Features

Next-generation cooling technology, designed specifically for active Canadian lifestyles. The channeled top layer of graphite latex foam works with the cooling gel layer below, acting as a thermal superhighway. Excess heat is transported quickly away from your body towards open-air channels where heat and body moisture can escape.

Sleep better by sleeping longer. Recore’s™ motion isolating comfort layer increases the number of uninterrupted sleep cycles you experience overnight, giving you as much restorative rest as possible. Not only does it reduce motion ripples across the bed surface, it’s also designed to cushion, contour, and relieve pressure around your joints and muscles.

Supporting you and your body at night helps you achieve greater results during the day. Recore’s™ three layers of performance foam are calibrated to a firmness fit for side, back, and stomach sleepers. The support system is designed to provide overall structural integrity, while also encouraging proper spinal alignment by preventing excessive sinkage.

A healthy sleep surface is clean, hypoallergenic, and odourless. Recore’s™ washable top cover contains antimicrobial silver thread to resist and minimize microbial buildup. Beneath the cover, the allergen-free latex delivers the same responsive comfort and durability as natural latex without creating or triggering allergic reactions.

My Recore Mattress Findings

Starting from the top, the stretch knit cover provides for maximum contouring and breathability. It also has a zipper so you can remove and wash it.

zippered coverThe Recore has just the right amount of sink to it so that it’s truly versatile enough for any sleeping postion. It’s also easy to switch positions at night given the top layer of foam is very responsive.

Here’s a look a how much my 14lb. bowling ball sinks into the mattress.

Here’s another view to show you sinkage and how much edge support you can expect.

This mattress has a zippered cover which is common for roll packed mattresses but it is positioned so that you don’t have to lift up the mattress to access it. This makes it much easier to remove and wash if you need to. Although, I strongly recommend a mattress protector.

In the video below I show you how much motion transfer to expect on the mattress. As you can see the other bowling ball hardly moves but the one that I dropped actually has some bounce which is rare for a foam mattress.

When you unzip the cover you will see that the top layer of foam has some holes in it which provides more breathability and air flow.

Here’s a closer look without the fire sock on

Here’s a side view of the layering. The middle layer is the cooling gel layer followed by the base support foam.

Here’s a video showing how each layer reacts. The graphite latex top layer is the most responsive and the layer of cooling gel foam below it provides great pressure relief. The base layer is standard and provides a stable surface.

My Recore Bed Recommendation

The Recore mattress is a perfect choice for someone new to memory foam. You get all the pressure relieving benefits of foam but without the drawbacks of sleeping hot. Without springs you don’t have to worry about motion transfer either. With this mattress, there’s really no reason you would need or want springs.

I highly recommend this mattress to couples that have different sleep positions and have problems with partner disturbance at night. The Recore will certainly solve that problem. If it’s been a while since you have been in the market for a new mattress, you will be pleasantly suprised at how far foam technology has come and you get it all in the Recore.

The Recore mattress is priced as follows:

  • Twin/Twin XL: $749
  • Full: $899
  • Queen: $999
  • King: $1,199
  • California King: $1,299

Trial:

The Recore mattress comes with a 120-night trial. If you are not satisfied with your mattress for any reason, you can return it for a full refund minus shipping costs.

he Douglas mattress is an all-foam mattress made in Canada. It has a medium-firm firmness level, which is the most popular firmness level for mattresses. The Douglas mattress is made with two layers of proprietary foams:

  • Top layer: 2 inches of gel-infused ecoLight memory foam. This layer provides pressure relief and cooling.
  • Bottom layer: 6 inches of base polyfoam. This layer provides support and durability.

The Douglas mattress is encased in a Tencel cover, which is a soft and breathable material. The mattress is also CertiPUR-US certified, which means that it is made with safe and sustainable materials.

The Douglas mattress is a good choice for people of all sleeping positions, but it is especially well-suited for back sleepers and side sleepers. The medium-firm firmness level provides good support for the spine and helps to keep the body in alignment. The pressure relief provided by the top layer of foam can also help to reduce back pain and shoulder pain.

The Douglas mattress is also a good choice for people who are looking for an affordable mattress. It is priced significantly lower than many other all-foam mattresses on the market.

Overall, the Douglas mattress is a good value for the money. It is made with high-quality materials, has a medium-firm firmness level that is suitable for most sleepers, and is priced affordably.

The Douglas mattress is a true Canadian mattress. It is made with materials all sourced from Canada, was designed by Canadians and can only be bought in Canada. How is the Douglas Mattress Made?

Douglas mattress layers

According to their website, Doulgas mattresses are made with Canadian-built foams and fabrics. The top 2” comfort layer is made of ecoLight™ cooling gel foam, developed to be 50% less taxing on our environment but just as durable as high density memory foam. The middle 2” layer is made of Elastex™ foam to give the mattress just the right amount of bounce. The bottom 6” support foam isolates movement and provides better edge support. The washable cover is made from an eco-friendly Natural Eucalyptus Fabric™.

My Douglas Mattress Findings

When you first lay down on this mattress you will notice that it immediately contours to your spine. This gives the mattress a soft feeling. You are then supported by the middle and base layer at the bottom.

Here’s a photo of my 14 lb. bowling ball to illustrate the point.

This is an all foam mattress so motion transfer is contained. In comparison to the hundreds of other mattresses I have reviewed the top layer recovers quickly for being a foam mattress making it easier to switch positions at night. You won’t get that stuck feeling that dense foam mattresses known for.

Here’s a vidoe showing how each layer of the mattress reacts.

My Douglas Mattress Recommendations

Overall I would rate this mattress on the softer end of the spectrum. I really like how the top layer feels. It is soft but recovers really quickly given how well it contours. This is what really makes the Douglas stand out from the other competition among the Canadian offerings. I think side sleepers will love this mattress because it really addresses pressure relief for your hips but especially your shoulders. Because the top layer of foam recovers fast, you don’t have to wait to get your, “spot” back when shifting positions or getting out of bed then coming back.

I recommend the Douglas to side back and occasional stomach sleepers that want quick contouring and a softer feel without sacrificing support or pressure relief. This mattress also sleeps on the cooler end of the spectrum for a memory foam mattress.
