The Nolah Evolution mattress is a premium mattress that takes sleep comfort to a whole new level. Designed using Nolah’s innovative AirFoam™ technology, the Evolution mattress provides an unmatched level of support and pressure relief, ensuring a comfortable night’s sleep for even the most restless sleepers.
At the heart of the Evolution mattress is Nolah’s patented AirFoam™ technology, which is designed to be more responsive than traditional memory foam. This means that the mattress quickly adapts to your body’s contours, providing personalized support and pressure relief that is tailored to your unique needs.
The Evolution mattress is also designed with a combination of high-density base foam and supportive pocketed coils, which work together to provide unparalleled support and comfort. In addition to its innovative design and superior comfort, the Nolah Evolution mattress is also eco-friendly. It is made using CertiPUR-US® certified foams, which are free from harmful chemicals and heavy metals, and it is wrapped in a luxurious Tencel™ cover that is sustainably sourced and biodegradable.

This mattress comes in a little higher priced than some of the other hybrids on the market but in this case, you certainly get what you pay for. Overview of the Nolah Evolution 15 Mattress
The Nolah Evolution mattress is available in three firmness levels:
- Plush (5)
- Luxury Firm (6)
- Firm (8)
The firmness level is determined by the amount of cushioning in the mattress. The plush model has the most cushioning, while the firm model has the least. The luxury firm model is in the middle.
The firmness level is a personal preference, and what feels comfortable to one person may not feel comfortable to another. It is important to try out different firmness levels to find the one that feels best to you.

Construction of the Nolah Evolution 15 Hybrid Mattress
Below are the construction details as listed on the Nolah website.
The Nolah Evolution mattress is a hybrid mattress that uses a combination of foam and coils. It has the following layers:
- Quilted Euro-top cover: This layer is made of soft foam and provides a comfortable surface to sleep on.
- AirFoamICE™: This layer is made of graphite-infused foam and provides pressure relief and cooling.
- HDMax™ Tri-Zone™ coils: These coils provide support and zoned pressure relief.
- High-density polyfoam base: This layer provides a solid foundation for the mattress.
The Nolah Evolution mattress is designed to provide a comfortable and supportive sleep surface for all sleepers. It is particularly well-suited for people who suffer from back pain or other sleep disorders.
My Nolah Evolution 15 Findings
Here’s what the mattress looked like right when I unboxed it. A lot of time mattresses in a box will still look wrinkly or flat. This one sprung to life and looked great within minutes. I also found that there wasn’t all that much off-gassing. You could sleep on this mattress the same day after unboxing assuming you unbox it in the morning or early afternoon.
There are lots of great features with this mattress and one of them is handles. Because it is so heavy, they do come in handy if you want to rotate or move the mattress. The stitching is heavy-duty and they will hold up through multiple moves.
What stood out most to me is the pillowtop. This is the kind of feel you get with a higher quality mattress. Pillowtops can be trick though. If you get one too soft, you are prone to sinking in too much and potentially rolling towards your partner at night. This will lead both of you towards a crater in the middle of the bed. That’s not the case with this mattress though. You certainly sink in but the spring system underneath is designed to prevent you from rolling towards each other.
Here I am sleeping on my side. As you can see the alignment here is great. I have wider shoulders since I am tall but what’s important is that my hips are well supported while I can still sink into the mattress.
This mattress is also suitable for back sleeping. I am not quite as flat as I would be with a firmer mattress but I definitely wasn’t uncomfortable and if I want to be flatter I could get a thinner pillow. That said, I don’t recommend this mattress for stomach sleepers. Because it has a thicker pillowtop it won’t provide optimal support.
Here’s a look inside the mattress. What you don’t see is the padding inside the pillowtop which makes up another layer. You can see the graphite-infused foam in gray and the high-density foam underneath. The final layer is a firm layer of foam that borders the entire mattress to provide good side support. I think this was a great choice because rather than springs, the foam can be made even firmer so you can sleep right up to the edge without feeling like you will roll off.
The Nolah Evolution mattress is a great choice for anyone looking for a comfortable and supportive mattress. It has a medium-firm feel that is perfect for most sleepers, and it provides excellent pressure relief and spinal alignment. The mattress is also very breathable and sleeps cool, making it a great option for hot sleepers.
Here are some of the pros and cons of the Nolah Evolution mattress:
Pros:
- Medium-firm feel that is perfect for most sleepers
- Excellent pressure relief and spinal alignment
- Very breathable and sleeps cool
- Comes with a 120-night sleep trial and a 10-year warranty
Cons:
- Can be a bit pricey
- Some sleepers may find it too firm
- The coils can make some noise when you move around
Overall, the Nolah Evolution mattress is a great choice for anyone looking for a comfortable and supportive mattress. It is perfect for most sleepers and provides excellent pressure relief and spinal alignment. The mattress is also very breathable and sleeps cool, making it a great option for hot sleepers.
Final Thoughts on the Nolah Evolution 15 Mattress
Creating a good, side sleeper mattress is tricky. I have found over the years reviewing mattresses that a hybrid, spring, and foam mattress is your best bet. But within that category, you need to figure your optimal balance of soft vs support. Everybody is different and I think the Nolah Evolution will appeal to side sleepers that prefer a plush feel that is designed to sleep cool without sinking in too much.

5 thoughts on “Nolah Mattress Review – 18 Test for Perfect Sleep”
We’ve side sleepers who are struggling to find a mattress that’s soft enough to allow our shoulders and hips to sink in. We tried the soft Winkbed and found it way too firm, and now we’re testing the Nolah Evolution. It’s a little softer, but still too firm (and your side sleeping picture appears to me to show that your shoulders don’t sink in enough to keep your spine straight either). I’m starting to think that I’m doomed to sleep on a mattress that’s firm as my patio. Do you have suggestions for a hybrid mattress that’s actually soft? Do they exist?
What did you think of Saatva Plush of Dreamcloud Premier?
Hi Daniel – I am assuming you tried the “plush” Nolah Evolution? I am having the same problem but I got the WinkBed luxury firm thinking that the “softer” would make me sink too much, but it is way too hard. I was thinking about trying the Nolah Plush next, so I was curious if they had that option when you tried Nolah.
Nolah didn’t have a plush option when we bought ours. We’re still looking for the right mattress, so we’ll have to consider the plush version as an option. We haven’t tried either the Saatva Plush (it’s impossible to find a review of the plush version to know exactly how plush it is) or the Dreamcloud Premier (based on the reviews, it’s too firm).
In the back sleeping photo, it looks like the legs are higher than the torso, like a hammock. Any comments on this?
