I have reviewed hundreds of mattresses, sheets, pillows, duvet inserts, comforters, sleep gadgets, and adjustable beds. My reviews are based on my personal experience and the feedback I get from customers.

Today is officially the first day of Spring which means it’s time to break out the linen sheets. Thankfully, I received a free set of linen sheets from Parachute Home to review. I have heard a lot about their linens and was excited that they arrived in time. A queen size linen sheet set retails for $169 which gives you a fitted sheet and two pillow cases. Note that you do not get a top sheet but can add one for an additional $90 to bringing the total price to $268. The reason they do not include a top sheet is that they really aren’t needed and they make your bed harder to make. It’s also the European way of making a bed. Instead, the idea is that you would just use a linen duvet cover to get the full linen feel from top to bottom.

Overview of the Parachute Linen Sheets

I reviewed the Parachute percale weave sheets about a year ago and they are still holding up nicely. I really like the self-packaging from Parachute in that you can reuse the bags the sheets come in to store toys or other trinkets.

You can order the sheets direct from their site and after you order your sheets they should arrive in about a week. Checkout is easy and fast. Before receiving these sheets I bought some of their laundry detergent which makes your bed smell amazing. Not too powerful of a scent, just a nice clean, natural smell that really freshens up your room.

Here’s a video of me unboxing the sheets, you can see how the sheets are packaged. I really like the fog color I received. Very neutral and relaxed.

My Parachute Linen Findings

As advertised, these sheets are very breathable and have that one of a kind linen feel. Linen is a thicker and more durable material than a typical cotton sheet. You can expect these sheets to last many years so they are a worthwhile investment.

Parachute does a wonderful job with packaging. The sheets will come in a cardboard box with the Parachute logo on it and then when you open the box you will find your linen sheets in a package like the one below.

You also get a nice welcome card like the one below. It’s a nice touch that includes care instructions.

The linen fabric is milled in the Guimarães region in northern Portugal. This area has a long history of making linens. In fact, they even have a linen parade, the Cortejo do Linho which is held in August.

So how do these linen sheets feel? They are breathable and crisp just like they shoudl be. I enjoy linen because you can get cozy in linen without overheating. Even on hot summer nights I like to have something over me and linen is one of the few fabrics that is breathable enough to keep me comfortable.

Linen is sort of like a good baseball glove, it gets better the more you use it and it requires a bit of  a break in period. I would give it about 3 or 4 washes to start to get some of the true feel.

Does linen shrink? Linen shrinks about the same amount as cotton which is around 5 percent but can go beyond that. However since these sheets can accommodate up to a 16 inch deep mattress, even a shrinkage well above 5 percent won’t be a problem.

Parachute has a 60 day return policy so if you aren’t happy with these linen sheets, you can return them for a refund. Just note that they do have a few stipulations on what can and cannot be returned. Here’s a snippet from their FAQ regarding returns.

The following items cannot be returned:

  • Individual items that were purchased as part of a Venice Set or Sheet Set.
  • Bath or Decor items that have been used, washed or removed from original packaging.
  • Items that have not been postmarked within the 60 day window.
  • Items purchased at a Parachute Sample Sale.
  • Free gifts or promotional items with retail value.
  • Gift Card Sets or Digital Gift Cards.
  • Donations to Nothing But Nets.
  • Fabric swatches.

My Parachute Recommendation

If you haven’t tried linen bed sheets, Parachute is a great place to start.  Not only do their products feel great, they also have a great aesthetic. Parachute exudes a relaxed west coast beach vibe. Since they are headquartered a few block from Venice Beach in Los Angeles, it’s only fitting.
