The Muse Pillow is a cool sleeping memory foam pillow that comes in different lofts so to accommodate every type of sleeper. They incorporate a generous amount of phase change material that makes the pillows cool to the touch and helps regulate temperature at night. These pillows retail for $120.
Overview of the Muse Pillow
Aside from the phase change cover or “Cold Wire Plus” technology as they call it, the pillows also incorporate both solid and shredded foam, something I haven’t come across before. You can order the pillows direct from their website and they should arrive in about a week.
Here’s a video overview of two of the pillows, the extra low and medium loft.
Construction of the Muse Pillow
The Muse pillows contain both a molded foam core and clustered memory foam aka shredded memory foam. The only exception to this is the extra low loft pillow which is all shredded foam. They also all incorporate the cooling fabric into the cover of the pillows.
The dimensions of each pillow are as follows:
Extra Low: 26″ x 18″ x 5″
Low: 26″ x 18″ x 5.5″
Medium: 26″ x 18″ x 6″
High: 26″ x 18″ x 7″

As I mentioned in the video, you can tell right away when you put your hand on these pillows that the Cold Wire Plus technology actually works. For people that sleep hot, this is a key feature. Below is a video that was taken with my infrared camera to illustrate how quickly heat dissipates from the surface of the pillow.
The pillows incorporate both a solid foam core and shredded foam, except for the extra low loft version which is all shredded foam. Here’s a picture of the inside where you can see the two layers. All these pillows have a zipper where you can wash the cover if need be.
My Muse Pillow Recommendation
When selecting a pillow, getting the right amount of loft so that your neck is properly supported is the most important factor. Once you have a pillow that gets you in alignment, other factors such as pressure relief and cooling come into play. I like how Muse decided to come out with an assortment of sizes out of the gate. They recognize that there needs to be some variation in size. I also like that the pillows incorporate both a foam core and shredded foam. The foam core provides a sturdy base for bed while the shredded foam then gives the pillow more of a traditional feel. To top it all off they have addressed the sleeping hot issue. I used these pillows with a bamboo sheet to ensure that I’m maximizing the cooling effect of the pillow. The only complaint I have is that the bamboo pillowcase slides off the pillow easily. That’s because the pillow has a silky surface and the pillowcase does too so there’s not much friction between the two.
If you are a hot sleeper, the Muse pillows should definitely help.

The extra low one looks like it might be the perfect pillow for me. It’s so hard to find pillows that are adequately thin, probably because most people seem to want big fluffy pillows and not thin ones. It’d be nice if I could try this pillow out before I actually commit to buying one!
