Whisper Bed Ultra Plush Mattress Review

Whisper Bed Ultra Plush Mattress Review 2

UPDATE: Looks like Whisper Bed is no more. Check out my other Mattress Reviews for something similar.
I received a free Whisper Bed to review. The Whisper Bed comes in two levels of firmness, “Firm” and “Plush”. I had the opportunity to test the plush version and it certainly lives up to its name.  The plush mattress allows you to sink in but because the top layer is a blend of latex and foam you won’t find yourself stuck in it either. Whisper stands out from the pack with their 200 day trial period. Right now the standard hovers around 100 days.

Ordering

The Whisper Bed is only available through their website. This keeps costs down. They also have a chat feature where they are available to answer any questions you may have about the mattresses.  After placing your order the mattress should arrive in about 5 business days. As with most other mattresses I have reviewed this one also comes in a box.

Findings

This bed is constructed with 3 layers which is sort of the standard for memory foam mattresses. There is a firm foam base layer and above that is a medium firm foam layer with a top layer of soft latex. What makes this bed unique is that the top layer of latex is softer than what you will find on some of the other foam/latex mattresses.

The plush version of the Whisper Bed is definitely plush. It has quite a bit of give to it so you sink right in. You don’t slowly sink like a traditional foam mattress though. Instead it has more of a pillow top feel to it. It also recovers much faster than traditional memory foam so you won’t feel stuck.  Below is a quick video to illustrate the point.

The WhisperBed doesn’t have much bounce because it is an all foam bed. There’s really nothing remarkable about bounciness but it does do a good job of isolating motion.

As you can see this 16 lb. bowling ball will sink in a fair amount but not too much

Conclusion

I recommend the plush Whisper Bed to side sleepers. I often hear from readers looking for a mattress that will address hip pain. If you are currently on an innerspring mattress and notice pressure points, this would be a good mattress to transition to in order to find relief. You won’t feel the pressure of the base layer because the transition and top latex layer will give you adequate support. The base layer also has a little give to it so even the base layer will provide some level of pressure relief.  The top latex layer is soft enough that you won’t get the push back you typically feel with latex but still get the benefit of it coming back into shape quickly to avoid leaving impressions.

The Whisper Bed is a versatile bed and while I haven’t tested the firm version, I really enjoyed the plush version for its ability to keep me comfortable on my side which isn’t my favorite sleeping position. With a 200 day trial period you will definitely have time to see if it’s a good fit for you.
