Suissly Mattress Review: California Dreamin’

Suissly is a new online mattress company that is based out of Santa Barbara California. The name comes in part from some of its founders being from Switzerland. What you get is a clean design aesthetic along with the feeling of a laid back California lifestyle. Suissly mattresses are made in the USA and come in  four firmness options.

Overview

Below is a video overview of the mattress. The one that I’m sitting on is their all foam medium mattress. I also received the medium firm pocket coil version which has more bounce. Each has a unique feel that will has its own set of benefits.

First of the box comes with wheels! This is the first time I have seen this and it is a great addition. Instead of dragging the box into the house and across the room, I was able to just tip it and wheel it which meant a cleaner and easier move.

When unboxing the mattress you get a few gifts. The first is an opener to help you get the mattress out of the plastic. You also get a bottle of lavender essential oil spray that you can mist over your bed to help you relax and fall asleep. Finally, your mattress comes with a cool attachment for your phone, a pop socket. This neat little device sticks to the back of your phone and pops out so you can hold it with a few fingers easily, a perfect solution for lazy days in your new bed.

Findings

To illustrate feel, below is a video of me bouncing a bowling ball on the medium mattress which is all foam. This mattress absorbs motion well being an all foam bed and so is great if you have a partner that moves around at night.

Here’s another video showing the bounce on the medium firm Suissly which has pocket coils and latex. You can see that it has significantly more bounce than the all foam version.

As far as heat retention, both the all foam Suissly and the coil Suissly mattresses don’t sleep hot. That’s because there isn’t quite as much sinkage as a traditional foam mattress and the fact that the California Dream Foam is very responsive. Below is an infrared video showing the heat retention on the Suissly all foam mattress.

Part of the reason that these mattresses will sleep cooler is the California Dream Foam. Here is a picture of my bowling ball on the medium firm Suissly with the pocket coils and latex.

Conclusion

I really appreciate that Suissly has given customers choice when it comes to selecting the right mattress for their needs. I often really like a brand but can’t always recommend it due a customer’s firmness preferences. Suissly has something for everyone.
