultures, architecture, and artistry, which then became the cornerstone for Arhaus’s signature eclectic mix of designs.

A Distinct Ethos

From its inception, Arhaus Furniture set itself apart with its commitment to not use wood from the world’s endangered rainforests. Instead, they sourced reclaimed wood from dilapidated buildings, railroad tracks, and old barns. This commitment to environmental sustainability did more than just reduce their carbon footprint; it gave each piece a story, a history, and a unique identity.

Expansion and Growth

Over the years, Arhaus rapidly expanded its footprint. From a single store in Ohio, it blossomed to over 70 locations spread across the United States. As it grew, Arhaus stayed true to its artisanal roots. The brand has consistently partnered with skilled artisans from around the world, ensuring the integrity and uniqueness of each piece they sell.

This global perspective brought a vast array of designs and styles to the American market. From the sleek lines of Italian leather sofas to hand-crafted antiques from India, the Arhaus catalog became a testament to global craftsmanship.

Innovation and Adaptation

In the 21st century, Arhaus recognized the importance of digital transformation. Enhancing its online presence, the brand started offering virtual tools, 3D room planning, and online consultations, ensuring that customers could experience the Arhaus magic even from the comfort of their homes.

Furthermore, understanding the evolving consumer consciousness, Arhaus further deepened its commitment to sustainability. The company embraced materials like organic cotton, recycled metals, and sustainably sourced hardwoods, cementing its position as a brand with a conscience.

Legacy and Impact

For many, Arhaus Furniture is more than just a store. It’s a testament to global artistry, a commitment to sustainability, and a beacon of luxury design. Over the decades, Arhaus has crafted not just furniture, but a legacy that embodies values, quality, and a relentless pursuit of excellence.

Today, as consumers become increasingly aware and discerning, Arhaus Furniture stands tall, embodying a blend of sustainability, luxury, and a global outlook. Its journey from a small Ohio store to a national brand narrates a story of vision, commitment, and adaptability.
