The actual memory foam pillow is accessible from the pillowcase so you’re a zipper pull away from exploring what the foam is really all about. This creates an additional passive airway channel thus aiding in further heat dispersion. A mesh gusset is also a huge plus for side sleepers, as it really helps to bridge the distance between one’s ear and shoulder.

While the Domus Pillow comes in only one size, I think it’s quite honestly the perfect size. It’s not too big or too small, it is quite literally just right. It measures 20″ wide x 28″ long x 4″ deep. A “standard” pillowcase is 20” X 26” and a Queen pillowcase measures 20” X 30” so size-wise the pillow should work just fine with your bedding.

My Domus Pillow Findings

After having tried out the Domus Pillow, whenever I lay my head on it, I can’t help but think of how awesome science is. A pillow like this would not be possible without some incredible engineering and I consider this to be a high-quality memory foam pillow. In fact, I was surprised it was priced below $100 because when you see this memory foam it REALLY is quite mind-boggling. It conforms perfectly to every angle of your neck and shoulders, making it difficult to resist when I want to dub it a “high-performance pillow” because as ridiculous as it may sound, it’s precisely how it feels.

Every part of it this pillow is washable and I’m grateful a company exists that isn’t scared to address the element of cleanliness because as they say “cleanliness is Godliness” but not just that folks, a cleaner life usually means a much healthier one. I think a lot of people buy pillows and sometimes have no idea what to do with them later; “to clean or not to clean, that is the question.” It’s frustrating and sad one has to emphasize it but there is more to a clean bed than just a clean pillowcase. The Domus Pillow is cleanable both inside and out. What that means is the pillowcase can be thrown in the washing machine (but read the instructions, of course) and the actual memory foam pillow itself can be run through water. The direction is to run the memory foam under cold water until it runs clear and the company recommends doing this once a month.

My Domus Pillow Recommendation

The moment I saw the Domus Pillow, I couldn’t help but think that it looked like the more attractive sibling of the iSense Pillow but let’s be honest, it’s so much more than just a good looking pillow. Aesthetics do matter a lot to me on a personal level, I am a very visual and creative person so I’ll notice certain things others may not but it’s really about what’s past the cover that impressed me. I think your life will only change for the better when you allow your tired head to rest on a memory foam pillow for the night.

It’s constructed to encourage one to sleep in soldier position or the famous yoga corpse pose. Why I Sought Out The YourFacePillow

The YourFacePillow initially caught my interest because I was suffering from the worst acne I had ever experienced in all of my 28 years. I fought with my skin for an entire year, trying to do everything I could to control it. Like some mysterious crime, it was something I was committed to solving. I spent lots of money on various cleaners and creams and I also tore up my face with my own at-home extraction kit. I used it so aggressively that I would later be horrified at how many scars I had left behind. I didn’t realize that at my age, delicate skin scars and folds more easily. After the year of fighting was up and with no improvement in sight, I finally paid a visit to my OBGYN only to find out that the birth control I had been taking to treat my PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome) was no longer effective at managing my symptoms. One of those symptoms is painful and inescapable hormonal acne.

Aside from the typical surface area that zits like to occupy, hormonal acne, in particular, is another beast. Typically, it’s known to appear in areas such as the jawline and neck. Described as cystic acne, these types of pimples are often deep under the skin, making them not only painful but difficult to even access (and get rid of). Some don’t even come to a head, meaning there will be an evident bump on the face but no white dot in the center to know that it’s ripe for popping. Some of these pimples can appear and just remain. Eventually, it’s not even a zit anymore, just a raised mark for you to remember it by.

I could have at least considered that my hormones were the cause of the year-long sudden shift in my skin but the daily routine of taking my medication had become an automatic robotic ritual. One that never left any time for thinking. It was easy to neglect my health because I assumed it was already being properly managed.

That year of fighting with my skin, however, has thankfully taught me a lot. I’ve learned a lot about acne and specifically, hormonal acne. I also have come to understand PCOS more intellectually and I’ve educated myself about ways in which the skin can change and age and how to treat it well if one wishes to have a shot at aging gracefully.

It’s also important to consider that how you face your day isn’t all that matters. How and where you end your day is relevant too.

Where you sleep and what you lay your head on accumulates many lovely things over time. Aside from built-up skin cells, pillows are also great containers for dirt, oil, sweat, bacteria, as well as various allergens—dust-mites and pet dander being just one example.

The iSense Smart Pillow is a high-tech, adjustable pillow that boasts various features for those who want to be more educated about just how well they sleep. It’s a step up from their other pillow, the Classic Regular Pillow, of which the main feature is only customization via the foam filling. With the Insense Smart Pillow there’s lots more to revel in.

The iSense Smart Pillow isn’t physically designed any differently than the iSense Classic Pillow but what is different about it is what lurks inside.

Along with the foam that goes inside the pillow is a hidden compartment that houses all of the awesome features of the product. Spread across the width of the pillow is a long sleep sensor. This sleep sensor is plugged into the included sleep tracker, which is something you’ll need to charge about every 3 weeks. The sleep tracker connects to your phone via bluetooth, where it’ll then be able to feed information to the Speedpace app (available on both Android and iOS devices) about it’s findings regarding how well, or how poorly, you slept.

For those wondering how they will wash a pillow like this, have no fear. Both the sleep sensor and sleep tracker (along with the cords to each) can be taken out of the pillow easily so that you can throw it in the washing machine.

Regarding the foam, there are two separate compartments that you can access to adjust the filling. There is a compartment for the top portion of the pillow, and a compartment for the bottom portion.

So what awesome features does this pillow offer?

On the tech side, with the sleep tracker, you’ll have access to knowledge you might not have otherwise. You’ll now know precisely how long it took you to fall asleep, how long you actually slept, how many sleep cycles you’ve had in a night, the number of times you tossed and turned, as well as your heart rate and respiratory rate. The app also comes with a smart alarm, personalized tips based on how you’re doing and social connectivity.

My iSense Smart Pillow Findings

As far as the pillow itself goes, the claims they make on their website are #facts. The outer cover is both stunning and cooling and I could tell immediately that they had used a moisture-wicking, Dacron-inspired fabric here. These types of textiles are so much more high-tech than people realize and that’s why items with them, or made out of them, come at a premium cost. The stitching on top is beautiful and it’s also true that the cover is silky-soft. They did a wonderful job in making this pillow feel totally luxurious and high-end. Even if you were in a store and you were “just browsing,” you’d be happy to have your fingers grace its surface. It’s honestly lovely. The way this pillow is sewn is also awesome. It’s not the standard style of what you’d expect from most pillows. It has corners, so-to-speak. Because there’s this well-designed band along its perimeter, it allows the pillow to maintain its shape more efficiently thereby creating space for your neck to be supported. As a plus, the piping on the outer cover really adds to the aesthetic.

With the foam filling, I think that having two separate compartments within the pillow where the filling can be adjusted was an incredibly wise and functional design choice. It’s all about balance here and it’s evident that element was really taken into consideration. This is a distinction that I cannot overlook, because they’ve created a way for the foam to move around and within the pillow without eventually coming to occupy a single space. The separation between the top and bottom layers allows the filling to be spread out, as it should be. As for the foam itself, it’s unlike any other foam filling I’ve ever seen before. The foam genuinely does not fall flat. It’s honestly impressive and it’s also surprising how fast it returns to its original volume.

My iSense Smart Pillow Recommendation

I have to say that overall I really love this pillow. I like that it’s adjustable and machine washable and I think it’s great that the sleep sensor and sleep tracker are both removable. You can tell that there was a lot of effort put into its creation and every element is an indication of that—from the foam itself to the compartments it’s in, to the pillow’s fancy moisture-wicking outer shell, and even to the way it arrives at your door. The packaging is definitely proper and I’m a consumer who definitely appreciates great packaging.

I also want to add that the fact that the outer shell already has some foam lining is a really nice touch. Another awesome benefit about being able to remove the sleep tracker and sleep sensor is that if you wanted to, you could actually use it in other pillows as well. If for whatever reason you didn’t like this pillow, you would still be able to salvage the sleep tracker inside of it and continue to make use of it.

From my research, I’ve found that there is apparently some controversy surrounding sleep apps. Despite this, it all seems to come down to personal opinion. I think that this pillow is a great choice for someone who can appreciate the tech behind it and who believes in the growth and evolution of consumer-friendly sleep tech. If you strive to be mindful of your health and of your sleep, this product is catered to your person. If you’re new to these types of smart products and manage to maintain a level of skepticism or reluctance, perhaps it’s best to stick with what you know, especially if you don’t think you’ll be making much use of it. Go with your gut instinct, they always say. iSense’s Regular Classic Pillow is what served as the foundation of their Smart Pillow so if you don’t want a smart product, go with the original, which is still a super duper luxurious choice, that I’m sure you’ll be more than happy with.

Cool Jams Pajama Review

Cool Jams are pajamas designed with a unique lightweight moisture-wicking fabric, created with the intention to help you sleep cool and comfortable.

The pajamas are made of specially-engineered polyester fibers that are exclusively meant to enhance breathability. They’re engineered to pull moisture away from the body, by way of capillary motion and a higher rate of evaporation.

“Capillary motion is any flow governed by forces associated with surface tension. Some examples include paper towels, sponges and wicking fabrics. Their pores act as small capillaries, absorbing a comparatively large amount of liquid.”

This process allows moisture, as well as excess body heat, to easily move through the fabric to the outer layer, where it’s then able to more easily evaporate. By utilizing capillary motion, the pajamas allow for more efficient airflow technology. Cool Jams refers to this as the Moisture Transference System (MTS).

Overview of Cool Jams

I didn’t document the unboxing of the product this time around since the shipment was kept simple and the package was really small. I received my Cool Jams in a white plastic envelope shipping bag, and inside it was the top and bottom of my pajamas, both folded neatly. I’m someone who definitely likes more extravagant packaging, and branded packaging is even better still but you will not get that here, or perhaps that is only the case for small orders. Regardless, I can still appreciate the company’s ability to keep it simple and not utilize more material than needed to ship such a small item. If you’re an Amazon Prime member then I’m sure you’ve had moments where you received one or two small items in a massive cardboard box. Sometimes there just has to be a middle ground. Minimal packaging isn’t always a bad thing.

Your Cooljams Options

One of the things that initially got my attention was the crazy amount of pajama options that Cool Jams provides you with. And if some of those options seem inadequate, then they also have a MIX AND MATCH section, where they sell top pieces and bottom pieces separately. So, I’ll take me as an example: I’m a size Small in my torso, but a size Medium in my bottom half. Having the ability to choose is amazing because I get to arrange a perfectly fitting pajama set. Otherwise, I would have had to purchase a set in a size Medium, with pants that fit great and a medium cami top that was too big. I’m really pleased that they let customers mix it up if they feel so inclined.

???? As a side note for ladies:

NO ADJUSTABLE STRAPS

The cami top you can see me wearing in the photos and video, doesn’t have adjustable straps. Measurement-wise, I’m lucky that this happened to work out just fine for me but if you often find you need to make adjustments, be sure to double check. I checked their website and it looks like no pajamas come with adjustable straps. It’s not a problem unless it’s a problem. Just be mindful of this when you’re order and be sure to try on the top as soon as you get it to make sure the fit is correct.

BUILT IN SHELF BRA (in some cases)

The other thing is that some of the pajamas come with a built in shelf bra. This is also the case with my cami top. If you don’t like these things, be careful and make sure the item you’re ordering doesn’t have it. On any product page, if you’re skimming, you can easily find what you’re looking for by hitting CTRL + F (if you’re using a PC) or COMMAND + F (if you’re using a MAC), then type in “bra” and if there’s no indication of the word “bra” existing on the webpage (usually it’s highlighted for you), then it means that particular product doesn’t have it and you’re in the clear.

— The color saturation of the fabric is rich

Upon opening the package, one thing that I liked immediately was the deep saturation of the color of the pajamas. I ordered black pajamas but as we all know, black can come in many (usually undesired) shades. Most of which are just never black enough. Cool Jams getting this aesthetic detail right is already awesome. Yay!

— They smell fresh and refreshing (out of the box and even several days after)

In addition to that, the pajamas have a certain scent—one that I find interestingly refreshing. They smell a little like incense to me but not entirely. Some people might think of how incense burns but it smells more like incense before it’s lit. It smells fresh and earthy, it’s honestly very difficult to describe. I’ve heard people mention certain scents associated with unpacking a bed-in-a-box for example but this is FAR different from any chemical smell I’ve ever experienced before. It didn’t smell chemical, it smelled natural. I assume that the scent associated with the pajamas is of the antimicrobial agent that the pajamas are treated with.

— They are Odor Kung Fu Fighting

It takes a few days before they need a wash and that’s because there was an intention there. Cool Jams does mention that the antimicrobial agent used to treat their fabric is powerful yet natural, which is comforting. I’m definitely curious to see how the pajamas perform in terms of odor control over time, being that the antimicrobial agent is said to last for up to 50 washes, which is a pretty substantial number. The antimicrobial agent isn’t just designed for odor, it’s also created to aid with fiber degradation resistance. Surprisingly enough, in terms of odor, I felt that my pajamas didn’t need a wash for the 7 days I wore them every night. That wouldn’t usually be the case with other clothes I’ve worn to bed, so that impressed me.

— It’s a premium moisture-wicking fabric

To answer the question of whether or not Cool Jams can take the heat, the answer is definitely YES. My most recent living situation includes a home without air conditioning and when working at night and sitting at the computer, working in the Cool Jams pajama pants felt more ideal than anything else. During sleep, I have woken up one night sweating but not sweating in the way I’m used to. I didn’t feel like I just stepped out of the shower. I felt all right. I do see and feel the difference that the fabric makes when sweat is present on the body and I do believe the pajamas are effective in wicking moisture, just as they say they will. The one night that I woke up in the middle of the night sweating, by morning, I was totally fresh and dry. That rarely happens!

— Super duper lightweight

The Cool Jams material is such a pleasant thing to feel against your skill. It’s light, airy, just barely there. There is no doubt that it’s a premium fabric but to find that in a fabric that is this lightweight is rare. That would explain the price though.

— They are the future! ???? ????

The fabric used to create these pajamas really is soft like cotton but it’s cool to know that it’s far from it—what these pajamas are made of is so much more technologically advanced. We can thank science for Cool Jams.

— That 30 day thing

You have 30 days to test drive these babies yourself and if sleeping hot is your problem, then I’d encourage you to consider it. That 30 day thing is: “If you are not satisfied with your sleepwear products for any reason you may return or exchange your item within 30 days.”

I see sleeping cool in your future.

Note: Since the fabric is technically a microfiber, it’s best to air dry your pajamas after washing them. This will ensure their longevity. If you do throw them in the dryer, be sure to use the “no heat” setting but be mindful of the fact that the pajamas could end up quite staticky, so use caution. For those who are anti-static (meaning it’s one of your pet peeves) you already know what to do: Use a clothing line to dry your pajamas instead.

What I really like about this company, in particular, is the variety of their sleep product. My Weighting Comforts Weighted Blanket Findings

Upon opening the package I was immediately reminded of the fact that this was no ordinary blanket, being that it weighed 15 lbs! It’s easy to forget about the weight associated with the product because I feel like we all have a certain image and feel in mind when we think of the word “blanket.” The blanket itself was made of a cotton fabric which I think felt great and breathable. While it felt like a very strong fabric, it wasn’t thick where it’d be difficult to sleep with during the warmer months. The material felt perfect to the touch. The pellets inside, which make up the weight, felt and looked interesting but overall I really ended up liking the concept. I found the pellets to be very soothing, as the sound they make when the blanket is being moved around, is rather calming.

One thing I would like to point out is that there is a pale colored line you might find on your blanket. This is noted in the manual/guide that comes with the package. It’s said that this is from their manufacturing process and that it washes out in about 5 washes or so. I found this to be a bit odd but after sleeping with the blanket, it’s amazing how easily I let it go. Just be mindful of this when ordering or when purchasing it as a gift for someone else.

In terms of weight, this is no light air mattresses. Unlike many other air mattresses that I’ve seen, this one won’t require getting up and out of bed to feel like a strain, due to its raised double height. The measurements below are as follows:

One of SoundAsleep’s unique features in this bed is their Comfort Coil Technology. What that refers to is the 40 internal air coils inside the mattress, which were designed to provide a balanced amount of air all throughout when inflated. It’s meant to add durability and support, allowing the bed to remain firm. It’s made with Eco-Friendly PVC and top flocking. The flocked top adds comfort and a feeling of smoothness to the bed and it’s also waterproof. A carry bag is also included.

My SoundAsleep Dream Series Air Mattress Unboxing & Findings

The only air mattresses I’ve been familiar with are those designed for camping so this was a new find to me. I’ve slept on air mattresses with the initial thought being that I’d be fine for the night, only to find myself wrapped inside it like a cocoon since it deflated while I slept. I’ve also seen friends toss their own air mattresses into a river, to laugh and float on a gentle stream. It too had a flocked top but was ⅓ the size and nothing close to this.

When it came to the SoundAsleep Dream Series Air Mattress, at first I wasn’t sure that its raised double height was necessary but after trying out the bed for myself, I realized how useful it actually was. And how comfortable it was. Now that I’ve experienced it, I wouldn’t want anything otherwise. When one sleeps too low to the ground it can feel incredibly awkward and this was definitely not the case here. Unboxing was simple but folding it out took a minute or two, primarily because it was so heavy but I knew that it’s weight was there for a reason.

Once I had it laid out, I was shocked at how quickly it inflated. On their Amazon product page, they say it inflates within 4 minutes but it felt a lot more like 3 for me. Once I sat on the mattress and then laid across it, it felt extremely comfortable. My body and back felt well supported and overall, it felt great for an air mattress. It definitely exceeded my expectations.

In addition, despite having the bed inflated for quite a few days, I saw absolutely no reduction in air. That too was pretty astounding. When it came to deflating the mattress, I assumed it would take a while but it also deflated very quickly. The internal air pump allows you to both inflate and deflate the mattress, so you don’t have to roll the mattress and then roll yourself on top of it to get all of the air out. This mattress does both!

I am definitely impressed with this bed. Many people mention using it in their homes for guest bedrooms and I can see why. It doesn’t look cheap, it’s not cheaply made and it doesn’t feel cheap either. I think this is a pretty great find and worth a shot for anyone considering it for at home use, or even to take camping a few times a year.

The only thing I feel it worth mentioning is that one should be mindful due to its poor edge support. That can be a risk with any mattress but it’s almost a given with an air mattress. I wouldn’t let that be a deal breaker, with all of its other amazing qualities, including SoundAsleep’s generous 1-year warranty. It’s pretty clear that they know they’ve created a top-notch product and their 4.3 out of 5 star rating, based on 14,164 individual customer reviews on Amazon, makes that absolutely clear.
